I felt the food and drink were both mediocre. 3 of us total and the table ordered Roasted Cheese appetizer, Chips & Salsa (because when you dine at a Mexican spot Chips and Salsa are a must), Elote, Mahi Tacos, Chicken Quesadilla, and Birria. I didn't get photos of food because I wasn't seated when it hit the table so I missed the opportunity. We also ordered the Paloma grapefruit drink off happy hour menu, the margarita orale? I think that was the name...and an Amber Agave beer. The roasted cheese app was decent with peppers and onions inside. It was nice and warm and stretchy and flavorful but truthfully I wish they had mixed it all up because the cheeses were different textures and as you dug into the bowl, you'd get a mixture of stretchy cheese, watery (liquidy like) cheese and clumpy cheese and then after it cooled a bit, the cheese on top just kinda became a hard piece that needed to be cut instead of dipped into. It tasted good but it's just my observation of texture. The Chips and Salsa...for me, this needs to shine. I like my chips on the thinner side with a good crisp, lightly dusted with salt and fresh out of the hot grease. Their chips were a bit on the thicker side, no flavor and didn't taste house made. Maybe they are...maybe we got an older batch. They didn't hit AT ALL but the salsa should save the day right? NOPE...the salsa (red one and a green one) were both meh. The green one was just not it! No one at the table liked the green one...the red was SLIGHTLY better than the green but lacked severely in the pico/salsa department. Just wasn't good at all. I happen to LOVE LOVE CHIPS AND SALSA so I was looking forward to having this and it was a bit disappointing. The Elote...also meh. But then I honestly never met an Elote I truly enjoyed. I feel it would taste SO MUCH BETTER if they used sweet corn. Imagine piping hot, crisp, sweet corn topped with these ingredients!!! I almost wanna try it out at home just to see how it hits. Sweet corn is where it's at! Now The tacos were better. They were fresh tasting but LAWD!! I'm pretty sure I paid about $14 bucks for two of the smallest tacos I've ever seen and then the Mahi inside was two tiny pieces smaller that my pink finger in length, and thin. The ingredients inside were fresh and pretty good though they weren't loaded with flavors. I'm still tripping on how small they were though. Very tiny!!! The flavors...Pretty cut and dry with nothing that stood out or made me go WOW! But they were decent and fresh...well mine were. My sister also ordered the Mahi tacos and she couldn't finish hers because her pieces of fish were very fishy tasting. She was gagging. But she did eat her quesadillas and said they were okay. My cousin ordered the Birria. Now I don't eat Birria but I've seen it before at different places in my dining adventures and I must say I've never seen Birria look like this. The sauce was watery and looked nearly see through and not deep red but more of a pinkish color and I saw pieces of maybe diced onion or something floating at the top. When my niece gets this dish and another spot, the Birria sauce looks deep red and greasy and when she dips her taco, the taco looks a red. But this sauce didn't do that. My cousins taco just looked wet when she dipped with no color. She didn't seem to be enjoying them at all. This place had a decent crowd. It was almost full to capacity and had a very nice vibe but I think it was very mediocre. The inside is pretty though with "dia de Los muertos" style art on the wall and skeleton hanging lights overhead.
Our drinks were not good at all! They looked very pretty but tasted watered down and flavorless. I had two different margaritas and both were blah. My cousin had the Paloma grapefruit drink which she returned for another drink. Our waitress was knowledgeable and made suggestions and was pretty descriptive when describing items that we were curious about. She was also patient and kept a smile on her face even when I noticed someone was not being very polite to her. She wasn't phased and continued to be pleasant. Our check was about $90 plus dollars which I found pretty impressive as we usually rack up a $180-200 tab at other spots so that was a plus.
