The building is beautiful. It was clean, nicely cool and very organized but, the customer service was superb. Very friendly, knowledgeable and fun people. All my needs were met from faxing documents to getting a library card. Highly recommend!

Google
The most bare library I've ever been to.. All the book shelves are half empty. There's hardly anywhere to sit, unless you're using a computer. Not a very comfortable atmosphere. The staff was kind of hesitantly friendly.

Google
Great library to visit, best place for kids with lots of activities and books!!! Lots of DVDs and books. The employees at the library are wonderful, she guided us with book dropping, seeds that can be collected from the library and also with other programs at the library. Amazing staff and a great library to visit!!!

Agave has plenty of parking and is always clean and organized inside. The staff is friendly and willing to assist. Comfortable atmosphere. Plenty of material and nice childrens area.

My girls love coming to this library at least once every two weeks. They pick out tons of books, we read them all together, at least twice. Our library day is something we all look forward to through the week. I also pick up some good reads!🤩 I love the fact you can check out everything yourself, the kiddos can even scan the books themselves! If your ever in need of help they're always there to help in a kind manner. We have never had a single problem here. This library is perfection. 💕

Google
The library staff is very kind. There are not many books in the library, but the environment is very good and suitable for reading.

Google
Nice library at north of Phoenix, the children section is nice and they have a lot of choices, is my favorite place to take my kiddos to read

Google
I THINK THE STAFF IS UNWELCOMING….THEY USUALLY KEEP IT SO COLD THAT ITS HARD TO STAY THERE FOR FEW MINUTES. THE WORST ONE IS THE SECURITY STAFF….HE STANDS ON YOUR FACE AND LOOK AT YOU AS IF YOU ARE A CRIMINAL.

Yelp
Really wonderful library! It is easy to find, plenty of parking, and huge! Little area with books for sale and plenty of things for young children to play with. My almost 15 month old absolutely had a blast. They also have lots of computers to work on, a study room, an exclusive teen area. Really have a large variety here and everything is well marked and easy to find. Lots of options for culture passes as well. We will definitely be returning.

Yelp
I came here to print some paperwork. The print machine only took cash, which I only carry a card. The lady behind the desk kindly printed my paperwork for free.

Yelp
We are new to the Phoenix Library, with the Agave location being closest to us. It's a little small, but more than makes up for it's size with it's offerings and the library staff is so kind and SO excited to share what they have going on. My elementary aged kids are big fans of their Wizards of STEAM program on Thursday afternoons, we like to stop in for that and pick up some books while we are there. The app is super useful for placing books on hold, you can place a hold on any book in the PHX library system and pick it up at your preferred location. We've also taken advantage of their cultural passes - they offer free admission for two to a variety of places in the Phoenix and Tucson area (Desert Botanical Gardens, Boyce Thompson Arboretum, PHX Museum of Art to name just a few). Last, but by far my favorite, is the ebook collection. I'm a huge reader and their ebook collection is one of the best I've experienced. I used to pay for an out of state Brooklyn Library card for access to their collection, but the Phoenix collection might be even better. Huge fan of libraries in general and PHX/Agave are top notch.

Yelp
Very organized and clean. Love the kids area and the teen area. A lot of areas to work by yourself.

Yelp
The staff was very helpful and the services provided there are great too. Plenty of books to browse and computers to use.

Yelp
5 stars because I just found out this library is near where I live! Also after reading the reviews it seems that they are on top of enforcing a nice QUIET library as ALL libraries should be. If they let small children cause a disturbance in this LIBRARY then I would never visit. Good job kicking out the parents who choose not to quiet their kids.

Yelp
This location has sadly been stripped down to curbside service, which makes me regret the times I went inside and felt it was too small of a library. The manga section may not be as big as the one in the Burton Library, but these 5 stars go to the friendly librarians helping out with curbside delivery, and my fond memories of a library I can no longer go into. Curbside delivery is quick, convenient and easy.

Yelp
I am so disappointed. We have frequented this library over the last few years, and have been in a few times since they have opened back up. Today, my three year old with autism who won't wear a mask was not allowed in. My son, my one year old daughter and I were asked to leave. We were there 2-3 weeks ago and before that about 1-2 months ago... he didn't wear a mask for those visits and it wasn't a problem. If his age was a little younger, it wouldn't have mattered. The city has their priorities I guess. Access to books isn't as important for my son as him having a mask on as a 3 year old.

