Afternoon Tea at The St. Regis D.C.

At first, the food is mediocre, even as compared to the afternoon tea at other St. Regis. Secondly, they ask you to sit in the lobby, and lots of hotel traffic around. Lastly and most importantly disappointing, the service was so bad. The waitress was rude and snobbish, and she only wants to get you pay, and she does not know anything about hospitality and service. Very bad way to spend $109 per person, plus tax and tips.

My Birthday celebration continues with one of my closest and dearest friends. First I love a good cup of tea with scones. From the moment I arrived, I was so in love with this unique and adorable Cherry Blossom Afternoon Tea experience. Filled with such excitement and anticipation, the decor, overall ambience, presentation, assortment of tea sandwiches paired with a delicious cherry blossom tea, and pastries did not disappoint. Everything was absolutely amazing. We ended our afternoon with a surprise presentation of cutting the top off a bottle of champagne 🍾 and given complimentary glasses. Definitely a 10 out of 10 recommend!!!!

We had a wonderful birthday afternoon tea experience at the St. Regis! The location and ambiance are spectacular and we even got to see a beautiful wedding party arrive for their reception! Our server, Gabby, was wonderful and attentive without feeling overbearing. We did't feel rushed at all and had a relaxing afternoon sipping tea and eating delicious treats. They were able to accommodate two guests dietary restrictions and everything was delectable! The strawberry champagne dessert was our favorite! The St. Regis tea blend was also delicious and if they had sold it individually, I believe we all would have bought some. Can't wait to come back for their holiday blend or the Cherry Blossom springtime blend! Highly recommend for a fun girls-afternoon-out!

Everything about this was a yes for me! The service was impeccable, the quaint tables and beautiful China added such a nice touch. Our server was incredible and recommended the St Regis blend, I’m so happy we listened to her! It was absolutely delicious and so were all of the little treats. Everything was edible including the shoe (although I don’t recommend consuming that much chocolate). If you’re a tea lover this is the place to go!

This was my first time doing afternoon tea but I had a great experience! We were celebrating a friends birthday and I made the reservation. I had requested a sign or something to acknowledge that we’re celebrating a birthday and they brought out a small cake with my friends name written on the plate which was really sweet! Our waiter was so kind and friendly the whole time. All the food comes automatically, we just had to each pick the tea we wanted. I went with what the waiter recommended which was the st Regis signature blend black tea. It had hints of orange and floral scents to it. It was so delicious and really sweet which I preferred. For food we were first served the savory items. There was a smoked salmon, lobster bisque and strawberry rhubarb tart. Next they brought out all the pastries that are inspired by the First Ladies as well as scones and dips. Everything was so delicious, especially the scone and lemon cake. I do wish they had more savory items throughout our time there. I also wish they listed which First Lady inspired each pastry that was given. Overall it was an amazing experience and something I definitely want to do again!

I went to brunch for a Christmas Celebration with my best friends at this elegant place and my experience was delightful although our food took almost 1 hour to be delivered at our table. Food and drinks were fine, but definitely service placed a toll in our experience. One of the managers politely apologized for it and we got drinks covered, which was sweet of him.

High tea at the St Regis is a wonderful, special occasion spot. It’s great to celebrate any special event or an elegant place to catch up with friends you haven’t seen in a while. The list of available teas has dramatically shrunk since since Covid. The tea sandwiches, scones and pastries are tasty and if you have allergies the staff is very careful and accommodates your needs. There is an option for children as well (peanut butter and jelly, ham and cheese, and turkey and cheese tea sandwiches). Children also get raspberry tea.

Loved the high tea experience here. We were celebrating a friends birthday and she had the best time and so did we. There were few vegetarians in the group and my friends don’t eat beef. So we were able to customize our food (I added the details during my reservation which really helped and they took care of our needs). The vegetarian options were amazing, and the scones were just out of this world! They were buttery, soft and really really delicious. The tea options are limited but sometimes it’s good to have a smaller menu to choose from. Service was great too. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for high tea. The decor is exceptional and makes you feel like Royal. Must try overall!

