Air Margaritaville

Lol — I find it funny that people will rate airport food within the same standard as a normal restaurant. I have a lot of family and friends who have worked in the airlines/at airports and the amount of security clearance and movement people and things (food, everything) is extensive. Please take the quality of ANYTHING you find at the airport with a gd grain of salt!!! All that said … I frequent DTW and have to go to the end of the terminal for United flights. This is the only spot and it’s very, very chill. Can always count on getting a quick drink here before the flight and not feeling like I won’t be waited on. The bar is always clean. They have outlets so you can plug in and charge up. They also have a steel pan player every so often and he sounds GREAT! Don’t know who this dude is but bravo to you, sir. Come here for a snack. I’ve only ever had the starters — guac, chips, etc. — and I haven’t been disappointed. But again, I’m keeping my standards realistic.

Pretty good burger for the airport. The service was a bit slow, but it was very busy. Excellent place to watch aircraft move about the ramp.

Mearra is one of the best waitress in the world. Great service, supper friendly, and polite! Made my stop at DTW airport very smooth. Great views too!!! Will be back.

Jason F is so nice! The cocktail I asked for was superb. honestly never thought of getting an airport drink so good. Plus the place is clean and chill. Would comeback again.

Fantastic service and high-quality meal with real silverware (no plastic cutlery) 🍴 which I appreciate. Chicken Tinga bowl with a side of coleslaw is an order I'll definitely do on repeat. Avocado 🥑 was ripe, and the addition of the coleslaw gave it that perfect crunch. I enjoy sitting in that open location, at the bar.

The staff seemed in a hurry—didn’t give us enough time to look at the menu properly, and placed the bill on the table even before we finished eating. It felt rushed and a bit unwelcoming. I hope they can work on providing a more relaxed and customer-friendly dining experience.

Service was excellent! Great bartenders. The food on the other hand was lame. I know it’s an airport but a quesadilla needs to have a decent amount of cheese and this one barely had any.

Pretzels were cold that someone else hadn't wanted instead of fresh. I sat down, ordered and the server said it's shift change, can you cash out. I cashed out, but server was there at least an additional 30 minutes after cashing out. If you want a casual place where you're not rushed choose elsewhere

Since Our Flight delayed. Eating and having a Margarita while waiting for departure. The service is very good . Bartender Awesome welcoming, to have a wait time lol. Shontell our server , very Polite and nice timely response and caring for Us. The best Burger ever. Guacamole bacon is the taste for one of a kind Burger. Shout out to " Gina "the Chef at Air margaritaville I give her 5 stars Because I never eat all my food. In a timely matter's and it was delicious . That I finished it all today. I'm glad we stopped here tonight. Merry Christmas . To all.

Oh my gosh! I didn't fully read the menu. These fish tacos were awesome. I didn't realize it was going to be this much food. I don't recall having orange curaçao before, didn't taste any different from the blue one I'm used to. Overall the drink was good. It did what it was supposed to do. Only things I would recommend is that they use a different rice. Some kind of longer grain. It was cooked just the short grain made me question if it was cooked. Don't ask, just my opinion. lol.

We left the nearby Lufthansa Senator Lounge to come over here - and we had a great time! Excellent service here and a decent drinks and wine list. The folks eating next to us had a plate of nachos that looked absolutely delicious. Based on other reviews I think your experience may be very server-dependent, but we had a great experience -- especially when compared to the mess of that lounge.

This restaurant has a nice, sunny dining area and live music while waiting for your flight. My server, Nyesha, was attentive and helpful. At my request, she asked the bartender to prepare me a mocktail based on one of the standard cocktail menu options. I also had the lava shrimp appetizer. It was a good-sized portion, but a bit salty. I've had other appetizers here in the past that were less heavy on the salt. Overall, this a pleasant place to get a bite to eat before your flight.

Tough go here. To think the place that made margaritas famous has disappointing margaritas is just sad as a margarita lover! I had the top shelf margarita. I think the issue is with the mix. I suggest trying the perfect margarita only lime. It has to be better.

