Originally planned to stay Thursday to Sunday. But stayed until Wednesday (3 days extra) bc we were enjoying ourselves and the resort was doing a promotion to book additional nights. Came during low season and actually enjoyed it more. We had the honor of Sergio taking care of us for the duration of our stay. If you decide to visit this hotel, please request Sergio as his attention to detail, remembering personal preferences as far as food and drinks was so amazing. He made us feel at home and there was never a worry the whole time we stayed there. He went above and beyond.

Absolute best place! Food was delicious, staff was very attentive & made our stay wonderful & Sergio was amazing!! Loved the coffee served in our room, delicious breakfast served on the patio looking at the beach. Although this time of the year the beach & water was full of seaweed (not their fault) our stay was incredible. Watch out for mosquitoes!!! They are everywhere. U need mosquito spray for sure. The high end expensive restaurants all had mosquitos but the Ahau restaurant was on the water so the breeze made it bearable! But you still need bug spray!!!

From start to finish our experience at Ahau was incredible! We were greeted by Junior who helped us get checked in. He asked us what we planned to do for dinner and we hadn’t researched any of the restaurants yet- He gave us recommendations and booked us reservations at multiple places because we couldn’t decide what style of food to eat! He was amazing. Coffees in the lobby were so good. We did a morning yoga class upstairs overlooking the beach. Would 10/10 return. Junior made our experience great!

Returning Guests We’re currently staying at this hotel and truly appreciate its excellent location and the beautiful ocean-view villas. However, several areas need attention: • Restaurant: The menu desperately needs an update. Many items lack freshness and are overpriced for the quality. We tried several dishes, and unfortunately, none of them were tasty. Breakfast is brilliant and very fresh, made to order! • Villas: The ocean-view villas are peaceful and beautifully situated, but they could use a minor upgrade to meet the expectations set by the price point. In particular, the sliding doors need repair, as they don’t function smoothly and detract from the overall comfort, like in their sister hotel Villa Pescadores • Beach Maintenance: Seaweed cleaning on the beach seems more like a formality than a genuine effort. The beach could be maintained more consistently. We hope management takes this feedback seriously—this hotel has a lot of potential with just a few key improvements.

A charming resort right by the beach. My room has the most amazing sunrise view. But do take note, it’s an eco-friendly resort, so there’s no phone, TV or minibar. Every request is done through WhatsApp. Its own restaurant has quite the menu to sate your appetite, though there are tons of eateries outside on the main street. The best place to relax and switch off from the world.

Wonderful experience! Tip: rooms on the ground floor are quieter at night. 2nd floor rooms are a bit more direct earshot from the afterhours club nearby (Bonbonniere). My in-laws weren't able to tune it out, but the hotel was very understanding and accommodated a move to a lower unit with a nice gift too. I highly recommend staying here. It's as central as it gets, food is great (and good value). Beach area is perfect, and has a roped off area for hotel guests. Some suites have a designated day bed too, but there were always options.

We have just left from a 4 night fabulous stay here. Myself, my husband & 17 yr old daughter shared a beachfront ocean view 2 bed room which was plenty big enough for the 4 nights. The only room issue we encountered was that the water pressure was quite weak but we weren’t overly bothered by it enough to complain. The staff here are exceptional and attentive and can’t do enough for you. A special Thankyou to Sergio who always greeted us with a smile and an offer of a mimosa! Morning coffee to our room was included with our booking which was available by WhatsApping room service from 7.30am.|The location of the hotel is perfect and a short walk to some fabulous restaurants.|The hotel breakfast and lunches were delicious - and the smoothie bowls from Sana Sana are a must try too. We visited the jungle gym which was free as a guest of the hotel. |Yes the seaweed is particularly bad at this time of year but this didn’t hinder our trip at all as we don’t often swim in the sea…the sand on the beaches is still|Lovely and white and clear it’s just unfortunate it has a thick layer of seaweed blocking the way to the sea. There are lots of workers out early in the mornings and during the day attempting to move some of it but it feels pretty pointless for them as there’s so much of it this year. We didn’t find that it smelt bad … only the occasional little whiff of it where it’s been uprooted to be moved off the beach.|Thank you to all the staff at Ahau for making our first trip to Tulum a memorable trip 🩷

Sergio is the BEST!!! All servers are amazing tho. Food is great & is the coolest place to eat in July due to the breeze coming off the water. The bugs everywhere else were soooo bad in July. Food is great too. 10/10 especially the servers

Yelp
We are obsessed with Ahau!! The location is perfect, the amenities are great, and the staff are unbelievable. We stayed in the junior ocean front suite and it honestly is one of the nicest places we ve stayed. The view is a 10/10. We also love that they have live music almost every night and their restaurant is fantastic for lunch. They had one of our favorite meals in tulum - the shrimp alla talla. Highly recommend getting it. The ceviche negro was delicious as well. I'm literally thinking of just making this an annual trip for us. My husband and I have had one of our best vacations yet here

