Ah Ma’s Kitchen

We got here around 1:30 in the afternoon and most tables were taken, only two tables were open but still wasn't cleaned. It took close to 10 minutes for us to get seated a table, didn't get a menu until 5 minutes later we were sat, and didn't get even water until 15 minutes later. I believe there's only 1 gentleman that's taking orders and running food. The other woman I believe only bussed the tables. She was really just standing there for most of the time...so I won't knock it down too hard with stars since I know that being a one-man show is hard to do. Hopefully they can get more staff! (Please be patient!) Other than that, the food was pretty good. We ordered quite a bit, but my favorite was the Dragon Wings and the Spicy Wontons (it was more of a flavor spicy than a hot spicy). We also got the Kiln Chicken (half), beef chow fun, garlic green beans, sweet & sour pork, and the XXXL "boba" Milk Tea. The garlic green beens were great! The Kiln Chicken was okay in my opinion. It was underwhelming, but good flavor as long as you dunk your piece in the sauce at the bottom. The beef chow fun and sweet & sour pork were good. I'd recommend it! The XXXL "boba" milk tea was a cool drink to experience! But I probably wouldn't order it again. Overall, it was a great experience! The food was notably enjoyable. I would recommend trying this place out. The place is nice and clean. The bright furniture makes the space feel big. Parking might be the only hard part, so good luck!

Really good clay pot chicken. super flavorful, tender, and juicy. The price is very reasonable for SF, definitely worth it. The Hong Kong style milk tea is huge and tastes great. I like that the pearls are made from grass jelly, not the usual tapioca, which makes it less sweet and more refreshing. The noodles are also very solid, good portion and full of flavor. Overall a great spot for comfort food. Would come back again.

Came here with my mom on a weekend. We ordered two items, the Deluxe chow mein $15.96 and the Klin Chicken $17.96. The chow mein comes with chicken, beef and shrimp. Very tasty and was the perfect amount for the both of us. The shrimp was so good, so bouncy and juicy! Th Klin Chicken was so good, it was the right amount of seasoning. It’s also half a chicken~ The breast was so juicy, we were worried it would be dry. The staff helped shred most of the chicken first, it was fun to eat it with gloves and dip the chicken into the juice. Highllllly recommend it!!

This place was recommended to me by a close one of mine and I knew immediately I had to give it a try. Upon arrival, it was dinner time, but the place still had some tables available for dine in. They are known for their foil baked chicken which I ofcourse ordered, you can either get half or the whole chicken. Also you can either choose for them to break up the chicken for you or you can do it yourself and they will supply you with gloves. Their menu is simple, it consists of appetizers, pineapple bun sandwiches, wok fried items, soups, fried rice, stir fried noodles, drinks and much more unique and delicious items. Everything is made to order which is always a plus for me and I never mind the wait since I am a very patient person. The service is great, thanks to their very welcoming, well trained and understanding staffs were it made my visit a satisfying one. As time went by, the place quickly filled up and their to go orders pilled up. I heard this place had just recently opened this month and it is definitely worth a try. Their portion size is good for individuals or for sharing. I highly recommend this place to all Chinese food lovers, to anyone willing to try some thing new or if you just so happen to be in the area to check them out. I definitely will be back to tryout the other delicious options they have to offer.

