Miami’s New Restaurant Openings - Miami - The Infatuation

"Aguasal is a Mediterranean restaurant on Collins about two miles away from its sister restaurant (and fellow Mediterranean restaurant) Zaytinya. The menu has things like hanger steak, dorade, and an octopus we hope is less chewy than the one at Zaytinya. Bar Centro, a cocktail bar, will also open in the same hotel." - mariana trabanino

Even if you’re staying in the hotel, you should skip Aguasal - Review - Miami - The Infatuation

"Something is off with every dish at this Mediterranean restaurant in a South Beach hotel.  The grilled leeks taste like they’ve never met a grill before, the olives in the tartare overwhelm the beef, and the $65 half rack of lamb is underseasoned. The most entertaining part of dinner is watching dripping hotel guests in swim trunks try to navigate the dining room. The patio tables are a nice place to sit and eat on a pretty day. But the food is the same confused mess of flavors, no matter where you sit. This is the kind of forgettable hotel restaurant that would never land on our radar if it weren’t for the famous chef attached to it. But we know from experience that he can do better than this. If you’re a local, there’s no need to come here. And if you’re visiting, you should know there are better Mediterranean restaurants in Miami. video credit: Virginia Otazo video credit: Virginia Otazo Pause Unmute Food Rundown Beef Tartare There’s too much going on here. The pungent onions are fighting with briny olives. And marjoram and urfa peppers are battling it out with what tastes like discarded chopped meat. photo credit: Aguasal Grilled Leeks It says they’re grilled, but we see no signs of heat. They arrive cold, with no grill marks or charring. Chewing on it is a great workout if you’re trying to get a stronger jawline. PlayMute video credit: Julia Malavé Watermelon Salad It sort of tastes like watermelon Jolly Ranchers. At least that’s more exciting than some of the underseasoned dishes here. You’ll finish this, but won’t remember it the next day. photo credit: Aguasal Fried Red Snapper This is the best dish on the menu. The fish is flaky, covered in a thick crust, and comes with slightly spicy tartar sauce and zhoug. PlayMute Half Rack Of Lamb The meat is tragically underseasoned. It comes with an eggplant puree that does have a lot of flavor. But it’s oddly smoky and sour—not a particularly pleasant flavor. PlayMute Saffron Rice Pudding The consistency of this is closer to chowder than rice pudding. It’s not just soupy, it’s also too tart, and the lemon sorbet makes it even more sour. photo credit: Aguasal" - Virginia Otazo

We found this restaurant while searching for top-rated places on Google and decided to give it a try. Since it was our anniversary, we thought it would be a nice place for a small celebration as well. Unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the hype. There was no special acknowledgment of our anniversary—no greeting, no congratulations, no gesture at all. We were treated like any other regular customer, which was disappointing considering it was a special occasion we had mentioned in our reservation. Service was very slow. It took over an hour just to receive our salad, which really affected the overall experience. We sat outside, and while the ambiance and the setup of the chairs and tables were nice, it didn’t make up for the wait time. As for the food, I did enjoy the date and spinach salad—it was my first time trying that combination and it was a pleasant surprise. The rest of the food was okay, but honestly nothing extraordinary. The dishes were average at best and didn’t match the restaurant’s high rating in my opinion. If you’re looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion, I would recommend thinking twice. It might be better to visit casually if you’re just looking for a basic meal. This is not the kind of place that stands out for food, service, or hospitality—just an average restaurant, despite the buzz.

Celebrated my wife's birthday this past weekend at Aguasal. We are big fans of José Andrés. This restaurant has easily become our favorite of his. When you enter it is beautiful and welcoming. We did a coursed menu which was the perfect way to experience the menu fully. The attention to detail of not only the presentation but the taste is perfection. It needs to be said that the Zucchini soup is the I think the best soup I have ever had. But just as good as the food is the service, We had Nicholas and he made my wife's birthday unforgettable and made us feel so welcome and taken care of. Genuinely nice and happy. This is easily one of the best dining experiences you can have in Miami if you enjoy José Andrés, Mediterranean food, good service, or all of the above!

