Madrid Airport is a beautiful and well-organized airport. I really appreciated the presence of electronic signage in multiple languages, including Arabic — a thoughtful touch that helps many travelers. One suggestion for improvement: it would be great if the restrooms were equipped with bidet sprays (shattaf), as they are essential for personal hygiene for many travelers from different cultures.

Google
Nice airport but giving 4 stars because their signage could def be better. Not to international standards if you ask me. Nice clean big spacious airport. Our flight delayed four hours but the Iberia business lounge is wonderful.

Google
Nice little airport compared to Barcelona. Staff are helpful. Signage could be better. Kid friendly. Security and immigration are good. Clean airport but bit small considering it's of a capital city of a major European country. Duty free shop is very limited.

Google
I enjoyed the architecture here and pleasantly open public spaces. Security was set up quite well and could easily adjust to accommodate large flows of passengers. After passing security there are abundant shops, eateries, and cafes. There are lots of seats while waiting, but I suggest you keep your eye out for the wooden-slat benches - they’re ideal for longer rests and lounging! This airport can require A LOT of walking so I suggest wearing sensible shoes :)

I recently traveled through Madrid-Barajas Airport and had a great experience. The airport is well-organized, making navigation between terminals smooth and hassle-free. It offers adequate facilities, including clean restrooms, comfortable seating areas, and a variety of dining and shopping options. The airport is also spacious, which helps prevent overcrowding and allows for a more relaxed travel experience. Overall, a well-managed airport that ensures efficiency and comfort for travelers.

Google
Well ordered, safe and clean airport. Definitely one of the best ones I have flown out off. With beautiful architecture all around, plugs and clean floors. Good amount of shops, restaurants and bathrooms. All of the bathrooms being very clean as well.

Hello House

Google
Good: It's clean, has water stations, and kids play parks in various areas beyond security. Bad: Airport expensive everything at stores; very limited charging stations / plug-in which get occupied quickly and are not near very good sight lines if forced to sit further away if you do find a port. Would have gotten more stars except for the very unwelcome surprise and robbery of €3 extra tax per traveller if arriving by Metro! Not a single sign explains this toll prior to your arrival at the Airport for departure via Metro. The only sign (May 2025) is just before the exit turnstile from the Metro at the Airport. We discovered this sign after being rudely told we did not pay by the staff attending the turnstile as we tried to exit using our Metro card.

Google
To say that the Barajas-Madrid airport has been excellent, the workers very professional and attentive from the first moment you arrive, the truth is a super experience. Clean, large, and with many places to eat, charge phones, etc. Terminal 2 specifically has been excellent service.

Yelp
Beautiful airport!! We traveled to AEROPUERTO DE MADRID-BARAJAS from Sevilla and departed MAD to LAX. Madrid is the capital of Spain, so I'm guessing that is why the airport is extremely clean, modern, and well-organized. The placement of directional signs both on the floor and hanging above helped very much. Just note that the down arrow is straight ahead and not a lower level (in the USA, the up arrow is used for straight ahead). The only concern would be how fast one could move by foot from one terminal or gate to another. I didn't see any guided assistance, but it took us about 25 mins to walk from Terminal T4 to T4S. Signs include the estimated minutes to get from once place to another, which I appreciated! Customs was extremely efficient and the agent was nice. In Barcelona, the agent threw my passport down (same for my +1), whereas in Madrid they placed it gently on the counter and slid it closer to me. There are many food options, but mainly Jamon. I also saw a McDonald's, Burger King and Starbucks for American creature comforts! Not all seating options are open. Make sure it's not connected to a restaurant. If you're a foreigner, have your passport ready for multiple checks throughout the airport.

Yelp
The Madrid airport is speedy! Especially in comparison to so many other European airports. Security is a breeze and so much quicker than others. Navigating terminals may be another story. Terminal 4S is far and takes a train and many ups and downs to get to! If you're late, keep in mind, it's not just security you've got to get past! Your gate may be very very far away! I do appreciate this airport though and find it easy to get to and through!

