Metro Detroit’s 10 Best Ramen Restaurants for Carryout and Delivery | Eater Detroit

"This Japanese restaurant in Canton serves an extensive sushi menu, but it’s the ramen that stands out. Ramen here is prepared with a variety of broths including shoyu, curry, and pork. Customers may choose to dine-in, but the Aji Ten also takes carryout orders." - Dorothy Hernandez

Pppssst.. Want a place to eat at where the business really carea about the food the make & and the prices are really decent? This is the place. Aji Ten Japanese Restaurant has a cozy vibe. Awesome food and awesome people that work here. The food is mega good. My fiancée favorite is the Katsu Curry... (ppsst I bet the secret ingredient is love ❤️) My favorite is all the eel dishes they have (THE EEL MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH ) If you are in the area... you need to check this out. 🦊🦊 Edit: Please note that the can seat less than 70 people at a given time. So please be mindful of that as well.

The food was AMAZING. I usually don’t like sushi, but their sushi is spectacular. The tonkostsu ramen was perfect in every way. The chicken katsu was also very good, the breading was perfectly crispy. It also came with what we assume was potato salad, which was good. I wouldn’t have changed anything

The chef/ owner actually lived and worked in Japan as a chef for years and was trained there ..the sushi is amazing and competitively priced. this is *THE** sushi place, IMO. The .atmosphere is totally laid back, fine, easy goin.g . They are mindful of allergies.... I have been coming here off and on since 2007... it is a Canton staple above and beyond, CONSISTENT, everytime !! *** THANKS EVERYONE AT AJiI TEN!!!!! ** ooooofff...I forgot they have ICE CREAM... just saw large table get it... waitress?!!?... Green Tea ice cream!!

Yo, shout out alert! They did their thing here! Clean, small space but decently priced food. From the sushi to the ramen, very good. The Spicy FrieD Chicken put Popeyes to rest. All in all, will be back! In such an over saturated market, you gotta really hit ‘em with the appropriate star rating. Everybody out here thinking they can do this! Get em Aji Ten

This is easily the worst Japanese restaurant I have been to. I have worked in 40 countries and have never encountered anything like this. The Takoyaki was like left over donut batter, the Katsu was wattery, the salmon was gummy and my favorite Japanese dish (Japanese Curry) tasted like American beef stew. I do not reccomend.

Google
The food was great, the service was good, the price is also decent, but the seating space is very small. I’m a very small person but the space is just so tiny, there’s not enough room to put my feet comfortably without people who’s sitting in front of me kicking my feet accidentally.

I walked into this restaurant excited for a Japanese feast, but I walked out questioning my life choices. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen, Takoyaki, and Katsu Curry, and let’s just say… I wouldn’t wish this meal on my worst enemy. The Tonkotsu Ramen tasted like someone whispered “pork” into a pot of hot water and called it a day. The broth was thin, the noodles were lifeless, and the whole thing had as much depth as a kiddie pool. The Takoyaki? More like Tako-YIKES. Instead of crispy, golden-brown perfection, I got sad, soggy dough balls with the texture of a regret-filled decision. The octopus inside must have been on a diet because I could barely find it. Then came the Katsu Curry, which I had high hopes for—only to be served a curry that tasted like it had trust issues. It was watery, bland, and somehow managed to be both too salty and not flavorful at the same time. The katsu? It had the crunch of a damp sponge. If authenticity was the goal, this place missed the mark by a whole continent. If you’re craving real Japanese food, do yourself a favor and keep walking.

