"A Kailua-local favorite, this expat-run operation is a dream come true for vegans who want to try the local fare. ‘Ai Love Nalo’s blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shop taps into the farm community in Waimānalo, and all the food is local and organic. Which explains why the tofu poke bowl is the next best thing to a fresh catch."

ʻAi Love Nalo is more than just a vegan restaurant — it’s an experience. We sat in the back garden area, which is open and surrounded by all kinds of plants: coconut, soursop, noni, lime, mango, banana, and other decorative greenery. You hear the birds singing, and the whole place feels peaceful and alive. I loved it so much I even took off my sandals to walk barefoot — grounding myself and really connecting with the earth. That moment made me feel calm and refreshed, and honestly, we ended up sitting there for a while just enjoying the environment, even more than talking about the food. As for the food, everything was colorful and fresh, but our absolute favorite was the BBQ Mushroom Sandwich — so delicious, flavorful, and satisfying. We also tried a few other dishes (see photos), and everything was beautifully prepared. ʻAi Love Nalo is definitely a gem on the Windward side of Oʻahu. If you’re looking not just for a meal but for an experience that connects you to nature while enjoying wholesome plant-based food, this is the place. 🌿✨

Google
We got the Medi Bowl and Buddha Bowl. The only way I can think to describe it is beautiful, delicious, light, but still satiating. Best meal I've had on the island. I honestly can't remember the last time I had a meal this good. Very highly recommend! The soft serve is also phenomenal.

Google
Vegan eatery in Waimanalo. Love their menu, we did not eat any of the food but our smoothies were delicious! Small little place with a few tables inside and more bar top tables and stools outside. If you want plant based food and drink options, this is a great spot to check out.

Google
Absolutely loved this little gem in Waimanalo! ’Ai Love Nalo is a chill, feel-good spot serving up fresh, vibrant vegan food with a local twist. Everything we tried—from the smoothie to the parfait—was super flavorful, refreshing, and beautifully made. You can really taste the love and quality in every bite. The vibe is peaceful and welcoming, and the mountain views out front make it even more special. Whether you’re vegan or just looking for something healthy and delicious, this place is 100% worth the stop.

Google
Looks like this place reopened and changed how they operate. You have to go around to the back and ordering is online only. It took us and two other couples a few minutes to figure things out. However, we are giving them the benefit of the doubt it just reopening as the place was clean (sitting in back patio) and the food was excellent. Mahalo.

Google
Food was delicious with great portions. I don’t personally seek out vegetarian spots, but this was delightful. Perfect for a beach picnic. Order ahead online. Backyard has picnic table seating under shade, perfect for toddlers and kids. They even had some toys available with lots of space to burn off energy, if needed.

Google
I would have loved to love this place because the menu is adorable. However compared to other plant food places I’ve been to it was just okay. I did like the local produce sourcing. The portions are small. (Medi bowl and portabello sandwich) Some of the dishes are not as appetizing as you might expect (lau lau). The signage at the front of the building is not so clear but the ordering is done by QR code web url and the pick-up window faces the outdoor covered seating area. Low value for money but like the concept and availability of this kind of food choice (it’s next to a McDonald’s) on this part of Oahu.

Google
I'm not vegan and I thought this food was delicious. Surprisingly good beet hummus in the Medi bowl. The ice cream was so smooth and tasty. We came here after spending a half day at Waimanalo Bay Beach (also highly recommend). My kids appreciated the games on the back patio, which kept them occupied while our food was being made.

