New Ramen House to Surface on Colorado Boulevard - Eater Denver

"Red, white, and black signage has emerged on the storefront at 1390 South Colorado Boulevard, as Ajinoya Ramen, a new noodle house, prepares to open as early as next week. This location is the previous home of fast-casual Broken Rice, which closed in October. The popular cuisine will come from the culinary minds behind Okinawa, a Japanese eatery on Colfax. This is the team’s first foray into ramen, and though the menu has yet to be solidified, the intent is to serve simple, authentic bowls of soup, poke, appetizers, and an array of beer, wine, and spirits, according to team member Scott Xie. Ajinoya, a Japanese term, most nearly means “house of taste.”" - Gigi Sukin

Google
An absolutely fantastic place to get authentic Japanese cuisine! We both had varieties of Ramen with Takoyaki balls. The place is also very clean with a chill atmosphere. The staff were wonderful as well. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for authentic Japanese food!

Google
It has a free parking lot and is fairly accessible and is family-friendly. Amazing Rich flavors for the foods and solid menu. Fantastic options for vegetarians and vegans. We really enjoyed the vegetarian ramen. Super delicious large portions and really friendly staff. We will absolutely 100% be back again in the future. Thanks so much for the fabulous food!

Google
This is definitely going to be our date night spot for Ramen and Sushi!! The Ramen is great, the sushi is great!! And the customer service is excellent!! I highly recommend You won’t be disappointed… I know I wasn’t!

Sarah T.

Google
Place was cute and staff was nice. Sushi wasn’t tightly wrapped so it fell apart easier, gave a lot of the fish tho which was good. Ramen broth was okay… could be better and the pork was more grilled so it made the broth taste like it

Google
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! The service was excellent from the moment I arrived – our server, Dayse, was incredibly kind and attentive, which made all the difference, especially because it was my birthday. She made the day even more special with her thoughtful care. The service was super fast, everything came out perfectly and well-prepared. The place is clean, pleasant, and welcoming. I felt truly appreciated and left with a grateful heart. I’ll definitely be coming back and highly recommend it to everyone!

Google
I was stationed in Tokyo for 3 years, so it's always been my goal to find good, authentic, and relatively inexpensive (here's looking at you, Sushi Den!) Japanese food in Denver. First, driving on Colorado is a mess, and blink, and you'll miss the entrance. Parking is kinda small but not bad during lunch. Service here was fantastic and fast. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. I started off with the Karaage (Japanese fried chicken), and it was incredible! First off, the portion was much larger than I expected. The chicken was crisp and juicy and the dipping sauce was incredible. Seriously, this is probably the closest thing to authentic Karaage that I've had in the states! I got the Tan Tan Ramen, and it was good, but not slapp-ya-momma good like the Karaage. At the risk of sounding pretentious, it's just hard to find the same quality of ramen outside of Japan. If I had to rank it, I would say it's not as good as Uncle Ramen, but it's still darn good. I also got an Asahi beer, and when all is said and done, I definitely recommend this place. They also have Donburi, Japanese rice bowls, that look delicious, including an Unagi (eel) bowl, which I really want to try. Overall, good experience and I'll be back.

Google
Food was pretty good. The service was really really really good. We were attended to right when we entered to when we left. The prices were decent for what we got. I really liked the calamari appetizer as it was baby squid instead of just regular rings. There were a lot of restaurants in the strip so parking was very full. We were able to get a spot quickly though.

Google
I am obsessed. Ample parking, though we walked. Patio seating and incredible interior with comfortable, beautiful well spaced tables. The service was fast, and they were *incredibly* nice. Then the food and drinks were literally an entire experience. Go here with friends, go here for a date, go here with family, go here to take yourself on a date. The flavor of the broth was perfect and different between each dish and the noodles were perfectly cooked.

