Well, a year later, life brought us back to Denver; we were so excited to visit our favorite spot and this time our experience was not what we remembered from the previous year. Staff was friendly but Val, our favorite assistant manager was gone and the food was nothing like before.
- Waiter was super friendly, but, was not familiar with the menu, at all! I asked for tacos, just the way they were named and listed on their menu and she didn't seem to be familiar with the names or the ingredients. My husband asked for a Margarita that wasn't listed on the menu but was advertised on their screens as the "Lucky Margarita". We ordered one and she said they didn't have that, even when we tried to show her the screen. The manager finally confirmed it was available and we got it. Margarita was good.
-As an appetizer we ordered the chips, salsa and guacamole. Guac was decent, salsas ok but, as soon as we tried the pico de gallo, we noticed it was spoiled. It was even bubbly. We called the waiter and told her the pico was bad but didn't need more just wanted her to know so they would stop serving it to the other guests. Well, that did not happen because we saw another guest return the pico, the staff finally smelled it and next time you know someone walks out with a huge container with pico.
-Our food was bland; the tortillas were cold, the pastor we raved before was now ok. Tinga taco was mediocre and the nopales and pork taco was salty and not good. I do have to say the Taco Zona Rosa was good, the barbacoa was authentic. My kids pozole was not good at all and broth was thick and blah.
Overall, compared to our first two times we were here last year, pretty disappointed. I am pretty sure the chef is not the same person, the food and the attention to detail is not good.
Sadly, we won't be returning.
Our bill was $88 plus tip. We spent a little bit over $100.