Yelp
Ai Love Nalo is my favorite vegan restaurant on the island! The owner, Malia, is so passionate about bringing healthy food to the community & educating people on the importance of a healthy diet. Their friendly service & beautiful garden ambiance makes coming to eat here a real treat :) Medi Bowl: 9/10, according to their website it's their #1 best seller & I can see why! It's loaded with kalo-falafel, baba ganoush, beet hummus, & millet tabbouleh & served over greens with a balsamic vinegar dressing. The flavors go really well together, -1 only because I wish there was a bit more falafel!! Oh Wow Laulau: 11/10, my FAVORITE dish here!! I can't believe they found a way to make laulau taste so amazingly good. Local veggies are wrapped in taro leaves & soaked in a creamy coconut sauce, served with a side of tofu poke, rice, & salad. As others have mentioned, the tofu poke is probably the closest one could get to eating actual poke - the sauce is so flavorful & perfectly complements the laulau! They often sell out before the end of the day. Da Scrambler Plate & Wrap: 10/10 for the plate, 8/10 for the wrap. I always get both with spicy da scrambler sauce to add a kick! Both are so good, but the wrap is a bit messy to eat because it's packed so full. Orange Creamsicle & Cupid's Dream: Both 10/10, so flavorful & filling! The Orange Creamsicle tastes very similar to the Orange Dream Machine smoothie at Jamba & brings me back to my childhood! The Cupid's Dream is strawberry goodness in a cup, not to mention so aesthetically pleasing :)

Yelp
I am quite surprised this cafe gets high ratings. Perhaps because there are not many options around in Waimanalo? The food is just strange. We ordered two lunch meals and neither was something to be excited about. Falafel was undercooked and practically raw inside with strong off putting beany chickpeas flavor. Baba ghanoush was not bad but has zero eggplant flavor, strangely thick and pasty. Beet hummus did not taste of beets either, but had a pretty pink color. Kale was so salty it was almost inedible. Tofu poke had good flavor but was way too spicy. Both meals came on beds of greens but no dressing was included, it is extra you have to ask for. Nothing was enjoyable. Fruit smoothies are good but I imagine that is hard to screw up. There is a good variety of options. There are only a few tables inside and it gets quite busy during lunch hour. They have a lovely outdoor seating area at the back with a well kept garden and cute local chickens hang around for whatever falls off the table. The wait can be very long. First time we ordered smoothies and strangely they took our order and 10min later came to apologize that the machine was broken. We opted for a shake and that took another 10 minutes. Second time we ordered food and the owner warned us of half hour wait. In reality we got our food in over an hour. Big negative is lack of bathrooms. They literally send you to McDonals across the street. There is not even a sink to wash your hands before the meal. Bottom line: don't come here during lunch time because the wait is not worth it. Skip the food and get a smoothie to go. And don't stay long since you will be looking for a bathroom soon.

Yelp
Ai Love Nalo is such a gem! From the food to the atmosphere. I got the tofu scramble with a side of beet hummus, and it was exactly what I needed! It was fresh, flavorful, and nourishing without being heavy.I've been here numerous times and can say i have my favorites. Grandma Nani's Bread is a must (soft, hearty, and full of flavor), and the Buddha Bowl never misses. Everything tastes intentional and made with love! Great vibes, kind staff, and a peaceful, earthy setting that makes the whole experience better. If you're into wholesome plant-based food that actually tastes amazing, this is the spot!

Yelp
Food remains terrific, pick up window gone for a pick up counter inside (use front or back door),now with some indoor (A/C) seating, and a group table out front along with plenty of seating in back. Coming soon is the adjacent wellness center sure to have Zen and to go options--and parking.

Yelp
@fortunefoodfinds: "PINEAPPLEy it's Friday! An Outta This Swirled (vegan nice cream served with banana, pineapple, papapya, their housemade granola, cacao coco flakes, chocolate "magic shell" sauce, n' mixed nuts) from 'Ai LOVE NALO. Happy to have them back in Waimanalo, where you can find healthy vegan options if you didn't already know!" Staff: friendly Interior: some seating available Exterior: bar seating n' 2 table seating Wait time: 10 mins Parking: small lot in front Overall comments: haven't been here since pre-COVID so when I saw that they were open again I had to stop by. Interior is now maybe half the size. Food items still look great on the menu. Only ordered their outta this swirled this time so will need to come back. Dessert was still yummy just like I remember. Creamy n' plenty of fruit. If no one told you, you wouldn't think it's vegan!

Yelp
I have only tried the ice cream so far and every time it's when I am leaving the beach and want a tasty snack. Ample outdoor space with seating.

Yelp
Plant based heaven on the way to the most gorgeous beach on the island! Head to the back of the building and you'll see a QR code on the window to order straight on your phone. There wasn't an option to remove an ingredient on the ordering page, and I did have to remove one from my smoothie that I'm allergic to so I just knocked on the window and a lovely staff member helped me out. I got the "daily dose" aka the cold brew smoothie - it was delicious!! If you're dining in there is a cute back patio next to a garden. There are a few parking spots nearby too.