We had a lovely experience at the St. Regis for their holiday tea. It was incredibly difficult to book and when we got there, I saw why- tea is served in the hotel lobby and there was a very small number of tables. There was a pretty extensive menu of tea to choose from. We both chose the Christmas blend, which was a blend of red fruits and berries- not the most festive but it was very good and you could tell the tea was excellent quality. The sweets and savories were some of the most beautiful and intricate treats I've ever received at a tea. The tea had a Nutcracker theme this year, and every single part of the sweet tiers was beautifully designed to match- there was a nutcracker sugar cookie, a dark chocolate and peppermint mousse in the shape of a Christmas tree on top of a sable (which came with the cutest chocolate nutcracker!), a sugarplum donut, and an eggnog choux pastry in the shape of a Christmas pudding, as well as the scones. We didn't love the eggnog choux (the filling was pretty boozy), but the rest were excellent. Our favorite honestly may have been the scones- they came with the most incredible cherry jam and lemon curd, in addition to clotted cream. The savory course came first, rather than arriving with the sweets. We were surprised at how generous the portions were for the four items we received, and we really enjoyed each item. Our favorites were the smoked salmon tartine, which was topped with caviar and just excellent, and the delicious mini cheddar quiche. The turkey roulade was also very creative and fun. Each piece was beautifully constructed and presented. This was very close to a five-star experience and certainly felt very special, but it was really hard to justify the $120 per person price. We felt that both servers were strongly encouraging us to order champagne, and they did not come by very frequently after we declined to order champagne, while we saw the tables who did order champagne being served more frequently- that was pretty disappointing. By the end of tea, our pot of tea had gone cold and neither server ever offered to refresh it. Additionally, in past years, each person attending this tea has received a White House Christmas ornament to take home, and we were really disappointed to hear that was not the case this year- we were not told that we would not receive them and had to ask at the end of tea. However, we still had a wonderful experience and would gladly come back.

TLDR: pretty hotel with a great location, but skip the afternoon tea. I had a friends getaway before the holidays at the st Regis. There are two parts to this review: the hotel and the afternoon tea that's offered. The hotel was gorgeous, valet staff were particularly wonderful. The breakfast was good and the location is great. However, our room had almost no natural light. And the check in process was painfully inefficient. That said... The afternoon tea was our selling point for staying here. We were beyond excited - but it fell very flat. We booked via open table (reservations fill up fast, we booked about 6 weeks in advance and availability was still very limited). Tea is held in the lobby. It was nicely decorated for the holidays but we got stuck with a very awkward table outside the elevators - it was about 3 feet wide, we immediately moved our place settings so all three of us were on the same side and could easily talk. Server seemed annoyed, never checked on us. Quite quickly we found ourselves sipping cold tea and just accepting that's that. The whole experience felt so transactional. The food was ok (some shining stars like the cucumber sandwiches, albeit a few duds like the dry cupcakes) and the holiday tea blend was delicious. However, at $120 a person I would not recommend this experience. Sidenote: Perhaps I'm the riff raff they'd like to keep out, but a mid-range sparkling wine would have been appreciated on the menu. The cheapest non-rose bubbles was Moet Chardon at $180... had to laugh at myself as I drank it with a sugar cookie pairing.

I've been to several afternoon tea services at various resorts and hotels around the country (and at the Fairmont Empress Hotel in Victoria, BC), and this was easily the most disappointing one I've had, mostly because of the incredibly steep price point ($120). It comes with 4 savory bites, but there's nothing particularly special or interesting or creative about those bites. I personally don't like asparagus in my cucumber sandwiches. The Christmas sweets were cute but sorely disappointing, again given the $120 price tag. One of the sweets is a sugar cookie, which is fair given it's a Christmas staple, but I think some of the other sweets should've made up for that one's simplicity. The rest of the sweets consisted of a cupcake, a cream puff, and chocolate mousse. There's no way these even remotely warranted a $120 price tag. On top of that, maybe it's just my preference, but I enjoy steeping my tea myself. I also prefer steeping loose tea rather than tea bags. However, they serve the tea pre-steeped. I like making my tea super bitter and dark and looking at the loose leaves. I was disappointed that they took this entire part of tea consumption out of my hands by serving tea kettles with only tea inside. The Christmas vibe in the lobby was cute, but there was very little else going on in terms of ambience. I believe they might've been playing live jazz, but it was only playing in the ballroom for the brunch patrons. We, afternoon tea folks, were only left with echoes of music traveling from the ballroom through to the opposite side of the lobby. Again, there's a thoughtlessness to the experience here. The service was excellent, but I told them it was my birthday and they didn't do anything special. In fact, one of the servers (I believe he was like a host/concierge working the lobby as a whole) offered the table next to me free champagne but didn't do that for me... lol so this leads me to believe this wasn't a great experience for a solo diner like myself. I would absolutely not recommend this afternoon tea. I went to the Willard Intercontinental, and it was a completely opposite experience. Theirs is easily one of the best afternoon tea experiences, and I really felt like the price tag was worth it there.

