Bad quality food, very small portion, bland food. Extremely low light, barely could read menu card. Rude host. Do not eat tandoori naan, they served half baked bread that too with made with white flour.

We just had the most bizarre and disappointing interaction. We walked into the restaurant around noon to let the host know that we had a group of 6, but we were just waiting for 2 ppl (who were looking for parking). The restaurant was open (doors were open), and the place was completely empty. The host came out from the back, and when we told him how many ppl, he just kept saying no and shaking his head. There was no explanation given. After we walked out, someone walked back and asked why, and he finally said that he had no servers. If that was the case, there should be a sign or at least tell us that immediately, instead of just repeating the word no, shaking your head, and walking away. I understand if there was a lack of staff, but that customer service was terrible.

I have my go to Indian spot but they were closed, so tried this instead. One thing I’ve learned about saag; if it isn’t green, it’s going to taste like crap. Saag is a spinach dish; the recipes where it’s actually green seem to coincide with places knowing how to cook the dishes right. My saag + garlic naan didn’t seem to taste like anything other than spiciness, which is a sensation, not a flavor. Not entirely sure where the “garlic” part of the naan was either. My stomach is full and my mouth has residual spiciness in it but other than that I can’t say I know what I just ate as there didn’t seem to be anything to it other than spice and calories

The food was good. The service was adequate as well. We tried the chillie beef, garlic naan, lamb biriyani and chicken madras. Everything was delicious but kinda disappointed at the chicken madras which was basically a bit spicy version of chicken curry. Other than that the presentation and arrangement was as expected; excellent!

Really delicious!!! House soup spicy and aromathic. Various appetasers. Great lamb curry and shisha kebab. Huge portions! Visit this place is highly recommend :)

Walked in with my group to an empty restaurant and the only employee inside said no. Absolutely no reason or explanation as to why. Just kept saying no. Don’t bother coming here. Not even sure why the restaurant was open.

ANOTHER UPDATE 12/19 Unbelievably perfect again. How is it possible to be this delicious every single time? Lol. Order anything on the menu n feel 100% comfortable that it will be delicious. It’s to the point now where I’m torn n don’t kno what to order bc it’s all sooooo delicious ha! Lately I’ve been hooked on the samosa. Don’t forget their bread is the best in Brooklyn. Yum!!! FURTHER UPDATE: A great thing about this restaurant n about Brooklyn/NYC...we really r the city that never sleeps. I worked late n wanted world class Indian food but it was 1:00 AM :( No worries, Agra Taj Mahal is open til 4:00 AM!!! It’s a wonderful thing lol. I went over n sat down n was served a multi course meal created by true culinary artists. Take a look at some of the newly added pics. A steaming puffed up n beautiful poori bread started it all off for me bc I’m a bread fanatic lol. Insanely perfect vegetable samosa...chicken...rice...so much more. I only took pics of some bc I couldn’t stop eating, sorry. Next time u stare at a computer all day long n then ur starved n want real legit Indian food AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL...check these folks out. Open til 4:00 AM, people. That’s New York. #Brooklyn UPDATED REVIEW: I’m a VERY Italian guy from Brooklyn so it is my duty...my obligation to tell u where to find the BEST bread in Brooklyn. The absolute best bread in Brooklyn can be found at this wonderful Indian restaurant. The food is all delicious here and they really do have the best bread, of any type, in Brooklyn HIDING RIGHT UNDER MY NOSE: This place is one of THE BEST Indian restaurants in Brooklyn and it is right at the end of my street. If it’s been a while for u... try them again because I tried this place when I first moved here n recently tried them again n IT WAS DELICIOUS!!!! I don’t remember it being this great!!!! What a pleasant surprise. I’ve been eating their bread as a snack lately n it’s outta control delicious!!!! This is a must-try for ur list.

Google
Lunch special is an amazing deal - the soup/samosa were ok, but the entree/naan were great! Chicken tikka & lamb vindaloo (not too spicy)

Yelp
I swear up and down by this... without a doubt the best bang-for-your buck lunch special in all of Greenpoint. Not to mention, it's delicious too! I work in the neighborhood and eat here all. The. Time. It's a great quiet spot to dine in, or you can take your food to go, just make sure you show up hungry because portions are huge! The lunch special gives you soup, an appetizer, naan, rice, and an entree of your choice. I had the lamb curry today which was fantastic, my friend had the chicken vindaloo which I've had before and also love. They do a great chicken tikka masala as well, and it should be noted there are vegetarian options for lunch too! In addition to all the food they have a great selection of sauces to spice up the flavor if you so desire. Service is also fantastic -- everything comes out super speedy! Go check this place out, it's very special to me :)

Yelp
Got this mixed grill kebab delivered the other night. I've had mixed grilled stuff from other places and this one wasn't dry so I liked that. The sauce that came with it definitely enhanced the flavor. But I feel like I couldn't gotten more variety and less vegetables that were packed in there, although they were delicious.

