The food was pretty good. The spices used to marinate the fish is great . The plantain is sweet and ripe perfect! I would say the environment is pretty dark, but it’s clean so I would come back

Aggie’s Grill & Bar never disappoints! Their food is absolutely delicious, and I love that they keep adding new items to the menu. Tonight, I had the peppered chicken with plantain and spinach, and it was packed with flavor—perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection. A special shoutout to the Manager Lani, who provided top-tier customer service. She was super friendly and even recommended a Strawberry Margarita, which was a game-changer! I was surprised to learn that they now serve alcohol, and at just $8 per drink, I couldn’t resist having a few. If you’re looking for great food, amazing service, and a welcoming atmosphere, Aggie’s is the place to be. I’ll definitely be back to try the Mackerel Fish with plantain next time! Highly recommend checking them out.

Aggies Restaurant in Dallas totally surprised me—in the best way! The food tasted homemade, portions were generous, and the staff made me feel like family. Left with a happy belly and a smile!

This restaurant had me extremely shocked. As soon as we walked in they didnt say 'hello" " welcome to our restaurant " nothing, just looked at us (there wasn't a lot of people there) (It was very dark in the restaurant) There were two people at the cashier, and there was one lady she was on her phone THE WHOLE TIME we were ordering... Anyway, she told me the food will be ready in 10 MINUTES, we walked in (it's been 10 minutes) and guess what... the food wasn't ready . So we had to wait half an hour Moving on to the food IT SMELLS AMAZING OMG But this food cost 21 DOLLARS ?? The service made me a bit upset for my meal to be that much money I will not be returning 😭

I usually order takeout at this restaurant but I sat there for the first time last week, a very hot afternoon of July. It was so hot inside. I'm not sure if the AC was off or not working properly. Nonetheless, the food was great. I ordered the Spinach Parfait stew. It came with white rice. You can also substitute with plantain or fufu. I definitely recommend but be mindful of the time of the day you're going if you want to dine in.

The Worst $27 of spent. Smh I think the man was the Owner who came and told me the was a mix up on the orders he apologized. Came back with cold fufu only to tell me they are about to close but he can warn it up it was cooked this afternoon. After waiting for 35 mins for a Togo order which I was told would take 15mins. This man didn’t seem to care he was just into the money we paid only to get this rubbish and disgusting food I couldn’t even eat. That was cooked this morning at we should eat at 10pm. The old owners were better. Look at this food… what a waste of my money. I could have had a better meal and service at an American restaurant. Do better.. this was my first meal of the day..

I had food taken out from here for the first time today. The young man that took the order was pleasant as well as the preparers I had 2 orders of the fish soup with goat and beef with a side of spinach. It was soooooo delicious with the exception of the soup being a little too oily so I had to remove a lot of the oil off of it. The Fufu was awesome. Everything was so fresh and totally spiced up and tasty 😋. Will be a frequent customer

I have never had any problem at this restaurant before but today was just terrible. We ordered two fish and plantains and Ms Aggie was actually the one that served us. She told us the plantains were sweet and soft. Imagine to our surprise, when reaching home to find out the plantains were cold, oily and old; basically refried like after being out after a long day. It tasted bad. The fish was rotten, cold and smelled awful. After calling the restaurant, they tried to justify it by saying that it was the place that sold them bad fish. Aahhh, so because of that you want to poison your customers stomachs? You mean to tell me you couldn’t smell how bad the fish were while cleaning them? I don’t think I will be going back there anytime soon or at all. Something is seriously wrong as I am not the first person to complain about this. One of my favorite African spots in all of Dallas! To cure a cold, a hangover, or sheer hunger, Aggies will get you right every time. I was first introduced to Aggies by a Cameroonian friend, in 2018. I've been hooked since my first bite. The menu is very small, with the same consistent 7or 8 entrees offered . But if it ain't broke don't fix it because the food is phenomenal! Spicy, fishy, fibrous Eru will clean out your gut for real. My favorite is with chicken, but the beef is tenderrrrrrr baby. The tilapia is the best grilled fish I have EVER HAD! ANYWHERE! Hands down! No ! Whether you order it with rice/stew sauce, or fried plaintain, you can't miss! I've also had the spinach parfait which was really tasty and fresh, but wasn't packing the heat that I crave. But a really solid veggie option, nonetheless. Random notes: The interior hasn't been open for dine-in for a while, post Covid. So it's take out only. You don't need to call in your order (because they'll likely cuss you out) because the menu is small and stuff is available really quickly. 10 minutes max! Though you may wanna call in advance to make sure they have fish, because sometimes they go like hotcakes, and when they are gone, their gone. You've been warned, now go forth and conquer, Young One!