Great service and amazing drinks! Jade and Erin are absolutely amazing and I will come back just for them! I am very afraid of flying but after being treated so kindly and having a few laughs I feel much better.

Amazing service and really good food. Thoroughly enjoyed the wings and experience. Bar tender Jade was incredible. Jade never stopped moving and never had the drinks get low! Thanks Jade!

Had the volcano nachos like we do at every margaritaville we visit. The chips were so old and stale. Ordered a mixed drink, watched waitress make it. Very light pour and added sprite to fill glass when drink didn't have sprite as an ingredient.

Excellent service. Our plane was delayed, and we had a 4 hour time delay. What a fabulous place to waste time. Our drinks never went empty(even if it was just, eventually, water). There were two servers who circled us at the bar. We never had to go looking for any server. A well run establishment!!! The only food we had were the pretzels and they were ok. We were there on a Monday and there was even live music. If I ever find myself in this wing of the airport again, I will absolutely park my delays here.

This place is garbage but people will continue to patronize because it's the last place for drinks and food at the end of D gates. Waited 15 minutes at the bar to be acknowledged then watched the bartender serve an obviously very young person with asking for ID.

Great breakfast. Isaiah was extremely friendly and a great host. Will definitely come back next time we are at the Detroit airport.

Dining at Air Margaritaville is the very definition of disappointment. The service staff is fine though way way way overwhelmed bc clearly management is cutting corners on staffing/scheduling. The food is "meh" at best. The eggs super greasy, to the point i wonder is maybe they were boiled in oil vs fried. Cant tell you how the toast is bc i didnt get any. I did get a colorful story about how management refuses to fix the toaster oven despite it catching fire twice. No milk/cream for coffee at 9:30am? No problem I can drink it black. But still? How does a restaurant (with a bar) that advertises their breakfast not have enough coffee? Its not like the place was packed. There are a lot of better choices in the terminal. Unless you are a masochist, i suggest giving this place a huge pass!

I was in need of drinks and food before heading back to Texas. I had come to MI for my aunt's funeral. I was sad and figured a drink or two would help kill my emotions. I ordered It's 5 o"clock somewhere. I love this drink and always get it when I come to a jimmy buffets. I also ordered the chips and trio plate. I subbed out the queso for a salsa as I can't eat dairy. Overall a nice place to grab and bite and a drink before a flight.

The food is very good here but the service is mediocre at best. I was rushed through my meal and they weren't even busy. Drinks are quite expensive too! $15 for a margarita. The ambiance wasn't bad.

It's hard to find good food in the airport and let's face it it's all pretty expensive. This location was very accommodating and our waitress was on top of everything. She even pointed out how large the fish and chips was before we made three orders. Although we had our dog in his traveling bag it started to bark and the waitress immediately offered us a bowl of water. The service was quick and precise and I would definitely recommend this place to other travelers. As a bonus there are lots of plugs if you're needing to charge up.

So glad this restaurant was here ... its only the first week. It's beautiful- a great view of palm trees and floor to ceiling windows, variety of cool/ happy music- makes me feel relaxed even though it's gonna be a long flight home. Food: salads, quesadillas, burgers. Able to sub salad for fries. Chicken/ cheese Quesadilla $12.49 was tasty and filling, enjoyed the salsa, sour cream and guacamole. Enough to share. Servers: upbeat, fast moving, and ready to answer questions Ambience: Key West vibe, what else? It's Margaritaville. A well stocked bar, I had a good beer. All tables were full, many with guys enjoying the Wifi and iced tea... causes a bit of a wait for seating & food. Maybe they can build them an "annex" to drink and surf the web. We were glad to find this "newbie" and wish them well! We love the Margaritaville in Key West FL!

This place may look beautiful. But that's it ....customer service and drinks and food are the worst. I am use to bad service and food and I never complain but this place is the worst I would not serve my worst enemy food or drinks that they gave me and the attitude for no reason is crazy please keep Goin an find another place to grab food an drinks.