Roi F.

Yelp
The foods pretty good. The service isnt the best, but i got my food so. The ambiance is nice if there would be more people, its always empty.

Peter P.

Yelp
Very good lunch special; tasty mulligatawny soup, excellent chicken vindaloo, only $12. Service isn't the best, but I was there for a late lunch and they were prepping for dinner
google avatar

Michael H.

Yelp
Took almost 1 hour 45 to get my food delivered. So definitely don't order from these guys for that. Not worth the trouble.
google avatar

Hugo C.

Yelp
Had to go when I saw this on my favourite tv series and it lived up to the dream in my head. So delicious, cozy atmosphere.

Ab B.

Yelp
Authentic Indian fare with great food and wonderful soft, pillowy Naan (homemade on site). Even better, Agra Taj Mahal is open late and delivers! Service is a bit laissez faire, but I appreciate the personal space. I recommend getting one of the several specials. I ordered a special with lentil soup, 2 meat samosas, and chicken tikka masala. My partner ordered one with 2 vegetable samosas and a lamb platter. Both come with rice. They provide complimentary papadum (think crackers) and a chutney trio if you dine-in. Be sure to request it while you wait! It's gratis and sometimes they forget. I forgot to take photos before eating them, but the chutneys are in these shots. The chutneys are so good, use it on the Naan too! They are Indian classics: 1x green chutney, 1x brown tamarind chutney, and 1x red pickled onions. Menus attached

Yelp
- good foods - pretty quick service - open late (12noon - 1130pm) - indoor seating only
google avatar

Matt D.

Yelp
The veggie samosa were fantastic. For 1am on a Sunday in Greenpoint, could not have done any better. I ate three. They gifted us with some fantastic raita to go with our food.
google avatar

Jimmy T.

Yelp
Small unassuming place, nice interior decor and place settings. The food was delicious and tasty. Naan hot fluffy and perfect in my opinion ( I had the butter naan but was delighted by the smell of the garlic naan ) enough portions to share and take a little snack home. I will definitely be back.

Kariene A.

Yelp
I ordered lunch today from here. I ordered the vegetable curry as well as the coconut soup. The vegetable curry came with what looked like the blade of a top of a plastic knife which I found while I was eating it and the bread came with what looks like piece of a stucco wall attached to it. Plaster almost - see below. I threw the food out and requested a refund from delivery.com.
google avatar

Steven M.

Yelp
Great spot. Have been ordering delivery from here for years but finally went in person and it was a great experience. They're busy so the phone rings off the hook in the background. The tikka masala is excellent with garlic naan. And I recommend the mango lassi.
google avatar

Yelp
If you are at all interested in Covid prevention, do not bother with this place. No masks, completely casual.
google avatar

Rohit K.

Yelp
Ordered delivery on Grubhub at 8:10, with a delivery window of 9:05-9:15. Called the restaurant around 9:25 to see where the order is, and the restaurant said the driver left 5 mins ago (5 mins outside the delivery window), and should be there within 5-6 mins. 20 mins later I still don't have my food. It is now 9:45 PM. Definitely won't be ordering from here again. Certainly not worth the $5.00 delivery fee AND the 20% tip.
google avatar

Sigalit S.

Yelp
Be warned someone recently found a roach in the chicken tika masala. Completely disgusting and unacceptable. I felt obligated to write this post so others are aware.

Alicia S.

Yelp
Food tasty but found a literal piece of wood in my dish... no idea where that came from
google avatar

Crystal G.

Yelp
My experience with place has been a sorry one. I did not ok now that the delivery fee was not for the delivery person, he asked me for a tip and I was taken aback. I apologized and stated that the delivery fee is for him idk. But then it got worst. The shrimp korma was a green/yellowish grey color, not very appealing. I won't be ordering it eating here.
google avatar

Nina D.