Well I had stopped going due to the meat was always dry and Unedible.. So this Tuesday I went back. The lady at the front very sweet. They redecorated it was nicer. But the beef meat. Hard, couldn't eat it. The Igose soup was oily. Will never go back. Waisted 20.00.

I was skeptical because of the reviews, but there were some good ones. I ordered ahead of time and was only a few minutes' wait. I got home, and boy, I got the best grilled spicy fish with juicy fried plantain. I almost missed out on a great dish.

If I could give 0 stars I would, ordered fish/plantains for my husband, and egusi for myself both woke up with stomach aches, will never return! On top of the terrible customer service, they are serving bad food!

Bad food , bad customer service and super small portions for Texas standards!!! Fish was undercooked and the pepper was bad !!! Tasted like it's been in the fridge for years!!!! Don't waste your time and money !!!!! Disappointed!!!!! Ah Ghana people paaa !

Great Restaurant/takeout for delicious food. I make sure at least once a month to stop by to get the fish and plantains.

The food is good. I have been supporting this business for as long as they have been open. However, the ladies that take your order leave so much to be desired. When you call, they answer the phone with "hello." You have to push for answers. And when you show up to order, you'd be lucky if you're greeted. Try asking a question in person and it's as if you're bothering them. I recall when Aggie's used to be packed. Now people just pick up their food and go ... I wonder why ...

Don't bother to call ahead, they do not pick up phone calls. We called several times, then walked in to the phone ringing while the lady was right beside the phone. They ran out of spinach and okra...just negudu! Two stars for the fast service!

Quality has dropped severely over the past year. Bought 4 fish and plantain meals today, only to get home and 2 of the fish were half cooked and inedible. So thats $40 down the drain. It will be a while before i return and when i do, I'll be sticking a fork in the fish before leaving, so make sure it's cooked through.

Aggie's restaurant is my favorite place to eat good African fish, spicy,, juicy, and very flavorful. I have never ordered anything else here, so I can't tell you about them. I have been coming here since she open up a shop. I was ordering from her when she was still in her apartment just down the street. So I'm a guru with her fish. Today fish was burned on one side but still taste gd, I enjoyed the plantain with the spicy sauce. Since she moved to a shop, fish plate became smaller and smaller, restaurant does need more lighting during the day. I understand that at night time, it does beam and looks like a club. I have never been here at night, so can't say. When I walk in today, it was too quiet and I keep wondering if they're still in business. I wonder why there was no music playing and the lady taking the order was on the phone in a dark. I thought of going to boiling crab but I needed a different appetite this evening. But I did order some and it never disappointed. If.i can recommend something, that wld be! To have some light or more light during the day, rearranged the whole restaurant to look more appealing to customer. Pls play some music some happy customers. Overall, nice African food joint with delicious food. Come out and try some menu mostly their fish and plantain or rice. Will update soon. Xoxo.

Great Food!! Whole Tilapia is cooked to perfection with the rice and red sauce. The service could be better, more enthusiastic and friendly for customers . I would recommend more red sauce on the rice as it is not enough to distribute throughout the portion of rice given. My husband and I love to get the tilapia and rice. The plantains are not sweet at all not a huge fan of them. Overall good food.