So I've never had Valentine's dinner on Valentine's and didn't know it was a must to reserve ahead... Lol. Anywho, after a bunch of phone calls for steak houses, the wait was 1-3 hours, obviously. So my boyfriend and I settled on Japanese cuisine, since I was craving sushi and takoyaki. Called Aji Ten and said it was only a twenty minute wait. When we arrived we only had to wait like maybe five minutes even though it was packed. My boyfriend and I ordered croquettes(which came with 2 large servings for like 6 bucks) 10/10 delicious must try! Takoyaki (fried octopus balls, 8 for six bucks, what a steal!) 8.5/10. We also got the yomyom roll (something like that lol. Had white fish and eel and other stuff, tempera battered and fried) 9/10. My boyfriend got the tonkotsu ramen, cream based ramen with pork and poached egg, huge portion, 8.5/10. I got the Katsu, thin fried chicken, huge portion like four pieces, served with soup, white rice, Japanese cold potato salad, some side salad have no idea what it was, 8/10, well executed, but I wish there had been like a sweet/sour dipping sauce. Green tea ice cream, 10/10, likely store bought but it had a perfectly light macha taste, and as always with green tea, low on the sweetness scale but so refreshing and delicious. Was surprised it was 2 scoops, usually when I've had it's been one small scoop for 5 bucks. I will post the receipt to show the prices. I was honestly shocked how quickly the food came out, albeit one dish at a time but i preferred it so me and my boyfriend could experience it hot and fresh each time. Considering all the food we got the price was very reasonable, since there was enough for two to go boxes and a Togo soup container. Please know that the server might not be fluent in English, and please be polite and point at what your ordering while you say it to help the process smoother. Great service, great food, nice atmosphere. I hope you go and enjoy too! I will try to post the images in order of what I listed here. Looks like the sushi and takoyaki might be mixed up, so the round balls are takoyaki, fyi

Yelp
Very yummy sushi when you're looking for a quick bite to eat! When you walk in there's lots of seating and you'll be greeted by a kind and helpful host. It's very clean and well kept. The menu is large and has many options to choose from but not too big. The sushi was pretty good! The fish was fresh and tasted great. The sauces they made were tasty and not too salty. There wasn't too much sauce on any roll which was nice. The presentation was okay but that's not very important. I only gave it a 4 because the sushi rolls could be a little better and presented a little better. Overall it was a great place to eat and takes no time to sit!

Yelp
The tonkotsu ramen was okay, but there was a lot of meat inside the ramen. The spicy chicken was super delicious and it is basically a spicy karaage! Would recommend the spicy chicken if anyone goes. It was a smaller restaurant and service was good.

Yelp
i have been going to this restaurant for YEARS. The prices remain unbeatable & the service is great. I ordered a dynamite roll for takeout & for $15, the amount you get is very worth it. The dynamite shrimp itself is so delicious and packed with sauce and flavor. They make a pretty good California roll too. The restaurant ambiance is nice & clean. Perfect for a casual lunch or dinner

Yelp
This is my go-to Japanese restaurant in Canton! The food never disappoints! The entreés come with soup and salad. I tried a lot of new dishes like the squid and the battered mackerel last night and I am so glad I tried them! The chicken teriyaki is always a staple and their fried chicken was crispy and tender which paired well with the salad and rice. Not pictured but their sushi is so delicious- I always get the dynamite roll. Their ramen is also amazing- I really like the Tonkotsu ramen. Their serving sizes are perfect and this place has always had the best prices for their food. Their service is always excellent and this place has a cute Japanese restaurant ambiance. This place is a must-go for sure!

Yelp
Super good price for great quality. We got spicy tuna roll, chasumen, and katsudon. The tuna roll tasted fresh, ramen had a spectacular broth, and the Katsu is cooked to the perfect crispiness. Everything is authentic and fresh. The service was good and extremely quick. If I lived closer I would be here so often.

Yelp
This place used to be great in terms of price and taste but it's definitely gone down now... I can understand if a restaurant raises prices OR gives smaller portions but this place does both, at least when it comes of sashimi. They charged more but gave me like super thin slices. Basically got robbed

Yelp
Delicious, authentic Japanese cuisine -- just like mom used to make (my host mom, anyways...) Portions are really big, so much so that we all took a round half of our meals home and enjoyed it for dinner the next night. Highly recommended!

Yelp
My family tried Aji Ten for carry out a bit ago and I'm happy to report it was pretty good! Based on the reviews I went with the chicken katsudon and it was quite the generous portion. It's not the most pretty looking dish but it's so good! Because it was carryout and the sauces and such the chicken wasn't as crispy as my husband's order, the chicken katsu itself, but it was still delicious and it'll be my go to next time as well. I have a hard time not ordering sushi when it's on the menu so I also got the shrimp and salmon roll and it was also a generous roll. The fish was very fresh and overall very tasty. My mom got the tempura udon and the beef teriyaki and both were also good. She only ate half of both and they both made great leftovers the next day. Overall we were really impressed. Carryout was a quick in and out and we each got a few meals from our orders so it's worth it pricewise as well.