Yelp
I've lived nearly for 5 years and never knew there was a library nearby. I went here on Saturday to check it out and was pleasantly surprised. I checked out 5 movies, you can keep it for 3 weeks. One thing I noticed that stuck out was the "seed library " section. I saw couple ladies standing in front of it discussing their garden. They tell me these are seeds donated by an organization. You can get 3 seeds every 3 weeks! Oh wow! My husband is a gardener so I picked up arugula, beans and Chile peppers. They have display of various seeds and according to the librarian they stock daily. My husband will sign up for card too so we can get 3 more. Hehe. Overall, I thought library was quaint. Yes it's small but it's nice to have one in the neighborhood.

Yelp
Great library. Staff is friendly, everything is well kept, clean and organized. There is a small kids play area, and now that it's back open, it was quite noisy today. Other than that, it's a great little library

Yelp
This library is great for my needs as a mom with the fun decor including a play area and a really unique "tee-pee" style story time room for the little ones. I used to go at least once a week with my son when he was a baby and then a toddler. The story time is so much fun especially for the little ones because they include toy shakers, blocks and more! Great for internet/wifi and a spot for students to study.

Yelp
Was back yesterday for the first time in a little while. As always the staff was helpful with a problem I encountered. The working area is bright and rarely have I waited to use a computer there. Don't have children but saw a friend that area one day and visited with her a few minutes. The play area for children seem like a nice idea. They can be noisy, but in the scheme of things am guessing it is a real service to families.

Yelp
I feel so lucky to have this library so close to home. I like to go read their magazines and sip my ice tea, so relaxing. Very clean and neat too.

Yelp
I prefer this library over Juniper library. I love how spacious it is and the selection of books. The only reason why I gave it a three stars was like another reviewer said, my child was also shushed at the kids play area. I took my 2 year old there to get some books and to play at the play area they had. He was a bit excited and kept handing me books and laughing. The security lady came over and shushed him and told me he was being too loud when we weren't even there for 10 minutes. He wasn't even shouting. I ended up picking him up and leaving right there, with his temper tantrum echoing louder then his excited voice. They have a door near the play area that you go into the another room that is more carpeted and away from the main library, why couldn't they put the play area there if they know kids voices will echo. We live closer to the one on cave creek and tatum now so we don't visit this location anymore, but when I do get a chance to come here, its usually just me.

Yelp
I took my 8-year-old niece today, and we had a blast! There are so many resources here, and we "checked out seeds to plant. There's so much here and we loved it. The librarian are nice and helpful, and it was fun exploring. Two enthusiastic thumbs way up

Yelp
I go here for the kids section. The library itself isn't huge but it gets the job done. Everyone working was nice and helpful and there's lots of areas for sitting. They have a seed exchange which I love

Rachael K.

Yelp
Love this library. Five stars for their progressive ideas to evolve their services in response to the pandemic. I love this library more now than ever due to all of the creative ideas they have come up with to keep families entertained with books, educational activities, "movie kits" and other little perks that are easy to drive up, request and leave. I hope they always keep these new features because it is SO convenient and we have come to appreciate it as part of our weekly routine. This would have been a life saver when I often felt on "lockdown" before the pandemic as it often felt like too much of an ordeal when kiddos are younger. This library saved my sanity during the lockdown. Great job Agave Phoenix Public Library!!

Yelp
I agree with other reviews that there should not be a play area for children if you expect them to act like statues and make zero noise. They kicked out my 2 year old and I. I'll definitely never go back. Very rude people. Even after I left the building and explained that I would wait outside for my minor daughter that was in speech therapy in one of their reservered rooms, they called security on me. Of course, we were sitting quietly so he just looked at us and walked away.

Yelp
An airy literary oasis with great programs and resources. Watch ror guest speakers and children's events.

Yelp
In the field of architecture, the Modern Era refers to the time period when designers produced buildings that were supposed to be timeless. Ideally these structures were to have a very functional form with their sharp angles and use of common materials. Post-Modernism, as a design school, exists to playfully mock the "serious" designs of the Modern Era. Agave Library is the perfect example of everything that is wrong with Post-Modernism. Verging away from the "form meets function" philosophy of the Modern Era, the Agave library is the least functional building I have ever seen. It is all concrete, exposed air ducts, and wires which would be fine except every noise echoes like a gong throughout the "quiet" area. The study rooms are comprised of glass walls, small round tables, and hard multi colored plastic chairs. They are laughably inadequate for hours of studying: the tables are not large enough to hold both a textbook and a laptop and the chairs are so uncomfortable for long periods of time. There are rows of tables for studying, but there aren't enough outlets for laptop users. The book collection is tiny compared to bigger branches like Juniper. However, I really like the interlibrary loan service. It allows Phoenix Library users to rent books from any library and have them sent to any convenient branch. I really wish the City of Phoenix would refrain from trying to make a statement with every public structure. Modernism and even Post-Modernism can be done in a tasteful way that is appropriate for a public building.