Yelp
Unfortunately we would not go back or recommend this spot. We visited for 4 nights and had an ocean view room which was quite pricey. The first night we were kept awake past 1am with loud music coming from a neighboring resort/club. Not only was the music loud but the bass was turned up so you felt vibrations throughout the night. My boyfriend began researching alternative hotels and even considered flying home early as he was so unhappy. The first person we spoke with at the desk acted surprised and told us we wouldn't hear music on our second night, that was not the case. We were told we could report it, which we tried to but no one was at the desk that late and security just said there was nothing that they could do. We again ended up awake late that night and cancelled our scheduled snorkeling tour (lost over $130) as we were too exhausted to go. We spoke with the desk staff again, I felt like they genuinely listened to us and acknowledged the issue but said they're manager was speaking with the other resorts manager to see what could be done, unfortunately we knew that meant nothing would be resolved during our stay. Things we liked: room was pretty good, great view, clean beach - staff raked seaweed, tasty appetizers from the bar, morning coffee service, relaxed bohemian beach vibe. Things we didn't like: noise! our shower was either super hot or freezing - they adjusted it but it only helped a little, non guests could visit the beach area, the shower door wouldn't stay shut on its own, there is very little bathroom privacy, barking dogs early in the morning. Some of the little things aren't a big deal but they start to add up when you're already irritated. The desk asked about our stay at check out and I shared my frustration but my bf said I was too kind and I agree. Although the hotel was not making the noise, this was a known issue (they've acknowledged it and I've read other reviews) and they have not fixed it or notified guests in advance nor did they offer us any solutions or options other than ear plugs! We paid a lot of money for a not so good experience and we're flying home exhausted after what should've been a relaxing stay.

Yelp
This place was beautiful! The staff was super welcoming and friendly. We had a beautiful view of the beach and it was relaxing to enjoy a delicious meal in such beautiful weather. We each decided to share taco platter and shrimp empanadas. I absolutely loved it all! We also enjoyed the 2 for 1 drinks advertised. This is a great place for food. The restaurant is connected to the beach hotel and the arts center.

Yelp
My husband and I visit Ahau because we wanted to see Ven a la luz but unfortunately, it was closed for maintenance. We were so bummed but we decided to hang out here and have a few drinks with our ceviche. The view was absolutely Amazing! Warm weather, blue waters, great service, amazing foods, and cute dogs roaming around to say hi to all the guests. I definitely want to come back!!

Yelp
Stumbled upon heaven. I waited to book my room until I got to tulum. Panicked, had no wifi and just drove up and down the street til I saw something I liked. Little did I know when the sunrise came, I'd be greeted with absolute paradise. Everyone was so helpful and kind, I felt safe and well taken care of. It's on the pricey side, but you get more than you pay for. Wake up early, watch the sunrise, take a nap, get up for breakfast on the beach for acai bowls at raw love (connected to the property) get in the pool for your coffee and homemade granola bar service... then grab some lunch. The music on property goes from zen all morning til about 11 then the lounge music to really set off the vibe. They have a wood fired pizza and fresh fish bar on the beach. We stayed up by the pool for our lunch to just look out. We got the fresh catch of the day ceviche that they serve with house made ground corn chips and habanero, and we got the wood fired shrimp plate that was massive and amazing. There is a sweet little family right on the beach selling hand made beautiful bracelets, macrame swim covers and the dreamiest macrame sun catchers that take 3 days to hand knit in a variety of textures and styles. This place was an absolute dream!!!

Yelp
Ahau Tulum is right on the beach and in the middle of town. Very easy to get around for shopping and fun! The food at the hotel is really wonderful, the staff is very attentive. I really enjoyed the empanadas they were made from scratch, every morning.

Yelp
my group had come here for breakfast, all of the food we each had was SOOOO delicious!!! The service here is very is awesome! Our server, Emanuel was the best and very attentive. The steak, huevos rancheros were great portion sizes as well!

Yelp
Visited their beach club for a day and the experience was a 10/10. Incredible, friendly staff, comfortable bed and the steak tacos were way better than I was expecting

Yelp
We stayed here for 4 nights in December in one of the little huts on the grounds. It is definitely the epitome of glamping in a high-end resort. We were pretty surprised with how small the room was and how rustic the accommodations and bathroom were. But we didn't spend much time in the room anyway. The grounds upkeep are impeccable, and you feel like you are in a beach oasis. I loved hearing the crashing waves from our room. And because we were guests, we had access to the beach beds and food/drink service. We did yoga some days, had brunch there most days, and one day while I skipped yoga ($20 per person), I waited for my friend and had a latte in their open lounge area and read a book. SO RELAXING. Every morning, they offered complimentary coffee and cookies to be delivered to your room in the morning. And we received a welcome cocktail when we checked in. You also don't have to pay when visiting the famous art installation next door, just let them know your name/room #. Surprisingly, the food/drink prices were on the lower end of all of the other restaurants on the strip. That was nice considering how expensive it was to stay at the hotel!!! On the weekend, there is a dj at the beach bar which makes for a fun day on their beach beds. Lots of good people watching including all of the influencers that Tulum appears to cater to. Lots of beach vendors walking along the beach. This is definitely a cool piece of paradise.

Yelp
We stayed here for 5 nights and it was a little slice of paradise. We were here the last week before they were closing for renovations for a couple months but I felt like the service and accommodations were still top notch. The only thing we missed out on was the Aerial Silks yoga. The room was small but luxurious. The had a top level ocean view room. The bed was super comfy and faced the large glass doors that opened to the patio. The view was wonderful. The entire building is made up of wood and straw which gave it that unique jungle feel but it also means it doesn't make for good sound proofing. At night we could hear the bass from the music at surrounding restaurants and hotels. The morning coffee and baked good service was great and was free which was nice since everything else was expensive. The food and drink at the restaurant/bar were yummy but definitely higher price point but it seems like most places in Tulum are about the same. The morning yoga was awesome and so relaxing with the view of the ocean and sound of the waves. It was $20/person. We also participated in a Temezcal which was a pretty crazy experience. That was $75/person. The staff at Ahau was excellent. Everyone was very friendly and attentive during our stay. I do wish that Ahau had a pool since the ocean was full of seaweed. I was bummed that we still had to pay a food and beverage minimum to use the sister hotels pool. I feel like that should be included. I did like the free pass the to the Tulum Jungle gym though. That was a nice perk.