Yelp
I have seen Ai Love Nalo all of my Instagram feed so I just had to try it. We ventured out to Waimanalo on a Saturday and found the spot pretty easily. Their service window is around the backside of the building. But it's not in the traditional sense that you walk up and order. Everything is done online so you have to scan the QR code to purchase food online and pay for it. They will let you know when it's ready via text or will open the window. Preferably we should've ordered our food beforehand, but I didn't know that this was their ordering process. While we waited for our food, they have a very beautiful back area that includes grass and a covered patio for eating. There are some games for kids to play with and toys. But it was a very peaceful spot that was fun to relax in. I ordered the medi bowl, oh wow laulau, Buddha bowl, and the mini ulu chowder bowl. The Hawaiian food was good and I really like the flavor of the tofu poke. I wish there was some lomi lomi tomato or poi to go with it. The medi bowl had a great mix of toppings, my favorite being the beet hummus and I wish there was more! The Buddha bowl again was lacking in dressing. I see why there is alway extra dressing options with their bowls because I felt that there wasn't enough in each. The ulu chowder had rice in it which wasn't my thing and it made the whole soup taste like barley soup. I wish they had just done a chowder with ulu as a potatoes and every other normal thing since I am not a fan of grains in my chowder. They also have meal plans you can purchase which would be good if you want a plant based diet. I can't wait to come back and try more options!

Yelp
Plant based is a bit of a tough sell for my family but I was pleasantly surprised to watch two kids fight over beet hummus and falafels. I found their food really satisfying - fresh, flavorful, local, and you don't leave feeling gross. We got the medi bowl (fave), Buddah bowl (really close second), and bbq Porto sandwhich (really delicious but just not as wow as the bowls). If you're going to share order more of the falafels - they were great. I thought the servings and prices were reasonable (burger was a touch small). The drinks looked delicious but were pricey relative to the mains IMO so we didn't try on this go. I suspect we will next time...

Yelp
Cashless. Easy to use app that is posted on their fence close to the pick up window IN-BACK. Don't let the front fool you. They are OPEN and the enlarged seating area in back is quite peaceful to sit with a nice grassy yard for the keiki to play while you munch down your food. Either sit on a bench or bring a mat to picnic on the grass. You can't go wrong with ANY of the drinks. All 'ono! Daily Dose is my fave of all. I've tasted all of their meals and brah, ALL delicious! My top 3 FAVES are: 1. Tofu poke bowl 2. Ulu Chowder 3. Scrambler wrap My top refreshing items and Desserts: 1. Rainbow Parfait 2. Outta this Swirled 2. Gramma Nani's Bread (I wish they had a larger size) It's a bit of a wait for the order and worth the wait for made-to-order freshness! All menu and order options are here: https://ailovenalo.toast.site/order/ai-love-nalo-41-1025-kalaniana-ole-hwy The app is easy to use and it is a good brain workout for memory! lol! No worries, they got you covered if you forgot your phone! Just knock on the Pick Up Window.

Yelp
This plant based paradise in Waimanalo is back! After a hiatus Ai Love Nalo is back to serving up vegan / vegetarian food that supports our local, regenerative farmers. Their mission is really about feeding Hawaiʻi healthy, culturally appropriate, and high-nutrient foods. A truly farm-to-table spot that puts community first. Things have changed a bit since they've reopened. Unfortunately, they've closed their indoor dining. You can order from their website, they have a QR code on the street facing side of the building. On the backside of the building is a window that you can pick up your food from once you get a text that your order is ready. They have an outdoor garden eating area with a nice big lawn. It really feels like you're at a family paina. We brought our dog and he loved it out there- even with the chickens walking around! I usually get their laulau but they were out of stock-- so I ordered their kaukau lūʻau, which is like a plant based version of squid lūʻau-- with ulu and taro. That comes with a side salad and their tofu poke. If you don't eat fish-- I swear their spicy tofu poke is the closest thing to poke you'll ever get. I also got their "it's mint to be" smoothie-- a blend of banana, coconut milk, mint cocoa nibs.