I can understand the ratings on this place. The ONLY good thing on the menu is the baked tilapia and plantains. Anything else, FORGET IT. You would have to go to a proper Nigerian restaurant that has FULL Nigerian cuisine. Which there are a few good ones in TX. I'm from Chicago so of course my standard might be a bit higher since I'm from a city that houses some of the best restaurants in the nation. #1- BIG RAT TRAPS !!!! All along the walls there were huge rat traps NOT mouse traps. Like who TF wants to eat next to big rat traps. At least have them hidden.!! I get it, most businesses probably have mice or rat deterrents because you serve food all day long! BUT why not have the black box traps that are hidden. They literally had the traps with the springs that clap back and could break a child's hand if the decided to be adventurous. #2- COLD FOOD! My food was refrigerator cold!!! I was hungry so decided to pick at my fish while my husband drove. We had to make a u-turn and ask them the warm our food. Which I'm sure they tossed in the microwave instead of properly reheating it on a grill like any good cook would do! #3- Freezing cold indoor So they obviously only turn on the heat when they have enough customers and feel it's worth it. I can't remember if it was colder outside or indoor. That's how cold it was. Overall, my 2 star is only for the cold but good fish.

I love their fish and rice it is very very good and then I tried their egussi and I really enjoyed it. There service was very good

So I have to post this and I hope the owner who has changed her attitude some smiles more and is a bit courteous lately. I come here maybe once or twice a month and yesterday 12/07/16 I got some food here and honestly I am terrified by what I found in my food. I was eating the head of the fish when I felt something scratching my tongue. Mind you, I had my 4 wisdom teeth pulled three weeks ago and I thank God I never tried to swallow or chew with my side teeth. I found a huge piece of stainless steel about an inch and a half long. I am so thankful it was me eating this particular fish. So I will share my picture and just FYI I will never go back there. Anybody reading this please try this other place in Irving. Disclaimer the fish is atomic hot and I am kidding. My first time in Dallas, and Aggie's was recommended. When I finally found the place, I was disappointed. When I went in, it was unkempt, smelled of sewage it was terrible, I didn't want to walk out (I should have). I got my food super quick, I gave the guy a good tip, no smile no thank you. The food was average, very disappointing overall.

BEST FOOD AND CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER .! Fish was amazing , super spicy ,the rice with pepper sauce was so good , they made a dish with Goat (I think ) for my mom that was SUPPPEERR spicy and she loved every bite (my moms super picky ) . The ppl in there are super sweet Nd I'll be coming back once a week .!

I traveled almost an hour to get here only because Salt and Pepper was closed. I definitely won't be back. It was a waste of time, money, and gas. First I wanted jollof rice but they didn't have any. Ok fine, let me just get the egusi soup WITHOUT ANY MEAT! She repeated it back to me to make sure "no meat" is what I said. I told her that's correct. Not even five minutes later they told me my order was ready. Only to get all the way home and see that it's loaded with meat. I decided to just deal with it and remove all the meat. Now I'm no expert on African cuisine but this was by for the worst Egusi I had ever eaten, AND SEEN. It didn't even look appetizing, but I still tried to eat it. I took a few bites and decided I just couldn't do it. It wasn't good at all. It was the most bland African dish I had ever tried. Maybe they ran out of spices idk. And I also ordered plantains that I thought I was going to eat in the car on the way home. WRONG! They too were not edible. Old and dried out. Literally was only able to take one bite. I really hate I had to write this review because the older guy behind the bar was actually pretty nice. But yeah, that was my first (and last) experience at Aggies.

Fish and plantain plate is $26 not $13 as listed online still. The fish was so oily. The plantains were not cooked all the way they were hard as bricks ! And the jollof rice was hard, dry,and old. I can guarantee It's been sitting for 2 days. Would not recommend this place AT ALL. Waste of my hard earned money.

The roasted fish is great but the customer service is horrible. I stopped by here on 3/3/18 evening and had tried to call for 1 hour to place my order and no one was answering. So I drove there and when I arrived it took 30 minutes for the young lady to come take my order even though I was standing at the counter. When she finally decided to give me the time of the day, I asked how come they were not answering the phone and she said they were too busy! When I tried placing my order she said it will be a 2 hour wait which could have been avoided if they had picked up the phone when I tried calling 2 hours earlier. Ms Thang acted like I was doing her a favor by coming there and that I was bothering her! So I left and went to African Village!! Anyways, look on Yelp there's too many other African restaurants in Dallas to have to tolerate this nonsense. I'll take my hard earned money elsewhere!!!

