The Best BYOBs For Date Night - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"Adoro is an Italian spot in Queen Village with the requisite chicken parm that's too big for its plate and oil paintings of the old country on the walls. There may be white tablecloths and daily desserts displayed on a silver platter, but this place is easy to walk into for a casual date night, seven days a week. You'll see couples maneuvering their BYO reds around giant homemade pastas and bowls of garlicky clams in white wine sauce. As long as red sauce is your love language, you’ll be in for a great meal. Figuring out if they're the one is on you." - candis mclean, alison kessler

The Hit List: New Philadelphia Restaurants To Try Right Now

"Adoro in Queen Village hits all the requisite marks of a great Italian BYOB: saucy seafood apps, a chicken parm that’s too big for the plate, and oil paintings of the old country on its walls. There are white tablecloths and daily desserts displayed on a silver platter, but this is an easy place to walk into any day of the week wearing jeans and a T-shirt. Families from the neighborhood are already regulars, masterfully maneuvering their reds around giant housemade pastas and bowls of garlicky clams in white wine sauce. As long as you steer clear of the tough veal al adoro, you’ll be in for a satisfying meal, and will almost certainly leave with leftovers of the creamy, deliciously salty penne alla vodka." - candis mclean, alison kessler, candis mclean, candis mclean, candis mclean, alison kessler, candis mclean, alison kessler, candis mclean, alison kessler, alison kessler, candis mclean, candis mclean, candis mclean

My husband and son took me to Adora’s last night for my birthday and it was our first time there. We were seated right away and the place was adorable! It’s a small dining room and they had lots of waiters and bus boys. I think our waiter was Italian and it was very difficult to understand him when he was telling us the specials. We ordered three appetizers. The first was fried calamari. The pieces were very thick, not quite as tender as I would like, and the breading lacked flavor. It was supposed to come with cherry peppers, but there were none. The second appetizer was mussels in white wine sauce, and both my husband and son enjoyed them very much, but there was some crunchy sand in there. The third appetizer was grilled artichoke hearts And we all enjoyed this one. For dinner, my husband ordered Veal Adoro. He loved the sauce and the veal was tender And the mashed potatoes were delicious. My son got the veal Parmesan, which was a huge portion and he said it was delicious. I ordered the grouper with shrimp and pesto sauce. It came with summer vegetables and a pesto risotto. The risotto and vegetables were delicious. On the other hand, as you can see by the pictures, The grouper was completely covered and flooded with pesto sauce to the point where I could not see what was on my plate. I couldn’t even tell you what the grouper tasted like because the pesto was everywhere. Very bad plating and very disappointing. Overall We will return and try other options.

This cozy new Italian restaurant is a treasure! We enjoyed exceptional service, food and ambiance on our 2 visits so far! The calamari and fried mozzarella appetizers were the best we've ever had. We had to restrain ourselves from devouring our chicken and veal entrees to save room to share 2 rich chocolate desserts. Love that they preserved the detailed tin ceiling in their renovation. We'll be back and we wish them success.

We had an amazing meal here! We started with the Italian Wedding Soup and Arancini, both of which were a lovely way to start things off. The soup was comforting, and the arancini was crispy and delicious. The bread that came with olive oil, balsamic, and herbs was baked to perfection. For the main course, the Chicken Parmesan was amazing! Flavorful and perfectly cooked. Highly recommend ordering it! The Mushroom Ravioli was also very good. We ended the meal with the Pistachio Cake (my favorite part of the meal) and an espresso. It was honestly the perfect meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we're already planning on coming back. The portions are big, so bring your appetite!

Absolutely enjoyed our meal, from the salad special (with mango, pomegranate and fresh feta) to the seafood papardelle dish…housemade tiramisu. Service was friendly & attentive. The owner took time to come greet us and tell us about his venture.