Yelp
I think the sushi in here is definitely just okayish but I really like the non sushi selections in here a lot It was my husband's first time in here. Not the best first impression. The doors were held open with chairs and on a warm day it was not very cool in the restaurant. The diet coke and lemonade option on the soda fountain were unavailable. This did not bother me as I prefer hot tea at a Japanese restaurant but annoyed the snot out of James. He ended up with a beer and a water with barely any ice. I asked for extra in my water and got eight cubes. We started with a Mexican roll. It was under a tempura heading on the menu so we falsely assumed it would be fried. It was not. Just the shrimp was. We assumed it would be spicy as it contained jalapeno. It was not. Bland but huge. Fine but definitely misleading. Service was not terribly friendly or attentive. No one came back after entrees were served and I was nearly out of tea at that point but my mouth was full because we were only halfway through our sushi roll went they plopped down all the food. I did not get more tea until they figured we were needing the bill. Not ok. That food saved them. So tasty. Super tender teriyaki chicken, perfectly cooked salmon. Non greasy, super crisp tempura shrimp and veggies. The portions ginormous, I mean wow a lot of delicious food. The two meals could have satisfied three people completely. We rolled out of there fat and happy. I have had several good takeout lunches there of katsudon and chicken katsu don, ramen and such over the last few years. Overall my assessment is stick with the non sushi selections and it's stellar, it's better carryout than dine in. Lunch is a much better deal than dinner. It's a four if you follow those rules but overall it's no better than three stars for our dine in experience today

Yelp
I've been going to Aji Ten for years now (since middle school), and it's my go-to Japanese restaurant whenever I come home to Michigan. It's a no frills type of establishment, and service can be hit or miss, but the food is consistent. My favorites include: Dynamite roll - California roll with a mixture of tempura shrimp, onions, and masago cooked in spicy mayo served on the side. It may sound like a strange combination, but I promise it all comes together to make a tasty dish! Oyakodon - Rice bowl topped with poached chicken, onion, and eggs. I prefer this to the katsudon, which is basically the same thing except with fried chicken. Kamo nabe - Shabu shabu (Japanese hot pot) with sliced duck, tofu, vegetables, and udon noodles. I especially love how fragrant the broth is!

Yelp
Tendon is great! Fried tempura, vegetables tasted good. And also the rice. The service is normal like other simple restaurants.

Yelp
Great casual Japanese restaurant. It was pretty easy to get to and in a convenient location next to a lot of other stores. I enjoyed their shrimp tempura entree and the sushi as well. I don't remember the name of the sushi I got but I thought it was interesting how the cooked part didn't come right on top of the sushi but it was kind of like a build your own. People in my group also enjoyed the udon. The servers were really nice and made sure everything was great.

Yelp
I love this place! I appreciate the straightforward, no fuss style of the ambiance and service. Forever my ramen standard.

Yelp
This is where I go on my birthday. If you like donburi I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

Yelp
Had dinner with friends for the first time and was overwhelmed! The service was top notch and the food was amazing. Everything came to the table at the perfect temperature and just as we finished the previous course. This was a lively and super friendly place I highly recommended it!

Yelp
Maybe I just don't know enough or maybe I'm not a sushi snob but this is my favorite Japanese restaurant. They have great authentic dinner dishes too. I've only eaten inside the restaurant a couple times and usually get carry out, it's always phenomenal.