Yelp
Got scammed by the waiter Emmanuel. When it came time to pay he claimed their machine was broken and they could only take cash. He quickly added up the total on a calculator and we stupidly trusted him. The next day when we looked at the menu and added everything up, we realized he overcharged us by $800 pesos. SMH BEWARE!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Ahau is such a perfect little "getaway from it all." An opportunity to disconnect and be at peace with the sights and sounds of the ocean. It's right on beach with the most picturesque scene of clear waters, white sand and blue sky. Nothing but your bathing suit, coverup and chanclas necessary. Upon arrival your feet meet a sandy pathway lined by palms that lead you to the reception or your cabana. We were warmly greeted by Monse who made us feel right at home. Tanet showed us the way to our master suite which couldn't be any more perfect. Thank you to everyone at Ahau. Wish I was still there!

Yelp
Make a reservation ahead of time. We called several times for a reservation but could not get through. They had beach beds available in the beach club for walk-ins but since we did not have a reservation, we had to pay $150 pesos for 4 hours of parking down the street. The beach bed reservation includes access to a small infinity pool facing the ocean, outdoor shower, and two towels. They keep your ID until you return the towels. The waiters and staff are friendly and very attentive, that was the highlight of our experience. Excellent DJ. Food was great with some vegetarian options, including beyond meat burgers. Drinks were very watered down, disappointing given the prices. It is in a well-traveled area of the beach but not too crowded. There are several individuals walking by the beach bed selling souvenirs and a few boutiques at the resort if you want to shop. The beachfront was beautiful. To the visit the art park with the sculpture, you have to pay and additional $3 USD per person.

Yelp
If your version of luxury is bugs in your bed and noise.... For $1000 a night we were covered in bites from bugs in our bed, had workers talking and smoking outside our patio doors all day and could hear every noise from the room upstairs. Oh, and housekeeping stole stuff from us. I mean, if it was $300 a night maybe but all this for the low low price of $1000?! ¡Qué descaro! It was so bad the manager, Carla, said she'd refund us the last two nights of our reservation so we paid for another hotel. That was over a month ago and we've seen no refund and zero response to our emails.

Yelp
The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. No working toilets in your hut, electricity geos out 4 times a day, no water that is safe. Unsanitary as you can't use the toilets here. You have to throw Pooh toilet paper in a basket next to the toilet and the seat on the toilet did not fit. You just sit on the rim. I had jewelry come up missing also. We had no water for a day and a half. Roaches everywhere and they could've even arrange transportation for us. THE HAVE NO POOL it is a hot tub that could fit 6 people and looks nothing like the photo on their website. I came home with a severe bacterial infection. Sand has garbage in it and there are homeless Caucasian beach people all over. It was just super gross!! We left after a fire finally and all of our belongings being ruined by the smoke and fire extinguishers they unleashed without saying hey watch out. The hotel managers are all European and Caucasian the only Mayan or Hispanic people you see are the ones doing the labor and hard work it was awful! They were supposed to refund money to us and of course that was a lie also. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place it's awful!

Yelp
We stayed at Ahau Tulum for our honeymoon, I got to say the view is amazing. The room itself is beautiful. You are right in front if the beach. I am giving it a 3/5 due to the noise from the night clubs around that play all night and unfortunately hear all night long playing. The sun also hits your eyes very early morning and there aren't any black out curtains to cover the sun. The staff is very accommodating I must say. Overall thisis more of a party environment area. If you are looking to relax this is not the place.
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely a hidden paradise sitting off the beach area of Tulum. Margaritas chips and salsa with a stunning view is a beginning for a hungry bunch. The Buffalo Wild Wings were crispy and spicy just the way I like them. Tasty salads for my friends and juicy hamburgers for the rest. I failed to mention the fries are awesome.

Yelp
Love this place Minus the fact that they have no pool. Because it is the time of year where the beach in Tulum is filled with seaweed I was really disappointed about no pool! Other than that I am in love with the design and vibe of this entire jungle themed resort... Staff here was unbelievable and extremely accommodating. Security stands at front to monitor who comes in and out. We stayed in two different rooms on ocean view and the other was the smallest room available and we loved both with their very unique styles. They give you access to Tulum Jungle Gym which was a huge plus for me...They have yoga classes available daily which is awesome... Overall so happy with our stay here.

Yelp
Came here in September 2022, ordered regular food and drink took 15 mins for our drink and 40 for our food and it came out wrong. I had ordered the breakfast ahua and they completely forgot my coffee an hour in. Food was okay, NOT WORTH THE PRICE. Every other place I've gone to was great, this was such a horrible experience. Waiters never around and they had no people so I didn't understand how they lacked so much? Gratuity was included even though it was shit. Honestly just don't come here, regret spending as much as I did on okay food and terrible service.