Atmosphere gorgeous. Staff well trained and attentive. A very lovely hotel with a rich history. Stay 'till 6 pm and you will see a champagne bottle being open with a sword/saber. A tradition of the hotel dating back to, I believe, the original owner's wife to entertain her friends. Tonight, they actually had a guest do it. They gave her a practice bottle in the back, I just happened to see that, and she performed the ceremony in the main lobby. The tea included 4 savory items--a cheddar cheese mini quiche and rolled turkey with cornbread and cranberries tea sandwich--those I liked; a cucumber/asparagus/cheese and salmon with caviar tea sandwiches--I've had better. The sweets were adorable and rich (too rich for me, but not my friend). The scones are well made and served with the traditional lemon curd, raspberry jam, and slotted cream (was too hard, must have been refrigerated too long?). They serve the wonderful French Dammann tea. My friend had his warm and I opted for iced tea that was delicious. They serve Sweet-n-low that I like w/my iced tea and is getting harder to find at restaurants. Because we stayed 'till 6 we were able to enjoy the champagne. All in all a lovely experience that is costly, but a nice Christmas treat. There is valet parking at a reduced price of $29.50 if you go to tea.

This review is solely on private events. Came here for a work party and the staff is wonderful, from the coat check to the bar and food bussers. The hor d'eurves were nice (chicken skewers, crab cake, mushroom arranchinis) and the salad (first course) was maybe the star of the night. It went downhill from there. I have never seen so many unfinished steaks on plates at an event and I'm not surprised, my mouth was sore from chewing halfway through. All steaks were medium-wells. If you were lucky, you had 1-2 bites dead center of the steak that were medium. The devil food cake was slightly dry but it was fine. It was topped with dehydrated berries of sorts and had a cranberry sauce.

While in DC we wanted to enjoy a High Tea Service. Make sure you reserve a time and make sure you're hungry. The service was excellent you will enjoy being treated as guests of the hotel. The tea is served in the hotel lobby so that was interesting. The tea sandwiches were delicious I wish we could have ordered more. Each one prepared perfectly with little touches of edible flowers. The tea was delicious and we were never empty. Now the desserts. To be honest they were the most beautiful little creations you ever saw on a plate. The only problem was they were not as delicious as they looked. The scones came with several spreads you will need them as the scones were as dry as toast. Sorry to say for $100.00 per person. I was disappointed.

I had an amazing experience at the St. Regis afternoon tea. The earl grey tea was good and I also enjoyed the sparking rose wine. The mini sandwiches were really good. They had a couple of different kinds and each one was tasty. My favorite was the pepper crusted angus sirloin. The sweets were delicious too and the presentation was great. Even though each item was small, eating all of them definitely fills you up. The decor was beautiful and the service was great.

First time staying here in DC and it was a lovely stay. The staff here is phenomenal. We got an upgrade to a suite through the Marriott Nightly Upgrade Award. The hotel lobby is very nice and they have a great restaurant and bar. Like other reviews have mentioned, the nightly champagne saber at 6pm is cool to watch and you get a complimentary glass afterwards. The suite was very nice and the bed was comfortable. I loved they had premium toiletries, bathrobes, and slippers as well. Not sure if it's only on the weekend, but they had a singer playing the piano right outside the bar in the lobby. This St. Regis has a really nice complimentary breakfast for Marriott members who are Platinum and above, probably the best of the Marriott hotels we have stayed at. Looking forward to another opportunity to stay here again.

I had an amazing stay at this hotel. The location is great. The entrance and lobby are breathtaking. The hospitality exceeded my expectations. It is the definition of luxury. The rooms are beautiful. The concierge helped out with air and space museum tickets. I appreciated the evening champagne sabering ritual. My #1 hotel in Washington, DC.

I'll accompany this with some pictures soon but I've had brunch here and it was one of the best experiences I've had. Drinks are fresh and given with love. Incredible staff and service but that's typical, especially with the pricing you'll pay.

I had a memorable staycation at The St. Regis DC. When you enter the hotel, you are met with a stunningly decorated Christmas tree and a beautiful lobby. This sets the mood for the holiday season. Unfortunately, there were a several missteps that prevented a five-star experience. CHECK-IN: There was a long line to checkin at 4pm. I didn't mind because it gave me a chance to walk around and explore the hotel. Upon checking in, our bags took more than 30 minutes to be brought to the room. I had to go down to the lobby to retrieve them myself since we needed to get ready for dinner reservations. ROOM: I didn't like the room. I booked a Deluxe room and was upgraded to an Astor room that supposedly came with a butler I never saw. The room faced the inside, overlooking the HVAC units; basically, no view. It had white marble tiling throughout the room and bathroom. It reminded me of a standard modern hotel room with white linens. I was expecting the glam drapery and beddings shown in the photos online. Some may consider this decor dated, but to me, it exudes traditional opulence with classic aesthetics. Only one bathrobe was provided for two people, and the texture was stiff/rough. The slippers provided tore on the first wear. The minibar was locked when I attempted to store leftovers from dinner. I had to request a refrigerator to be brought to the room. PARKING: Valet parking was just total confusion. I was told my car was ready. When we came outside, we had to wait another 10-15 minutes. Valet couldn't find my car, then I was brought the wrong car even though I gave them my ticket (twice). STAFF: I loved that the staff remembered me, some by name. It was a good balance of friendly and professional service. I loved the little touches such as gingerbread cookies at the concierge's desk, evening turn down service, a bottle of Voss water, and chocolates in the room. I was able to stay on my fitness journey using the small but adequate gym in the basement. FOOD & DRINKS: The evening champagne presentation in the lobby was amazing. I got to saber a champagne bottle under the tutelage of Nick, Director of Front Office. That was the highlight of my stay! I also had the afternoon tea (okay) in the lobby, brunch (okay) and dinner (wonderful) at Alhambra, which I'll review in depth separately. Overall, l had a good stay in spite of some shortcomings. I did not have the luxurious experience I expected for the price point. Alhambra Restaurant, the daily evening champagne, the staff, and the location did the heavy lifting.