Yelp
Missing true Indian flavors. But the nan/bread were awesome. This is not Indian cuisine, it appears to be halal Bangladeshi based on the environment and menu. The dishes tasted like they had canned tomatoes instead of the fresh. I'm sorry but this is not Indian food. The malai kofta was too sweet for my taste, it was like desert. No tadka here.
google avatar

Yelp
I've never left a Yelp review, but this could be a matter of life or death, so I think it's important to get this story out there. I'm a big fan of Indian food, and have been for about 20 years. I also have a very severe peanut allergy. I always ask about peanuts when I order food from anywhere, and have always been told that Indian restaurants don't cook with peanuts or peanut oil. Still, whenever I order I search the menu to make sure they don't list peanuts in any of their dishes and I always explicitly state my allergy. I ordered from Agra Taj Mahal last night through Delivery.com. For each dish I ordered, I wrote in the instructions "Peanut Allergy- no peanuts or peanut oil!" despite the fact that they didn't have any peanut products listed on the menu. When the food came, I took one bite of their Sag Paneer and immediately knew something was wrong. Turns out many of their dishes include peanuts, including the two that I ordered with the note of my deathly allergy. Luckily I got the medical help I needed and am okay. But it could have turned out differently, and could be more fatal for another person. Completely unacceptable and extremely dangerous.

Yelp
Love the set up. Inviting and friendly. Food portion was very good, I got all of that for $9.00. Excellent service I enjoyed it here. I was on break from work and told them I was in a rush, my food cane out in 5 minuets literally lol going back to work happy

Yelp
Great, quick, awesome lunch special. Neighborhood favorite!

Christine K.

Yelp
I was shocked that ratings of this restaurant are so low. I was gonna write a 5 star review, but when my dinner arrived and I've got to taste it, I am hesitant to give it 4 stars. It was disgusting and I had to put it down. My salmon tikka masala was made with fish skin and lots LOTS of fish fat. After cleaning up pieces from fat, there was nothing to eat. Why don't you just put less salmon, but at least it will be a salmon? Never again I will order that dish. However, I've been ordering from them over 10 times now and only once dish wasn't satisfactory. Other than that, it is really a good restaurant with tasty flavorful food and good portions. Shrimp and chicken tikka masala are good, aloo gobi, paneers.
google avatar

Matt M.

Yelp
Great food for great price, lunch special is $9 for chicken tikka, veggie samosa, rice & drink. Service needs improvement. They are always talking loudly on the phone, sometimes watching loud videos on their phones while you eat, they don't talk to the customers at all. Worth the price, I'll keep coming

Vanessa R.

Yelp
ZERO STARS if I could, this place is terrible and super negligent. They don't know the first thing about business. Wayyy better places this is definitely not worth the wait nor the stress.

Yelp
Knowing that Aziz a la Master of None ate here, we wanted to try it. Lunchtime on a Sunday had the restaurant mostly empty. The experience and meal start off well, but then just went downhill. The man that seated us must have been the owner as he was very friendly and helpful. Somewhere during our meal, our server changed who literally dropped our food on the table and wasn't engaging. With the lunch special, we received soup, samosas, curry of choice, naan, rice and drink. The appetizers and soup were very flavorful and we were looking forward to our curries. Sadly, the curries feel very short and flat. Both of ours lacked depth of any sort of flavor. The value for the price is very good. Unfortunately, it will be hard to return based on the one-note entrees and the hit or miss service.

Yelp
I love Indian food-- I'm so happy that this place opened up! I have been here about a handful times-- The food is amazing!!! My favorites so far: The Samosa are amazing!!! And the sauces are just the right amount of spice! The mushroom Bahaji is delicious! from the Naan I love the butter naan, or the plain naan-- The less it has the better my favorite thing to do it dip the bread in the sauce from the main dishes that I get. The chicken Masala is amazing-- Must have. The chicken rezala is also good but not my favorite. The shrimp curry, shrimo vindaloo, lobster curry is also a must order here. The food is amazing over all-- I also recommend the Spiced Tea!!!

Yelp
Everything made with care and love. After a meal here you quickly understand that the owners are motivated by serving very high quality food at very good prices. Nothing run of the mill here. The veggie korma and saag paneer were delicious. Often veggies at Indian restaurants r cooked to oblivion. Here the veggies were fresh and intact. The naan was perfect balance of thin/crispy and chewy /doughy.
google avatar

Joe K.

Yelp
This isn't real Indian food. This is the slop Indian's serve white people and pass off as Indian food. But if that's what you're looking for, knock yourself out...
google avatar

Paul B.