Google
I continue to give this place the rating it deserves. I am constantly in search of good food good atmosphere good vibes where I can walk to and from my home on the beach. This place checks off all the boxes. At this time, there is a really nice Miami spice menu happening and even a secondary version of the menu with different price. points. I ended up ordering from the $45 menu as I was just by myself sitting at the bar outside. Full portions came in nothing held back. It was very good. Excellent service by Roger at the bar never disappointed.!

Ricardo's personalized service really stood out. While the food overall was average, the highlights of the dinner were the warm shrimp, crispy dorado, and rich dark chocolate cake.

From the moment we arrived at Aguasal, our hostess Angela made us feel welcome on a busy Saturday night . The restaurant itself was a visual marvel. Having just opened a few weeks ago, everything was sparkling new, both inside as well as outside under a covered airy patio. Once seated, our waitress Kris greeted us and explained the concept of the restaurant as well as the menu to us. She didn’t just read from the menu. She went over in perfect detail the food we were about to order. Not many establishments have team members that can describe the menu in such a way that the words are more descriptive than pictures . Very impressive . We chose 2 fish dishes. The Coboa and Dorada. Each was prepared with extreme precision and care ensuring the freshness of the entrees shined through with just the perfect amount of savory seasonings. We finished with an adventurous arroz con leche that was also spectacular. Manager Ian also passed by to greet us and ensure that everything was up to expectations which it was. Aguasal is a superb addition to the Jose Andre’s Group. The entire staff was outstanding. Caring and professional. We look forward to returning and trying other items on the menu.

Food: fried mushrooms were flavorful but overly breaded, cobia crudo is a creative dish but ratio of cataloupe to cobia is off, grilled salad is also flavorful but over dressed, hanger steak was well-prepared but underseasoned and accompanied with bland sauce and bland roasted potatoes, chicken tagine was inedible. Also, wine list, while nicely focused, lacks vintage info (a pet peave). Service: waiter and other staff were attentive and appreciated but food service was far to slow (well over 30 minutes to appetizers and roughly 90 minutes to second course - the restaurant was far less than half full). Atmosphere: dead (sparsely populated and low energy) with thumping music - feels far too much like a hotel restaurant. Wanted to love (or even like) it as we're José Andrés fans and locals, but was not meant to be.

Google
An unforgettable multi-course dinner experience at our new favorite, Andaz! The seafood, especially the Gulf Shrimp was fresh and perfectly seasoned with exceptional bread service. All of our dishes were beautifully curated with an excellent wine pairing. My highlight was the Saffron Arroz Con Leche: bright, creamy, and full of fresh flavor. What truly sets this spot apart is the service. Nicholas was attentive, personable, and genuinely welcoming (a rare find in Miami). His friendly warmth and personal approach elevated the whole evening. Highly recommend for anyone who values thoughtful food and exceptional hospitality.

Yelp
Breakfast was good but the fresh juice was so . I love fresh juice in the morning. Service was awesome and the music was really chill vibe. We ended up staying at the Andez and came for breakfast. I would recommend this place for sure. Right off the beach.

Yelp
We sat at the bar outside and service was great! All the staff was kind, worked well together and were proactive in anticipating our needs. The staff truly seemed happy to be there. The food was wonderful! We had the watermelon salad, the crispy mushrooms, chicken tagine, and the mushroom entree. Everything was delightful! Great team, great food!

Yelp
Welcome to Aguasal. Jose Andres says let there be breakfast all 3 days of your visit. This is the hotel restaurant for The Andaz on Miami Beach, and I shamelessly ate here all three mornings. The space is beach vibes. The selection was very plentiful and I got something different all three mornings. Some fun twists on breakfast had me in love. Perfect service.

Yelp
Amazing meal. Relaxing ambiance. Great service. A chef we're glad to support. Fantastic experience. The adjacent Andaz hotel lobby fragrance needs to be bottled and sold. $60 for 3 courses worth every penny for the Miami Spice special.

Yelp
I went to a Miami Spice dinner at Aguasal tonight. It was amazing. I had the beef tartare, cobia, and the chocolate cake. I also chose the wine pairing that goes with them. The food was perfectly prepared , moist and delicious. The wines were well matched and added flavor to the food. And as you can see from the photos the presentation was beautiful. Fly, do not walk or run to this restaurant.