Me and my girls tried out Adoro Saturday night and had a great experience! We started with some apps (Caesar salad, burrata, fried mozz) and I got the penne vodka as my entree. Everything was delicious, service was great, and it’s BYOB. Everything was fairly priced as well. Will definitely be back!

Google
5 stars for this charming and talented neighborhood gem. It was evident that the staff really cares about the guest experience. I enjoyed the food thoroughly … the antipasto was excellent.

Google
Adoro was great! The food was perfect and the servers were knowledgable of Celiac and being gluten free. The chef also came out to ask if everything was going well for the table and was very accommodating to dietary restrictions. Would recommend!

Google
Besides the incredible food, the most memorable part of my experience here was the service !! We were told our table was not ready for us, but were immediately seated at their small bar, given free fresh bruschetta not seconds later, and offered coffee and espresso on the house. We were seated shortly after! Even on an incredibly busy night in December, my water glass never dropped below 50%. Everyone was attentive and all the servers gave excellent recommendations. All the ingredients were so fresh and the quality of the food was just superb. You MUST see the desserts!!!!! I can’t wait to come back here. I can’t remember the name of my entree, but check the photos, it’s the one topped with burrata and it’s absolute heaven

Yelp
The food here is so good, and the service so friendly and efficient, that they are getting 5 stars after a meal where I had half a tray of desserts dropped on my back. I just smiled and calmly let them clean me up. They are THAT good. Since y'all like specifics: don't miss the Roasted Artichokes. Masterful dish.

Yelp
I loved the atmosphere as you walked in. Warm, cozy & well lit but not dark. The staff were polite & attentive & appeared to really like their job. I had the veal & crab. My husband ordered beet salad & risotto porcini. All excellent. We also enjoyed bringing our favorite Italian wine! The evening was flawless & are looking forward to returning...

Yelp
So glad we gave this place a shot! New to Queen Village, Adoro is a cozy Italian BYOB with heaping portions and the warmest service. There are a handful of restaurants in Philly that fit the Italian BYO description, and I think Adoro finds its niche in offering some classic Italian dishes with elevated ingredients. I LOVED the risotto porcini and was pleasantly surprised that it came with shrimp for its price. I also think this restaurant has successfully brought the feeling of a true Italian restaurant (not just an Italian American restaurant) to Philly. You get a bit of that with a place like Giorgio on Pine, but this place offers that while being underrated/a secret (for now!). They're new and working out the kinks still, but I'm rooting for this place. I reserved a table for two day-of but I think it'd be a great spot for a group dinner. And don't skip the tiramisu!

Yelp
While on the hunt for a new Italian restaurant I found Adoro. Philly is a city plastered with quality Italian restaurants so the standards have been set quite high for any new restaurants hoping to enter the market. To this effort,Adoro delivered a unique experience. Environment The restaurant is somewhat small but that's overcome by floor to windows that open up on hotter days. During my visit, one of the pairs of French doors was opened which brought a nice airy feel to the experience. The service was top notch and leaned a touch more towards upscale and less so towards a familial feel(preferred in this instance) Food How were the flavors? Delightful! My expectations for the food were quite low considering Adoro is a new restaurant(per the server they have been open less then 4 weeks). The calamari were crispy yet succulent and the fried mozzarella was sizable. Each of the wife's ventured into "shareable" territory and were massive . I chose a lighter entree of mushroom ravioli which took a backseat tot eh favorability of the calamari. Overall, I would revisit Adoro to check out the rest of the menu. The service coupled with the immense favor infused into each dish makes this a standout Italian restaurant in the Queens Village area. Happy eats!

Yelp
We had been looking for an excellent local Italian place, with nice atmosphere, good portions and reasonable prices. We found it!! The staff is amazing. Run by an Albanian family, and they treat you like good friends. The atmosphere is so beautiful, classic and comfortable. The food was excellent, prices reasonable and portions were good sized. We'll definitely be back!