Yelp
Long time listener, first time caller! On an unusually cold and rainy day in June, the ramen cravings were more prevalent than ever. Ultimately, this local spot did the trick on a dreary day. It was quiet in here for lunch, understandable on a bleak day. The dining room has plenty of seating. The menu has a robust variety of ramen, poke, appetizers, donburi, and a full bar. Spicy Miso Ramen ($16.95) // Ramen noodles, chashu, corn, bok choy, bean sprouts, black fungus, Naruto, seasoned egg, green onion. Noodles had good texture. Broth was silky with solid depth of flavor, though I would've loved more spice. And I enjoyed the chashu. A large portion for the price, good luck finishing the whole bowl! Service was good too. You can tell they were a little bored considering the restaurant wasn't busy, so they checked in on us more than usual. Better that then the opposite right?! A local restaurant worth venturing to on Colorado Blvd. With lots of options in a close proximity, Ajinoya is worth a visit. I can't wait to try more of the menu items!

Yelp
Solid ramen place. Broth is flavorful and not too heavy. The roasted, charred chasu flavor was a little different for me but it was nice touch. I got the tonkatsu shoyu ramen, which had a sprinkle of pepper powder. Only thing I wished was that the broth was hotter. Went on a weeknight and there was plenty of tables around. Service was nice and attentive.
google avatar

Erin B.

Yelp
Delicious Tonkatsu Ramen. The broth was spot on, the shoyu soft boiled egg was delicious, the chargrilled cha sui was perfectly marinated and tasty, and the noodles were chewy. I also really excited their Mazemen (dry noodles). I ordered their ramen by delivery so I'm sure it's even better eaten at the restaurant.
google avatar

Thien L.

Yelp
Stopped in here for lunch last week for a hot bowl of ramen on a rainy day. I ordered the shoyu ramen and it was super rich and flavorful, and came with a good amount of chashu which had a really good smoky flavor. The interior is very modern and clean and there was a lot of space. The servers were very kind and checked in on us often. Great spot for a quick bite and I would definitely come back to try the other items on their menu.

Yelp
This is probably the best ramen place I've ever visited. The ramen tasted hearty and delicious. The portion size we very generous. I ate until I was full and then had enough to eat for lunch the next day. The chicken karage was saucy and crispy. Service was kind and quick. The inside is fairly big with plenty of seating. I can't wait to go back and get the tonkatau shoyu ramen again!!

Yelp
I wanted to like the food SO badly, but couldn't bring myself to finish it which is a shame considering the high ratings. I read through some reviews that claimed they know good ramen because they're from California. For reference, I'm from Southern Cali and my bf is from NY. We eat ramen all the time and this was not "it" for us. Sadly. We started with the gyoza which didn't taste very fresh. Kinda like the frozen ones you get at the store and steam. But I guess if you're trying to satisfy a gyoza craving and authentic spots are limited in Colorado, this probably will hold you over. We both ordered the tonkatsu ramen. I wanted mine spicy, so they gave me a little container of chili paste. I threw the whole thing in after tasting the broth because it tasted diluted. The chashu pork was charred on a grill and the smokiness of that really took over the broth. Like it should have just been called smokey ramen. I will mention the staff were *very* kind and if I were ever to come back I would say it would be for them.

Yelp
We went in on Sunday and it was relatively quiet. Service was quick and the place is modern and clean inside. Ramen tasted good. Would go back in the future.
google avatar

Ed H.

Yelp
Decent although not great and not super authentic Japanese food. Stopped in to this strip mall ramen shop for lunch. Started with the gyoza and they were pretty good. Had the Tonkostu ramen and it was also pretty good. Not the best I've had but more than passable. Some decent chunks of grilled chashu. Noodles were nice. Broth was pretty good, it had some depth to it. Toppings also decent although not a huge fan of the taro or fish cake. Service we efficient. Place was clean. Would stop in again if in area.

Yelp
I came here because of the Yelp Check-In discount, and TOTALLY FORGOT to use it. So, if you're coming here, don't forget to check in on Yelp for 15% off the bill. :) I wasn't in the mood for ramen, so I ordered the salmon poke bowl and the chicken fried rice. The fried rice was good enough, and I liked the little bit of ginger that came with it. Personally, the best fried rice dishes have a little bit of ginger and this one was no different. The salmon poke bowl was large and filling. No avocado, but all of the other usual ingredients (and corn) were provided. Good for two to share as a main dish or an appie. Don't bring drinks in here - even if closed and sealed, they will yell at you and ask you to toss it or come back when you don't have them with you anymore. Service was otherwise not attentive, but I think they were understaffed and running between the kitchen and the dining area. Plenty of parking in the lot here. Located on Colorado Blvd in a bustling part of town. No wait for a weekend lunch.