Yelp
Brilliant breakfast of fresh seasonal fruit beautifully displayed. The rustic oatmeal was delicious as well. By far the best coffee I've had while in Tulum and the beach setting is absolutely magnificent.

Yelp
TL;DR Pretty, not perfect. (But what is?) Tulum has been on the top of my travel list for several years now. Upon getting buy-in from the boy, I knew exactly where I wanted to stay; Ahau had also been on said list. We stayed in a hut, because I'm obsessed with tree houses, and while it was absolutely adorable, it was extremely cramped and buggy. Regardless of how careful you are to shut the door and use the mosquito net, the bathroom floor has massive openings to the unit below - which has the bathroom completely open to the outdoors. Hence, many, MANY bugs will get in. There is also no space to put bags or clothes in the huts (the bed takes up the entire room). We ended up leaving most things in our suitcase and just rummaged for them in the darkness every day. Oh, yeah. That too. It's super dark in there. You will become an expert in feeling out everything you're looking for. PROS: - Prettier than the photos (when does THAT happen...?!) - Great staff - Cozy day beds (included!) - Great beach - Good location - Good food - View from the restaurant - PUPPIES! CONS: - Mosquitos - Inflexible menu (got charged arbitrary amounts for the slightest modifications -- leaving out, not adding, things) - Mosquitos - No room for personal belongings in the huts - Mosquitos - The huts let very little light in, so it's hard to find things in your bags...which there's already no room for - Mosquitos - Zero soundproofing (good luck getting any sleep in the huts) - Mosquitos - Yoga is for a fee, NOT included, and it was very expensive - Mosquitos - You can't park your own car, and the valet folks aren't always available or prompt - Mosquitos mosquitos mosquitos everywheeeerrreeee BONUS: here's a cool video about the owner / Ahau's story https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCTFQ5N3E58

Yelp
We had an amazing 5 day, 4 night stay at the Ahau Tulum. From start to finish the staff here were friendly, informative and attentive to all of our needs. I emailed the Ahau a couple months back and Filiberto and Moises took care of everything, including private transportation to/from CUN. Honestly, when traveling to Mexico and making all reservations via email one can be a bit anxious that everything will turn out ok - I'm here to assure you, it will! You are in good hands with these gentleman or any other staff member at the Ahau. As soon as we departed the airport our sign was up and our ground transpo was ready to get us to Tulum. Upon arrival, we were greeted - went over a couple key pieces of info for our stay (do not leave anything on the floor due to the expected storms) and were shown to our suite No. 15. Within moments of putting our luggage down, the most delish spicy margaritas were delivered! My sons, alcohol free of course :) Honestly, the best spicy Margie I've had to date. We enjoyed these on our deck beside our hammock with two chairs and a table. The water containers that are refreshed daily are perfect for rinsing off your feet after beach time, to avoid tracking in a ton of sand. The suite was very nice, housekeeping was fantastic. Coffee and croissants are delivered daily after you've requested via text message. We missed them one day because we needed to leave early and the coffee wasn't ready yet but a very nice morning routine indeed. We experienced an issue with the toilet and they immediately came to the suite to fix it and also invited us to the restaurant to have breakfast while they did. Very generous! We enjoyed a lovely breakfast, where I had my very first coconut :) Fantastic! Renting bikes was a breeze and one of my most favorite activities to do here. You will most definitely want to rent these. Some have baskets, all have locks. The tires were a bit flat in my sons and we turned right back and security got air in them asap. The grounds are immaculate for a beach resort and the mornings I did wake up in time to catch the sunrise, maintenance staff were already on the beach raking up the seaweed and preparing the lounges for the day. The water tower is also something truly special - we took the opportunity to climb it several times to enjoy the most amazing views of the jungle and ocean. We caught a double rainbow and the sunset one evening. Pure magic! Last but definitely not least, Raw Love Café is located here on site - a few steps from our suite and it's the most delish raw vegan café you will find in Tulum. Perfection! With the absolute cutest set up of tables, swings, chairs and benches. The staff are phenomenal, I even had my boyfriend and son going raw by the final days ;) Grabbing a taxi, if needed from here is never a chore and one evening later at night they even had security to ensure we were guests which really makes me happy, that safety is in fact a priority during your stay as well. Baby sea turtles were hatching and making their way to the ocean from here which was certainly a sight to see for some beach goers one afternoon. Too cute! Just looking at their little tracks in the sand. The restaurant needed to close and have the lights off by 10P to ensure they went towards the ocean versus the light. Live music at 730P on Fridays, Yoga at 9A, Mayan Sweat Lodge... need I say more - this place has all that you'll need for a wonderful stay in Tulum. I couldn't imagine needing to research another resort to stay at in the area, as everything about Ahau met my needs and that's not something you'll often here from me. Upon check out, our ground transpo back to CUN was waiting for us and got us to the airport in plenty of time for an international flight. We were provided with cold bottled drinking water both ways and only had the bike rentals as an additional charge. We checked out and were told we'd receive 10% off of our next stay. I can't wait to return! Perhaps, during a time when it's not hurricane season ;) the strong winds and rain (obvi, completely outside of the resorts control) were the only small downfalls to an otherwise amazing visit.

