Today, October 17, 2022, I went to buy a Nigerian staple, as I have done at Obichi for about two years. As I approached the counter, the woman briefly laughed at me derisively. After paying, I informed her I was going to use the restroom. I planned to move the two plastic bags close to the restroom door, without actually bringing them inside the restroom. She told me to leave them near the counter, motioning as if nothing will happen to them while I used the restroom, while having a thorough belly-aching laugh at my expense.
Upon leaving the restroom, I approached her to explain my intentions with the bags, and to let her know it wasn't at all funny. She laughed at me one final time and apologized. I grabbed my items and left the store. It'll be my last time at African Obichi Market, as turning your customers into a laughingstock is never a good business model. My Christian faith demands I forgive her, along with loving others enough to report this incident.
Update: after two weeks, they actually took the items I purchased for a full refund. I told them I was returning the items because the woman kept laughing at me. The refund is their saving grace - why they deserve a little more than zero stars.