Yelp
Overall a very clean airport. I have only taken international flights from here. One time there was a screw up with my Iberia connecting flight at MAD. I was told that I have to collect my bags at baggage claim and wait in the immigration line. Then go out and enter airport again as if I was checking into a new flight. That was ridiculous and a waste of time. Getting a ride share is very easy. It's in the parking lot on the fourth floor, section D. You can use Bolt or Uber, which has helpful walking directions. The waiting area inside the parking structure is very HOT. It's a little more than €30 to get into city center.

Yelp
Pretty large airport. Expect a walk and thankfully there's escalators, elevators, and a train. The signage was a saving grace. Good design in one way you hit a cross road of commercial shops, but it's also a little confusing and overwhelming. Areas can get packed up fast and sometimes gates are a little farther than you might think. I'd say the security and immigration lines were efficient. They had a lounge that beat my expectations. Overall while not perfect, it was pretty seamless and smooth for the most part. Lots of retail and food options.

Yelp
No es un aeropuerto bonito, pero es funcional y está muy limpio. Lo mejor: está muy bien contactado al transporte público (tiene acceso directo al metro!). It's not a pretty airport but it's certainly clean and efficient. It's very well connected to the public transportation (it's connected to a subway station!).

Yelp
I've flown in twice now to Madrid, the first time was to catch a connection to Portugal. This last time was to actually spend time in the country of Espana. Wow, there's a lot going on at this airport so I'll have to say that if you have any type of physical disability, it can be a bit challenging. First, you have to take the stairs to disembark from the plane (with your carry-on). Second, you have get on a shuttle bus (with your carry-on). Third, if you want to skip the elevator due to the long lines, you'll have to walk down a couple of flights of stairs (with your carry-on) to get to the tram, which takes you to the luggage carousel and eventually to ground transport. Now aside from that Ragnar race, the airport itself is very beautiful, architecturally speaking. It's very clean and well lit. The signage is awesome and I never felt bewildered or confused. The luggage carousel area was very spacious and the taxi line was orderly and efficient. Perhaps I'll fly out of here one day and that'll give me an even better flavor of how it feels to hang out here for a few hours.

Yelp
Flew in from Atlanta direct. Signage is very good and staff is helpful directing passengers to customs check. Also took European Air Europa flight to Lisbon, Portugal. Docking one star because we were dropped at a terminal that didn't check bags. Had to walk a bit (with to behemoth suitcases and a smaller one) to check bag. Once checked, no problem getting thru security. Check the monitors for gates (like everywhere). Good retail and food options in and around the airport.

Yelp
This airport is unfortunately a nightmare to connect through. I do love the architecture of the airport and its welcoming modern design, the shopping selection is also great but the positive stops here. International connections have to move from Terminal S to terminals T1-2, 3 and 4 and it is virtually a 25 minutes race. Unfortunately, you need to clear customs and that is another issue. We missed our connection to Portugal the first time we landed. This time we really sprinted, ran, passed in front of everybody. We made our train connection went through several flights of escalators. We made the connection to Dallas but it was crazy. Part of the problems is that the two terminals are miles away on opposite side of the airport and they make you go through the tax free section as well. Hey, commerce first....Otherwise if you have a long connection period you can do some real shopping and enjoy their lounge. Bottom line this is really one of the craziest stressful connections we have made and it never changes. To make it, you have to ask for understanding at custom and pass in front of the line. Otherwise you will miss your connection as I did. Iberia would not help us. I had to speak to American for 90 minutes to get new tickets issues and plead my case.

Yelp
Just a ok airport . For the main airport in Spain should be more impressive. Food and shopping choices are fair.

Yelp
Madrid, Spain Airport, Ok, if you can navigate Hartford Jackson AirPort in Atlanta you probably have dajavue! Arrivals and departures concourse are on completely opposite sides of the airport, you have to travel underground in order to take the airport train to coming or going. It's a big airport! Oh, you'll recognize the rude travelers also.
google avatar

Amber P.