My bestie and I were excited to see a new spot open up in our neighborhood and we are so happy we stopped there for dinner tonight! We loved everything we ordered! We got the dragon shrimp, salt and pepper calamari, the dried scallop fried rice, honey walnut shrimp and we split a chicken pineapple bun and I had the XXXL boba milk tea. The dragon shrimp was super flavorful and a little spicy. Almost like a Thai chili sauce! We will definitely order again when we come back! The calamari was so good and you get a huge portion since it's on the large plate section! The honey walnut shrimp was AMAZING! They are Huge portions of shrimp and the sauce is so good. The chicken pineapple bun was one of the BEST and most juicy chicken sandwiches I have ever had! We loved it so much and we want to try the pork one next time. The pineapple bun was sweet and went well with the chicken. If you want to split it with someone just let your server know and they will slice it in half for you! I recommend splitting it so you don't get too full and can enjoy the other items you order! The dried scallop fried rice was so simple and Delicious. We added the veggies/crispes that were with the calamari and it was so yummy added in! The xxxl boba milk tea was great and was what I was most excited for. They are grass jelly and you get a spoon to eat them with and the milk tea was just the right amount of sweet! The staff and servers were so nice! We did not wait long to order or to get our food. They were very attentive and made sure to check on us every little bit to see how we were doing. You get a couple sets of disposable gloves when you're seated and we used those when eating our chicken pineapple bun. We loved that they gave us those so our hands didn't get super messy. If you like taking photos of your food then you're gonna love the lighting! And the inside of the restaurant is cute and simple. Also please know ahead of time or ask the staff if you need to, because the large dishes and the fried rice dishes are meant to be shared! They are large portions and you get your own plate! They give you a serving spoon with each large dish like the honey walnut shrimp and rice and you get a small bowl and spoon with the rice! Tried the new Chicken on Clement & 12th — love it! 🔥 The kiln-roasted chicken is super tender and flavorful, full of aroma when unwrapped. 🐔 The pork chop pineapple bun is a fun sweet-savory combo, and the HK milk tea with grass jelly boba is refreshing and not too sweet. 🧋 Friendly service, cozy vibe, and easy street parking. Definitely worth a visit! 😋

We came for the chicken. It is juicy and well taste, but the chicken is not chewy (not the type of chicken that I like to eat.) The recommended food is noodles and especially the fired chicken (see picture 3). It is al dente, creamy, and salty. Remember to mix well the noodles with sauce before eating. One thing needs to point out: the super big boba in the milk tea is grass jelly, not regular boba. Sad for that😭

Have a great lunch in the new year Eve. Order stove half chicken, beef, fried rice. All are traditional made and delicious in my opinion. Have a great conversation with waiter. It is a happy Chinese Year Eve.

We love this spot in our neighborhood! The giant bobas are actually made of grass jelly, not too sweet or chewy, and I believe it is HK milk tea-based. The kiln chicken is juicy and flavorful, and the chicken pineapple bun is big and satisfying. The staff were super friendly and walked us through the menu. Can't wait to come back and try more!

A new space in the inner Richmond with delicious shareable foods! Loved the chow mein and honey walnut shrimp those were my favorite! They have unique offerings such as pineapple bun sandwiches and big boba. There's plenty of seating What struck me the most was how attentive they were. One of the servers noticed I was taking pictures and when he brought our Sandwich over he asked if we wanted it cut into four and If I wanted to take a picture of it first They do close from 3pm-5pm

The kiln chicken was very well-seasoned: salty and savory. Unfortunately, it was only available to order in halves. It came in wrapped in foil but the server shredded it for us. The salted egg yolk chicken wing was crispy, and the egg yolk coating was very tasty. There was no wait for Sunday lunch, but it got a bit busier later. The staff was considerate, asking if I wanted a picture of the chicken before shredding it! The interior was nice and clean with white furnitures.

First off, there was a longgggg wait (almost an hour for me). There wasn't a physical waitlist available at the door. We stepped inside and the staff actually approached us to take our name down themselves. Lowkey felt off b/c there were people that came after us but got seated before us. After a long wait later, we got seated. When we ordered, they ran out of the XXXL boba milk tea - disappointing. As we were patiently waiting for our food, I noticed the middle 2 big tables seem to be their friends - which was not a problem if your friends want to support you during your grand opening. However, we didn't really get any service because of that as they were all catering towards their friends. We noticed they got their food first, and even got the XXXL boba.... I thought they said they "ran out". We asked for extra napkins and hot sauces and even waited so long where we finished 2 of the 3 things we ordered, we had to ask and check if our last item was taken down. Food wise, the infamous kiln chicken was alright. We had the staff shred it for us. I'm sure many people including myself were deceived, thinking we're getting a whole chicken but it was only half. Flavor wise, it was also ok. It was like a five spice chicken mix with other seasonings. The outer later is a tad salty but the inner parts were bland. The good thing is there were a little of sauces so make sure you dip for more flavor. Another thing was the chicken we got was somewhat pink... I know it should be edible as the staff also confirmed but it can be alarming to others. The pineapple pork bun was great EXCEPT you can obviously tell, it was MISSING the scrambled egg -face palm-. Tastes like a McChicken except w/ a pineapple bun. I think overall, I just wish we had a better and more attentive experience.

