New Boston Restaurant Openings, November 2025 | Eater Boston
"A fresh arrival in Southie, this spot took over the old Purple Shell space and, mere steps from the T stop, promises fresh guacamole, tacos, and margaritas, with service at lunch and dinner; a full menu isn’t available yet, but you can get a peek on the restaurant’s Instagram." - Tanya Edwards
This spot opened yesterday across the street from where my friends live and we decided to come with a group on a whim. Very solid spot—we had a big table in the back, they played good music, and the service was great (thanks Emily!). Everyone enjoyed their food and drinks—a favorite was the pork carnitas.

Been walking by almost daily and been enchanted with the decor, so when we saw it was open we jumped at the chance to try it out. The food was amazing and of high quality - perfectly fresh salsa and chips, and the burrito and chipotle camarones was exceptional. The burrito was also huge. My child ate all my refried beans. Everyone was incredibly friendly and attentive, and I'm excited to try more of the menu!

Checked it out on opening night and definitely will be back. You're greeted with chips and salsa which is a nice touch you typically don't get in the city with these nicer Mexican restaurants. Although refill on chips and salsa was $4 each ($8 total) which is a bit steep, I won't hold it against them as most places charge for the first round.
For drinks, we tried the margarita flights which were beautifully presented and every flavor delicious. Then tried the Agavero Top Shelf margarita which was excellent and strong, will probably be my go to for future visits.
The steak fajitas and steak enchiladas were both delicious. Big portion for the steak and was tender yet lean. Very nice you get 3 choices for your beans too!
Service was incredibly attentive and personal. Hope they continue to be so great! A must try in Southie.

Made a reservation for 7 people for a 7:30pm Birthday Dinner directly through the restaurants website.
Once arrived and mentioned said reservation you can immediately see the hostess shock and scramble to find a seating. Was sat in a tight booth with a chair in the back of the restaurant. Having to dodge staff members with hot food orders due to the tight spacing. Almost hidden and not able to see most of any decorations and beauty the restaurant is known for. Very disappointed with our seating placement and arrangement.
The restaurant was extremely packed, and the host was very apologetic.
Claimed that the reservation aspect of the restaurant is still a work in progress.
The Food was great, and drinks were good. The prices are good !
I do suggest, if making a reservation call ahead of time to make sure there is proper seating arrangements for your party.
Over all would go back again.

Yelp
Agavero is a must try in Southie! They just opened up and I've been keeping an eye on them for some time now. So excited to see them finally open and a great location being at the end of Broadway right next to the T.
The restaurant is beautifully decorated. A gorgeous tree in the middle, beautiful mural art on the wall, and other decorations that make for really nice touches.
I had the house margarita which was delicious. Queso fundido to start as an appetizer. The cheese was so good.
I tried the gobernador tacos and the gringo tacos with ground beef. The gobernador was delicious shrimp and very spicy, so watch out if you don't like spice. The gringo was nice but I'd probably opt for one of their other options next time.
Service was friendly and very attentive. It's their first night and they were doing great. They also serve you salsa and chips to start which is the best and not as common these days.
Highly recommend trying them out! Great addition to the neighborhood.

Yelp
We are so excited about this new restaurant. We've been twice. Sat at the bar the first time, in a comfy booth the second. Both times, Super friendly service from everyone. Both times, Food is fantastic. Homemade guac, queso fundido, salmon fajitas. Our new favorite spot!

Yelp
Wow! Cancun or southie I couldn't tell! This place really does the job, when you need good Mexican this is the place you have to go. The Mamacita literally knocked me out my seat! The fajitas burrito stuffed my like a stuffed shell. The service? Well let me tell ya they make sure you are all set. The atmosphere? Electric. If you are in the area you need to check out this great local spot.