Yelp
Look, if your American or you don't speak Spanish have that ticket printed out at your initial location. Most things operate on boarding pass and if you don't get it electronically it's gonna put you back. Lines moved pretty fast. the airport is big! If you have connections internationally I'd plan for 2 hours to be comfortable and not feel rushed.

Yelp
My review is restricted to the arrivals and particularly terminal 1. I took a redeye from Newark to Madrid, arriving in the morning. As you'd expect, the walk to immigration is long and winding. When you get through, you'll be in a long line with all the other international arrivals from Europe. That's a bit of a process, but at least the line moved quick and there were at least 3 people working counters. Fortunately, I didn't check a bag. However, the biggest nuisance from here (which seems to be a trend amongst various countries in Europe) is the lengths required simply to get the Metro. You need to take an escalator up from the exit area and then walk a long and winding path and then eventually walk some more and you'll then walk about a kilometer and finally get to the entrance. Once you get to the entrance, you then have to get yourself a ticket and you can finally travel in peace to your final destination. But that walk was long.

Yelp
I've connected through this airport a couple of times. As you might expect, Iberia rules here. It's a comfortable, memorable, colorful, and artsy airport. The airport logistics were uneventful. Like everywhere else in Spain, the people are respectful and courteous. It's not very scenic around the airport, but you can clearly see Spain's 4 tallest skyscapers in downtown Madrid in the distance. On a December trip, I was quite surprised at how barren and desert-like the surrounding landscape was, but whatever on that.
google avatar

Karen J.

Yelp
This airport is spread out but there were very help directions and even signs telling you how far in minutes you were from certain destinations. My flight was delayed so I had to rush through the airport. I didn't get to see much but it looked like an older international airport.

Yelp
Im not gonna lie, this place is a mission. But isn't it beautiful ? The ceilings are artistically wooden frame work all sustained by a gradient colored steel support system. They start off as yellow and work their way through the colors. Since it's a massive hub for all European transfer flights, it's easy to miss your flight because everything is so sparsed out. Plus, they have jamón serrano in cones everywhere which is very distracting for someone like me. There's a smoking area by the McDonald's that doesn't require you to re-enter customs which is clutch info FYI. It's a beautiful airport and so I have learned to make extra time to check in and wander around for grub in between flights here since it's so massive and aesthetically pleasing. They do tend to announce your terminal and gate rather close to the boarding time so make sure you're wearing your indoor jogging shoes for quick maneuvering. Don't skimp out on the duty free area because it's like an upscale demonstration of everything you can imagine and more. As a miami girl living in a miami world... I go from dale to vale at this spot & sangria is the soup of the day. Ole'

Yelp
This was one of the craziest experiences I have had in a while. I flew from Boston to Ibiza and had to transfer in Madrid, and Iberia Airlines thought somehow a 1 hour connection for an international flight would work. I'd like to really have a conversation with someone about this because for most people, they would not catch the connecting flight. Let me tell you now how I made the connection, but barely. Once I landed, it seemed every other international flight landed too, and the immigration line was LONG. Luckily, my gf, who was meeting me in Ibiza and on the same flight over from Madrid, was ahead of me and texted me and said, "You better haul ass." So what did I do? Cut in front of everybody to get to the head of the line. Everyone was nice about it, and the airport staff were extremely nice. Immigration officer stamped my passport and started whistling, I think he may have seen this all too many times. But, man, he was good-looking, que guapo! I made a mad dash for the train that would take me to the domestic terminal, which required going down a few floors and waiting for the train. By this time, I had about 10-15min before my plane took off. Who knew I would have to take the train over to the domestic terminal, climb more floors back up to get back to ground floor, then had to do another security check?? And then once all that happened, I had to "exit thru the gift shop (meaning a maze of duty free shops)" and past section H and gates, then section J and gates and then finally make it to section H and gate number was in the 60s. I basically ran the whole entire way l, soaked in sweat and barely made it onto the flight, but I did make it!! I saw my gf a few rows behind and we both just gave each other this look... That was so far one of my craziest connections I've ever had (and Ive had some interesting airport stories including being escorted off a flight) and on top of it, I was feeling under the weather and battling a cold. Madrid Airport, I will never forget you now! Flight back home was way easier and I had a close to 3 hour layover, and that was way more manageable and could also grab a meal without experiencing the whole chicken without a head fiasco!