Yelp
Ai Love Nalo is a heaven sent for all non-meat eaters. Everything I ordered was amazing, super ono (tasty) and filling. The food literally had me in tears on how flavorful it was. I ordered the Buddha bowl, wow laulau, poi and daily dose. Trust me when I say you won't be disappointed. From the time we walked in we were greeted with aloha, friendly welcoming faces and a sense of ohana (family) vibes. Anu was the first face we saw when we walked in and she made a lasting impression I will never forget. While we waited for our food we were offered a sample of their peanut butter treat, it was amazing! After we finished our meal we were then offered a vegan nice cream with chocolate swirl, again, amazing! It hasn't even been a week since my visit and I am going back today. I want to try everything on their menu! Parking was not a problem at all, we parked right in front of the store, 10 steps away. Mahalo Ai Love Nalo & Anu for your passion, compassion and aloha.

Yelp
I remember awhile ago when Ai Love Nalo closed. Wellll they are baaaa-aack! I'm happy to see a waimanalo business re-open. The building is one door down from Mcdonalds, and the building itself is their kitchen. So you go around the back and order from a window or use the QR code (how modern!) and then wait for a text or for your name to be called. Then, behind the building, you can enjoy your food at one of the tables under the tent. My husband and I recently came just to get ice cream and it was so good. The soft serve kind of tasted like soy milk, but it's probably a mix of different non-dairy things. It was topped with some granola, honey, fruit and chocolate sauce(?). I will definitely be back for lunch and/or a smoothie. They also have fruit parfaits that you can get topped with poi. I've never thought to eat poi with fruit before.... It's all vegan and very healthy. the workers here are sweet. One of them is my former student and she loves working here so I feel good about giving them my business knowing that they take care of their workers.

Yelp
Found this place back in 2016 and have made it our go to spot when on Oahu! Fresh delicious fast! Today was no exception...hadn't been since 2019 and it's as if time stood still. Amazing as ever! :-) highly recommend!!!

Yelp
I ordered the daily dose smoothie. We walked around the building wondering where to order, then saw a QR code with the menu. We scanned it and placed our order. After we waited ten minutes I got a text that said our order is ready. My husband waited in the courtyard and no one acknowledged him until another confused customer knocked on the window to ask how he can order. So we waited another 13 minutes for the girl to just pull it out of a fridge. As for the smoothie, it mainly tastes like an old banana. Not a fan and wouldn't come here again. Overall, just a confusing service and not worth your time/money sadly.
google avatar

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Words cannot describe how stoked I am that this spot opened back up! Love everything on the menu-- so balanced and nourishing. If I had to pick one item as a fave it would probably be the Buddha bowl. I usually order pickup via their website and then eat at the beach.
google avatar

Kacie S.

Yelp
Food was just okay to me, tasted very healthy and fresh though! Kinda confusing ordering system. You have to order online instead of at a counter. Food took a while, but the workers were nice. You'll get a notification when the food's ready and press the buzzer at the window in the back to let them know you're there to pick up the food. Seating available outside.

Yelp
What other place do you know has basically the SAME EXACT MENU after re-opening 5 years later?! Can you imagine your favorite place giving you the same pre-pandemic nostalgic feeling in their environment and delicious food? Once you meet their staff, you realize their food is truly made with love - which is one of the many reasons 'ai love nalo. This is a place that is worth the road trip to Waimanalo - every time.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome vegan offerings! Unlike other vegan establishments Ai Love Nalo serves super fresh, very tasty dishes Their menu provides a nice selection. For every palate. The lau Lau plate was recommended by a friend but I had the Medi plate and my husband had Da Scramble bowl. Which were both amazing! We would definitely stop here again when we're cruising Nalo

Yelp
So happy to see that 'Ai Love Nalo, my favorite restaurant is open again! Freshly painted a soft green, and in back, a large grassy backyard, with a wonderful, large seating area under canopies next to a garden with fruit trees. One big change is you can now order either by App so it's ready when you arrive, or walk up to the front window and scan the QR code to order. Then walk around to the back for a short wait to getting your tasty meal and smoothie. The staff is very friendly and helpful if you have any questions. So many excellent food dishes to choose from, and a variety of smoothies, all nutrient packed and incredibly tasty - well you know, if you've eaten here before. (4 years ago) So enjoy the happiness and good feeling healthy vegan food brings!

