4 Restaurants and Bars to Try This Weekend in the San Francisco Bay Area: June 14 | Eater SF

"I’m excited about the new Man Must Wak near Lake Merritt: known for its thorough selection of African and Caribbean ingredients (and admired by chef and James Beard Award winner Pierre Thiam), owner Queenkay Amamgbo is opening a second location at 401 East 18th Street with a grand opening on June 15 from noon to 4 p.m. featuring a ribbon-cutting, a mixer with food and beverages, and shopping; the event is free but asks attendees to RSVP via Eventbrite, and the team says they’re 'well on our way to the best chapter of our story.'" - Dianne de Guzman

Google
Absolutely terrific goat stew with jollof rice. Super tender and no bones, which is rare! Ask them to heat it up for you and bop on over to the lake to eat with a nice view. Super friendly people and great service!

Great new store to the neighborhood but permanent homeless encampment directly across the street makes walking here a safety issue

Google
Great place for special African ingredients like red palm oil or household goods like black soap

Yelp
I popped in today to get the hot Jamaican curry powder, and I knew I'd find it here. At the register there is a sign with a menu of food, and the cashier said they're testing it out, though I don't know the days. I assume it's during the week based or it's on the way. The plantain at the front of the store were perfect for cooking and ready to go. I should have picked some up when I was there, but they have a fair amount of items. I've never had fufu, but the mix for that, lots of frozen whole fish, flour, Nigerian and Jamaican curry powder, etc etc.