The food tasty like freezer food warmed up, hardly no flavor. I ordered a strawberry mango margarita and the bartender literally just put the flavor in the bottom and didn't even mix it. The staff was cool but outside of the airport, I would never attend this place, inside of the airport you only have a few options but this will be on last choice list from now on.

Great experience with reasonably priced options. 5-10 dollars less for food than other eateries around. Andrea was our server and she was professional and kind. We ordered some of the signature margaritaville drinks: the 5 o' clock somewhere & the Havana banana. Both were delicious and the 5 o' clock somewhere was strong, as it should be given the name. We also ordered pretzel sticks with queso & a cheeseburger in paradise (just like the jimmy buffet song) really enjoyed the burger and thought the pretzel sticks were a good portion for the price. Topped off with a goose island ipa and a Sauvignon blanc (wine was priced under $10). Everything was enjoyable especially the attitude of the server. Thanks Andrea!!

Need a quick drink before my flight. Atwater Brewing was at the other end of the terminal (10-15 min walk). Closest to my gate was Air Margaritaville. Gave it a shot. I sat at the bar. Like: 1. The Bloody Mary. Good amount of vodka and was very spicy. Just the way I like it. 2. Service was great. I got my drink quickly and the way I like it. Dislikes: a lot of people left. The ones that sat at the tables. Sad to watch a lot of people leave because service was slow. One bartender and one server just not enough for this morning's early crowd. Just 3 stars for now. If I didn't sit at the bar it would be a lot less.

I mean why not! Its 5 o'clock somewhere!My first margarita from margaritaville! I felt like it was a must! Great service... no complaints super laid back restaurant with even better music to pass the time. We got breakfast quesadillas weren't amazing.. but who really comes for the food lol! It did definitely hit the spot! Glad i stopped.

I attempted to order a burger at 9 AM and was told I had to wait until 11 AM. I politely informed the bar tender that it was "11'o clock somewhere" but she would not budge. I was happy to wait, and while I had a good experience, I still think there is something that should be addressed on the corporate level. They say time stops for no one but who is they? Not Jimmy Buffet. Train travel necessitated clock synchronization (pure fiction) in the late 17th century. It's ironic that planes are tied to these tracks of oppression. Time is too precious. Minutes and hours should be savored; not used as nails to post a so-called "breakfast menu." What are we really breaking?

Good food and friendly service. The drinks are WAY overpriced. A screwdriver -- you know, vodka and orange juice -- was $12. There is no excuse for that. Regardless, this is a good addition to DTW. It's nice to have something near the lower-number gates to get a bite or a drink while you wait for your flight.

Very excited to see this at Detroit Airport, brings a unique dining experience to the usual airport places. Ordered a cheeseburger and it was thick and delicious as were the fries. Service was excellent and view of the runway was great!

Air Margaritaville actually has pretty decent food. Their buffalo wings are really good and off menu. The drinks (alcohol) are typical airport prices. You can enjoy your food and drinks with a view of the runway and airplanes.

The Last Mango Margarita will definitely make your day bright as the sun with it's sweet Mango punch to the lips. I recommend getting this drink no matter where your going to put a sunny side to your day! Also the staff are very welcoming with smiles and conversations!

After having many horrible experiences in airports. We were hungry and ready to sit and relax before our flight back home.. we came to margaritaville in the Detroit airport for a quick bite to eat. Lori welcomes us with a smile and genuinely happy to help us. We ordered mimosas and flatbread it was amazing. But what really made it perfect was the friendly people who made us feel at ease. There needs to be more people like this in the world.

Stopped here for usual gate wait. One of the best lounge music for a long time to keep my toes tapping. My chicken wings were great. Other customers were commenting on them. Service great and fast.

Avoid... I do understand it is an airport bar but .... $9 for a FOUR OZ tequila soda-emphasis on the soda-with a side of salty service? When specialty drinks- 16 Oz- are $8.49 & include 12 ingredients? Some insight from the bartender would have been nice when we were discussing ordering a simpler drink. Super disappointing. No thank you ever again.

$14 chicken Caesar salad. Where is the chicken!? Overall 1.5/5 stars. Take out on a slow day took 23 minutes, a salad took 23 minutes. Read that again.