Yelp
AMAZING staff!! So friendly, nice, polite, and very attentive. Their food is PHENOMENAL! And to top it off the restaurant is on the beach and it's just beautiful. I can easily say the food here was the best meals I've had in tulum. Forget all the fancy schmancy places... our waiter was very accommodating when I asked for the catch of the day cooked Mexican style. I came to Mexico for Mexican food! Not food cooked butter parsley or whatever, so they grilled my fish to perfection and gave me lots of pico de gallo. Don't even get me started on the octopus! Best damn grilled octopus I've ever had in life! Perfectly charred and not chewy. The salad, the potatoes, and the sauce it came with all married so well together. I pretty much licked the plate. The guacamole was on the money! Salsas and complimentary chips were yummy too! Oh and shout out to our server Martine!!!!

Yelp
This hotel is amazing. My sister got married in February at Akiin beach which was right next door. We actually found this hotel on Yelp! That might surprise some of you but looking for places on yelp in Tulum was honestly way better then trip advisor. My boyfriend and I stayed in one of the ocean view suites and it was perfect. It never got too hot, we always had a nice breeze at night when the AC turned off. It was also pretty quiet. Not to mention this place is super romantic and chill. When we come to tulum again, we will stay here again. I did the yoga class a few mornings and it was great! Not too challenging, but a nice way to start a morning on vacation. My boyfriend did the tulum jungle gym which is complimentary for hotel guests (yoga was $15) and he said he got his ass kicked. Make sure to go up to the water tower at night for sunset- it's beautiful. I wanted to go for sunrise but alas we were there for a wedding so early mornings weren't exactly happening. Bring bug spray for this!!! I got attacked. As for the hotels food, the breakfast is good. I would recommend going somewhere else for dinner. Also if you're an animal lover, there's dogs and cats everywhere! They're super friendly too. We did get woken up a few mornings to the dog barking but it was at a reasonable hour (like 8/9am) and a dogs bark doesn't really bother me. On our first night one of the cats actually followed us into our room and didn't want to leave, ha. Nacho was our fav dog and he even has taken a pic with Hugh Jackman (just ask the front desk) Love you Ahau! We will be back.

Yelp
Ecological or sustainable ?? FAIL!! This hotel is another ECO LIAR passed Ahau yesterday and sewage came out of the landscape from this hotel which is making advertising for the hand in hand living with nature. I don't think mother nature would be happy ... the sewage came 100procent brown out and smelled on the beach road side. For the prices they have they should be really sustainable.

Yelp
Ahau is a beautiful, rustic beach resort located in the secluded Tulum shoreline. Perfect for honeymooners, couples, and families seeking quiet beach time. I visited Ahau on two separate occasions this year. In January, we stayed in a beach level master suite that was as close to the water as you can get (http://bit.ly/1SiNNjI). Our room came with the reserved cabana in the photo. Other than no daytime AC (weak power grid), I found the room and amenities very comfortable. There is a vegan raw bar on-site that serves custom shakes and small bites. The owner went out of his way to take care of us when A got food poisoning. From making a soothing tea and even offering to get sap from a banana tree, he really went above and beyond. Note that the raw bar operates separately from Ahau so you can't add purchases here to your room. In October, we found ourselves back in Ahau, this time for a beach wedding. What a magical wedding it was! The staff made the experience flawless - from the beautiful setup to moving the dinner placement multiple times because of rain, they were prepared and executed well. The drinks flowed freely at the reception - the staff made sure of that. Trays of shots, margaritas, and mojitos kept coming around. They weren't strong, but they were tasty and not too sweet. At the dinner, the food was enjoyable. Fresh chips and ceviche, and the arrachera had great seasoning. For dessert, they had a churro stand. Awesome. Don't expect the modern amenities of a 5-star hotel, but come for a magical beach experience.

Yelp
My wife and I were visiting Tulum for the first time and had done quite a bit of research before settling on Ahau Tulum. We were looking for a hotel that captured the spirit of what Tulum is known for and Ahau delivered. Set amongst the tropical foliage and surrounding jungle just off the main road of Tulum's beaches, Ahau's use of bamboo and wood throughout the whole property created a nice ambiance and local feel. In this area, there's a range of properties, some trendy, some comfortable etc..Quite a few of them, gave me the impression, that they really could be found along any other tropical beach in the world. Besides the gorgeous beach, what I admired, was the character of the architecture on the property, the beautiful ocean front room, the laid back attitude amongst both the guests/staff and the morning Yoga classes on offer. We loved our ocean front top level room and found it to be quite cozy yet with enough space for two. A small balcony allowed for morning breakfasts in front of the sea or some evening relaxation. Fresh water was provided daily as well as a small selection of breakfast pastries and coffee. The staff was always accommodating to our requests and friendly enough to make our stay enjoyable. Air conditioning was available in the evening however we didn't find it necessary to use it at that time of year. I can say without a doubt that Ahau is certainly one of the most impressive properties when viewed from the beach. Lounge chairs were very comfortable and it never felt too crowded. A live band played on Saturday which added to the fun relaxing atmosphere. I was saddened to read of some recent issues with seaweed on the beaches in Tulum. When we were there in February this wasn't an issue and I hope it is resolved soon. I'm already looking forward to going back and wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Yelp
This gem is easy to pass considering the beauty is hidden way in the back behind a fortress of palm trees. Luckily a friend highly recommended we make a stop and grab a bite and boy am I glad we did. We loved this place so much we came back the next day for the stone crab fest special they were having. This place was rustic and beautiful built right on the sand with a breathtaking ocean front views and a live band. The staff was super attentive and the food was out of the planet!! Drinks were hard to beat. I could live here forever. Mmm!!