Yelp
Food-delicious, except mushrooms came from a can. Place-nice (need some music in background) Waiter- could be better.
google avatar

Brianna B.

Yelp
Oh my goodness the chicken vindaloo is phenomenal. Very, very spicy. Love it. Really sweet people at the counter too. This is my new indian spot.

Khadijah F.

Yelp
Haven't been in the place and never will. I witnessed a possum pop out of their side walk cellar last night. Their sanitary grade is pending and after seeing what I witnessed I'm pretty sure I know why. Beware!

Sarah B.

Yelp
If I could give negative stars I would. There was a COCKROACH in my 6 yr old's chicken tika masala tonight. So horrible. Steer clear.

Hope A.

Yelp
This is my favorite Indian restaurant in nyc. I get Indian once a week and try a different place every time. But since I found Agra Taj Mahal, I only order from here. The paneer tikka masala is unbelievable. The Togo situation is really well set up. It's cheap. It's great. I love it.

Yelp
So I guess my experience is different from others. I know they have an A on the door but I'm wondering what for. That place is far from clean. I should have turned around at the door. The table cloth was dirty but my daughter tried to convince me that they were stains that don't wash out. Bologna! They were dirty. There were also dirty place settings on the table. I thought, she really likes this place so I'll tough it out. Live and learn. The Food: Appetizers - We being a party of three shared the Assorted Appetizer. Glad we only ordered one.The orange cake ball w/banana inside, okay if you like black bananas, the rest was awful. I'll have to give this up, I'm on a new Chemo pill and my tongue is sensitive to spice but the onion was so hot I though I would cry from the pain. The sauces were not explained. If you like it hot eat the red onions. Because of my situation I was forced to drink the water out of the dirty cup. Ordered a sprite and Thank God it came in a can. Then somehow we all ordered the same chicken. Chicken Tikka Makhui but before dinner was served there was a loud argument starting up in the kitchen. It got louder and louder. Sounded like someone was going to be killed. So unprofessional. I guess we the only guest did not matter.Dinner was terrible, crappie dry chicken with a few veggies on a sizzling pan. DRY! The rice tasted old? When they started fighting my daughter wanted to leave and we should of. They were also caring dirty pails and food out of the cellar. It was just Bad. The bathroom was beyond gross. We asked for the check. Could not wait to leave. Where was Gordon? My daughter said the take out is usually good. Then added there was no love put into our food. I agreed. A on the door but in my book I give it a RED PEN D. It's not the place to go for a nice family dinner.

Sarah L.

Yelp
Delicious food and friendly staff. Absolutely huge menu with so many options. Our favorite is the bay goon bortha eggplant dish which is really unique, but everything is good.

Yelp
I'm a huge Indian food fan, this place is by no means good! However, I'm giving it 3 stars based on the lunch I've had at other Indian spots in the neighborhood- this place is definitely one of the better ones. I had the lunch special which was ok, and came at a good price. The chicken Vindaloo wasn't bad! I've had it a few times now. One night, I decided to be adventurous and go for the Lamb Dhansak (one of my favorite dishes) for dinner. It was terrible. The meat tasted old and rubbery, the dish was flavorless, and the texture was all wrong as they completely overcooked the chickpeas. Stick to the chicken vindaloo lunch specials, I'll stick to giving this place 3stars. (I'll disregard the Dhansak nightmare for now :) Extra points for fast, friendly delivery still hot when it arrived at the door.
google avatar

S D.

Yelp
I have to agree with the general rating that this is above average, especially for the neighborhood. I go for the veggie options. I seriously like the pakoras here. They are crispy fried and chock full of plentiful strips of veggies. The chana shag (chick peas and spinach) is very tasty. I've had a couple of the mixed veggie curries and can't vouch as to which is better (I've forgotten the difference) but most recently I tried the sabzi jal frazie (mixed veg in jal frazie sauce - sort of reddish curry) was pretty tasty, although a bit more celery than I'd prefer. Prices are average and the decor is a decently nice sit-down place. At around 7 PM on a Friday it was pretty dead, but started picking up. They seem to do a good take out business. Good service!