Yelp
This place is a gem! Food is absolutely delicious and the prices are good. I eat there like twice a week. It sure what I would do without :-)

Yelp
This is a very good restaurant! The food is prepared with care and has a decent level of authenticity, besides being very tasty. The prices are competitive! I enjoy the food each and every time I visit. The chicken Katsu is a favorite, light, crispy and so tender! I like that they include spicy, yellow mustard and a home-style potato salad. The meal comes with miso soup and a salad with ginger dressing, and of course, rice. It doesn't miss a beat. The shoyu ramen broth is one of the best, so deep, so flavorful. The chicken katsudon is also wonderful. I wouldn't recommend shrimp shumai or other items that aren't house-made. The reason for three stars? The inconsistent service. Some of the waitstaff are friendly and efficient, but so many, are super unfriendly and waiting tables is not their thing. The turnover of the waitstaff also is a sign that there are issues. At times, the service is not what it should be. If the management/owner can rectify this situation, the place would be a definite winner in every aspect. The wait staff situation is much-improved. I have enjoyed many visits with efficient and friendly service. I hope this pattern continues, because the food here is very good to excellent! Again, the chicken katsu is one of the very best I have ever had. So light, crispy, juicy and a generous portion. I love that they include the homemade potato salad, rice, miso and it all makes quite a satisfying meal. I, often, order the chicken katsudon. It reminds me of old-school katsu don that I had as a child. The ramen broth is as good as some of the best. I try ramen at many local spots and their's is great! Highly recommend Ajiten! A little place in a strip mall on Ford rd. Worth the trip!

Yelp
We picked up our take out call in order in 20mins. Service was great. The food was always delicious and fresh in this restaurant. We ordered katsu don & katsu curry with salad & miso soup. We will definitely come back again.

Yelp
Prices are low but you get what you pay for in quality. The variety of sushi on the menu left much to be desired. There were very few tempura rolls, not many salmon rolls, not many tuna rolls. It was very limited with a focus on krab meat. We ordered several rolls and a few nigiri. The sushi didn't take long to arrive around 8:30 on a Saturday night. My rolls weren't rolled very tightly. The chicken tempura was not fully fried, only the chicken inside was. It was still good. A nice, unique roll. My basic white girl Philly roll wasn't very good. There was not a lot of salmon, and the cream cheese they used was very dense. Additionally, the seaweed wrap was very hard to chew. So basically, I felt like a dog eating peanut butter while trying to eat this roll. My dining mate said his nigiri was very good, but that his eel roll didn't have much eel inside. The spicy tuna roll he ordered was served with ground tuna, not the full stuff, so he was disappointed in that. He also mentioned how chewy the seaweed was. The server never came back to our table once our food arrived. We witnessed the servers and cook fawn over a table behind us. Maybe they were regulars. They got complimentary ice cream at the end of their meal. We, on the other hand, had to beg for our bill because the waitress forgot about us. Nothing about this visit makes me want to eat here again.

Yelp
When most Americans think of Japanese food, and where to obtain it, the first thing that comes to mind are the plethora of Sushi (すし) restaurants across the nation. The Detroit Metropolitan area has seen a boom in these establishments over the past 10-15 years, and the quality of these places can vary just like the weather outside. You never know if it's going to be hit or miss at some of these restaurants. While sushi has become a standard in the locally based Asian restaurant scene; hence, family style Japanese Restaurants have been slow to catch on, and are fewer and far in-between. One of the best in the area was Musashi, based in the southern Oakland County city of Southfield, which actually offered zaisu style seating on the floor. This place was a favorite of locally based Japanese businessmen. However, they closed a few years ago, as the owner decided to retire. Finally, with the Detroit Metro area coming out of the terrible economic recession we were in, now comes Aji-Ten based in the western Wayne County community of Canton. To say this place serves not only great Japanese family style food is an understatement, but they are have a fantastic sushi (すし) bar that is truly top-notch to go with it. Likewise, their menu selection is truly fantastic, and the chef will prepare the food any way you like it. I really go for the teriyaki dishes, as the chef serves them up with delicious Japanese style potato salad that is very delicious. Moreover, the prices for these, and other entrees are priced very reasonably, and won't bankrupt you, unlike some other Japanese restaurants in the Metro Detroit area that serve lesser quality fare. Aji-Ten is also very popular with the local Japanese community. You know, if they rave about how good the food is, then you know it's well worth the drive to Canton to enjoy lunch or dinner at this establishment. that being said, seating is limited in this restaurant so be prepared to have a long wait in line on some occasions. However, your taste buds will be well rewarded.