Yelp
We have flown into and out of this airport several times. Considering how absolutely giant this airport is, it's relatively well organized and has very clear signage. Security & customs are well organized and move quickly, the employees are efficient and don't hassle you much. If you have time before your flight or during the layover, there are some great spots to grab decent, and relatively inexpensive food and drinks. We got coffee from a smaller independent stand and it was outstanding, about 2.5 euros.

Yelp
I want to like Madrid Barajas more than I do but there are some challenges. If you are in terminal 4 it is like a marathon to get to the gate. Up escalators down then train the up and down again. It takes a while and have good running shoes. The airport is modern but interesting from the outside but a challenge from the inside.
google avatar

Andrea U.

Yelp
We took a taxi to the airport as we are flying out of Madrid on Iberian Airlines. It took almost 30 minutes morning rush-hour traffic and cost €30. We found the airport to be Well organized, easy to navigate and very clear. We scanned our passports to get a boarding passes and luggage tags. Checked our baggage and walked through chocolates, make up, liquor, cigars, Iberian ham, designer goods, restaurants ... to get to the gates. The airport is large, clean, well marked and there were moving sidewalks to get us going. It was easy breezy!
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
This airport is clean and has a minimalist feeling to it. The sections that I utilized had limited shopping and eating areas when compared to other major airports. I was a little disappointed in the duty free inventory because I had hopes of making several purchases that were not available. Seating was also limited. Security was quick and the staff was friendly.
google avatar

Aly N.

Yelp
As an American who has travelled to many European countries this is by far the worst airport I've ever been. The staff is extremely racist no matter if your talking from an airport worker or an airline worker. I've never been so disrespected or blatantly just treated like garbage in any other country but here. This will be my very last time coming to Espana
google avatar

Yelp
I am sorry is that an International airport? I had to do a double take with the poor state this place was in . On the plus side while coming back from an Iberia flight the deboarding and navigating through the airport was easy . We were easily able to locate our concierge and get out quickly. Alas that wasn't my experience while boarding the international flight . Lines run long and not enough staff to help . There wasn't even enough seating for people to wait . I saw a lot of people just sleeping on the floors . The service counters were severely understaffed and most of my questions were met with only a stare. Definitely not a helpful bunch of staff here . The VAT counter wasn't opened and I had to leave without getting my tax refunded. I had an early morning flight around 7 am so the stores were mostly closed . In my experience in an international terminal that should not be the case . Overall , it just felt like a mediocre archaic airport .

Yelp
Short haul flight, from London Heathrow to Madrid. I've traveled through this airport on a layover many times, but never as a final destination, and I have to say - not bad. The airport was clean, easy to navigate, the train that takes you between terminals and to go through customs took a lot longer than expected to arrive but nothing too crazy. Spain is still operating under mask regulations for public transportation. That means flights into Spain, trains, buses, and taxis. You're okay to walk through the terminals mask-less, but once you're onboard, it's mask on or get off.
google avatar

Brandon B.

Yelp
Decent airport, very large and a little confusing to figure out where to go when you get outside but you figure it out (getting the bus to the nearby hotel was at the far end and not well marked). There are some nice shops and it is clean and unhurried, service was generally good. For international flights it was relatively painless and no big hitches.
google avatar

Dan A.

Yelp
Arrived here early morning. The last thing you want to hear after a long flight is "the plane sensor is not working so the Gate connector will not extend to the plane." They did recover quickly though by utilizing the mobile steps and bussed us to Passport control. Passport control lines moved fast (10 minutes) around 9 am. If you have a second flight with a different airline, it can be a bit tricky if you have to got to a different terminal. We landed at Terminal 1 (United) and had our next leg from Terminal 4 (Iberia). There is a green shuttle bus that you have to take if your airline is in a different terminal. It took us about 15 minutes from Terminal 1 to Terminal 4. Terminal 4 Security lines moved fast although they were busy. Overall, good to allow extra time if transit between two terminals is part of the itinerary. Friendly and helpful people working throughout.