Yelp
Beware of this hotel..I booked a stay here on October 11th 2021 for me and my boyfriend to spend his birthday at Ahau from Feb 24th 2022 for 5 days. Unfortunately, something came up and I had to cancel. I immediately notified the hotel on Dec 2nd 2021 (2 1/2 months in advance) and as per the cancellation terms, I was entitled to a full refund of my deposit minus $100 administration fee. Joaquin from the hotel told me that my credit card could not be refunded (they don't refund credit cards at all) and that they had to wire me the refund. I found that odd but I went along and provided all paperwork immediately. I have been emailing asking for the status of my refund Nothing No response It has now been 2 1/2 months .. this is very unprofessional and disappointing from a hotel I have been to numerous times in the past and that used to be my #1 choice in Tulum.

Yelp
We were walking down the main beach road and saw the entrance of the Ahau hotel and decided to walk back. There were a lot of people, enjoying the beach, food and drink. We got a table on the restaurant patio and ordered some drinks/ the grilled octopus. There was a band playing at the beach bar and it was very relaxing/enjoyable. Great spot for a drink in the afternoon.

Yelp
The entrance is very picture worthy BUT when I came into the hotel for a drink and a snack, I was sooo let down. The service was horrible. We waited FOREVER to get a drink and when we finally got them, the drinks tasted like dirty water and sugar. Huge let down. The guacamole wasn't seasoned and the shrimp cocktail tasted like it had just bagged frozen shrimp. Then when we wanted our check it felt like we waited for 40 minutes. I couldn't wait to get out of there.

Yelp
We recently got back from our second trip to Ahau and it was just as amazing as the first. You can't find nicer people - everyone is so pleasant. We love Raw Love - having a smoothie bar in the middle of the hotel is just magical. Can't wait to be back next year!

Yelp
Amazing! This place has the best view and delicious food. It was my friend's bachelorette so they gave us free mezcal shots and dessert! Highly recommend. David and Juan Carlos were the best!

Yelp
What a wonderful experience at Ahau Tulum! Our daughter got married in Tulum and after researching many hotels and reading reviews, I decided to book at Ahau due to the smaller size of the property and the positive reviews. I was not disappointed at all! From many months corresponding with the reservations staff to checkout, everything was perfect. The rooms are exactly as described and you are steps away from the water. The views are beautiful from almost every room. A couple of our guests stayed in the Bali huts and loved them. Service for the rooms was prompt whenever we needed anything and I felt safe the entire time. The restaurant on the property was very good, great service and the restaurant/bar manager Daniel was a pleasure to work with. There is an additional menu for the beach but you can also have the main menu too. All the front desk staff are wonderful. I don't remember the woman's name but she has short dark hair and Nacho is her dog. She was so helpful with things and Nacho was a delight to have around. Jose, Eduardo and Javier were great! On our departure, our scheduled transportation failed to pick us up. Never fail, Eduardo and Javier got our group of 7 another van. We were very lucky!! I'm sure I am leaving so much out but I don't want to write a novel! I would highly recommend Ahau Tulum and we will be back, this is for sure.

Yelp
Food is great, waiters are very nice, the view is awesome but unfortunately I left my sunglasses in the bathroom by the security stand and literally 4 minutes later went back to get them, there was two cleaning ladies in there and said they didn't see anything. They quickly hurried away which left me with an intuitive feeling one of them had stolen them. I went over and spoke with security to see if they could help out in any way and was told that many people go in and out of the bathrooms so consider them gone. Both security guards gave me a poor attitude and clearly didn't want to help me out... As beautiful as a place can be, what good is it staying there if you can't leave something for a few minutes unattended? Very disappointed with the cleaning ladies and the security guards. If you want to feel a sense of security I highly recommend staying at Azulit.

Yelp
Really enjoyed staying here! The rooms were great and the food was phenomenal. Really miss their guac, so fresh and so yum! Hotel staff were so friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the cenote experience they helped arrange for us. Overall, an unforgettable first time at Tulum.

Yelp
We stayed at the sister location down the road (see my review for the Alaya, it was incredible), but we got all of our confirmation emails from an address at Ahau, so we got confused and tried to check in there first. I guess it happens often and we eventually figured it out, but the lady at the front desk wasn't the nicest about it, giving us a bit of a look when she said no one was supposed to check in that day. I'm sure once you're a guest they treat you like royalty like they did at the Alaya, but it was a bit of an unfriendly start to our stay. Beyond that mishap, the Ahau seemed amazing. There's a large lobby/restaurant area and it's been around longer than the Alaya so seems to be more of a scene. It's really beautiful at night when they light all of the glowing orange lights all over the place. We came back to visit and have lunch on the beach one day, and I really enjoyed my Azetc salad, which was a unique combo of avocado, cheese, arugula, tortilla strips and a spicy and delicious chile vinaigrette type dressing. I also tasted the pasta primavera and it was also super tasty. I ordered a fresh coconut to sip from, and after I was done the guys did an impressive machete chop so that I could dig into the meat and enjoy the rest of it. That plus a couple of shots of Mezcal helped me forget all about the slightly unwelcoming first impression we got. I would recommend this spot to anyone. In an area with tons of luxurious hotel options, the Ahau (and the Alaya) are at the top of the list for me!