Yelp
As far as food goes it's a 10/10. Food is really good bang for your buck. The sausage is AMAZING! Gyoza is home made but would have preferred it fried haha. I appreciate the thinly sliced jalapeños on the Las Vegas rolls since it feels over powering at times when they are large slices. Service is fine as well at this place, the only knock I have is the ambiance. It's VERY hot, I mean pleaseeee turn on the air conditioning. The plates were a little bit dirty and overall the presentation of the restaurant does match the taste of the food but I'll be back to smash again that's no doubt!

Yelp
Such a wonderful Japanese restaurant! Yummy food and great value! Me and my kids love anime so we love to come and eat yummy food we see in the shows we watch!

Yelp
I miss Canton area, I have lot of favorite joints that I used to go to when I worked in the area. Looks like it's been almost seven years since my last visit, so it was nice to stop by after running some errands. I got there around 2:30pm and when I walked in, there was only one table that was wrapping up. I sat near the sushi bar, asked for water and reviewed the menu. I went with: - Tonkotsu Ramen - Spicy Tuna* (Tuna roll with spicy sauce) - Triple Spicy Tuna* (Spicy tuna toll topped with wasabi smelt roe and jalapeno) - Shrimp, Eel and Egg. The ramen came out first. The broth had very deep bone flavor, which was really nice and the broth flavor gave the ramen more in-depth taste. The pork meat wasn't thin as I expected, but more of thicker cut and it was still good. This was my favorite dish. Sushi - of all the sushi's were decent, my favorite was the Triple Spicy Tuna, the jalapeno pepper gave it a nice kick, and sriracha topping added a nice touch to the dish. If you like spicy dish, then this is a roll for you to try. Overall, it was nice to come back and visit, the ramen was great and sushi was decent. As for service, it was okay. When I got my food, there was no other customers there, but it was difficult to get my water filled in a timely manner... in due time, they came by and refilled the water after I was done with my meal. I hope to revisit, but it might be some time.

Yelp
Great place - owned by real Japanese people which is always a good sign. We had the tako yaki, a few rolls, and a tonkotsu ramen. All were really good, but more than anything the bang for buck at this place is great. Would definitely come back, and would also recommend it to anyone who's looking for some solid Japanese food in the area!
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
One of the only authentic places in all of Michigan. The portions are perfect; even the soy sauce (we got take out) which wasn't too much like non-Japanese owned places are. I love that you can order online. The prices are so reasonable. It's almost too good to be true. Definitely worth the drive.
google avatar

Amin H.

Yelp
This place is appropriately named since I would give it a 10/10. Excellent food and even better service. I wish I lived closer to this restaurant, I would visit often.
google avatar

Sifah M.

Yelp
Shout out to this place for relieving me of the responsibility of driving all the way to one world to get cheap, fresh, well made sushi. Rice was seasoned well, everything was made properly, fish was fresh. Order was correct. They got the basics covered, not really gonna go too in depth about the sushi, all i got were a bunch of maki. But everything was really good. I was pretty astounded at the prices, everything was super cheap. Another big plus. My favorite was the dynamite roll, absolutely phenomenal, definitely getting this again next time i go. Recommended.
google avatar

Dru M.

Yelp
I've ordered from this place now on grub hub and was very pleased with both orders. The prices are very reasonable for the portions. The sushi is fresh. My favorite is the Triple Spicy Tuna. The spicy chicken entree is delish! Tender chunks of chicken with a mild spice. Try the Japanese potato salad. Very tasty. I'm a fan of this place. Will definitely order from them again.
google avatar

Karim J.

Yelp
I seldom crave Japanese. Nothing against the cuisine, but it's difficult to find good authentic sushi or sashimi here in the states. Aji Ten is no exception to the rule, but that doesn't mean it's bad. On the contrary they have a decent menu with a variety of items one would typically find in an American Japanese restaurant or hibachi place. If you aren't a sushi snob and are easily satisfied with shrimp tempura, duck udon or chicken katsu then this place will do just fine. Also I was surprised by the quality of the octopus (it was tender as opposed to rubbery). Overall not bad and the service is good too
google avatar

Heather R.