Yelp
I visited this restaurant on a sunday afternoon and ordered the mint smoothie. I was excited to support a business that prioritizes Hawaiian agriculture (as stated on their website), however left feeling disappointed by the product! The smoothie was bland without much flavor and we waited 15 minutes (it wasn't particularly busy). I did enjoy the patio, but unfortunately will probably take my money elsewhere next time.
google avatar

Yelp
SO overjoyed that they're open again! The medi bowl has been missed for ages. The chowder was a big hit, the luau, the spicy poke- I could go on forever
google avatar

Hiilani T.

Yelp
Today I was a little disappointed.. I love lasagna and usual go to Down to Earth to buy me a plate which usually cost me around the same price (of course with my other sides). However I seen they had this special on the menu and by the photo and what I got you can see I feel like it was misleading with the amount I got. My carrots came on top my pasta so I pushed it on my salad and this was the amount of lasagna I had. So I'm just disappointed in the lack of actual lasagna and salad that was in this plate. Photos taken was before I ate it. However on a good note the taste is amazing just wish there was more.

Yelp
They recommended the laulau because they said they just made it fresh. It was delicious. Moist, flavorful, large serving. Next time I want to try the luau. The service is a tad slow, though. The seating area is welcoming, but sort of in a backyard, spacious but you can hear the loud neighbors' activity, which kills the vibe a bit. The bathroom situation was also a little odd. You have to ask to use the bathroom and then they grab a key and escort you to the door to unlock. Just has a bit of an odd vibe.

Yelp
I was so glad to find out Ai Love Nalo is back open! I ordered Oh Wow Lau Lau with poi for takeout today, and everything was just as delicious as I remembered it from years ago! My food was ready in less than 15minutes and was easy to pick up (make sure to follow the signs to the back for the pickup window!). I hope they open up for in-person dining soon!

Yelp
Always love good to this `Āina based " vegan" plant based food spot on Oahu . They just opened back up after the covid shut down, with same great service . The indoor area has changed since I went a long time ago with a really cool outdoor dining ambiance I always love stopping by to eat when I'm passing through Waimānalo town .

Yelp
Ai Love Nalo is such a gem in the neighborhood. It's more than just healthy food, it's true soul food. The Medi Bowl and LauLau are my personal favorites, always fresh, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. I'm currently a plus one in their Wellness Program and feel so blessed to have access to such nourishing meals. I only wish something like this had been around when I was postpartum. So grateful they're back, this place feeds the body, heart, and spirit.

Yelp
Like reuniting with an old friend, I was ecstatic to once more be able to eat here. Their reopening far exceeded previous expectations! In the past many years they've been closed, I've raved about the flavors with others and shared joy in being able to eat great tasting vegan food. Every bite of their Medi Bowl is packed full of flavor that tastes better than I could ever remember. Being able to order and enjoy the refreshing watermelon splash smoothie once more may be the highlight of the month. Best wishes to the kind staff and establishment

Yelp
Amazing food! Thank the Waimanlo Gods they have reopened! Good for you and delish. I place my order ahead online to save time. Parking is limited.

Tom B.

Yelp
I've come to Hawaii once a year for years, was a big fan of Ai Love NALO. This re-born version post the covid closure is an extreme disappointment. I forgot my cell phone and could not order via internet. And was given a hard time by the cashier but she eventually took my order. I only ordered a smoothie. It took and long time to actually get it. And it was a bland tasteless cold mush that I only drank 1/3 off. Even that small amount did not sit well with my stomach. Avoid this place.

Yelp
This wonderful place is finally reopened. Great healthy local food with amazing flavors. And if you're going around the island this is a great place to stop - they have a large sitting area in the back. Super friendly too! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Delicious healthy vegan food, employees are friendly and informative and accommodating

Yelp
love this place!! food is absolutely delicious! We go here often when we are in town! I do have to say, though that the QR code ordering system is pretty terrible. It's like the restaurant wants to communicate with their customers as little as possible. There is next to no aloha spirit. Takes a lot of fun out of the experience!!