Yelp
Boy, I researched hotels and resorts like a freak before finally booking the Beach House Cabana at Ahau for my honeymoon. I am so completely pleased, happy, and in love with my decision. Ahau was perfect from the moment we drove up - they valeted our car, took care of our luggage, brought us cocktails at check-in, walked us to our cabana, and then had a bottle of champagne delivered to our porch. The Beach House we rented was literally on the beach, closer than any other room. We woke up and opened up our doors and walked right to the water every morning. Another huge plus - the bed. You know when you're about to lay down on your bed in a hotel and you imagine how mediocre it's going to feel? I was shocked at how plush and soft and comfortable the bed was. During our stay we honestly stayed here most of the time. It was too nice to leave. Ahau has a better beach set-up than so many other resorts. Azulik is on a rock cliff, The Beach Tulum is cramped, etc. etc. When we rented bicycles and toured around looking at the other places I had considered booking, I was SO happy I chose Ahau because nothing else looked to compare. Every single person employed by Ahau was awesome. Special thanks to Juan Carlos and Eduardo for all of their recommendations and help - they are super friendly guys. The entire stay at Ahau was a dream experience, where you just keep looking over at each other and smile and start laughing in disbelief at how perfect everything is.

Yelp
Where do I start? This place was just awesome. Stayed here early December 2017 for my birthday. I arrived around 8:30am and was offered a complimentary bellini-like cocktail. Why not?! I figured it was the afternoon somewhere in the world and it was my birthday weekend after all. I spent the next few hours relaxing in the restaurant and in the hammocks on the beach before checkin. I stayed here with one other friend. We stayed in the top floor Bali hut closest to Raw Love. I was determined to stay right on Tulum Beach without breaking the bank, so the Bali hut was perfect. These rooms aren't the closest to the water compared to other rooms on the property, but you are still on the beach. I read reviews that it's better to stay in a top floor hut as other reviewers stated you can hear everything from the bottom floor huts. The Bali hut is very small and there's really nowhere to put your clothing, etc. You have a bed, ceiling fan, mosquito net, and a cute little private bathroom. I didn't really mind as I was barely in the room and was spending all day on the beach sipping cocktails and eating delicious sea food or exploring other parts of Tulum. Since it was December we never used the fan. It was pretty cool at night (dare I say a little chilly a couple nights)... and so lovely to hear the ocean waves during the night. One complaint I have is that you can definitely hear staff shuffling, talking, and banging about in the morning. And I think one night I did hear music from the bar across the street or some other venue near by waaaay into the night... So ear plugs may not be a bad idea. The other complaint is that although there is hot water, it was hard to manage the temp in the shower. It was either too hot or too cold. Nothing in between and sometimes the hot water would only work for a minute or two. I spent half the time in the shower trying to tinker with the temp. Frustrating for this curly-haired lady who loves her hot showers. The restaurant was great, with a perfect sea view. They had a decent selection of food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I recommend the yogurt and fruit compote, breakfast burrito, and the smoked marlin empanadas were especially delicious! The drinks were good. I loved sitting at the restaurant reading a book while I sipped on a coffee, juice, or cocktail and stared out at the palm trees and blue Caribbean Sea. It was so lovely. There was also some live entertainment in the late afternoon/early evenings that we enjoyed. They offered morning yoga for an extra charge, but I never checked it out. Guests of the hotel are free to use the beach seating/lounge chairs in front of the hotel without having to buy food or drink or pay extra for usage. The hotel is basically in the middle of the beach strip. Not too far south or north. Just a few minutes walk to some popular restaurants like Hartwood or Gitano, swanky boutiques, etc. And Casa Jaguar is across the street. There's also a yummy gelato place across the street and our room was right next to Raw Love. It was a great location. The staff were super sweet and helpful. And the property cats were cute. We rented a couple bikes our last day and went for a bike ride. We discovered that the seat was broken on one of the bikes and kept sliding down, which ended up being a real pain. So make sure to check your bike before heading out. Also, do yourself a favor and get up one morning to lay in a hammock and watch the sunrise or take a dip in the warm sea as the sun comes up. You won't regret it.

Yelp
Paradise on earth. Bio chic eco reserve huts overlooking the beach. Excellent chilled out service, unpretentious, earthy. Wood fired grill, delicious food and chilled beer. Try the grilled vegetables platter, fresh grilled fish of the day. Fresh coconut water. Which after you are done they cut open, peak and add some spice and lime to the coconut meat. Boy I could just retire. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Food is outstanding. Be aware that "propina" or "tip" is added on to your bill. Lobster knocked my Sox off.