Visited a few times by ourselves and with family since their opening. Clean, bright and modern interior. Friendly service. 4.5 stars! 1st visit, dinner. *HK style lemon tea - dark & lemony. Not too sweet. *Wonton Noodle Soup - Wontons good. Noodles can use some work, no chew and too soft. Do like the touch of seaweed in the soup. *Broccoli Beef - The dish is not too salty which is great. The broccoli was very garlicky which we like very much. *Salted egg yolk chicken wings - okay, could use more salted egg yolk taste. 2nd visit, dinner *Fresh Cucumber - refreshing and tasty *Dragon shrimp - Crowd pleaser. My family really likes this dish. *Garlic green beans - fresh, tasty and snappy *Kiln Chicken (2 orders) - table service of deboning the chicken for you (or you can also do this yourself). It's okay. *Deluxe chow mein - great! Another crowd favorite and especially so since we were there to celebrate a birthday and noodles are a must! *Black pepper beef - Crowd favorite. I was really excited to try Ah Ma's Kitchen, mainly because of the "XXXXL Boba" they were advertising, but unfortunately, they had run out the day I went. I first stopped by during lunch when it was pretty packed, so I returned for dinner. I didn't order much since I had a late lunch, but I tried the salted chicken wings, Kilin chicken, and their regular milk tea. The chicken wings were okay but a bit underwhelming, once you get past the salted egg crust, the chicken itself was pretty bland. Their signature Kilin Chicken was an experience, though. You can either eat it yourself or have the staff break it down for you. I expected a whole chicken, but it turned out to be just half. Overall, the food was mediocre. The only reason I'd consider coming back is to finally try that XXXL boba.

Came in for a late lunch to give this new restaurant a try. A few empty tables, so we didn't have to wait. Since we weren't that hungry, we only ordered two items to give it a try. Ambiance was modern, clean and bright. On the wall, they posted suggested instructions to enjoy their specialty, Kilin Chicken. Service was attentive, fast and the food came out pretty quickly. On to the food: 1) Kilin Chicken(5.8/10) - It was just okay. The white meat portions were a bit dry and the dark meat was a bit juicier. Flavor was a bit lacking at certain sections of the chicken. It sort of reminds me of the salt baked chicken you would get at Cantonese spots, but the skin isn't crispy. There was a lot of juice/drippings on the bottom of the dish; I would suggest getting a bowl of rice and pouring some of that over it. A bit underwhelming given it is their specialty and that it was $18 for only half of a chicken. 2) Scallion Oil Lo Mein with Beef Brisket(6/10) - This was also just okay. With the scallion oil and the sauce from the beef brisket, the noodles felt very heavy and greasy. There wasn't a lot of veggies(2 bok choys) or other components to help with the greasiness of the dish. The beef brisket portion was good; flavorful and tender. I would suggest either omitting the scallion oil from the noodles as it didn't even come through, as it was covered by the strong flavor of the beef brisket sauce. Comes with a side of soup. As I don't frame of reference for what Kilin chicken is suppose to taste like...I can't really compare. But as a dish on it own, it was just average. I would come back again to give their other dishes a try as the prices seem decent and service was good.