Jim

Yelp
Delicious food and very sweet/helpful staff. Highly recommend! Even though they are dine out they are so kind to provide a garden space to sit down and eat. However no public restrooms! I ordered ahead of time online so my food was ready when I arrived. I will be returning many times. Thank you!

Ashley O.

Yelp
I'm so happy they're opened again!! Best plant based food on the island hands down. I love that they turned some class Hawaiian dishes vegan to cater towards the Hawaiian community and also to provide the Hawaiian community with healthy alternatives.

Yelp
Good Vegan food. I love eating their food. Get a chance drive to Waimanalo and enjoy Ai Love Nalo vegan food

Yelp
Couldn't wait to try this place ever since our CM Emi made it sound so mouth watering delicious. And then I saw the pictures that Sheryl M posted darn it! Now I am REALLY confused because SOOO MANY choices I want. Found myself with a pocket of time and distance between Kaneohe and Aina Haina. Decided to enjoy the scenic drive on the East side of the island. Kathy's pictures showed me the landmarks to look for. No worries beef curry, guarans balbarens, no need gps, got um! Look for the converted gas station right after McDonald's! Wow oh wow. Am on a food high right now (nope no pakalolo here). Everything soooo good. Got another plate to take home. And while I wait to digest this goodness exclaiming the wonderfulness of Ai Love Nalo! Like Emi, I am far from being vegan, vegetarian or anything resembling still, this good for you food that tastes ahmazingly great will cause me to take this detour again soon. Thank you Ai Love Nalo. I heart you!

Yelp
This is one of the best vegan place to eat when you are in Hawaii in the Waimanalo area! The place is small but the atmosphere is great! The staffs are super friendly. So many choices to choose from. I had the buddha bowl and man, one bite and I was simply in love with the food! You could tell that it was very freshly made. So many flavors were in the bowl and so many veggies. I love it and it was a hit. The mushroom burger is also simply delicious! My all time favorite place to go to when I'm visiting Hawaii! Definitely recommend this place! A must try!

Yelp
A little place located out in Waimanalo draws the local crowd. The area around looks a bit rural and out of the way. The restaurant looks like it comes out of the 1950's. With that said, this cafe serves gluten free and vegetarian plates. The menu offers a limited items. However, the food can taste delicious. Once, someone prepared my Buddha bowl with an old avocado. It looked gray on the sides. This time, fortunately, I ordered the tofu poke. It tasted heavenly. It comes with cut up tofu, carrots, a slice of avocado with black sesame seeds, cucumbers, grape tomatoes, alfalfa, and an iceberg salad on the side. All of the vegetables lie on top of a bed of brown rice. The sprinkles of sesame seeds and the sesame dressing gives this meal a zing. Upon coming into the restaurant, the owners set up a water fountain as refreshments. In the middle of the floor, we see a communal table for large parties. Tables set up on the sides make it more functional. A hidden perk: Dogs can come here too. Go to the order area and ask for a water bowl. A great place to go for brunch or just to gather together.

Yelp
Disclaimer: I am never vegan, vegetarian etc. and like to eat bacon, eggs etc. THIS PLACE IS THE BEST vegan place on the island. I've eaten at just about all the vegan places on the island at some point and because I'm gluten free, usually what happens is I'm hungry 2 or 3 hours later. Like HANGRY hungry. NOT THIS PLACE. I've had a bunch of different dishes and my favorite is the MEDI BOWL and the DAILY DOSE smoothie with cacao nibs. I don't even drink coffee (ever) but that drink is AWESOME! I like how they balance the beans in dishes like beet hummus and babaghanoush and falafels. Omg the coconut chia pudding too. Get that, just to Instagram it, it's so pretty! Good luck finding it. If you park at McDonalds and walk a few feet you'll find it the first time. But if you're driving by looking, I guarantee you'll miss it the first time so just park at McDonalds and walk over, it's hard to make Uturns once you miss it.

