I quite liked this small little Taiwanese place. Very unassuming and relaxed environment. Service was good. Thought the food was good. I had the hot and sour soup. Which I enjoyed. Surprisingly hard to get good hot and sour soup. But at Ah-Ma's it was decent. The waiter recommended getting the salt & pepper chicken (taiwanese chicken nuggets). I'd pass on that. It wasn't worth it. I got the beef tendon soup. This was good. But looking around, beef noodle soup looked tastier. So get that rather than the beef tendon soup.

A trendy, yet authentically Taiwanese restaurant in a fun part of town! My wife is Taiwanese, and is rather picky about Asian food. Suffice it to say I haven't eaten anywhere that hands out fortune cookies since we started dating. She was skeptical about Ah-Ma's when it opened, since the Virginia Highlands area isn't known for authentic Asian food, but it meet with the Pauline Seal of Approval. ;P For my part, the Bao is easily some of the best I've had in the city, being a little fluffier and less moist than you might be accustomed to. Everything is really quite delicious!

Small menu options but all of the things they sell are accurate to Taiwanese cuisine and very tasty. We've come before, and I've reviewed the place before, but they are very good all around and worth it for the small plates. Small place too, but totally worth visiting. Price is okay, and reasonable for the amount of food.

Small place my boyfriend found and brought me to. Surprisingly enough, it's quite delicious and I recommend going. There's generally a wait, anywhere between 10-30 minutes, depending on the time of day, as well as the day of the week, that you go in. I highly recommend the oxtail dish, as well the dumplings, baos and rice bowls. Don't get the cold noodles, that was a huge mistake on my part. The fried chicken pieces are very flavorful but seem a bit overly salty.

Small place but nice decor and friendly staff. Table of 2 was sat immediately, but could definitely see a wait on most days. Decent selection of food and drink. Food was fairly authentic and had a nice presentation. For the price, the portion size was decent, but if you're used to getting big portions of Taiwanese food for low price, you may think these dishes are a little pricey (even if your total bill is low). I would eat here again!

My favorite Taiwanese street food. The pork belly bun just melt in your mouth! All the small plates were great! I have tried 90% of their dishes on the menu and all were good!

Convenient location in midtown, in shopping center across from Piedmont park provides ample parking. Small, well decorated space, friendly staff. Menu didn't explore Taiwanese cuisine the way I had hoped, pretty basic fare, but the pig ears were a treat! The oxtail was also tender and flavorful. It was a large portion and very filling. Would recommend sticking with small plates to explore the menu.

Taiwanese Food is a niche in the realm of Asian Cuisine. Basil fried chicken bits, beef noodle soup, pork belly bun, minced pork with rice are some of the things that come to mind. I didn't see pork chop on the menu so that was kind of a bummer; no bubble tea either but I'm ok with that! Lol Their pork belly bun was delicious, definitely a win! So was their Ru Ruo Fan (minced pork with rice), that was all sorts of yummy! If you're homesick for Taipei, give this place a try. 要買要快喔~! Their 3 cup chicken wings was a let down. It's supposed to have the texture of a stewed or braised chopped chicken where as this was a fried chicken wing with sweet basil sauce. It's more like something you'd find on the menu at Buffalo Wild Wings than an authentic Taiwanese shop.
