Ajisen Ramen

I got the Ajisen ramen. It was good. Especially after a cold day. Noodles were tasty and thicker than the average Noodles. I jist prefer thicker Noodles Broth was tasty! only wanted to try the basic ramen here before trying the other flavors. Once I added chili oil it was way tastier. Felt something was missing though. Maybe some salt or soy sauce. Still good though. Will come back to try the other ramen broths! Service was great. Servers were attentive to my needs. Very nice hard working people working here. Also nice atmosphere to eat in!

Food was really good. Probably the best ramen I've ever had. It was properly spicy and the broth was THICKK. HOWEVER the men's bathroom was absolutely disgusting. They really need to clean it. I don't know how they can expect paying customers to use that. I did not like the 18% service charge added to the bill. Glad I caught that and didn't tip on top of it. Sorry to the ppl who ended up giving a 36% tip. The service was not good. No one came to refill my water nor did anyone ask how we are doing with the food. You know the usual waiter stuff. The guys cooking up the food deserve the love and a raise. The rest.... Just get rid of them

First time coming here & im happy with my choice had to wait 5 mins for the waitress but she was sweet & friendly. The food was delicious & made fresh. Nice big portion & if you dont understand something they will explain it. Ive been to other ramen but not like this. Recommend & will come back.

Really nice to finally have some delicious ramen in a city full of average ramen. Snacks and sushi are also quite tasty. Highlights include Beef Sukiyaki Ramen, Spicy Ajisen Ramen, Spicy Yellowtail Roll, Shrimp Tempura, Spring Rolls, and Spicy Beef Ramen. The kitchen is impressively quick - food is served just minutes after placing your order. Don't think you can make reservations but walking in has resulted in instant seating both times I've visited so far. Keep in mind that gratuity is automatically included through an 18% service fee.

The food was good. Standard Japanese curry with pork katsu. The karaage was really juicy but did not come with mayo so u have to ask for it else it comes with Thai sweet chilly sauce which is a bit odd. Overall was decent, will come back again to try their ramen next time. 7/10

Brian was amazing. Our friend took us there to celebrate my birthday and honestly the vibes and the food was excellent! I would recommend to anyone, If I get the chance to come back to the city you can catch me here!

Excellent! Loved the ramen here. We were exhausted after a long walk and were lucky there were a few tables available because 10 minutes after we arrived place was full and people outside lined up waiting for a table. Service was friendly, fas and efficient. We had our beer, some nice appetizers and delicious ramen. One was supposed to be mild spicy but it was actually spicy!! Haha we love spicy so no problem for us, but just in case you like spicy but not too much, I would suggest to avoid those on the menu. We just knew there is another Ajisen closer to our hotel and wile will try it for sure, hopefully it will be as good as this one in chinatown.

One of the best places and my favorite place to go and eat some ramen. Highly recommend going here. I would suggest going on a weekday if possible or not around lunch.

Just found out! 5 days ago! Thank you Yelp and a recent review.... I paid tips twice. Not going to fool me 3rd time. This is one of those restaurants where they included tips on the recipe. SO BE CAREFUL! This place the food is amazing. I loss $10.00 bucks, and how far can they go. ITS NOT THE MONEY ITS THE PRINCIPAL!

I have been to many Ramen spots throughout the city (Ichiran, Ivan's, Totto, ippudo) to name a few, and I make good ramen myself. I happened to be in the area of chinatown and curiously dropped in to this place and had the spicy ajisen ramen. The ramen left little to desire. The broth lacked balanced flavors and the noodles were spaghetti. All the unfresh ingredients seemed sloshed into the bowl leaving my tummy uneasy. Luckily, I read the comments about the service fee being added in small print on the receipt and I learned that the ramen and a beer came to a total of $35.00! I will not be returning.

Been here multiple times, always enjoy the food! The ramen is solid each time and the servers are always nice. I tried the rice bowl the last time I went and that was delicious as well! I usually go for lunch so it isn't too busy, can always get a seat here.

This used to be my favorite ramen/curry restaurant in Chinatown. It was affordable and still delicious. However, recently, the prices have gone up and the quality has gone down. The portion sizes are big but the taste of the ramen broth was off. The chashu was dry and not typical for ramen. If you don't like the fattyness of normal chashu, this might be better for you. The chicken katsu curry used to be my favorite in nyc. But the rice was so dry that even the curry could not help. The pickled radish was the best part of the dish.

Wow, just wow! Delicious ramen and very reasonable price for NYC! I don't understand all these negative comments, give this place a try and you'll love it! Very fast at serving the food and polite people.