Yelp
My sister and I wanted a refreshing smoothie and didn't want to drive all the way to Kailua to get one. So we decided to try out ai love Nalo. This little cafe is next to McDonald's in Waimanalo. You could dine in or take out. If there's no room inside to sit and eat, they have tables and chairs out in the back for people to sit and enjoy their meal in the garden. It also looked like they had lomilomi massage tables back there too. I ordered the watermelon splash and my sister ordered the pina cool lada. Unfortunately we were let down by the taste of our smoothies. They tasted "dull" and were not sweet. Both smoothies cost $6.00 each. So we were very let down by the taste of our smoothies. It's safe to say ai love Nalo is not for us.

Yelp
Ordered the Kalossal burger, it had a large kala-falafel patty, sprout and avocado with beet hummus & baba garnish spread on a toasted, whole wheat bun. It came with a side salad and I got the balsamic vinegar dressing on the side. The burger was delicious, with all the adds flavors from the spread and sprouts. The bun was also very good and toasted just right. The salad was a basic side salad, however the homemade dressing added to its flavor. Also ordered a watermelon splash. It is a slushy made with coconut water, honey and coconut flakes. The drink tasted like a liquid watermelon. It was refreshing and delicious . It's not a cheap place to eat, but well worth it, because of it was healthy and delicious

Yelp
My boyfriend and I wanted to try this place because it is in his hometown of Nalo!! Honestly, we had no idea that it was a vegan or no cash restaurant ‍. Regardless, we didn't want to be rude and just leave. We bought two plates and that totaled $24.14. My boyfriend gave her $24 and he said he had 14 cent In The car. I ran to get the change, had no idea she was waiting for it. Side note: I've worked customer service my whole adult life. Everyone knows you can put the money in the register and close it, reopen once another customer comes up. So she had the customers waiting until we brought the change back. My boyfriend gave her the 14 pennies and she gave a nasty look and said "oh my!" Like the pennies were the worst thing ever. She opened the register and put the money in it and took care of the customers in line that were waiting. No hi, no thank you, nothing! Rude!!! Just no personality, no hospitality. It would have easily given this place a 4 star. We got our food and was very disappointed. Rice or whatever that was, was dry. The laulau that I ordered had one Tiny potato and two carrots in it! My boyfriend got the luau. His was very tasty and good. Both salads on our plate, and tofu was good as well. We left still hungry tho. I gave this place a 1 star because of the customer service. I would give it a 3 1/2 for the food. The presentation of the food was a 5 star.

Yelp
You got to try Ai Love Nalo. The variety of vegetarian dishes they offer is amazing and tasty. After going to the Waimanalo Pumpkin Patch, I figure I would grab food from here before heading back to Kaneohe. Once me and bf got to our destination, we noticed there were no parking spots available. So I parked off the road across from McDonald's and walked over. It was difficult to choose from their extensive menu, but the tofu poke salad strike me as something delicious to chow down alongside the mint to be smoothie. My partner wanted something with meat after scanning the menu carefully. The mint to be smoothie was topped with chocolate shavings. Once I took a sip, it was so minty and refreshing to drink. Totally recommend it. The tofu poke salad was so huge and the amount given was generous. Very delicious and love having a variety of veggies in the salad. Surprised to see a slice of avocado covered with sesame seeds. The prices were fairly priced. Getting good quality foods to create yummy vegan dishes is worth purchasing. Freshly made to order. If you are ever in Waimanalo, stop by and grab a plate lunch and smoothie.

Yelp
Last time we visted Ai Love Nalo, we ordered the buddha bowl and BBQ portobello sandwich and salad. The buddha bowl was loaded with kabocha, mushrooms, kim chee, kale, avocado, furikake, over rice with a tahini dressing. It was really fresh, light and flavorful. This is one of those dishes where you can tell it was good for you. The BBQ porto sandwich was the winner between the two. I know that healthy is and should be expected at a vegan restaurant, but I love when my eyes and tastebuds are deceived. The "meatiness" of the mushroom and the slaw made from coconut drenched in the BBQ sauce all on a vegan wheat bun was amazing. The food was delicious. I thought it was a little pricey, but know you are paying for quality.