Yelp
I was just a touch let down by Aguasal. I had been to other Jose Andres restaurants that I feel were better. Now don't get me wrong, this isn't a disappointment. The service here is very good and the food quality and presentation are very high class. Portion sizes were where they should be. I had the Miami Spice dinner and my only complain was the cauliflower main dish, it wasn't as vibrant as I was expecting, did I clear my plate? You bet. The watermellon salad was very fresh and very tasty. The dessert was exceptional (chocolate mini cake) Iced tea was not good and it should have been much better considering the restaurant. Sit outside for a much lovelier view, even though the inside is just as elegant. This restaurant is casual but I don't recommend beach or gym wear. Pricey but you will get high quality options for your money. Tip is included. Valet parking is available.

Yelp
One of the best omelets I've ever had, honestly! They add a 21% service fee to all bills. A side of avocado (1/3 of an avocado) is $10 lol. So it's pricey, but very very good. Nice ambiance, great service. $78 for an omelette w cheese/onion/tomato/bacon, side avocado, juice, coffee. The restaurant is included for breakfast for Globalists. I am impressed!

Yelp
Incredible food and service. We came as a large group and the waiter was very hospitable and made us all feel at home. Everyone from all ages (2 - 80) was all blown away by the experience. Portions were quite generous, food extremely tasty, and the waiter helped to accommodate even the most picky eaters. 10/10.

Yelp
we went for Miami Spice week (although to be honest, the prices on the regular menu were not that expensive). The food was outstanding, from the starters(watermelon/feta/pomegranate salad and date/almond salad), to the main dishes (my husband said the chicken tagine was the best chicken he ever ate in his life) - I had the cauliflower with tahini which was perfectly cooked with a great crunch on top. the rice pudding and chocolate cake desserts were both fabulous. Service was great, atmosphere was great. we can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Let me start with Jose. Andres should receive a Nobel peace prize for his humanitarian work. But let's stop there. Let's dive in! I attended a birthday party for a good friend. I don't remember the exact number but there were approximately 20 people at the table. We were to enjoy the Miami spice menu. We sat down to dinner at 8:30 PM and we left at 11:45 after having Basically an appetizer an entrée and a dessert. The restaurant was nearly empty. I'm not even going to go into the food because it was certainly good, but nothing exceptional. What I want to focus on is how slow the kitchen was. This is preset menu with no complications. Our waitress did a wonderful job handling a large group. It's not easy to handle those types of tables. I'm aware. But the gaps in service in the lack of support that she had was so obvious. We were not a loud or boisterous or heavy, drinking crowd With high demands. At most people are having glasses of wine with dinner For me, things went bad when we noticed that about 10:30 PM when we were still eating after sitting down two hours ago that they started turning off all the lamp lights on the tables because no one else left in the restaurant but us. I felt that the next thing was they were going to stack the chairs on the tables and mop under our feet, basically pushing us out the door. But yet we were still waiting for our last course. We finally got our dessert, no one stayed for coffee or anything extra. We left at midnight and the place was a ghost town. This is not a case of a large table during a busy night. It was a Wednesday and at most I saw four other tables occupied at peak. When people go to a restaurant like this, they expected dining experience based on the cost. This in no way came close to the value of what was charged. So disappointed.

Yelp
It was a Monday night, the restaurant was by no means full, great place and time to have a friend / business dinner. My experience Rocked! We started out with an order of Kumamoto oysters each. They were fantastic, fresh, meaty, unbelievable, so good we ordered another round each. For the main course I had the octopus Santorini and my friend had the Cobia. We tasted each other's entree and both were spectacular. The sauces were light but extremely flavorful without overpowering the taste of the fish or the octopus. Perfectly balanced, just outright exquisite. For desert we shared a molten chocolate cake, what can I say ? Everything was fantastic on the palate, yet not filling. Great place, great service, overall fantastic experience. Would highly recommend it. As I mentioned not many people, just right! Will go again for sure. Don't miss it if your in the area. Worth the visit.

Yelp
I had an amazing meal at Aguasal. I had zucchini soup that was smooth and delicious. Then I had dorade that was wonderful and the dessert of chocolate cake was amazing. My husband's meal (shrimp and then cobia) was equally delicious. The service was great and the ambiance was so relaxed and beachy - feeling. Jose Andres is an amazing chef and the ingredients all tasted so fresh. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yelp
Food was delicious and the service excellent! The ambiance relaxing and just pure joy!