Yum!! I'm not sure why this doesn't have better reviews...it was our best bite in NYC this trip! The tenderous rib ramen was extremely flavorful and had that velvety, thick broth that you want with ramen. Noodles were very good, too. The staff was attentive, filling up our water over and over, which was so appreciated on a hot day. And prices are really great, too! We'll be back.

This place always hits the spot and one of my go to places after work. The service/ambiance here has always made me and my friends feel at home. My favorite appetizers are the agedashi tofu and fried squid. For mains I get usually will get the spicy aijsen ramen, Chicken Katsu Curry over rice or the eel fried rice. They also serve one of my favorite sakes Funi Guchi. If you are in the area and craving ramen give this place a try.

I came here for dinner with some friends and we shared some spring rolls and I ordered the chicken teriyaki ramen. The spring rolls were super yummy and so was my ramen. The spring rolls only came with three fyi but the ramen was a nice serving. Our server was so nice and professional and the restaurant is really cute with nice seating. I would definitely come here again!

Yummy ramen place, definitely one of better ones I've tried in the city. I had the spicy beef ramen with vegetable broth, I would get it extra spicy next time. The broth was amazing, and the quantity for the price was 10/10. The service was lacking and the restaurant seemed a bit unorganized as there were only two servers on the floor running around and the restaurant was almost full on a weekday! Would go back but probably just for takeout!

My 6 year old son and I stumbled upon this place while randomly walking about in Chinatown. They had a sign with a photo of ramen and my son got excited for it, and immediately wanted to dine in. I agreed and we went in. We waited about 10-15 minutes before being seated. They were a bit busy but the staff was hard at work. Seems the gentleman at the front was working solo (seating people, taking orders, and cleaning tables all at once) so I didn't mind the wait. He was very friendly and professional and seated us towards the back. My son and I ordered a shrimp tempura appetizer (to share) alongside the Stir Fried Ramen for me and the Beef Sukiyaki for him, although he only wanted the noodles. I did tell my waiter, and even though my son's dish came with the beef, I didn't mind because I took it out and ate it myself. He was also super busy so he may have misheard. The shrimp tempura was absolutely delicious. Light and crispy, with a fresh taste. The dipping sauce served with it gave it a bit of extra flavor but was nothing spectacular. My stir fried ramen was absolutely PHENOMENAL. The chicken was some of the best chicken I've ever had anywhere; perfectly cooked and seasoned. The dish overall was very delicious and filling, and the portion was very fair. My son really enjoyed his Beef Sukiyaki. Although he didn't eat the beef, he ate all the noodles and even drank some of the broth, and this says a lot because my son is a picky eater. I ended up eating the beef slices and they were very flavorful and cooked to perfection. The broth was also very delicious. This place was a fantastic find and I'm sure to return. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because of how busy it was and it seems they didn't have enough staff. Nothing wrong with the restaurant and the food, but I feel they should have a dedicated person waiting tables and a dedicated person at the front. If you're in the area be sure to check it out!

I like the beef ramen, nicely cooked and seasoned and the ramen broth was delicious. Highly recommend and would come again. Bathrooms downstairs, decent amount of seating.

Will this hit the sudden, insatiable ramen craving? Yes. Will you be impressed? Maybe, if you've never had good ramen before. Will your wallet cry? If you're from NY, probably not--but there's better places to go for ramen. If you're from elsewhere, YES. Overall, this ramen was a better than a lot of the ramens I've eaten. The meat and noodle portions were generous, but the vegetables were a bit lacking. The soup was the biggest disappointment: it was oily, but not in a very flavorful way (it was sort of...msg-y instead of meaty. I don't know how to describe it). The noodles were also wheat noodles and not traditional alkaline ramen noodles. We also got the japanese fried chicken to share, and while it was a big portion, it was not the super crunchy chicken karaage that I expected.

Simple, delicious, and a lot of flavor. Staff are friendly, but they were a little behind with a lot of people. Baos were good. The roll was delicious. And teriyaki chicken ramen was really good. The environment is really nice.

My friend recommended me this place for ramen and I approve! The broth was rich in flavor and very addicting. If you're looking for a light, fresh noodle soup meal, definitely give the Ajisen Ramen a try. We also ordered an appetizer of karage which was the perfect amount of crispiness. The waiter was fast in taking the order and bringing out the food. There is a huge amount of seating for people to settle in pairs or groups. In addition, they have a restroom downstairs.

Ajisen is one of my favorite ramen locations. I love the chicken teriyaki ramen and usually always get that. The broth is perfect and the chicken is usually really good. The ambiance inside is casual and the speed at which you get your food is always appreciated. I do wish the waiters didn't always take your order by memory because sometimes add ons are forgotten. Aside from the food being really good, I always just hope to sit in the front of the restaurant as the back tables do not seem to be the same quality and feel less professional for a lack of better word. My go to ramen spot!