We were in DC for a wedding and had a wonderful stay at the St. Regis! First off you can't beat how beautiful and historic the hotel is. I also loved how close it was to walk to the White House (literally across the street). From the valet, to the front desk, to room service, everyone was super friendly. When we checked in we were told all about the history of the St Regis and how every day to mark the transition of day to night they saber a bottle of champagne in the lobby. The groom of the wedding we were with even got to saber the bottle the night before his wedding! It was so fun and I just love a fancy tradition. Afternoon Tea is my favorite meal ever so I knew I had to give their's a try. Admittedly this is probably one of the more expensive afternoon teas I've done, but it did not disappoint. We also learned that every St Regis has their own blend of tea. The St Regis blend here was freaking delicious. I was so disappointed when I couldn't get it at breakfast the next day. You can literally only get it through the Afternoon Tea service, such a bummer. I loved that the tea tray was Washington DC themed, just made for a unique touch. The room itself was lovely as well and the bed was super comfortable. Room service was great and while expensive, it did not disappoint. We had breakfast in the restaurant and also attended a cocktail party at the bar. I know the reviews seem to be mixed here, but my husband and I had a lovely experience each step of the way. I would certainly stay here again!

The St. Regis hotel is beautiful but the overall tea service was average. I adored the savory pastries (each of them were fantastic), but each of the sweets being offered were overly sweet and because there were so many more sweets than savory, it wasn't my favorite experience. As a side note, I wish they noted on the OpenTable reservation that the $89pp is before tax and tip.

We enjoyed staying at the St. Regis recently. Service in unparalleled and it's gorgeous. Rooms are spacious and clean. The lobby is gorgeous and bar is inviting! At 6 o'clock every night they have a champagne ceremony where they saber champagne to honor the changing of day tonight as per Mrs. Astor. This is a really cool ceremony to witness and be a part of. We enjoyed the bar we went each night we were there once for drinks the second time just for tea, and the service was great both times. We can't wait to return it was truly magical!

The St.Regis afternoon tea is an appalling embarrassment to hotel management. It was also a sad joke on the two adults and two excited young teens, served four very average finger sandwiches and 6 sweets each, with tea (and no, no champage) at a cost of $560. Plus $30 parking. The St. Regis decor is 1890s brothel, seasoned with wandering tipsy customers from the nearby lobby bar. This experience would make Mrs. Astor weep.

The hospitality is overwhelming at this hotel, and it was incredibly impressive. I traveled here for work and needless to say, it's the best place I've stayed in DC so far! The concierge and front desk team is helpful and kind, and the front doormen are courteous and fast! The turndown service was such a fun treat every night, I can't wait to come back!

I was able to observe the saber champagne ceremony at 6 pm which was divine.

The St Regis High Tea gets a "wow" on all fronts. The service was impeccable - we were a party of 4 (2 young girls and moms). From beginning to end, the staff treated us like royalty! The food was whimsical & fun - and the tea options were plentiful and delicious. Add in some champagne and call it perfection! We were there for over 2 hours and had an absolutely wonderful time. A huge thanks to Nicholas & team for making this a truly memorable and fabulous experience!!