The food was lacking flavor, very cold, and was essentially undercooked. It made me sick and I won't be eating here again. One of the Worst African restaurants I ever went to. The egusi I ordered did not taste or look like egusi at all and I was very disappointed.

The ambience needs a little updating; there is only one person behind the counter - she fixes the food too. Majority of the items in the menu were not available. However the Parfait Spinach was amazing with a side of rice and plantains! My friend ordered beef stew, he said it was great! I will revisit this establishment regardless of the decor - YES THE FOOD IS JUST THAT GOOD! 4 Stars flaws and all!

I have always ordered the fish and it has never let me down. The seasoning is always just as good as the first time I had it.. I absolute love it. Just don't come here looking for good customer service it's about the food get it and go lol

I have always loved Aggie's Fish and Plantains. Yesterday I didn't particularly like my experience. The host(the individual taking orders) completely messed up my order because he felt like his phone was more important than the customer. He then went on to smack his lips. The food is always good but the service on this particular day ruin my whole appetite.

I went to aggies two weeks ago . I bought 4 fish , I was really disappointed . Since a while they not serving good fish . Most of them are coming over cook , dark , the smell either the taste are not good. You guys need to focus more on what you are selling because The money is not easy to get. Pleases Baked Tilapia

From the outside and inside. The place isnt much to look at. But i admire the sofa seating they have to make it seem lounge like. I had ordered the baked spicy fish and it was just enough spicy for me because i am from india and enjoy very spicy food. It was very crisp and tender and the rice was very oily and delicious with the red paste they had on it. My friend got the beef with greens and the pounded yam

I went here only for fish but Customer service is HORRIBLE!! Pls is u don't want to work stay at hm!! Yall need train on customer service. The best when it comes to african food. Most people go with the grilled Tilapia and plantains. Just know it maybe spicy for some people. I still get the spicy source to eat my tilapia. The rice and tomato sauce is also very good. Customer service is not at TJI Friday's level, so manage your expectations.

Love their Fish ohhhhhhh. I came to Dallas and this was my first stop! I came here when I first came to Texas for my first time and I'm very picky about my food but no complaints. Well seasoned and ginger licking good...I dreamed about it lol

This is my first in Aggies. Wow! The fish and plantain was really good. Thumb up Aggies.

3rd spot in the same area. All I wanted was to try African food. Same rude customer service. Both places were empty and I see why. I don't know if it's because of how I look but both places treated me like they didn't want me there. The questions I asked at both places were answered with an eye roll. I guess I'm not from the right country to get good service.

I have a friend from Nigeria that reccomended this place. I love the talapia. I have had thr Egusi, but that is not to my liking. If you like talapia, flavor and spice then you will enjoy. To people saying the staff is rude, i wouldn't say they are rude, they just aren't bubbly friendly. I have not been met with any kind of rudeness from the staff. They are always helpful and polite.

They are very very rude to white people. Will look at you like you're stupid and judge you the whole time you're ordering. EXTREMELY disrespectful. The lady at the front needs to be fired. I have never seen anything like it... she was so incredibly rude & wouldn't get off her cell phone. I mean she literally took a personal call while taking my order. Wtf? Also it's very hard to find. The gps will take you by a tattoo shop... Aggie's is around the corner. When you find it there's no indication where the entrance is. Just very confusing. I walked in & it was extremely dark I thought it was closed. Bad business. Also they're only doing to-go which I think is kind of ridiculous because restaurants are open to 100% capacity now ... If I could leave 0 stars, I would. Extremely disappointed & I will NOT be returning. When I ordered, I asked for the chicken stew & fufu & the lady looked at me and laughed and said 'are you sure about that'. She insisted I got the okra soup after I kept saying I just wanted the chicken stew. Not sure why what I order affects her, but okay. I don't know what her problem is but I've never seen such horrible customer service... and I'm a server at a restaurant so I know that's absolutely unacceptable. No idea how this place is even in business. Honestly. Go anywhere else but here.