We ordered ice tea and nacho sampler. The salsa was a thick pizza paste texture, the menu said queso and it's can nacho sauce, guacamole was ok. Chips were thick. 2 different people asked how it was and we gave the same answer. No discount, no manager showing, nothing. It was a waste of money. Never again. Was a lot of staff and 3 different people asked if I wanted a refill, its took 15 minutes with another waitress yet filling it. Oh well.

For an airport spot, this was great! I sat at the bar because the hostess suggested it for a single table and for fastest service. I ordered a Kona draft and a chikcen tika bowl. I was pleasantly surprised by the price and amount of food that came with the chicken tika bowl. It was also packed full of flavor with rice, beans, fresh vegetables, including avocado and very flavorful tender shredded chicken on top. The bartender was completely slammed as he was the only one making drinks for the bar and the entire restaurant but I never waited long for anything and he checked on me regularly. If I get stuck with a long layover in Detroit again, I will definitely walk straight to this spot and pull up a barstool becuase it helped the time go by and it was a good meal at an airport no less.

Horrible service. The waitress and hostess were completely incompetent. We waited 20 minutes to sit down and they seated a number of singles in front of our group of two. They were seating the singles at 2 person tables. The old blonde waitress took 20 minutes to check on us and our food was not ready for an hour and we had to cancel it because we were going to miss our flight. She gave us attitude when we told her that too.

I was completely ignored by wait staff. After waiting at least 10 minutes, I had to get up and find someone to take my order. It was not a particularly busy time of day. Wait staff were standing around. Two different people brought out food and drink. There was not a single utterance from either one. No one checked to see how I was doing. Once I finished, I asked a waitress who was passing by if I could please get my check. She asked me who my wait staff was. I had no idea. Soon after, one of the two men who'd brought out my lunch came over and dropped off the tab. Again said absolutely nothing to me. I was livid and left no tip. As far as food, I had the chicken Caesar salad, and it was fine. I won't be in any hurry to try anything else here anytime soon though, given the disinterest in my existence. Be forewarned.

Food is extremely overpriced for the quality. My chicken sandwich was tough and difficult to even eat. The drink I had was overpriced even for an airport. Server was polite and attentive - the sole redeeming quality of this place.

The rating speaks for itself, but to provide details it was not busy and it took 45 minutes to get a side caesar salad. The wasn't incredibly long considering it took as long to get a beer. If you're short on time don't bother.

Super fun place to come have a bite and a drink before your flight. It is 20 degrees outside right now, but this place makes it seem like you are in paradise! Great choice margaritas and a large selection of other cocktails as well. There was a lot of staff on and they all seemed to hustle. Amanda was the bartender and she was lovely!! Highly recommend if you have time to stop in before your flight!

You'll enjoy this restaurant if you enjoy your drink being 99% ice. Not hospitable at all. But look on the bright side-it has a good view of the planes. Overpriced!

Poor service, bad drinks. Why did every other $12 Bloody Mary served around me look good (at least had an olive), but mine was flavored with nothing but a half glass of pickle juice? Bartender ignored me then asked if I'd been served after I sat there in front of her for 25 minutes (not a busy time). Crap service = crap tip.

This is worst breakfast I ever had with no exceptions. I don't expect great food at the airport but they brought it down to a whole new level. Jimmie Buffet should be embarrassed that he associated with this place.

Worst food I have ever been served at a restaurant. I ordered the taco salad and it was a plate of nachos. When the waitress was notified her resolution was to offer me a plate of lettuce. When the manager came over to ask what I thought of the food her response was "I'll have them fix that next time". Would never go back.

Delicious drinks, but very light on the liquor... The lava shrimp wasn't bad. Overall, it's very much over priced but can be a fun place to sit for a while.

The worst staff service ive ever recieved. Very rude and not helpful male waiter. Food is eehh. Also very over priced for below average food. Do not go to this place. Just terrible.

It looks like a cool atmosphere. I'm not sure how the food was due to leaving. One staff member in particular made it uncomfortable. We found a different location to eat.