Afternoon tea experience wasn't too great! So we booked this reservation weeks in advance, excited to add the St. Regis Afternoon tea experience to our "repertoire" of gallivanting around the DC high end hotels. However, the customer service was unfortunately very inconsistent. Our main server was very inattentive towards us compared to the other surroundings tables, and seemed to avoid our table altogether towards the end of our experience. This may have stemmed from when my mom first arrived (on time), however 20 mins prior to my own late arrival, and the server told my mom that she could not serve her until I arrived, which is customary. However, the server then lied to my mom and said that she has up to an hour to an hour and half, to enjoy the experience. Typically, tea experiences are usually up to 2hrs, unless otherwise stated. My mom promptly corrected the server of this time discrepancy, and the server immediately backtracked on her words. Also, my mom overheard the same server tell another lady, who was already seated and who was also waiting for the rest of her party, "no worry...no rush, we'll serve everyone when they arrive". After I arrived, my mom then had to walk over to the reception desk (as our server was nowhere to be found) and asked someone if we could have a different seat as our seats by the window, near the revolving door, was very drafty, and the actual table between us was extremely large, therefore we were seated at an awkward distance from one another. Shortly there after, the afternoon tea hostess (?) approached my mom and actually started to fuss at my mom, exclaiming that she gave my mom a choice of where to sit in the beginning (btw, the 3 seats that were offered were all by a window, near the main door of the lobby). Additionally, my mom recently had shoulder surgery, so the cold draft aches her shoulder. Thankfully, another server and team member from reception desk graciously offered to rearrange our seating, so we could sit closer to one another and slightly away from the window. My mom also politely had a word with the hostess (?) regarding her approach, and surprisingly, the hostess now went out of her way to be cordial and even acknowledged her impropriety, which we truly appreciated. So St. Regis'...compared to other tea experiences in the area, was extremely lacking, as the some desserts were dry, the tea was served luke warm, and our server seemed low key passive aggressive. For $99/pp plus tax and additional cost for a glass of champagne, I unenthusiastically recommend this experience, however, I have feeling that our experience could have been exponentially better if we had a different server...and hopefully the afternoon tea staff learns to treat every patron with the same respect, attention, and courtesy.

This place does really well with kids, we arrived with the baby under 1yrs old, and while we checked in she was presented with a little bald eagle stuffed animal that was branded St. Regis; they also switched our room right then so we could have one with a bath option (easier with kids). Staff was all super helpful and friendly all along the way and the baby loved running around and hugging the soft bed. I thought it would be noisier in that part of town, and maybe it's cause we were facing in and didn't have much of a view, but it was so very quiet; just really perfect. Room service was pretty great although the call service button to retrieve the food didn't seem to work, I'd say that's pretty minor. The attached restaurant Alhambra was fantastic (even for vegetarians) and again they were super helpful and friendly with the baby. Overall the hotel is a really nice location for touring DC, and it's a good place to start and finish your "Mall Crawl" or for this trip just a nice space to crash for a birthday good time for mom.

Afternoon tea review only!! Recently went for afternoon tea (finally! one of the only teas in the area I haven't been to!!). It was a really good tea. Being right outside the White House, it is presidential themed and they have very impressive sculpted white chocolate White Houses topping the tiered tea serving plates (no, you can't eat it). That was a very cool touch & a great photo opp. When you enter, tea is served to the left at the low tables in the lobby. It is a lovely setting. The staff were great & very accommodating to both my friend's young daughter and our requests for additional tea, clotted cream, etc. Not stingy or tacking on charges like some places. Tea is $69 though, so you're paying for this fine service. If you're there until 5, the piano player starts playing. They did not have as large a selection of teas as some places but the black teas I tried were very good (earl grey; house blend). Savories are served first on their own plate, followed by the scones and sweets on the tiered stand. I prefer scones to be served first, warm, so that is probably my main complaint- no warm scones. You do get two scones each though which is nice. Everything was delicious. The tea sandwiches were really good & all a bit elevated from your normal tea sandwiches. The egg salad was served as a tart with crab on top. The smoked salmon was topped with caviar, etc. The desserts were also excellent- each was themed around a president & they explained each flavor to us. My favorite was the coconut cream puff that was the Ronald Reagan one, which pained me cause I hate Ronald Reagan a lot LOL. Just a really pleasant and delicious experience all around. Some tips- you have to make reservations way in advance. Parking is Valet only which is $22 (we had to call to ask this). There was plenty of street parking when I went on a Saturday, so that was the better option for me. They were also happy to split the check for us.

Overall: the experience was a 4/5. I loved the atmosphere of the hotel, which had lovely European style ceilings, and gold edgings everywhere. The seating was all unique furniture pieces. Since we were at a table of two, we were seated by the window on beautiful red couches and giant drapes. My one complaint is the table was extremely small, so much so that when the tower came out, we had to rearrange our teacups and plates. The view of the street was gorgeous and sunlight poured in from the windows. The doormen, concierge, and valet were all extremely courteous. Valet is $22 if you are having tea or visiting the restaurant or bar. The tea is $69 for the experience, prior to tax. It is a set menu. Food: 4/5. There were four mini sandwiches to start. The sandwiches were honestly extremely standard but it ranged in taste. The angus beef was extremely high quality, and the salmon sandwich was a tad salty for my taste. Desserts: 5/5. wow! These were incredible. The blueberry cheesecake was my favorite. Overall, a ton of attention to detail in regards to presentation of the desserts. Unfortunately, the White House made of white chocolate on our dessert tower had a bite taken out of it... even though the server said it was for decoration only.