Whomever ( take note of the usage of English grammar) was so genuine and so nice. They had hand sanitizer at the counter and a sink with water and paper towels available. The guy at the register washed his hands after every transaction!!!!!!!!!! Back to the food........ i ordered the fish and jollof..... it was sooooooooo delicious......I will be back.

I have eaten at Aggies African Restaurant several times in the past. Here's what you can expect. First off, the restaurant is in North Dallas in a predominantly black neighborhood with a lot of small start up businesses by folks who don't have a lot of money. So it doesn't really stand out among it's surroundings. It is not 'fancy'. It is a hole in the wall. The decor is basic. So if you want fancy this is not it. It is more like a lounge. Second, I have read several of the other reviews and many seemed to speak about the poor customer service. I agree that the customer service is not that good. Every time I've gone I had to pretty much get their attention and even after getting their attention and ordering the food and having it brought to the table (they bring it to you most times) there's no more contact with the staff. No one asks how was the food. No one seemed to care. No one ever even seemed enthusiastic about my business and that's shocking as the meals are not that cheap for the portions you get. I have always overlooked this because I've always thought the people there simply weren't trained what "good customer service" is. They deal with a primarily African customer base who comes by the restaurant faithfully so they know they don't have to give 'great' customer service. It's sad but true. NOW THE FOOD.. A lot of people have commented on their dislike of the food. I have always found the food to be quite tasty. I liked it. However, I agree with others that the spinach dish is too spicy. It has way to much pepper in it and it really does make it almost inedible. I have spoken a few times to the owner about lowering the spice in the dish and she has never reduced it so I guess she feels its sufficient. But I agree it is way too much. PORTION SIZE.. I do not like the portion sizes for $13.00. At all. Most of what I get is vegetable and very little meat portions. Very small portions. I have always thought Aggies prices were not on par with what a person gets. I'm not sure why she charges what she does for the small quantities of food she gives out but the prices have always been too high. P.S. The Portion Sizes shown in the photos are wildly different than what I am accustomed to seeing when eating at Aggies. The portion sizes I have received and seen others receive are much smaller. For instance, I order the spinach meal that comes with spinach and fufu. No meat or very little meat. I pay $13.00 for this and it comes in a very small container. There's no way it should cost that much. But it does. ENVIRONMENT... The environment at Aggies is laid back. Lots of Africans. They are not the friendliest people. They aren't mean. But just oblivious to their surroundings. They don't speak. Make eye contact. Or anything of the sort. You are pretty much invisible to them. As I mentioned before the staff is pretty nonchalant. It's like it's only a job to them. But it's Aggie's dream so I still put up with it because I know how difficult it Is in America for a black woman to build her dream. It's a lot of African MEN. I have rarely seen African women There. But the place seems like a Man Cave. It's where they all come. So to sum up all of this.. The food is Tasty, however, A bit spicy for most tastes and the portions are rather small. The prices are a little higher than I would expect for the portion size. The decor is casual and not fancy. It's a lounge really. The customer service needs A LOT of Improvement. Aggie just doesn't know how her workers are treating the customers. They should provide better service.