Yelp
Bali huts for the minimalistic. This review is bali hut-biased. Don't get me wrong, Ahau is probably the best property you could stay within the jungle strip of Tulum. The location is PERFECT, it's literally in the split middle. Across, you can party at I Scream Bar (open until 5am) and there's a great cocktail bar to the left facing I Scream Bar called Cexontle. So, the BALI HUT.. Incredibly beautiful and it's so cool to live in an actual treehouse. However, I urge you to reserve a room on the top floor and if that's unavailable, go for a different room. My boyfriend and I had to deal with the noise of the footsteps above us quite often and it wasn't very gentle. They offer ear plugs but it didn't help much especially with their property owned superfood cafe, Raw Love in our literal backyard (the bathroom is outdoors, the toilet has its own straw hut-like room. We heard the blenders every morning. Our sheets weren't changed during a 5-night stay and we slept with sand at the bottom of our feet every night :/ They offer a morning beverage service so we would sit outside of the room every morning to sip and saw the workers working very hard to set up for new guests so I'm not sure why our sheets never got changed. The lights are also so dim during the night and day, it was really difficult getting ready to go out. That's why I said, the bali hut is better for more minimalistic people or couples because my bf and I had to ask for an extension cord because there were no outlets in the restroom. At one point, I was curling my hair on the bed and without a mirror because there were none inside the hut. We didn't have much walk space after we designated space for our luggage. I really suggest they install a long mirror. What's nice is the fan inside the mosquito net of the bed which kept us so cool, we hardly used the newly installed AC units. PLEASE PLEASE don't wait and APPLY MOSQUITO REPELLENT AND USE THE MOSQUITO NET EVERY NIGHT starting the first night. This will make your trip soo much better. No one really stressed the importance of this to us and I came home with over 40 bug bites I'm desperately trying to fade. The restaurant is very good. Make sure you convert your cash before heading into Tulum because the conversion rates are different everywhere you go and you also don't want to pay 20USD for a taxi down .2 miles(we didn't know) and have no change. We struggled a lot with this. Ahau is one of the only hotels that offer nonresidents to enjoy their beach, we actually bumped into our friends staying in Cancun a couple times. I would really like to stay here again, but in a different room. Because they offer a 10% returning discount, that definitely gives an incentive for a reunion sooner than expected. Tulum is unbelievable and truly like no other! I forgot to mention when you stay here, you get a Jungle gym pass and save $25/day!

Yelp
Worst service every. Actually embarrassing. We are seated by the host. Waited over 15min, no menus, no drinks, no one even came by the table. Looking around the waitstaff were to busy flirting with the yoga chicks. Got up and walked out. Told the hostess. She was embarrassed and told the manager who then proceeded to stare meanly at us. It's a shame because we are helping fiends plan a wedding next door and would have been a great option for guests to stay. They just lost out on $1000's. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Unless your a hot yoga chick in lulu lemons. Disgraceful. Would give negative stars if possible..

Yelp
My husband and I spent a few days here during our honeymoon, and were so sad when we had to leave! We booked the beach level master suite, which was beautiful. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and so was the hammock on the porch. We had a reserved cabana on the beach, and servers from the restaurant brought our drinks out there to us. They also have a masseuse we booked, who came out and gave us a couples massage right on our deck overlooking the beach. We ate at the restaurant the whole time we were there, and were never disappointed with the food. They had some of the best ceviche I'd ever tasted! We were there late May, and though it was hot and muggy, we could keep our windows open at night, and the coastal breeze kept us very cool and comfortable. Listening to the waves while we slept was a bonus. Overall, our stay at Ahau Tulum was incredible and memorable. We hope to come back again someday!

Yelp
This place is a gem and the service was amazing. As soon as I arrived I felt like I was being welcomed to the family. This boutique style hotel is small and quaint. The grounds are well kept and absolutely beautiful. I stayed in the master suite on the bottom floor with a big porch facing the beach. It was complete serenity. I highly recommend this hotel. The food was delicious. I enjoyed a dinner with a live band and Raw Love is a great breakfast spot on the property too! I can't speak highly enough about this place.

Yelp
Food was exceptional and view was great, but he cleaning ladies are thieves and the security guards are in cahoots with them. The cleaning ladies would hang out pretending to sweep outside the bathrooms and would rush into the stall the second you walked out. I left something on the toilet paper dispenser for a moment and they already had it in their pocket, and were reluctant to give it back when I asked for it. Not a good feeling from a high end RESORT. Management if you are reading this you should get all new staff or at least pay them more so they don't feel so desperate to steal from your guests. It's a huge turn off ;)

Yelp
We really love this place. The food is great, staff very friendly, and prices not bad if you want to use a credit card. Tuna tostada is amazing!!! Huevos rancheros, Yum!

Yelp
We held our wedding and reception at the Ahau on June 3rd, 2016. Planning a wedding for 55 people in the US in 4 months is a super aggressive schedule and we were very hesitant about trying to pull off that timeline in Mexico 3000 miles from home. Thankfully our fears were completely unfounded and everything turned out perfect down to the last detail - tables, chairs, place settings, flowers, reception, etc! The dinner was better than any I've had at weddings in the US. Nisia, Ahau's wedding planner, was extremely helpful and proactive and made the whole process simple & worry free. Despite the long distance & occasional communications issues, we truly had no wedding anxiety and had a very fun & relaxed wedding week. The only black mark on the whole entire weekend was the weather - it started to rain just as the beach ceremony was about to start. Fortunately they were ready and handled it perfectly & efficiently - they opened the bar for us & started pouring drinks while they moved all the chairs inside. After maybe a 10 minute delay, we were ready to start the ceremony inside on the beautiful yoga deck - now with cocktails in hand. Aside from the actual wedding, everything about the Ahua oozes relaxation & romance. We had one of the top floor master suites right on the beach and loved the modern thatched hut vibe. We were slightly worried about not having AC in our room during the day but the sea breeze rendered that moot. Turns out we only ended up running the AC a few hours the whole week. The food in the restaurant is delicious - we rarely left the property for food the whole week we were there. The staff was extremely friendly & attentive as well - honestly the best service I've had in Mexico. Arturo the manager and all the restaurant/bar staff rocked it all week. All the attendees are pressuring us to renew our vows there every year now - we're in! Thank you so much for making our wedding one for the ages! DD & JV