We had the most amazing time at the St. Regis! Friendly staff that was accommodating, thoughtful and prepared. We came to celebrate our ten year anniversary and was tight on time to get to the game. They allowed us an early check in and when we returned, we had drinks and snacks at their amazing bar! Finally, they invited us to the 6pm champagne sabering where we enjoyed a glass after they let me saber the bottle! We celebrated and ended the night at their restaurant with wonderful Mediterranean food. Their late night menu is wonderful as well as their breakfast. We will definitely be returning. Shout out to our incredible receptionist, Mei!

This review is for the Afternoon Tea. I thought it was just ok...nothing spectacular, pretty average. The food was good; again not spectacular. My friends had the St. Regis special tea blend, which I think was the better choice than mine. I chose the Vert du Japon, which either was very light or not steeped enough. We enjoyed ourselves and were pleasantly surprised when at 6:00 pm they had a Champagne Saber ceremony and gave complimentary champagne to all the guests in the lobby. Had we known that, we would have skipped buying a bottle during the tea, which was incredibly overpriced! $140 for a bottle that probably cost $30. But we came for the experience. I just expected more for such an elegant hotel. I thought our recent tea at the Salamander far exceeded this one. Still fun though.

I'm quite aggravated. I'm a guest at the St. Regis this weekend. I went to the restaurant tonight for just myself to eat. I was told they are fully booked but I could eat in the bar which I am fine with. The problem I have is the menu isn't the same. Who wants to eat sandwiches for dinner? The bar is right next to the restaurant but they won't accommodate. What has happened to the St. Regis brand?! Also I left for brunch today and came back during their tea thing. The maids were cleaning my room so I went back down to the lobby to wait. There was nowhere for Me to sit because of the high tea thing. They should leave at least one common area clear for guests left open. It's so inconsiderate. When you stay at nice hotels like this it's the little things that make the difference. Otherwise you might as well stay at a Holiday Inn.

Had the opportunity to enjoy the Cherry Blossom tree. Great service, and the snacks were great. The savory items were delicious, and I enjoyed the sweets. I have tried several teas around DC and so far, this would be #2, with the Willard being #1 so far. Looking forward to trying the 4 Seasons next.

My husband and I were directed here by our hotel since our hotel bar was packed and noisy. This night at the St. Regis bar was wonderful. There was soft jazz playing in the background of this beautiful hotel bar. Stephane was our server. He was attentive, friendly, and respectful. We ordered Vesper martinis that were perfect - $$$ too $30 each! We later ordered the St. Regis Burger and Mergerz (lamb sausage) both very good; however, the lamb did not sit well with me later). We returned the next night for our "Friday martini" ritual and found to our disappointment the bar very busy and loud, but we found seats and settled in. A pianist and singer performed in the hotel lobby. Stephane was our server again and we had another great night.

This review is for the fabulous dining experience at the restaurant Alhambra. waitstaff - professional , polite, and efficient. Food- delectable, my order consisted of Moms babek, branzino, and the delicious basque cheesecake. The lobby at The St. Regis is stunning.

During our stay, we enjoyed a relaxed weekend exploring some of the most iconic landmarks in the city. From the White House to the National Mall, Lincoln Memorial, Tidal Basin, and World War II Memorial, we were able to take in the sights on foot. The hotel's proximity to the Smithsonian Museum and upscale fine dining establishments made it even more convenient to explore. One of our favorite dining experiences was at the Alhambra Mediterranean restaurant, which had a great ambiance and delicious food. We were also pleasantly surprised by the healthy breakfast options available at the hotel, such as Steel Cut Oat, Almond Milk with Coffee, Avocado Toast, Sliced Avocado, with wheat and sourdough break options. The Premier City View King bedroom was incredibly spacious, and the bed was one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in. Room service was also quick, and we appreciated the ample supply of water bottles and delicious in-room coffee. Overall, our stay at the St. Regis Washington D.C. was nothing short of amazing, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking to visit the city. We can't wait to return and experience the luxurious accommodations and unparalleled service again.

Visited the St. Regis bar for a drink with a friend and so enjoyed the classic ambiance of their bar! Beautifully decorated with elegantly constructed cocktails worthy of the location!

Galentine's tea exceeded expectations. I was a bit worried given some of the reviews, but we had great customer service, very friendly waitress, and the tea, sandwiches, and pastries were delicious. We also took part in champagne sabering, and got a free glass.

I've stayed at the St Regis several times in the past year, and each time has been a treat. The rooms are well-appointed. Beds are comfortable, and bathrooms aren't cramped. The butlers are helpful but unobtrusive. Call for morning coffee service 94 a bucket of ice for your champagne. C the HVAC doesn't shut off in the middle of the night! Bar service can be slow, but if Nicolai is on duty, he will take excellent care of you. Alhambra, the restaurant, is good for breakfast/brunch. I haven't had tea (weekends only) yet, but it looks lovely. Make sure to be in the lobby for the nightly 6pm champagne sabering - always a show!