Yelp
I'm torn. The place is extremely cute but terrible parking options. The menu looks awesome but entree prices are slightly expensive and so are some of the smoothies. I loved their banana coconut soft serve, but really did not enjoy the Roasted Vegetable plate lunch. I am not vegan but rarely eat meat and often enjoy vegetarian dishes on the regular. In all honesty, the lunch plate I had was very sad. They are generous with the portion size and the side salad was crisp and refreshing. However, the millet was bland and slightly soggy, the roasted veggies were more steamed veggies, precooked and not very fresh (some slices of zucchini, okinawan sweet potato, wrinkly carrots, and 1 slice of kabocha). I did not like the ginger tahini vinegraitte (sour and ginger accent did not come through). Maybe I have to try their most popular dish first before passing judgment, the Medi Bowl, but I'm not so certain I'll be back soon.

Yelp
A laulau plate on Aloha Friday... How appropriate, no? ...especially since Steph K. got Review of the Day (ROTD) today for this place that I had bookmarked! Ai Love Nalo is located in Waimanalo, a town on Oahu which locals have nicknamed "Nalo", for short. I think I first learned about this vegan restaurant because of Sharon H.'s ROTD last year. According to my GPS, it would take me 38 minutes to get to Waimanalo in traffic. There's only one lane in and one lane out, so just be patient...it's worth it! Location: coming from Pali Highway, turn right onto Kalanianaole Highway, pass Town and Country Stables, pass Olomana Golf Club, pass Honolulu Polo Club, pass Bellows Air Force Base, and it's on the left side of the road, right after McDonald's! This is quite the scenic route! Because it was close to closing time (5pm), I called ahead and ordered two smoothies (Daily Dose and It's Mint To Be) and a plate lunch (Oh Wow Lau Lau). Everything tasted great! The Daily Dose had a coffee flavor which I enjoyed on the ride home. Note: the straws are made out of paper - so environmentally friendly! When I got home, I cut the lau lau open and found the taro, carrot, and breadfruit...very clever! The taro leaves were moist and tender! The poi was fresh and sweet! The green salad was colorful and yummy with Ginger Tahini dressing! The tofu poke was savory tasty! The Mint To Be smoothie was a perfect dessert - fresh and satisfying! Next time, I'd like to dine outside in the Garden of Eatin' and have the Mediterranean plate (Medi Bowl). Also available is indoor seating which looks calm and quiet. Such a nice environment!

Yelp
I had this place bookmarked for a while and was excited to have some free time to check it out. My wife is a pescitarian so I'm always on the lookout for options. From downtown its a trip. It's a quaint lots, look like a retrofitted gas station. limited parking, I just parked near McDs. Dog friendly, I was looking for an outdoor table by my dog Lola was welcomed in and provided some water. They have a pretty nice menu. Vegan, vegetarian. Its nice and casual inside. High ceiling with exposed wood beams. Look like they have an event area in back with a wooden dance floor. forgot to inquire about that. I have the medi bowl. mediterranean flavors. falafel, hummus i think was mixed with beets, riced cauliflower. It was very tasty and a nice portion. I tried their in house made earl grey kombucha. My wife had the buddha bowl she enjoyed it for the most part but i knocked off a star because she complain the avocado was a bit brown and a possible hair or ginger mistaken for a hair? either way, it happens I guess, she didn't want to take it back because she mostly done anyway but she wasnt thrilled. My food was great and delicious though. Oh they sell metal straws too which I liked, I forgot which environmental group. But gotta think of the honu and Ive been passing on the plastics so thats great to have. Definitely would recommend checking this place out. The area is so pretty too with the turquoise waters and dramatic steep section of the Ko'olau

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! I ordered the Kaukau Luau plate and it was so yummy, comforting and healthy! I loved the coconut stew with the Okinawan sweet potato, taro, and luau leaves served with brown rice and millet (I got half and half). The side of tofu poke was flavorful with a bit of a kick. The spicy option was perfect for me. The side salad with ginger tahini dressing was great. Not only was the food wonderful but the smoothies and desserts were dreamy. We got the watermelon splash and pina cool-ada smoothies. To top it all off I ordered the out out of this swirled soft serve and it was one of the best soft serves I've ever had. The banana coconut base was perfect! Parking is a bit hard but we ended up parking on the next street over. I can't wait to come back again!