This is supposed to be a restaurant where you can get African food. My experience here two year ago was bad. The service was very poor. I had a review up here before but yelp.com deleted it. Not sure why because it was appropriate and no bad words were included. The food was not great along with the poor poor service. I waited almost two hours to get my food to the table and I was seated alone. I thought that I could step out and have a nice dinner outing with me myself and I and chop down on some Nigerian food. I was wrong. Lol I do not care how good the food is when your customer service is poor it makes the food taste bad and that what happened to me. I strongly recommend not going here if you are looking for good service along with good food. if you don't like the review wrote then change the service. If u must have African food then order to go so you don't have to deal with the bad service. My cousin and I had lunch here a few weeks ago, just before my return trip to Houston. She was in the mood for Nigerian food, and so was I. We're both Nigerian, so we definitely know what to expect when it comes to the food. The decor itself is definitely more lounge than restaurant, with the dark lighting, and lounge area with the couches and low tables (not very comfortable for sitting and eating lunch). During the day, they have a tv tuned to soccer. What else would it be turned to?! Service is cafe style, you order at the counter, and they bring it to your table. We didn't interact with much of the staff, but the guy that took our orders and brought them to us was actually quite pleasant. When ordering, you have the choice of tap water, or buying bottled water for $1. (this option is typical in Nigerian/African restaurants). You can order stew and then select the kind of meat you want to go in it. My cousin ordered rice and stew, and I ordered fufu and egusi stew with chicken. When our orders came, I immediately noticed that the chicken in my egusi stew had come from the pot of stew that my cousin had with her lunch. I noticed this because the stew she ordered is tomato based, and my soup was NOT. Say what? They couldn't have just rinsed that off before plopping it on top of my soup? Tacky, tacky. Anywho, I hadn't had fufu in a few months, so I was excited to dig in. Then, not so excited. Our bowls of stew were drenched in oil, which was pretty gross. Nigerians typically cook with palm oil, which adds a certain overall flavor--not bad by any means, just one that I'm used to. Whatever the owner uses, it's NOT palm oil, so this threw the flavor off slightly. My cousin said a friend of hers mentioned that the owner uses vegetable oil since it's cheaper. I'm inclined to believe the friend's statement. I understand wanting to cut costs, but I'd honestly rather pay a little more for the food if it'll mean that it taste more authentic. Another Yelper was spot on about the egusi being drenched in pepper. Actually, it's more like the bowl of pepper had a little bit of egusi stew in it. I wish they'd just cook the food and let the patrons season it to their individual tastes. But I guess that would be too easy. I seriously thought my mouth was going to burn away; on the bright side, my cousin and I did actually leave the restaurant with very clear sinuses. No joke.

Aggie's is a stylish restaurant with a short menu. This is one of those good times though, as they seem to specialize in their items. Star attraction: the whole baked tilapia with fried plantains. Get that. It's that simple. The food came out super fast, but it tasted so fresh. Perfectly cooked throughout and just oozing with spices and flavors. It was well worth all the trouble of picking through all the bones and stuff. Oh, and the pepper sauce was awesome too. Absolutely perfect with the fish! I also got the Eru with fufu, which almost isn't worth mentioning. I've had stew with fufu before but this was just odd. Kind of like Indian spinach, but add beef and a bunch of oil. Very heavy and a strong smell. Service was okay. I walked in a little confused, you're supposed to walk up to the bar to order. I was highly inquisitive of all the strange-to-me things on the menu but the server didn't seem like she wanted to be chit chatty. Also they give you water bottles when you order water, don't expect a visit here to be friendly to your wallet. At Aggie's, order the fish, bring your wallet and your adventurous appetite!

I didn't really care too much for this place normally whole in the wall places have good food but this was my first time here and the place is old and run down its in the ghetto I ordered tilapia and stew the stew is very hot and the fish comes with the head still on it which is what I am being told how the Nigerian eat fish but it has a lot of bone in it and I am not used to that the stew was way too hot and there was no flavor on the fish just burnt looking

Very bold flavors - I came with a Nigerian friend and he said he felt like he was back in Lagos (capital). The fish was super tender (baked it seems to lock in the moisture). I also really like the fufu, very hearty, went really well with the tomato based goat stew. Fish was definitely the star tho - I'm planning on bringing friends back

I tried this restraint looking for some "authentic" African and Nigerian food. Boy, was I disappointed! It took 10 minutes before someone showed up to take my order. They never brought our drinks to the table until they served the food which was 20 minutes after we ordered. Total of 30 minutes to get food from the time we walked in. The food was equally disappointing. The egussi was terrible and the baked fish also bad. The fish was not completely cooked and had raw spots in the middle. The egussi had so much pepper on it, it was not edible. We asked for new food as what we were served could not be eaten. They refused to replace the food or credit us for the terrible food. I will never return to this place. If the service had just been OK and the food edible, maybe I would try it again. But with bad, slow service and terrible food, no way. Avoid a bad experience and stay away.

I gave it two stars because the grilled fish is great. Everything else is ok but the service is horrible. As one other reviewer wrote, they act as if they are doing you a favor. I haven't found a place that makes grilled fish this good, so I may come back for a to-go order but they won't get much of my business.