Luxury Hotel, spectacular!. Outstanding customer service. Elegant, classy, beautiful hotel. l I felt like princess or First Lady For me is one of the best hotels in the world. Extraordinary Mediterranean culinary and drinks!. St. Regis Bar is just beautiful, few blocks north of the White House. You can also book a First Ladies room where you can enjoy decoration inspired by the likes of Louisa Adams, Angelica Van Buren and other former first ladies of the United States. I wish I can lived here!. So special hotel!. I will Never forgot this hotel.

We went here for afternoon tea and were not disappointed. There was a mixup about our reservation, but we were still accommodated. We had a nice table in the lobby by the window. It was great to people watch. Also the presentation of the tea service was excellent. We had a great time. This will be my go-to spot for tea whenever I am in Washington DC. Enjoy the pics and if you go, remember- the White House model isn't edible! Lol

A gorgeous setting for afternoon tea. Unlike most afternoon teas in the DC area, you can make reservations throughout the afternoon rather than two large sittings. This made the experience much more enjoyable and felt exclusive. The current theme is US First Ladies. The themed desserts were whimsical and fun. I highly recommend the St. Regis signature tea. It is a classic black tea with a twist. Very flavorful and delicious. Our server was attentive and sweet. The serving sizes are typical of an afternoon tea and I left feeling satisfied. The savory items were tasty but I would have preferred one seafood item rather than two, then perhaps another meat or veggie sandwich. All in, it was a lovely day.

Feb 2024, My husband and I had the pleasure of visiting this hotel for the 2nd time. The lobby are was decorated with warm inviting red accents. As I started the check-in process Mr. Deric called me by name, and check in was a breeze. I had to pinch myself, because I was lucky to be assigned the Astor Suite again. The hallways were pristine and the room was magnificent. There's a full bath and a half bath. The showers were better than the ones I have at home. Great water pressure and beautiful tile surrounds you. Whenever you're leaving or returning, you're always greeted by the doorman. I also saw Ms. Donna, she called me by name and remembered our previous stay. She's very special and no trip would be complete without her being there. I also met Mr. Sherif (Bellman) he's very friendly and helpful and congratulations to Mr. Gebre recently promoted to doorman. The first person I saw coming in and the last one when I left. He is amazing and courteous. Last but not least, Mr. Deric. He welcomed me by name and made my reservations. He also had to call me back after I accidentally cancelled the reservations he help make earlier. I was panicking because it was an extremely busy weekend and rooms were selling out quickly. Mr Deric saved the day. I just love our stay here. It's like visiting friends all over again. I didn't want to check out and wish I was back there now. Thank you St. Regis for having personable, friendly, and kind staff. It makes a huge difference. See you again very soon!

Wow. We made a business/pleasure trip out here and being a Marriott member, we decided to stay here. Hands down the best hotel. Ever. ALLLL of the staff are extremely friendly and outgoing. The art and architecture is incredible. The bar is great! They do a Saver champagne bottle opening each night! We took a art of Sabrage class and it was so much fun! Hands down, this is one of my favorite hotels! We will be back!!

Disappointing. The hotel is near the White House so you hear chants and shouts from protests all day long. Its maddening. The decor is supposed to be elegant and luxurious, but instead its dated. The interior and the rooms need a facelift to be brought into the 21st century. Service is not what you eould expect from a St Regis. Noone acknowledges you or offers to help with luggage. Noone offers you a seat at check in. Room isnt ready when you arrive. Noone offers you a water. Ive had better customer service at the Residence Inn. Positive- The hotel hosts an afternoon tea which many families seemed to be enjoying. Location would be great if it werent for all the protests. Would not stay here again.

*This review is for afternoon tea only. Our visit was in June for my birthday. My husband made a reservation few weeks in advance after seeing a fellow dog mom visit with her dog. We were under the impression that this hotel was very dog friendly and had separate dog menu which seemed to be the case with a fellow dog mom's experience. The very first time I was put off was when we called for reservation. We let the person know that we will be bringing our dog. She responded that was okay as long as the dog doesn't bark. I said okay but found her response to be very strange. For a dog friendly hotel, you don't allow dogs that bark? Lol I didn't have a big issue as our dog happens to be on the quiet side but still felt annoyed with her response. On the day of the visit, we were seated right away and our server was attentive. Our White House white chocolate decor was underwhelming compared to the display they have available during the cherry blossom tea. The food and dessert was also a bit underwhelming. Some items tasted a bit soggy too. There was a bit of wait to pay for valet as other hotel patrons were in line. Also the bathroom is quiet a hike. I don't recommend afternoon tea here unless it's during the cherry blossom time!