Yelp
This place has wide selection of ramen. It was kinda hard to decide so I stuck with my normal Shoyu. It was very tasty and just what I needed on a cold winter day. I also ordered edimame which was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Service was good and prices were good considering it was a huge bowl. You can actually make it 2 meals if you're not that hungry to finish it in one sitting. Good ramen if you're in the area!
google avatar

Kristy S.

Yelp
Have to say- I could have made instant ramen at home and it would have been better flavor and presentation. This is a soul-less bowl of sad ramen. I don't know what got into me thinking I'd try Ramen in Denver. The Chashu had an odd toughness and flavor of grilling. It was terrible. I know many don't know any better- but this is a below sub-par level of ramen at a premium price! I regret being Japanese because this food just made me mad. Please just stop making bad ramen America!
google avatar

Amelia B.

Yelp
Ajinoya Ramen killed it! I ordered the Miso Ramen and finished the whole bowl. Every element was executed perfectly, with so much flavor in each bite. The staff was very professional and timely in checking in with customers. I got my meal within 10 minutes of ordering. This restaurant is a great spot for catching up with friends or grabbing a quick bite solo, with plenty of variety on the menu.

Nate S.

Yelp
Says open drove miles and the place is closed, No heads up wasted time and fuel. Wanted to give them a try but no cigar
google avatar

Shruti J.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on Saturday night - walked in and wasn't as busy. Enjoyed the shoyu tonkotsu ramen and miso ramen - I loved how smoked the pork was in both these ramens, definitely added to the flavour of the broth. Husband also got the miso soup which was good but not piping hot. Service is quick and friendly! Definitely get the shoyu ramen!
google avatar

Johanna T.

Yelp
Decent ramen. The noodles are solid, but the egg didn't seem freshly soft boiled. The soup was a bit too heavy on the shoyu, so much so that it was quite salty. Overall a great option but not my favorite bowl of ramen ever.
google avatar

garland w.

Yelp
I keep coming back to this place when in Denver because I love their Shoyu Ramen. I find it to be one of the best tasting shoyu ramen I've had in the country. It might be personal preference, but I travel around the county for work and have tried out quite a few places. This is the only item I order off the menu and ask for the egg noodles.
google avatar

Mark L.

Yelp
Food was adequate and delicious enough, but not too authentic in terms of the quality of the noodles or the soup base. The ambience was definitely a lot more modern and far less Japanese. Service was pretty good with friendly servers. Price was pretty high for the quality or taste.
google avatar

Cassandra C.

Yelp
I ordered from here through DoorDash and the food came quickly. It was thoughtfully packed to ensure no spillage. I ordered a side of gyoza - delicious! Loved the sauce it came with. The Gyudon bowl cake with a complimentary miso soup. I didn't enjoy this one too much - there was not enough meat and too much rice. The meat also wasn't the best quality. I would consider coming back and trying their ramen!

Dakota H.

Yelp
I called to schedule an order 45 minutes before the place closes and they say that they close their kitchen at 9:20 and it's only 910 so I am leaving this review because I am hungry and sad that they advertise something that they do not offer and the lady was very rude on the phone so shame on you
google avatar

LittleLamb T.

Yelp
I've been craving for soup during my stay in Colorado at winter time. We found this ramen spot. We picked all types and mine is not really appealing the fact it was cold when it served :( Tonkatsu was good and flavorful though..
google avatar

Amber S.

Yelp
This has been my favorite ramen shop in Denver; They have a delicious tonkotsu shoyu with some of the best chashu and soft boiled egg.

Dan H.

Yelp
Ordered the spicy miso ramen and then tokontsu shoyu ramen - absolutely loved it! The flavor was so rich and homely. Portions were large and decently priced, and they certainly did not stiff on eggs and pork. Nice and attentive staff. Highly recommend!