Yelp
We had dinner at Adoro last night as usually they are booked, so it was great to get a table. Very quaint & cozy restaurant. Feels authentically Italian. Excellent service. I had the linguine with mussels, crab meat & shrimp. DH had mushroom risotto. Both dishes came out fast & hot! Generous portions. Everything tasted great! We finished with the Tira Miso.

Yelp
To follow up on your reply, it wasn't the Veal chop that made him sick! obviously, it was the octopus! he got deathly sick as soon as we got home.... Food poisoning or raw or undercooked fish can cause this and it can happen immediately?? I understand he and many customers had veal chops and yes we all (including patrons) consumed rich food so that's not the answer! Again, just getting my point across to you as to what happened! Again, we will never come there again nor will I recommend it! Just be sure you serve cooked fish! What you told me previously about rich food was not a good answer nor what you said in your previous answer!! I had no choice on this review to rate a star, otherwise I would not have!

Yelp
Excellent restaurant. They gave us bread and olive oil before our dinner, which we haven't encountered in a while, and which we appreciated very much. Fantastic service. Mom and sister got eggplant parm, which they loved. I got chicken marsala, and it was possibly the best I've ever had. Soooo much sauce, loaded with mushrooms, and served with veggies and potatoes. Would definitely eat here again. The only minor negatives were that they are byob, and that they played kitschy, operatic Italian music very loudly, which isn't really my preference; but it was a small price to pay for such an amazing meal.

Yelp
Went with my downstairs neighbor on opening night (9/25/24), and was pleasantly surprised! Service was quick, attentive, and friendly. They brought out hot crusty bread with oil/vinegar for the table, and we ordered the caesar salad, penne vodka, and gnocchi in parmesan cream sauce. My bf was unable to join us due to recovering from surgery, so I ordered the Chicken Alla Fiori for him to go. Pasta portions were enormous, and everything was hot, fresh, and delicious! I tried my bf's chicken at home, and it was fantastic and flavorful (they even threw in some extra bread for the takeout order). At the end they brought complimentary tiramisu, and Chef Florin came out to introduce himself/check on our experience, which I ALWAYS appreciate (esp. on opening night!) Thrilled to have this great neighborhood BYOB across the street, and would love to see a place like this get more attention. Can't wait to go back and try more of the menu! :-)

Yelp
I live nearby so I decided to try it out with my wife. Like the others said, the staff is friendly and attentive. I ordered the rib eye special which had an excellent char and was reasonably priced. I don't remember what my wife had but she loved it. Will definitely be coming back. Do not hesitate to try it.

Yelp
The staff, exemplary. Attentive and friendly, they make you feel welcome. The restaurant is open and well decorated. Most importantly ,the food! Cannot remember when I've had saltimboca this fantastic. I tasted someone's risotto, we concurred it was the best we ever had. Celebrating a birthday, they paid special attention. I will be back, so will my friends. Could not be happier! It's recently opened, so I'm coming back soon before everyone discovers this gem.

Yelp
Great Classic Italian food and ambience. My husband had the veal chop which was perfectly cooked. I had the pappardelle pasta with a bolognese. I loved the broccoli rabe-not oily and perfectly done. Comforting and yummy. I especially loved that they don't over salt. Bring your wine and enjoy!

Yelp

Yelp
My dinner club recently went to Adoro and we loved it! Our waiter Charlie was so amazing we look a photo with him! Eggplant parm was perfect and everyone had excellent things to say about their meals. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Our group of nine had a fabulous dinner at Adoro the other evening. The appetizers, salads, and entrees were perfect, and being able to bring our own choices of wines was a bonus. We highly recommend Adoro!

Yelp
Definitely avoid this place and go to another Italian restaurant nearby. The food wasn't great and the vibe is weird with the staff, like someone grabbed a bunch of their friends to be servers with no experience.

Yelp
Absolutely fabulous new Italian restaurant in Queen Village. My husband and I went for my birthday, and our dinner was delicious. The service was spectacular, very attentive. We will definitely be returning!