Yelp
The fried shrimp was good, the low mein had plastic in it and the lady didnt take the item off the bill. The sushi was good, the hot tea was good. Looked for a healthy place to eat and found this spot. Mixed results.
google avatar

Brooke B.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! The staff are so friendly and nice. The ya Lao have good prices and great food! Definitely my favorite Japanese restaurant in Canton! I always get the teriyaki salmon and a roll!
google avatar

Steven S.

Yelp
Use to be really good but now the service is very poor. It's not going to last long if it doesn't make some dramatic changes! UPDATE- gave it another shot and they got the message. Service is vastly improved and sushi now comes out ahead of meals. Looking forward to coming back- Nice Come Back!
google avatar

Michael E.

Yelp
Very friendly staff and my sister used to work here. She said the head chef is one of the best she has ever worked with and their food is the real deal. The menu includes a wide range of Japanese comfort food and their sushi is traditional. Had their chicken katsu curry and it was excellent. Next time I'm in town, I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
Below average food, Horrible service. We went there for dinner, we where the second group to go inside the restaurant (funny: when we entered, the waitress asked "what do u want"..... Well?,,, let's see what do I possibly want to do in a restaurant). The place was generally clean. Most of the dishes we had was not fresh. The sushi was very average taste, huge pieces. Udan, literally tasted and looked like noodles in water(no taste what so ever). Service,,,,, where do I start, the guy was rude. He almost pushed one of my friend down and stared him away to serve me. And yea, make sure u decide if u want use fork or chop sticks. If u change it mind in-between... U might have to face the angry ninja. I might not go there again!

Reese B.

Yelp
This small restaurant serves food better than most in the area. Recommend making a reservation, extremely limited seating.
google avatar

Ikhwan K.

Yelp
Avoid, avoid, avoid. If you want to have high BP from the poor service then go.. The term service means nothing to them. Understaffed all the times, food takes 45 min to be on the table with poor attitude.

Yelp
Had a craving for ramen on a cold December day in Michigan, so headed out to Canton. My original destination was unexpectedly closed this weekend, so I checked Yelp for someplace open nearby. Aji Ten was less than a mile away, so off I went. Located in a mall, it is open for lunch and dinner. Spacious interior, there are booths and tables for dining as well as a sushi bar. Ordered curry ramen and a side of gyoza. Just what I expected- generous amount of broth, noodles, and dressing (meat, green onions). Tasty and hot, perfect for a cold day! Had a little bit that I took home for leftovers. Total for both with tip & tax was about $15, reasonable. Also saw on the menu that they have a katsu curry rice dish, can't wait to check it out the next time I have a yen for it! Will repeat and recommend!

Taylor L.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went here yesterday since they were the only sushi place around Canton that actually is letting you dine-in. We are glad everyone else was closed for dine in because we wouldn't have found this place. The sushi was fantastic and tasted incredibly yummy. Pricing wasn't bad either, pretty normal price for sushi. The tempura lobster roll was super good, and this is now our second favorite sushi spot. Our server was very friendly and attentive with all of our questions, and was nice the whole time. I definitely recommend this place over any other in the Canton area!! Small and a little dated but doesn't matter because it's the food that does so who cares. Try this place!

Yelp
A Tale of Two Chirashi. Chirashi is by nature a hit or miss thing. It's a bowl of sushi rice with the left over cuts of fish served over it. It's the trend now that restaurants charge near the same price as actually ordering a sushi dish so I expect something of similar quality but nothing earth shattering. That all changed a couple weeks ago when I was brought a bowl of what was supposed to be Chirashi. It was one of the most beautifully arranged Chirashi I'd ever seen. I was like Jack Skellington when he first discovered Christmas Town.... "What's this?!?" Two type of fish roe, slices of fish separated by lemon slices. Maybe it was my imagination but I kid you not everything worked together to make each bite fresh and original. Green onion with one type of fish. The green fish roe with another. This was one of the best meals I've ever had and by far the best Chirashi I'd ever tasted. I wanted to get up and applaud the sushi chef by the end of it. Compare that with the Chirashi I had at Aji Ten tonight. If I had an apathetic teenager who was taking a class in Chirashi the bowl I had was what he'd turn in. Just enough to get a C and pass the class. Perhaps a C- because there was no wasabe. I had to ask a server to bring me some. I can't believe it was the same chef. I hope it wasn't. The bowl was uninspiring and chewing through it was a chore. No creativity, no anything. I've had better chirashi for fifteen dollars back in California. At twenty-one dollars it wasn't worth the cost. The worst part was there was a small pin bone in one of the pieces of salmon. I don't think I've ever had that at a sushi place before. That to me is Aji Ten in a nut shell. When it's good it's great. When it's bad it's horrible. And there's not enough consistency to know what you're going to get. I've found that you get the best quality on Fridays and that Sundays are way too busy in the evenings. And I'm the type of person that is once bitten twice shy so I'll stay away for now. I like the experience of eating too much to have to sit through that again.