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came in for a late lunch on a Saturday for the first time. Love the interior and decor, definitely a cute, intimate spot for a quick bite. There were only two couples dining in when we arrived, so no wait. We both ordered shrimp shumai for appetizer. It was actually pretty delicious and I loved the sauce it came with, light and flavorful. I ordered the seafood ramen which was a seafood base broth with shrimp, scallops, bean sprouts, bok choy, and it was good but not amazing. The broth was sort of bland. Like nothing exciting or have any complex notes like a ramen broth should be. It's almost like I wanted to add the seasonings to it myself. Flavors were the only thing that really held this ramen back which is unfortunate because it truly has a lot of potential! Our waiter was a gentleman, didn't catch his name, but he was friendly. Not so much the rest of the staff, tsk.
google avatar

Leroy B.

Yelp
Pretty good food. Not amazing but pretty good. Bill was $38 for 2 items. Not sure if the prices matched the quality but still good.
google avatar

Rhessa V.

Yelp
As usual, i found this place on Yelp. We were in Denver area on a cold December night and a ramen place was the perfect spot for us. The place is a little hard to find as we circled around the strip mall and had to ask someone for the exact location. The entrance turns out to be in front of the row facing the street so it's a bit of a walk to get there. The ambiance is bright, simple and modern. The inside is clean and organized. Service was fine. We ordered their most popular which is the Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen. It was good but not the best. Broth was okay with a little kick to it. Chashu was soft and tasty. Portion and price are fair. We also ordered the chicken karaage which was good- crispy with good flavor and pairs well with the dipping sauce that came with it.
google avatar

Jingjing G.

Yelp
Service is really bad and food is not fresh at all. They do not respect customers. We wait too long to get a waitress come over to place our order and she doesn't even know how to speak English.
google avatar

Mary L.

Yelp
Love their Tonkatsu and return for it often. Haven't explored other meals, 'cause this dish is so delicious. Affordable and pleasant; good staff!
google avatar

Lauren J.

Yelp
Came here on a chilly day with my hubs. The inside is super cute and bright. We started with the gyoza which struck us as housemade. They were delicious. We then got the spicy miso and tonkotsu ramens. Both were super delicious and we almost finished the broths before calling it. Definitely our new go to ramen place and love that it's close to our house! Staff was friendly.
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
A great place for a quick bite. Not as authentic as I might have liked but overall a good not great lunch that will keep you full for hours - portion sizes do not disappoint :-) - note: PLEASE offer spicy level options - the hot sauce on the side option is not good
google avatar

hansell g.

Yelp
It was amazingly flavorful. Really good experience. Bunch of action figures and anime decor for the anime lovers like myself. Very nice staff, and overall a great environment

Angela C.

Yelp
GREAT RAMEN- wow! The flavors plus the uniqueness of the environment pulls it all in.
google avatar

Marisa E.

Yelp
This was just mediocre ramen, but okay enough to get a fix of some ramen. My both tasted a little under seasoned and meat a little salty. The service was subpar but they may have been understaffed that day
google avatar

carrie y.

Yelp
This ramen was the best I have ever tasted that I could have cried. I am definitely a ramen fan, but I usually am disappointed with the broth. This broth though? DELICIOUS to the last drop. It had a smokiness to it from the pork and I finished the whole thing. The egg, veggies, noodles..just everything..PERFECTION! I will have to go here every time I visit. Perk was that it's literally across the street from the Marriott. Just delicious.
google avatar

Vanessa H.

Yelp
Todo estaba excelente! Solo lo que no me gusto es q no hay menus imprimidos , asi podrias darte una idea de la comida. Pero la ramen soup estaba deliciosa.
google avatar

Kevin W.

Yelp
Good authentic ramen is pretty hard to come by in Denver and I'm on a search for it. I got the tokotsu Shoyu ramen, and it was good but not out of this world. I love having a thick hearty tonkotsu broth which many places in Denver lack. The noodles have a decent chew but aren't firm (I've dined in before so I know it wasn't from delivery). However they do make good chashu, it has a nice chat, sweetness and fatty bite to it. It still doesn't compare to let's say Ichiran, or the many whole in the wall ramen shops in Japan. Or even the ramen spots I had back home.
google avatar

Danny C.

