Adorable French Bakery is outstanding. Plenty of parking, beautiful indoor and outdoor seating, and pastries that are genuinely exquisite. I don’t say this lightly: it absolutely rivals Gayle’s Bakery—and in some ways, surpasses it. Yes, it’s pricey. And yes, that’s the point. When you’re dealing with this level of technical skill, care, and top-tier ingredients, it costs more. If you’re looking for cheap pastries, Santa Cruz County is full of options. If you want pastries made with deep knowledge and intention, this is where you go. I drive 25 minutes just to come here—and I’d drive farther. If you’re visiting the Bay Area, put this on your list. Make it a stop as you meander through the Santa Cruz Mountains on your way to Capitola or one of our beach towns. They also serve breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner on select nights (check their website). There’s a lovely bar, and on Sundays they host a patio pop-up called Girasol Pizza, run by a family from Chicago—worth planning around. We went a little overboard (see photos). Took most of it to go—and I somehow forgot to photograph the lasagna, which was gorgeous. Tons of savory options too. Coffee, lattes, mochas—all solid. This place is a hidden gem. Perfect for a sit-down meal, drinks and appetizers with friends, or takeout if you have more self-control than we did. It’s not just a bakery—it’s a culinary experience. Everything item here is wonderful from a cup of coffee or mimosa to their awesome pastries, freshly baked breads, desserts and I personally love the broccoli quiche!! You can't go wrong. The outdoor seating is peaceful and you can bring your canine companions too. I come here often and they're always happy to help with suggestions and a big smile letting you know you picked the right place to dine in or take home. 😊

The bakery opened down the street from our home in Scott’s valley; and i absolutely love popping into the bakery in the morning! They have an incredible selection of pastries both savory & sweet. I love their quiche, bread loafs and so many items to choose from. Bonus the staff are super friendly! I truly can say enough great things :)

The croissants are so good! They have sun-dried tomato, jalapeño cheese, chocolate, and almond croissants. They are so delicious! Lots of indoor and outdoor seating. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Also we saw a French bulldog as we walked in, really added to the atmosphere.

Brand new bakery in Scotts valley. Took over the old Mallone's bar restaurant building, with lots of renovation. Gorgeous food. I had a Pan au Raisin, a morning bun and a baguette all to go... Staff was friendly. Lots of selection. Very spacious footprint... Offering drip coffee Great as well as espresso drinks... I will try the drip coffee next time Great to see a new business in Scotts valley. Nespresso/cappuccino was delicious train staff and a perfectly pulled shot. Only critique I can make is $8 for a croissant. Seems a little pricey!

The staff provide excellent customer service, and the food is delicious! They started a buffet for $20 on Mondays through Wednesdays, and I like that I can try multiple mouth-watering dishes instead of having to choose between them. The staff notice when I am done eating one course of the buffet, and promptly ask what I would like to try next. It is so nice to have this local bakery right here in Scotts Valley.

Service and restaurants are nice. Pastries should really be labeled as bread and lower the price for what you get. The pastries were really cold too but it was a chilly morning. Should have asked for them to be warmed up but it’s whatever. $26 for 3 pastries are SF prices without the quality.

The food looks delicious. I purchased a sweet treat this morning at the Farmers Market on East Cliff dr in Santa Cruz. Cookie was flavorful. I definately want to stop in the Scotts Valley lovation for a taste of the lasagna.

There were so many beautiful pastry and quiche options available so that you could decide between something savory and sweet. When you come in you place your order and they can heat up your food and bring it right out to you. I came in for breakfast and opted for the quiche and it was pretty good. There were a lot of veggies inside and the eggs were fluffy, but maybe a tad in the oily side for my liking. We also tried some of their tarts and French baguettes. The bread was delicious and the raspberry tart was really good. I have heard that some things can be a hit or a miss here and I can kind of understand where they are coming from. Also something to note, the items here can get pricy. The quiche I ordered was $14 even, but the had one about the same size for $20. It really depends on what you get and the type of ingredients in the item you choose. Overall, a really cute spot to check out. Tons of great options here so I would try a little of everything or read some other reviews to see what works for you and what is a skip.