Yelp
This is a very nice library! It's on the smaller side,in my opinion, but we enjoy coming here. They offer multiple times throughout the week for children to attend baby time or story time! It's also a plus that you can renew and check availability of books online!

Erin E.

Yelp
I've had it with this library. If the children's area isn't for playing, then the toys and play space need to be removed. Every child in the play area was shushed today, including two year olds squealing with excitement (completely age appropriate behavior for a play space in the children's section of a library). Not one child was behaving inappropriately, yet all were reprimanded by the security guard and several librarians. This has happened on several occasions and made me question my parenting...seeing it from an outsiders perspective today cleared things up for me. I've also been reprimanded by having children's snacks in my large diaper bag (not being eaten).

Yelp
This is the library closest to my house, I remember when it was first built. It's very spacious inside, with sort of that modern artsy warehouse vibe that I'm whatever about. You really have to be quiet, otherwise it feels like sound will echo loudly. I mainly come in here just to pick up held books and leave, but I once had to print some paperwork and found the staff helpful in that. Also, it's a Pokemon GO gym.

Yelp
Friendly people. books are transfered quicky from other libraries in town, nice IT infrastructure to download ebooks and find information on-line. Another great example of the services the City of Phoenix provides. Great library!

Yelp
I haven't been to this library in years and just my luck I decide to come take my one year old. The lady sushed her!!!! She's one!! Never have I ever been sushed at the library- hello you have a kids 'play' area. I understand library voices and am aware it is not a playground by any means but wow. Sorry to say we will not be back.
google avatar

Yelp
I agree with Beth. The building looks kind of cool, has plenty of snazzy neon signs and architectural "enhancements" - but it really isn't a well-designed library. If you like to browse some fiction and then non-fiction, with a trip to the computers (aka "card catalog") in between - you feel like your bouncing around a warehouse that has some bookshelves in it. It feels as if there will be a trendy coffee shop tucked into it at any moment.

Yelp
Im giving 3 stars because i never had a problem till today. I have been going to this library for 5 years. I never seen this woman behind the desk shes new. Im struggling with books and ask if i can leave it behind the desk for a moment she kept rumbling and not making full sentences. She finally says no. I lost my sons card and had some hold items under his name . So i try to go to the other woman who is much nicer. But i end up with the lady again told her and she says she cant because my son isnt here she cant replace the card! I never had this problem. I told her i should be able to replace it because im his mother and he wouldn't be able to get one with out me and its not a new account. Also its been active for 5 years. She said that she needs to physically see him to prove he is real. Its unbelievable i will avoid this new person she obvioualy doesnt know how to do her job also doesnt know how to communicate with people

Yelp
I've been going to Agave location for about 2 months now. We bought a home just down the street. Since then I've and many problems but never enough for me to say anything. Until now. For one. They use tickets in order for you to gain access to story time. The space is plenty big enough for the amount of people who show up. Yet you have to arrive a half hour early and then have a half hour of story time. Impossible with a 1 year old. They have staff walk around the entire time telling you to quite your children when the main focus of this library is the play area it seems. Yet you don't want children to make any noise? Also. Today was the last straw. I took a brief phone call in the play area speaking no louder then I would if I were to read out loud to my daughter. I was told no cell phones ( which is not posted ) and I had to go to the back of the library and outside. Which is also not posted. I will take myself and any referrals to any other public library in the surrounding area.

Yelp
We love, love, love the Agave library. They will ship books to this location from any library in the Phoenix system and they email you when it's held for you. They offer a ton of story times and activities for kids from babies to building classes with older kids on the weekends. During the Summer they have reading programs that reward kids with free books and they host weekly events for kids. The librarians are all friendly and helpful- my kids make a point to go talk to their favorite "librarian Jill" anytime they see her. I really wish that they were open 7 days a week (being closing on Sundays in particular restricts access for many M-F working families). Hopefully the city will eventually fund 7 days per week.

Yelp
I come to this library every week for baby time and to read with my little ones. We all enjoy it great in summer time to keep cool and educated. It is on the smaller scale but it's nice employees and cleanliness keep us coming back for more. Only complaint I have is the older kids bull dozing the baby time. At 11;30 is the toddler time not really the libraries fault as it is the parents. But maybe they can enforce that policy so the littles can have fun without getting ran over