Yelp
Tonkotsu ramen was really bland, definitely does not live up to the hype. Tastes more like mediocre Chinese noodle than a bowl of authentic Japanese ramen, especially the broth that tastes off. Chicken Katsu curry rice had decent chicken but the curry was diluted. Interior looks fun but the tastes was unexpectedly disappointing. Might have gotten a bad batch of ramen, may not return the next time we drop by Denver.
google avatar

Hien N.

Yelp
The place is clean and not too noisy. From the beginning, we weren't greeted with a friendly vibe even though it wasn't busy. We didn't like our appetizer and asked to switch for something else, but they made it difficult to do so. My ramen had some flavor, but my friend's katsu don was plain. I gave the restaurant 2 stars with the hope that they acknowledge this review as a genuine feedback for improvement because honestly I didn't find this experience enjoyable.
google avatar

Marcus P.

Yelp
Rarely have I ever walked out an establishment due to poor food, but this was horrible. I ordered the dry ramen with spice and this is what they brought me. Over cooked broccoli, tough and dry chicken, and squishy noodles. Not the best moment.

Jared N.

Yelp
Yummmm May I say more! Jared here from utah may is say more, yummmm! We needed light but delicious and this hit it out of the park. The ramen bowls were filling and delicious! Great service and the drinks were yummy. Would suggest this place anytime.
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
Awful ramen but great service and great food besides the miso ramen Miso soup and seaweed salad are delicious
google avatar

Brenda P.

Yelp
I saw this place when I was on South Colorado Blvd, taking my watch in for repairs. The repair shop said it would take about 30 minutes, so I decided to stop in for a quick bite. Good decision! I had the Yakisoba with chicken. It was delicious. They have many ramen dishes, too. Next time I'll try one of those!
google avatar

Clarissa J.

Yelp
This place is consistently delicious with quick + friendly service. We first tried them during the lockdown and then as we were comfortable eating out we began to dine in. We've never had a bad meal either delivery or dining in. Our favorites are the tantan ramen and the miso ramen as well as the Yakisoba. Please give this place a try if you need some amazing ramen. Also, In case you're having trouble finding it, if you park in the parking lot it's around the corner and faces Colorado Blvd on the side of the little shopping center.
google avatar

Marissa F.

Yelp
I went here for lunch with a friend a few weeks ago. Went about 1 o clock. The place slowly filled as I was waiting for my friend. Service was great and they were super nice. As soon as we ordered it came out quick! The ramen was delicious! I got the tonkatsj and my friend ordered the tonkatsu shoyu. Both delectable. This is a great, affordable, delicious ramen spot!
google avatar

Alexa R.

Yelp
A friend and I were looking to get ramen and luckily we found this spot. It was so cute inside and they were busy, but we still got our food quickly. We had the edamame which was delicious, lightly salty which added a great flavor. Then, we ordered the Shoyu ramen which was extremely flavorful. It was the best ramen I've had. Overall, the staff is super friendly and quick. I think this is a great place to go if you're looking for some delicious and quick ramen.
google avatar

Yvonne C.

Yelp
Went here with my sister for dinner and it was very yummy. Service was a tad bit slow but I think that was mostly because they were very busy. The karaage was very crispy and the sauce that came with it was amazing. The tonkatsu ramen was also very yummy.
google avatar

A K.

Yelp
Casual atmosphere. Fresh food. Delicious ramen. Friendly service. Simple menu. Fair prices
google avatar

Terra N.

Yelp
Solid ramen, subtle but nerdy vibe, bright and good servers! Nice warm ramen on a cloudy day is the best.
google avatar

Dylan S.

Yelp
Was recommended by a coworker after moving here and was not let down. Enjoyed the ramen. I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen but chose to make it spicy. Chasu was very tender and broth was great.

vianeey a.

Yelp
Food quality has gone down the drain since their change in management. Service is awkward and weird. The vibe to the place is off too because they want you to leave as soon as possible. Never open after 7pm even though their hours on multiple websites say they close at 9pm.