Fist thing first the customer service was great.!!!!!! 3 stars!!! The food was horrible!!!! I ask for grill and I received a big oily tasteless fish that tasted like they took it out the freezer right into the skillet. The restroom was the wort in the entire world. I felt like I was in the Gheto eating in a place that had never been inspected by health department or food inspectors. Not enough lightening, it stinks so bad. If you eat at this place you more likely to get food poisoning and dies.

I ordered the rice with goat stew and it was ok, service was what you'd typically get at most African-owned establishment; it's as if they're there doing customers a favor. I'll return in desperation but not for quality.

Been here a couple of times. In the African community its probably the best tilapia fish experience. I never eat in... Just order, pickup and go enjoy at home.

I've been to Aggies and my experience was really awesome, me and my husband went with our kids and it was only 2 ladies that we seen, but they made us laugh and feel very welcomed and we like to drink so it was even better when they had a nice little bar and I like that it was very intimate, I'm very familiar with the area so I can understand why they might not be so friendly coming in because look where it's located, but I notice they have alot of takeout orders, but we had fun and the food was great so all I can say is if you come in with a positive attitude, you'll leave with a positive experience.

First off it was not even my idea to come here, my husband whose parents are african was looking for an authentic meal and was wanting to give this place a chance. I won't even comment on the "decor" of the restaurant because I'm not a real stickler for that kind of thing, especially because some of the best food ever can come out of some of the most hole- in- the- wall looking places. The food on was incredibly spicy for no reason, I love spice but I did not see the reason for the stew to be that spicy, it made it unbearable and took away from the flavor, instead of adding to it. The oil in the stew pooled in the corner and no matter how much mixing I tried it was just an oily mess. Someone suggested in a previous post that they used vegetable oil to cut down on cost instead of using palm oil. I would have to agree, palm oil is much more flavorful and I could tell the difference also. Customer service is what really brought this to one star. I do not expect to be treated like royalty every time I step foot into a restaurant, in fact I am probably as easy going as a customer can get. However this staff is incredibly rude. I do not know if the manager knows about the rudeness level or not, if she doesn't then she needs to find out. If she does well then there's not much I can say but good luck staying open for a very long time. I would be here a while typing if I listed all the ways they were rude. Long story short: Walked in they just stared at us had no idea where to go what to do, finally someone came to us after we seated ourselves, we ordered... got food,less than 20 minutes later we were told the restaurant was closing so basically leave. Even though there were other tables still eating. No one else was told to leave just us and we were definitely not being rude or giving them a reason to kick us out. I wouldn't waste my time with this place. I'll either just wait for my mother-in-law to come to the U.S. to eat good African food or I will get recipes from her. I would not give this place my hard earned money again for anything in this world!!!!!!

Picked up food for my co workers here, and never again. If you want to deal with rude workers and pay for overpriced food. Come here :)

That burning fish was actually boiled !! Lamest burning fish and nothing to drink apart from water which was good for my health lol but it is always good to have a choice !

Horrible service. The egussi was extremely greasy with lots of fatty chicken. I am not a fan. I may go back to try the baked fish.

My husband brought me here my first night in Dallas. The service here was ok. Now for the food I ordered the egusi with fish. I also ordered the eba on the side. Now me being American and my husband Nigerian I have gotten use to my food being very pepperish. I am from California and the egusi I have had at restaurants there come more like a stew. Also the egusi my husband prepares is also the same. I am also use to the spice. I usually have my egusi with bitter leaf or spinach. This one came with collard greens. Good but different. It seemed as if the egusi and greens were prepared together. Then the stewed fish was tomato based but was not prepared with the egusi and vegetable. The fish was prepared separately and then put on top. The tomato base was from a can which I am not use to and I felt as if hot sauce was added for the spice instead of using actual peppers. I prefer my food much hotter than it was. The eba on the side was very good. All in all the fish was prepared well. I am use to tilapia but this was catfish which is fine by me. The best Nigerian food I have ever tasted...no, but edible. I noticed they also have an American menu, I might go back for that. I also noticed they had pepper soup and oxtails! Just another reason to go back and see if I just ordered the wrong thing.