Yelp
MADRID SPAIN: I've been through this airport twice on my recent trip to Madrid & Barcelona. We flew in on Iberia Airlines because it flew direct from Chicago to Madrid. Every flight we took into Madrid & Barcelona came in at the very end of the terminal requiring extensive walking to the customs area, baggage claim & exit points. My first experience into this airport had my plane arriving on time but we were near the very back of the plane & @ the furthest point in the terminal, by the time we walked through the airport. Then waited in line to get through customs then getting our luggage it was almost 1hr later. By then our prearranged pick up left so we had to pay for a second taxi to get to our hotel in Madrid. The airport itself is a pretty cool design w/the undulating curves & colors throughout the airport. This theme is carried throughout most of the airport wo/any stores or restaurants. The exception is the main entry. There they have a large area w/a duty free shop that forces you to walk through in order to get to your departing gates.

Yelp
Barajas is well organized, clean and employs courteous personnel. Pros: Checkin is quick and efficient Security is fast but seriously have never had to take my Apple Watch off Accessible by metro or bus Duty free shopping and numerous cafes Con: Arrive early!! Even though it is recommended that one arrive 2-3 hours pre- flight, it is an ENORMOUS airport. If you have ever flown out of Heathrow London airport you will understand. Numerous terminals, gates, etc. it can also be confusing.. arriving in Madrid via Renfe from Lisbon, cousin and I walked in circles to find information on how to travel from Metro to our hotel. I saw a sign that said M mistaking it for Metro and it wasn't. Transportation: depending where you are staying in Madrid, you might think taking Metro is easy.. it is however, we stayed at Gran Via. It took 3 separate trains to get to hotel. We each only had 1 small carry on. But, there are numerous steps, not all escalators work!, to walk down and corners to transfer, etc. Info: I was flying via Lufthansa and it stated Terminal 1. I arrived at airport and was told Terminal 2. Madrid Card: do your research carefully. We were told at first not to buy 5 day unlimited Metro based on what we explained to rep our touring plans. We were told to buy only a 10 trip pass for 4 days which didn't make sense. We bought 5 day Metro bundle: unlimited bus, train, tram for @17 euros. In summary, airport is great, just do research in advance in regards to flight info, transportation and general info. Bon Voyage!

Yelp
This airport is a mega stress-fest. I had a layover here on my way to Italy and just about nothing went smooth. My layover was 2 /12 hours, which was dumb on my part I guess, but going through passport control literally took up that entire timeframe. It. was. insane. Getting from gate to gate in this airport is unbelievably confusing, too. The building is stretched out so far and it took me forever to find my gate and walk to it. While on the way to it, I was already accepting the fact that I was about to be stuck in Madrid, but the miracle of my flight getting delayed still got me to Italy. Allow as much extra time as possible when traveling through here, and pack as much patience as you can!

Yelp

Yelp
Great international airport. Very modern, great trendy stores, and one of the most amazing first class lounges I have ever seen, the Iberia First Class Lounge. The airport is easy to navigate and get around.

Yelp
Wow I was impressed on how big this airport is I was told it was big but nothing like when you walk in here. It's so clean and organize, the employees working here we're all so helpful and willing to assist you old times, and he has so many shops and restaurants I wanted to eat in all of them.
google avatar

Susan P.

Yelp
This airport is ridiculously large. It's so much larger than it needs to be. You can literally have to spend 30 minutes traveling from one gate to another. They have random outlying buildings which are secondary terminals. Airport itself is fairly clean although the seating is minimal and it's not particularly comfortable. When we landed from the United States we had to walk I swear it was a couple miles to get to the baggage claim. Then we had to take a train and walk some more. We had to go up escalators and down elevators. It's insanely confusing. The signage is poor at best. It's very hard to understand and I've been in hundreds of airports. We spent quite a bit of time trying to find the Taxi Lane when we arrived for the second time this winter. Although there are cheap flights from Miami to Madrid I don't know that it's worth it to deal with the hassle of this particular airport. The priority pass lounge is quite nice.