Admirable effort, at least. Adorable French Bakery is based in Scotts Valley, but some reviewers including myself have encountered them at farmers' markets. I saw their tent at the Morgan Hill Farmers' Market this past weekend and was interested enough to pick up some pastries to try. They had two types of Kouign Amann ($7.00) available. The Apple version was not great. It was kinda just caramelized apple sauce on top, as opposed to a pastry with intact apple pieces, and it wasn't as buttery as the Original (aka cinnamon). The Original had the right flavors generally, although some bitterness came through on both items as they were all slightly burnt. If they could simply not burn the pastries, then Adorable's original Kouign Amann would be a solid recommendation. Unfortunately, I'm more likely than not to ignore them the next time I see them around.

None of the pastry items were named or priced at the farmers market, so I asked the worker what these things are and he said almond croissants. I was confused and clarified "these flat ones", and he said in a defensive tone "what do you mean flat"? I thought I'd just forget it and try it myself and he said $10 for this. I thought let me just buy it and get it over with. These almond croissants confuse me! They are like almond cookies on the edge but almond dough for the most part. There is no constants I've had in France that looks and tastes like this. They've gotta rename this! It doesn't taste bad but it's not a croissant. Bad expensive food, bad service and no wonder nobody buys those things at the farmers market. I was stunned and will never return to give another try.

Very expensive for the quality of pastry. The almond croissant is extremely dense while the outside was crunchy and almost burnt. Not one airy layer in sight. I've had their almond croissant from the farmers market before, but this one tasted different and like the quality had gone down or the recipe is different. The pan au chocolat was airy and flakey towards the top, however it gets denser toward the middle and looks/tastes like bread. Disappointed for the price. The service was good tho, the employees are nice. Bring cash if you want to save $, they charge a 3% service fee for card transactions.

The people are great! Ambience and place great! The place is clean. They have outdoor area which I really love because we bring our dogs with us all the time. I love all the food they have in their window. Always accommodating. A true gem to visit to just to hang out and enioy the day! You can never go wrong visiting for breakfast or brunch! Thank you!

Oh goodness! Adorable French Bakery comes to San Francisco farmers' produce markets on Sundays. The rest of the week I crave the goodness baked until the next Sunday. It is all good. I can not tell you what I like best, but I can tell you I bring French Pizza Tart Provencal to gatherings on Sundays when Adorable French Bakery is available all the way from Santa Cruz/Scotts Valley, Ca. Adorable French Bakery, please, please open a bistro in San Francisco. Bisous bisous!

The dining experience here is great, especially the outside area during warm days. The servers here are generally very friendly. I definitely have favorite pastries, but my favorite is the almond twists. I was very disappointed today when I realized that they've changed the recipe for my favorite pastry. Now the almond twists have a lot of added almond paste which tastes terrible. If you love almond paste, you're good to go, but it's definitely not my thing - it always tastes too sweet and slightly artificial.

I enjoyed the food here. But we went for dinner on a Friday evening and we were the only ones there, the whole time. I gather they haven't been serving dinner for very long so they haven't had time to garner a sit-down-restaurant type of crowd yet. Especially since they're still listing 3 pm as their closing time on Yelp (we were there about 6:30 pm). I had the Bœuf Bourguignon, which was tender and delicious. The accompanying potatoes gratin was wonderful! My husband had the Beef Lasagna, which was also good. We ordered a side salad of mixed greens which was slightly bitter in all the best ways, served with a vinaigrette that was not too heavy or vinegary or oily. Dessert wines are my thing so I had the Disznoko Tokaji Hungarian wine, which was sweet and refreshing. We followed it up by sharing the Swiss hazelnut chocolate cake, which was good, but my husband liked it more than I did. I enjoyed my dinner at Adorable. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that I hardly ever give 5; an experience has to really knock my socks off. The food was very good and the service was attentive and friendly, so I recommend this place.

Went for our first visit today. The Malone's sign is still up. It seems way too big for a space for a bakery, but maybe they will make it work. We mostly had savory things, which were pretty good. My wife and I shared a tart Provencal and a butternut Squash soup. The former was decent and the latter was excellent. If you are vegetarian, tell them before they add the bacon garnish. I had a latte, which was a little weak for my taste, so if you like it strong, ask for an extra shot. We also shared a chocolate eclair. The chocolate on top was yummy, but the eclair seemed a bit chewy. They are relatively new at this location, so let them work out the kinks, but do give them a try.

