Lama di Luna, near Andria, Puglia, Italy - Explore & Book

"If you want to slip away from commercialism and clamour, book a cheap flight to Bari and head north to the somewhat unlikely environs of Andria. Here, amid low rocky hills overlooking the olive-studded coast, sits a fortified farm with 40 chimneys bristling around a gravelled courtyard. The great iron gates swing open and you're greeted by Pietro, a gentle, unassuming father of two who spends his summers harvesting olives and fruit, and his winters crafting furniture from giant fennel trunks.Lama di Luna excels not for what it has, but what it doesn't have: no gimmicks, no distractions, no noise. You're ensconced in thick vaulted bedrooms, you sleep in unbleached cotton sheets on feng-shui beds, you wash with pure olive soap, you breakfast on organic jams and dine on homemade pasta. If you want to explore, the fantastical Bourbon Castel del Monte and the under-rated port of Trani await; by happy coincidence, one of Puglia's loveliest restaurants hides in the village down the lane. But don't plan too much: bring a good book, a special companion, and empty your mind. That's what it's all about. Highs We think the place has soul, which is one of the hardest things to create in a hotelPietro is a kind host, offering multilingual advice, free bicycles and advice on hikes or horse ridesYou can help harvest grapes, pick olives or make pizzas and pasta in the old ovenInspirational eco technology, including 48 solar panels and a computer-controlled heating systemIt's all very pure: no artificial materials, no sharp edges, totally tranquil at night Lows The pool is quite coldLimited WiFi in some bedrooms The location lacks obvious wow factor, but there are interesting towns to explore nearbyThe nearest beaches (Barletta, Margherita di Savoia) are not Puglia's best" - Michael Cullen

We had a pleasant four-night stay at Lama di Luna and we were truly charmed by the unique location and the warm welcome by Pietro, his family and his staff. It's wonderful to see how they have transformed the former farmhouse into a comfortable place for their guests. From this location, we were able to make fascinating excursions in the surrounding area (Castel del Monte, Trani, Saline Margherita di Savoia, San Michele Arcangelo, …). Upon returning from our excursions, we relaxed by the spacious pool, where we also enjoyed a magnificent view of olive groves stretching all the way to the Adriatic Sea and the Gargano Mountains. We truly savored the tranquility this place offered. Every day we enjoyed a delicious breakfast on a cozy terrace with the same view. On the same terrace a delicious three-course dinner was served in the evening.|Lama di Luna is definitely a location to recommend to anyone who loves peace and authenticity.

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful Masseria . The location , rooms , pool are all stunning with very good attention to detail . The pool area is great with lots of sun beds and very peaceful . A great place to relax and recharge . The food at breakfast was very good but the evening meals were quite restrictive as just a Tasting menu .|The staff were so charming and helpful .|There was an issue with wasps around the pool and when eating on the terrace. |We visited other towns for supper in the evening , we loved Trani and Molfetta

Staying at Lana di Luna is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. When we booked this trip, our goal was to escape, recharge, and breathe and it exceeded every expectation. From the warm check-in to the stunning accommodations, delicious food, and breathtaking views, every detail reflected the love and care poured into this place. We enjoyed both the olive and grounds tours, which were not only fun but also wonderfully educational. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway or a family retreat, you’ll find peace and love here. We will definitely be back!

Lama di Luna was our favorite stay in Puglia. It was quiet and relaxing with a stunning view from the pool. It was a breath of fresh air from the holiday crowds at the beaches. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were all excellent. The Petroni family and their staff were so friendly. I highly recommend the olive oil tour during your visit!

Delightful renovated Masseria, a traditional estate building that originally housed the manager and workers. Large room with curved ceiling, large comfy bed and plenty of space to unpack. The bathroom had everything you need, though it’s a little old-fashioned. The whole ambience is carefully considered and rustic ally charming, rather than super luxury. Staff were great from the warm welcome to the friendly breakfast service. Meals, for residents only, are taken in the Veranda restaurant which does indeed have a lovely veranda, ideal for pre-dinner drinks, but there is also a saloon for chillier nights. The food is delicious, tasty, well-thought out menus. We didn’t bother to go anywhere else! It is in the countryside, so you need a car to explore the many towns within easy reach, no more than 40 minutes drive, - like Barletta, Andria, Trani, Bari, Altamura - and other attractions like Castel del Monte and the site of the Battle of Cannae. It was perfect for some gentle sight-seeing and plenty of relaxation at the end of our trip to Puglia. Don’t miss the tour of the estate and olive oil tasting with Agostino. It gives a good insight into the challenges of being an organic farm.

One of my best stays while travelling Italy with my partner. Our room was so special, it felt like we were staying in a castle with modern features. I also need to say that the staff made us feel incredibly welcome, especially one of the owners Agostino who went out of his way to have a chat and make sure we were comfortable. Can’t recommend this place enough.

A beautiful boutique hotel in an old renovated fortress among their olive trees and grapes. They produce their own products and located in a beautiful area. The rooms are luxury style with high quality bed and bathroom. Perfect for those who drive from Napoli to Bari for a night stop.

An Absolute Gem! Our stay at Lama di Luna was the highlight of our two-week Italian trip. The level of personal, thoughtful service is unlike anything we've experienced. The entire team goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and cared for. The estate is gorgeous and the rooms are amazing. We particularly enjoyed the fantastic cooking class and the invaluable local tips that made our trip so special. While other places were great, the genuine warmth here made our stay the most memorable. We cannot wait to return!