Yelp
Very large airport. Make sure your Spanish skills are in tip too shape! Very clean airport with many many shopping areas, dining areas and coffee spots. Efficient in a Spanish way. There are airport staff everywhere willing to make sure your on the correct path to you destination.
google avatar

Ralph M.

Yelp
The airport is clean and the staff is friendly. However, there was a 20min line for non-Europeans at the passport control to get out of the country. And that's AFTER checking in and fast-track airport security. If you are leaving Madrid on a plane departing T4, make sure to arrive 2.5h before departure!

Yelp
Prepare for a walk... We flew in in Delta and arrived at the international terminal A. It's a newer terminal and at the end of a big sprawling airport. I have never seen so many airline checkin stations in all of our travels. They went in for what felt like city blocks. Usually, Sky Team and Star Alliance etc host participating airlines together in a single check in area. Not here...Air France and KLM were together. Aeromexico had its own checkin desk and Delta was all the way at the farthest end of the check in stations. Literally the last stop. Phew... Then we had to walk all the way back to clear security. The nice part was a separate screening area for Sky priority customers. That made things go quickly. We used the metro to arrive and leave the airport in our recent vacation. The metro station is also alongggggg ass way from terminal 1. Needless to say, we got our steps in. The airport is still quiet with not many people traveling. We never waited ling in lines. The check in for Aeromexico was the longest line. Easily 100 people all waiting. We checked our bags and they were quickly taken to the plan. Before we boarded we had shown our passports 4-5 times to get from the metro to our flight. They were definitely exercising sufficient security. The VAT redemption stations were closed or no one inside which makes getting tour tax refunds a pain. They pride themselves on selling you tax free goods in Barcelona but fail to mention that the redemption process is a scam. Not many food options open but every single shopping kiosk was open to see you duty free. The lounge that Delta uses is about an 8 minute walk terminal A and we elected not to go in. Everything was well-identified and lots of signs and public restrooms.

Yelp
We were staying at a nearby hotel and went here for tapas and ended up having dinner. Start serving at 8 as most do in Spain. The solomio (sirloin) was fantastic. As was the service and prices. Especially for the proximity to the train station. I highly recommend this place if you have a wait, it's close, really good and reasonably priced.
google avatar

Nahree K.

Yelp
The airport architecture is stunning and the lounges are decent, but the layout is a nightmarish hellscape to navigate if you have a short layover. The gates are too spread out, duty free shops are sporadically packed in between walkways, and the employees were beyond unhelpful, bordering on rude when it came to airport navigation.
google avatar

Kris B.

Yelp
The airport is very accessible and friendly, it's also HUGE!! Stylish, the modern architecture is stunning, it's a beautiful well Design airport there's plenty of signs in English and Spanish immigration and national Guard are super helpful, and the love families, they have an amazing kids area, an indoor playground etc. They really put thought into it. Also there's an area for families with little kids to go thru immigration that has colors and rainbows and make the immigration process not so threatening for little kids, I won't say the same for Heathrow. (Ugh) they made us run thru highly security warehouses in a maze inside the airport but that's a story for another airport review. I LOVE Barajas and I love Spain.

Yelp
Large and modern airport The baggage pickup area was huge and kinda amazing ! But it took a long time to get luggage And the line for taxis was insane ... like 400 people waiting however it does by fast !
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
This airport is huge ! Even if you fly Iberia all the way. You might stay in T4. But. Gates S can be almost 30 min away from gates K. So be prepared for a walk or make sure your connection time is ample. If you fly other airlines they can be in T1 or T2. Transfer is needed or a long walk between them as well. Nice shopping and eating options around.
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely airport and beautiful aesthetics but outlets are hard to come by. Makes it very difficult to get connected online and charge phones. It's a fairly large airport so plan ahead so that you have plenty of time to get gate to gate. Staff are nice but they aren't always especially fluent in English.