Yelp
We saw great reviews for Agra Taj Mahal and needed some quick takeout, so we headed around the corner. We walked in to place our order--chicken masala and chicken vindaloo plus a side of garlic naan. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Our order was reading within fifteen minutes, and they threw in some complimentary rice pudding. Both entrees had great flavor and were just spicy enough. I had never tried Indian rice pudding before. It was awesome--just like regular rice pudding, but with lots of cinnamon! It is definitely a new favorite! I will definitely be back for Indian from Agra Taj Mahal!
google avatar

Yelp
Brilliant Indian - great cost, and the food is great. Recommend the Vegetable Pakoras, Garlic Naan and Vegetable Jalfrezi.
google avatar

Kathy D.

Yelp
I'm pretty happy with this Indian option in Greenpoint. The best Indian in the area for sure (not many options in the area). I've never eaten at the restaurant, so my review is only in regards to delivery. I've tried a variety of items on the menu now and most have been success meals. As a basic lunch, the chicken tikka masala is such a good choice, and the curry is topped with sliced almonds. And when I request it to be spicy, I can actually taste the added spice. Usually requesting a spicy curry comes mild at best. Not mind blowing Indian, but a good cheap option for the lunch rotation. Friendly, fast, awesome lunch deal, and tasty. All good in my book. 3.5

Yelp
I love this place. I was only gonna give it 4 stars at first, but then realized there's nothing negative you can say about this place - unless you're gonna nitpick about superficial stuff like the discount-bin decor or not having a sommelier in a suit slicing the corks off of champagne bottles. In this neighborhood, this restaurant is a great example of excellent quality, value, and taste. Good food, good service, fast delivery, expectations consistently met. I have no reservations about ordering from this place at least once a week or recommending them to you.

Ian H.

Yelp
Really good Indian food. My favorite thing is the dinner special option which comes with a main curry, vegetable curry, dhal, naan, samosa, and a soup. The best part all this FOR $17!!!
google avatar

Alexandra K.

Yelp
Hey all Indian cuisine lovers! You must come here! Best Indian food i ever had. And trust me I had a lot. Good food, service, and prices. I wish I lived closer! 5 stars from me!!!!!!!
google avatar

John H.

Yelp
Update: Dinner portions are well sized, solid chunks of white meat chicken, good consistency of Tikka Masala / Butter Chicken / Chicken Korma. A bit pricey but by far the best in the area. Great food.

Jenn A.

Yelp
Unbelievably rude. First, I always order the same thing on the phone for delivery and he said they wouldn't do it. So then I went online and did it. That was 70 min ago. I just called for the 2nd time to cancel and the guy on the phone said "I already talked to you" and hung up before I could even cancel my order! I'm never ordering from there again. Unbelievable!
google avatar

Yelp
The best Indian food in Brooklyn The chicken Vandaloo is very tasty and spicy the best !!! Service is quickly
google avatar

Tom K.

Yelp
The only Indian place in Greenpoint, does not disappoint. Get the peshwari naan for sure. Vindalloo dishes are very tasty. As is the honey chicken. I've also had the saag paneer which was delightful. I have a feeling this is more authentic than most. Not too much butter or salt or spices. Service is top notch. Sweet guys.

Yelp
Coming from London I'm used to, and am a fan of, good Indian food. I'm also cognizant of the fact that it's very hard to find good Indian food Stateside and so I was interested, but not getting my hopes up, when I saw that this place had recently opened in my neighbourhood. Last night I ordered the chicken vindaloo. Now when I order a vindaloo I expect to have to put the toilet paper in the fridge for a couple of hours beforehand, I expect to be sweating by the third bite and I expect to be in hot, hot heaven as my saliva glands attempt to extinguish the rampant flames of that fiery goodness. What I got was pretty much a flavourless korma. Rubbish. UPDATE: 6/19/2013 I really wanted to like this place because it is so convenient and I love Indian food and so I went there again last night. Thinking that maybe I walked out with someone else's meal the last time I ordered the chicken vindallo extra spicy and guess what? I got another reconstituted korma. Putting a bit of extra heat in a korma and selling it as a vindaloo is extrememly patronizing to customers.

Yelp
Good quality Indian food in the neighborhood. I wasn't sure how Greenpoint would handle Indian but I was really pleased with Agra. The restaurant is quiet but when we sat there about 25 Seamless orders came in. Despite the delivery business they make the effort of putting down white cloth tablecloths and wearing formal waiter-ware. I've always loved this about Indian restaurants. Prices at decent and portion sizes are good. They give papdum at the start of your meal. My chicken tikka masala was slightly different from what I'm used to but still very good. Chicken saag was also a winner. We've also ordered takeout from here and delivery is very prompt.