Stopped in the other day. Hadn't been there yet & have been meaning to try as I am in Scotts Valley often. My usual Starbucks was closed. Walked in & wasn't acknowledged at all. Not even a Hi, I will be with you in a minute. All the girls working just completely ignored me even tho I stood at the counter looking at all the pastries for 5 minutes or so. After not even being acknowledged after 5 minutes, I just left. Very rude. Will not go back.

My boyfriend and I stopped in on a road trip. Everyone was super nice and helpful, amazing atmosphere. Tables were clean, all utensils, paper towels, and to-go containers were stocked. We got three pastries, coffee, and a hot cocoa. The pastries were so buttery and flaky. Pricey but well worth it for amazing pastries and baked goods. We'll definitely be back!

Went there for breakfast with a few friends. The food was good, enjoyed a quiche and almond twist, the latte was even better! Nice service too.

This is my favorite hang out in Scotts Valley as a vegetarian/vegan. I want to give a shout out that they have AMAZING VEGAN LASAGNA, and their salads are super fresh. too. The vegan lasagna is made with eggplant and is so delicious and you get some greens with on the side with it or can order a side salad. I took my mom here when she was visiting, and she got the chicken pot pie and said it was great as well. The service is always amazing. The ambiance is spacious and light and lots of outdoor seating as well. And they have a lovely bar now, so I will now be going there for a glass of wine as well! It just keeps getting better! I am just so grateful this place is in Scott's Valley! As an aside, I have bought gift certificates in the past to this place for people and they loved it, so it is also a great gift idea if you are like me and always looking for gift ideas...just saying. :)

Breakfast with cappuccinos and pastries was so amazing that we returned for dinner! Everything was perfect- the food, the service, the warm lighting atmosphere. Chef Beasley makes an excellent duck confit crepe with port wine sauce. Be sure to leave room for the fresh French desserts and pastries. We couldn't have been happier with our double-dip experience!

A friend said they had Quiche Lorraine so we stopped to check the place out. I got a slice of quiche and the Croque Monsieur (I'd never had this before). Both were a 10 out of 10, so rich and delicious! This is not your standard American butter crust quiche...it was different, flavorful and so complimentary to the custardy quiche. I still have half of each to look forward to. I got a blondie square too. I only had a bite, and it's rich and flavorful. Keep in mind that French desserts tend not to be very sweet, and this was not sweet at all, it was buttery. Place is super clean, and friendly, helpful staff. We took ours to go but you can also dine in. This isn't a chain restaurant, it's a local French bakery using many fresh local ingredients, so prices are higher as you would expect. I look forward to a future trip as I hear they also carry kouign-amann but they were sold out.

Great food and coffee. Went on a weekday morning and we were one of the only people there. The two gentlemen working were very pleasant and helpful. The coffee was great and they have a few in house made syrups to choose from. The quiche we tried as well as the tarte were both very delightful!

Visited a while back. The pastries we tried were not very good except for the King's Cake, which was good. The pastries were doughy in the middle and tasted unfinished. And they were kind of clunky. Staff seemed confused and unorganized. Will not be back.

New, different and delicious...yummy. On a personal note, the wait staff is a tad jejune. Backward baseball caps and t-shirts do not bespeak the brand, IMHO When I suggested to one of the staff the idea of "berets" as a better brand look, I was presented with a mocking show of a mime...cute and a tad unkind. My only thought was to improve the brand but apparently this particular person, who is young, did not quite grasp the concept. I wish you well and I'll be back.

Place was closed! As I drove up there was a woman with small children there that said that she had driven a long ways to find that the place was closed. There was no notification other than a fly by night note on the door to the establishment. I called the "bakery" later on that afternoon and there was only a request for the client to leave a message. Nothing about a "closure" on the message... temporary or permanent. No food. No service. No ambiance. Just a note on the door saying closed due to "technical" issues. Be wary!