I came for the cherry blossom tea experience. Literally my only complaint would be price - tea is $89, but after adding ONE glass of wine and gratuity, you're paying $150- yes for one person and you only get one of each offering (4 one-bite desserts, 1 scone, 4 small sandwiches). Even if you're paying for experience/ambiance, thats robbery lol I must say out of all the teas I've attended the St Regis provided the BEST food.. the offerings were quality and delicious (i normally dislike the sweets, but these were unique to fit the theme and well-done. I was very happy with my choice of the cherry blossom white tea (limited time only). My waitress Gabi was sweet and checked on me just enough where i didn't feel looked over nor did i ever feel rushed. I appreciated that. The space was beautiful and the cherry blossom tree provided was too cute. If i were to SPLURGE on a tea again, I think I'd repeat the St Regis.

Review for Cherry Blossom Tea I've been to afternoon tea and high tea at many boutiques and hotels in the area and believe this one was solid for the price and experience. Aesthetically, it was a 5/5. Went for the Cherry Blossom tea and everything was gorgeous, including a special tree used to serve some of the treats. The Location was a 4/5. Tea was served in the lobby, which is gorgeous, but on cool days is extremely drafty and cold- especially if you're seated anywhere near the door which is the hotel's main entrance. The Food was a 4/5. All beautifully presented and cherry blossom themed. The savories were excellent but the pastries (while very pretty) didn't have a lot of flavor. They did not taste old by any means- just like they had been made a couple days ago. You are also given many treats so you will leave full! The Tea options were 5/5. Solid variety. If your tea runs cold they will actually take away the tea pot and brew a fresh one which is nice. The Service was 3.5/5. I believe they may have been a little short staffed. The timing of service either felt very slow or rushed. Overall impressions: great photo opportunity. Everything is beautiful and picture perfect. The snacks are solid and plentiful. The cherry blossom tea is also a good value for the price compared to others in the area. If it's going to be a cold day request a table away from the door!

Four ladies enjoyed a very lovely Christmas Tea. The sandwiches were very tasty, the scones (cranberry and chocolate chip) were excellent and they were served with delicious lemon curd, strawberry jam and real Devonshire cream. The sweets were our least favorite course with very crunchy and dry cookies being the largest item and a raspberry frangipane that should've had the seeds removed. The mini eclair and napoleon made up for those two items with their flaky perfection. The tea itself was very good - with a fragrant house blend and a beautiful Darjeeling being our favorites. Tea is served in the lobby which is very luxurious with lots of gilt and a carved and painted ceiling. Seating was comfortable and spaced far enough apart that you don't have to listen to other diners' conversations. Valet parking service is excellent they are quick and courteous. We were presented a beautiful limited edition ornament as a keepsake at the end of our Tea. A wonderful holiday experience!

The service at this hotel was absolutely what you hope to receive from a nice hotel but don't always receive. We received a special dessert sent up when they heard it was my son's birthday-including chocolate chip cookies and milk for the boys. The concierge helped get us a table at a restaurant that was booked when we rolled into town without any reservations. It was countless things like this that really made us feel well-taken care of. A special thank you to the concierge, Jeff. He went out of his way for us.

One can only fall in love with the beauty and grandeur of this property.The lobby is spectacular and straight out of a fairy tale nothing inside the property matches up to the charm. I have stayed at various suites the metropolitan, Caroline Astor and the st Regis suite. Each suite has a different decor and is aesthetically pleasing. The breakfast at Alhambra is delicious there's also afternoon tea, an evening champagne ceremony, jazz music on weekends lots to keep one entertained. located two blocks from the white house you can pretty much walk to the national mall. Definitely the best address in DC. However I do have some mixed feelings a lot goes on in the lobby while the guests are waiting to check in the high tea is served there as well. Some staff members are friendly and go above and beyond to meet the needs of the guests others are completely clueless I guess a lot of the staff is confused if you are a guest of the hotel or just loitering in the lobby. On many occasions especially while waiting for my car in the lobby area I found them not greeting me or offering to help other guests (minor detail but it seemed to bother me) The suites have butler service which was also a hit or miss. I think one thing this particular St Regis can work on is consistency ,the brand is known to hold very high standards for customer service which I have experienced at various other properties. I came for afternoon tea with some girlfriends and it was an amazing time! All the treats are delicious, both savory and sweet. It is on the pricier side for a girl's day out ($79 without the champagne) but it's well worth it for the ambiance. The hotel is just stunning and it's an all around fun experience getting dressed up to enjoy tea time in their lobby!

This review is for the afternoon tea service. The tea is held at small tables in the lobby of the hotel. The space is beautiful. It seemed very understaffed. Our server was delightful but seemed to be doing far more than could be done by one person. We were in a hurry and enjoyed our time just lounging. We had the exclusive black tea. Enjoyed both the sweet and savory offerings. Would return!
