Yelp
What a recommendation from Yelp !! I had been looking for some cool cafes in Porto Alegre and was really impressed by the number of great reviews this place had, so I promptly bookmarked it and decided to try it out once I got the chance and even though I had high expectations from this place, there was no way I expected it to be so charming and a serious 5-star spot !!
Located in downtown Porto Alegre (Cidade Baixa), is this quaint and colourful cafe - the outside is brightly coloured and really seems like an oasis among the other buildings around it. Once you get, the high ceilings with dangling cups, the different decorated ambients, the bar/balcony with Edison bulbs of different types along with the colours really make you feel warm and the same time in a very hip atmosphere. Don't get me wrong, this place is not pretentious - it just oozes charm like there's no tomorrow.
Service is attentive but a tad bit slow but then Agridoce isn't the place for you to waltz in and out - it's the place where you spend the afternoon drinking reasonably priced local espumante, drinking the wonderfully blended coffees, eating their 'oh-my-god' cheesecakes & other delicacies or just drinking the Barco beers. They have a book sharing policy - you can take books from their mini-library and leave books there for others to read.
It a place that accommodates a single person, couples and groups extremely well as they have assorted seating arrangements - and talking about seating - they have some really cool, colonial style brightly painted/upholstered chair.
A definite place to visit and to return - this cafe is one of the best places I have been to...not just in Porto Alegre but in the country.