Yelp
This is a restaurant I frequent, but this is my first review. I had my first ramen here. Being down the street from where I live and with a prominent sign, it wasn't too hard to spot. One thing I've noticed is that this restaurant is frequented by many Japanese expats. I feel that speaks for the authenticity of the food. The menu is pretty expensive, with appetizers, ramen, donburi and many entrees featuring prominently. There is also a sushi menu. This restaurant serves both local and Japanese beers and sake. Today I ordered the sushi special and the mackerel sushi roll (I forgot what it's called). The sushi special came with 2 pieces of a sushi roll with avocadoes and tuna. There was also 2 pieces of Nigiri - one salmon and one tuna. On top of that was a bowl of soba noodles. The mackerel roll was a first for me. More than a roll it was a rectangle. On top was a thin sliver of mackerel with a clear layer on top. Was too lazy to ask about it. It was very good and and I enjoyed it. The 2 pieces of roll were run if the mill but didn't disappoint. Thr Nigiri were flavorful. This was my first time eating soba - the buckwheat noodles have a unique texture. Overall it was a satisfying experience.

Yelp
This is one of the better Japanese restaurants in the area. I had take-out yesterday from here and the quality and taste delivered as expected. The chef and staff have always welcomed me and have treated me with the utmost respect. It was a very unfortunate situation between chef and the customers that occurred. The charge for the squid should have been removed from the bill and there would never have been an issue. The customers have every right to feel anger over the experience. The chef is from Asia. He knows very little about the American culture. The chef felt insulted because his culinary ability had been questioned. The manner in which he dealt with the insult was very inappropriate and brought dishonor to himself. When he stated - "Go to KFC", it was the first fast food restaurant that he thought of. Nothing racial was intended. He had no idea that there was any racial connotation to what he said at that time.

Yelp
The food taste almost the same as what we had in Japan :) except that the cabbages were not as sweet and juicy, probably due to different cabbage types. Udon was very tasty, I finished the whole bowl including the soup.

Yelp
Delicious food, the service was slow and the place is small but the food was outstanding!

Yelp
I've had 3~4 solid meals here and 1 really bad meal here. The good meals were all for lunch, and the bad meal was a Sunday dinner. There may or may not be a correlation there. On my good visits, I've ordered their donburi (rice bowl) dishes and katsu curry. All delicious, generously portioned, and relatively inexpensive. If you're looking to get a katsu-don or ten-don, Aji Ten might be your best bet in the area. Their appetizer dishes like gyoza, edamame, and dynamite are all pretty tasty as well. On the other hand, my bad experience was the one time I ordered their ramen & sushi combo. The shoyu ramen was perfectly fine. The nigiri sushi though, was awful. The fish was not fresh at all, and the tuna especially tasted off-- I would've left it on the plate except I'm trying to teach my kids to not waste food so I washed it all down with beer. Fortunately I did not get sick, but I seriously would rank that sushi as the worst sushi I've ever had in the state of Michigan. Maybe they just had an off day, but it was disappointing to say the least. I'm sure I'll be back, but I'll focus on the donburi and steer clear of the sushi.

Yelp
If it wasn't for the awesome food, I would never come back to this place. The service is awful. Servers needs some training on how to serve. They never pay attention to you and they take forever before they acknowledge you. But the food is really good and the chefs are really nice!!

Yelp
Food was subpar! Ordered a specific order from takeout and was very disappointed. I could've/ would've done a better job cooking at home. This place was recommended, but 1 star is more than generous. I won't be back.