Temper your expectations for their specialty kiln chicken, y'all. We came for dinner and were so excited to try their food, especially the chicken. We ordered the cucumber salad appetizer, salted egg yolk chicken wings, half chicken, and scallop egg white fried rice. The cucumber salad was by far the best thing we ate all meal, and even then, it was a bit too salty. The egg yolk chicken wings were crispy but also extremely oily and didn't have enough salted egg yolk flavor - so we're getting all the unhealthiness for none of the deliciousness. The kiln chicken was DRY. Full stop. We appreciated that it came double-wrapped in foil and our server made a whole show of unwrapping it & pulling apart some meat, but flavor and taste-wise, it was well below expectations. There were a few redeeming bites of dark meat and skin, but otherwise, it was $18 poorly spent. Worst part was we found a wire in our scallop egg white fried rice (picture attached). Otherwise, the fried rice was fine, but we expected a larger portion for $20. Decor is modern and clean, and service was friendly.

Soft opening 9/19-9/21 15% off whole menu. Went Saturday around lunch, however was informed power was out in the kitchen. Clean, well lit, and spacious restaurant. The only thing available at the time were the drinks, so I ordered the xxxl boba milk tea. Milk tea was good in flavor not overly sweet and the XXXL boba is in fact grass jelly! Haha not an actual boba, tasty indeed. I plan on coming back to try their food next time. Especially the foil wrapped chicken!!! Reminds me of the old times when dim sum carts pushed through the restaurant and you were able to order these. Nostalgic indeed.

This place got all the promo on TikTok and RedNote. We got here and it was all about the hype. The chicken is for sure tender and flavorful. You should definitely get it. You will love it. We also got the beef and rice. We liked it as well, even though it was more on the sauce and salty side. The people here are also very nice and quick. They helped out people who are less experienced with Chinese eating habits. The place is new and basic, but you go there for their specialty. Will come back and try more things.

The service was good as we had lunch on a weekday. People rave about the special baked chicken but it was just above average. What really stood out for me was the salted egg chicken wings! Wonton soup was really good too as well as the iced milk tea. Parking is easy to find in that area of Clement street.

I visited Ah Ma Kitchen during their soft opening and overall it was a good experience with some highlights and a few small drawbacks. The pork chop pineapple bun was the standout. The top had a crispy golden crust that broke apart with just the right crunch, while the inside of the bun was soft and slightly sweet. The savory pork chop paired perfectly with it and made it my favorite item of the meal. The wonton noodle soup was also excellent. The shrimp wontons had a delicate thin skin and the filling had a clean, fresh flavor that stood out in the broth. The sizzling black pepper beef arrived hot and flavorful, and the beef itself was tender, but the dish had a lot of onions which took away from the balance. The chicken had a nice seasoning and flavor but was on the dry side. I also tried a boba drink and unfortunately it was the least impressive item. The drink itself was fine but the boba tasted more like jelly pieces than actual chewy tapioca. Service was quick and attentive, and the restaurant felt bright, modern, and clean inside. Since it was during their soft opening, there was a 15 percent discount which was a nice surprise. The one major drawback was on my very first visit when I waited around 40 minutes before being told that the kitchen had run out of food. That experience was frustrating and is the main reason I rated four stars instead of five.

Always excited to try a new restaurant serving home style Chinese food, but unfortunately just a few misses. We came during dinner and ordered several items including the salted duck egg chicken wings, cucumber salad, dried scallop fried rice, and their speciality kiln chicken that they advertise as a must try on their menu. Food came pretty quickly and was for the most tasty. Unfortunately we did find a piece of steel sponge in our fried rice (assuming from when they clean their cookware in between orders). Luckily we noticed it and just picked it out, but would not have enjoyed getting that caught in our throats while eating. The worst item in my opinion in taste, execution, and value was the kiln chicken. For 17.95 for a half chicken I was expecting some exceptionally juicy and well-seasoned chicken, however it was quite overcooked, and somewhat bland. The chicken is seasoned in a soy base, but otherwise not too much depth in flavor. Another thing I found a bit off putting is that the chicken sits in a puddle of oil/fat in its foil tent, so there's a bit of a weird dichotomy of the chicken being dry yet greasy at the same time. Overall not that good, and I'm not sure I would order it again. Great to see new restaurants pop up in this area and I'd like to try it again maybe once a few kinks have been ironed out.