Organic and locally sourced ingredients. Need I say more? But there IS more! The tried and true plain croissant is perfect. Pain au chocolat has the traditional semi-hard small piece of chocolate inside that won't overwhelm the croissant. To die for! And finally the morning bun with it's butter, sugar and cinnamon is heavenly. It's only a touch of cinnamon so you can also properly taste the sugar and butter. And it's small, so it goes great with your morning coffee. Haven't enjoyed pastries this much since I was in France. The service is always quick and friendly. Highly recommend.

Quant bakery cafe nestled in a hillside in Scotts Valley. Delicious bakery items. Service is friendly and the ambiance is quant. I would highly recommend giving it a try!

I visited the Adorable French Bakery two days in a row while staying in Scotts Valley. Excellent baked goods and coffee (lattes), and really comfortable vibe. Great service by friendly staff, highly recommend!

The food has gone down hill...perhapsvthey don't have enough trained bakers? But the croissants I bought were heavy, doughy, and poorly laminated. I wouldn't recommend.

We have had a lot of wonderful things but my Nana wants to make sure I tell everyone that she is almost 96 years old and the cheesecake is by far the best she has ever had. The staff is great especially Adam, he is also Adorable, helpful and friendly. 10 out of 10 I'm going again.

I went for lunch and enjoyed the food but the baked goods i brought home were subpar at best. The laminated pastries were all raw in the middle and the baguette had not proved enough so it was very dense and dry. I was surprised to read the chef is french trained

Me and my family found the Adorable French Bakery at a farmers market and the food was amazing! The employees were also so nice and the service was extremely good.

I was so excited to learn this bakery came to town. My favorite is the quiche and the lemon meringue. I also purchased the focaccia bread for a dinner party and everyone loved it. My experience is the staff is friendly and offers samples of deserts and drinks. I hope this business is a success!

I've bought from them at the farmers market and was excited when I saw they opened up this spot. Each time I've been they are helpful and offer samples and suggestions. I've mainly gotten pastries, but I see they've started doing some cooked food as well I'll need to try.

Very disappointing. We were the only ones in line. We order two crosistant and they put them right in a bag and never asked to be heated up. I also ordered a hot chocolate and double mocha. We sat outside and waited for some time for our drinks to arrive. I even went in the store to ask about them. The lady did bring it us after she went to the wrong table first. The drinks were barley warm, no taste of chocolate in either drink or espresso just milk. Also no whip cream on top, which usually on both a mocha and a hot chocolate. I felt like we were forgotten, it was not even busy. I could not believe it, $23 later on thrown away drinks and two crositants. I have been to this location before and bought at farmers market. Just a suggestion that the staff to stay with one customer at a time, seemed very confusing behind the counter. The barista was very slow and drinks were not good.

Every single thing we've tried from here is amazing. My husband is obsessed with the cheesecake. The whole experience is lovely and the service is great!

Walked up to the counter and were greeted by two very nice young men. Scanned the counted and saw so many delicious looking pastries, quiches, and breads. We order Quiche Lorraine and a cappuccino for both my wife and me. While we were waiting for our order to be prepared, I surveyed the tables and looked out on the patio which will be so nice when the weather warms up in Spring. Thought about how if I walk from my home on Granite Creek I should be able to fit in the carbs and calories at least once a week. Food was wonderful. I loved it.

what a great little find in Santa Cruz. To the two people working on June 1, you made our visit. A young man and young woman. Professional, polite, friendly... Explained everything they had, made drink suggestions... Really great employees. Do what you can to keep them.

This truly is an ADORABLE French Bakery! We stoppedf to check it out and ended up buying wonderful pastries. Staff is friendly and so helpful. Everything looked so good we had a hard time narrowing down our choices. The light, buttery, flaky pastries are sublime and made our cup of coffee that much more enjoyable. There is ample indoor seating, but it was a beautiful afternoon so we sat outside in the pretty shaded patio. Come by, relax, and enjoy! We highly recommend this gem!

This was our first trip to Adorable French Bakery and our group of 10 were all very impressed! We were greeted with smiles upon entering and the service was quick & efficient. The selection of food made it hard to choose...so we got one of each item and shared. Everything was delicious. Sweet and savory pastries...PERFECTION.