Yelp

Yelp
Holy slow Jose! Spent an hour getting out!!! Like why?? Oh no reason. Just slow. Very very slow. Flew in and out of here a few times. Many flight delays too. But food options are good. Jamon, sangria, pizza.. airport paella. Seats are nice at some spot. It's a nice airport. Just very very slow! And a whole lot of delays!!! Super clean though.

Yelp
Arriving to MAD from LAX, the Norwegian flight on the 787 Dreamliner was the best way to arrive refreshed! We arrived in Terminal 1 but there was no skybridge. We had to walk down stairs to a waiting tram to take us to the main airport terminal. Freezing cold wind was whipping by while we waited and waited for 2 more trams to pass by picking up about 40 people. MAD needs to modernize their jet-bridges to accommodate the super jumbo jets (A380, 787, A350).... Once in the airport, customs & immigration went super quick, got our bags and we wanted to catch a hotel shuttle for the nearby airport hotel I had booked. Going between terminal 1 and 2, up and down many levels of escalators, I got lost. Called the hotel and they kept saying there is a sign outside that says Hotel shuttle bus. None to be found. Had to grab a cab for 30€ and got to the hotel. Airport needs a LOT more signs for travelers!

Yelp
My first time connecting from a domestic Spain flight to an international one, changing from Air Europa to Delta.. Connecting from PMI through MAD to get to JFK, they have put the US flights in the far end of the airport which makes sense. This is the easy way to adhere to US requirements for additional security. Put the flight at the end of the terminal and you can rope it off to ensure only the secured passengers get through. Here is problem, aside from the super long walk through the airport. With a flight delayed by TWO HOURS, this section of the airport had no exposed electrical outlets. There was one in the bathroom if you want to hang out there, but gate A2 did not have a single outlet, in European configuration or otherwise. That's a little 20th century and not very 21st century. A couple of the support posts had outlets, but get this - there was no wiring in there. Crazy, even by Spanish standards.

Yelp
Madrid airport is great in transfers as well as staying in Madrid. Coming to Spain more than once, I love flying into Madrid. It's a enormous airport so allow yourself some extra time if you have a flight out of here. It's very conveniently located near the city and you can use train if coming into the airport. The security check points go quickly in the airport. The passport control section goes slow if your not a European citizen. That's the only section they should improve because the lines are sometimes out of control. The airport has a lot of charging sections throughout. The lounges are decent as well as food options. I plan to continue to fly into Madrid since the prices are always very competitive compared to other cities of Spain.

Yelp
Large, clean and very organized airport. Decent WiFi, lots of good places to eat and a great hotel on sight (terminal 4). Also, the metro station is on sight with access to all terminals.

Yelp
This will be about my experience from the metro in Madrid and the T4S terminal. The entire airport is massive and the train from the city (# 8 pink line) had 2 stops for the airport (T1-T3) with a stop between that (name escapes me) and the last stop is T4. Don't worry if you're looking for T4S (I believe mostly Iberia flights). For T4S, get off at the T4 stop, go through a security check and then you will see signs for an airtrain that takes you to T4S. Once you get there, you'll take the escalator up which brings you to Customs. Go right for EU passports, left for all else. The food options for the S gates are pretty much limited to what you see once you pass customs. There's a Starbucks and a few other cafes / sandwich spots which in Spanish fashion will slice up that ham to order (soo good). The sandwiches are 7-8€ so if you're able to, buy a few in town before you go to the airport (they usually are 4-5€). The VIP lounge (Sala) is pretty good and available past customs. For those with the Priority Pass, it's a good place to check out - good wine, beer, and decent snacks. They even have prepackaged sandwiches and fruit. Just make sure you give yourself time to get to the gates. The Iberia lounge is inside the Duty Free shops. Overall, it's a pretty decent airport - nothing too luxurious. Wish they had more aircon around - was sweating bullets the entire time.

Yelp
Really interesting architecture in great color. Lots of space for you to move around without feeling hemmed in. People were very relaxed in here. Simply cool.