A 24/7 craving!! I was so upset when I heard Ajisen Ramen was closing in their Flushing location, but the Chinatown location was not too far! The ramen has always been on my favorites especially the chicken teriyaki. This was my first time dining in so I decided to try the green dragon roll which was so good, there was a good amount of avocado and eel with the rice. Then we tried the fried squid which was one of the best I have ever had, its so crunchy and it actually has a lot of squid, unlike other places that serve you fried batter. Even though it was busy, the service was great, not too long of a wait for food. The ambiance was great as well, the music was not too loud ( most places play music so loud I cant hear anyone talking ) I also saw some small figurines that were so cute and reminded me of my childhood.

For the price definitely worth checking out. They did change their noodles in the past year and I preferred the old ones but the broth and meat is really good. The service is fast. Would recommend

The food is solid. The meatballs have a unique taste that I enjoyed. It was the most flavorful aspect of the meal. The service is sold, not great. The environment is one that is more reflective of a hole in the wall type of establishment. The music was low, and the drinks were served in plastic cups. Deal with it lol.

This is actually a really good ramen spot. We got seated quickly and food came at a decent pace. The fried squid was warm soft and chewy inside with a nice fried crunch on outside. There's sushi options in the Chinatown ny spot and a pretty good deal if you get 3 rolls. I really enjoyed all the food we ordered. The beef sukiyaki ramen was so tender and so delicious it might best the tonkasu curry by a hair. Def stop by and try!

Great food and amazing service. This place was also very spacious. The ramen was sooo good. I also had gyoza and the fried chicken for appetizers this was also really good. Honestly cannot wait to go back!!

Food was ok it catered to the younger crowd and Tourists. The place was dirty and unkept. It was dusty, and we found a strand of hair in our sushi (PICTURED) On top of this mess. They got the nerve to charge us 18% service charge for two people. It goes to show you they type of customers they get. WE LIVE AROUND THE CORNER

Ramen tasted good, my kids loved it. The teriyaki chicken cost 12 dollars with only several pieces of chicken in it (does not worth the price, portion is extremely small). The Japanese fried chicken has no favor at all, I was told to use the Thai sauce over it!!! ( chicken also have a weird taste, would not recommend to order this) I dined in with my 4 and 6 year old kids, They charged 18% tips mandatory which they Do Not have service at all !!!!

1/5 Ajisen Ramen (18th Bowl out of 100) Ajisen Deluxe Ramen - $14. Broth - 1/5. Very weak broth that's seasoned with salt and black pepper. Nothing special. Chashu - The slices are 1/5. Dry, no fat, and lack of flavor. HOWEVER, the pork tender rib is 5/5. Fatty and tender but the overwhelming strongest component of the three. Noodles - 2/5. Thick straight noodles... I don't know how to feel about that. At first, I thought it was the lo mein noodles but the noodles has a nice bouncy and firm chew to it. I say this would be the strongest component of the three. However, because the broth was weak in flavor, eating with the noodles wasn't as enjoyable. Side note: The egg was simply a hard boiled egg. There was no soy sauce marinate in it. Pork Buns - $8. The glaze/sauce was served on the side. The chashu itself was delicious and fatty. Karaage - $8. NOT Karaage. It's Taiwanese style popcorn served with sweet and sour sauce you get from AYCE sushi buffets.

Excellent ramen! Decent prices! Amazing broth that you can tell was made with love! Their fried chicken could be crispier, though. Get there early, as it gets crowded with hipsters very fast!

We ordered a tonkotsu ramen with karaage, which tasted like two packs of instant noodles with too much water. There's only one waiter for 15 ish desk. I served myself the karaage as it was sitting there for 5 minutes straight on the counter.

Not realizing I had come here already back in 2019 when the ramen was only $8-$9, on my quest to find some cheap, good hole in the wall ramen spots I recently came here again. Now the ramen is $12. I now know why this place wasn't very memorable to me. The ramen is mid. Not great, not bad, but it doesn't stand out. Won't come here again, but it was worth the try.

Came for a late lunch solo. Was seated at the bar. Fd was tasty. Nothing exceptional. Had the veggie ramen and asked them to make it spicy. Charged an extra dollar for "spicy". Reasonable price point overall.

2/22 is their special 50% off ramen day. How can you pass that up..LOL.. the standard house ramen was solid. The broth was hot and it isn't thick and fatty. Three nice pieces of charshu and half a hard boiled egg w/ nori. Noodles were cooked just right. A clean bowl of ramen at $8 w/ a 22% tip.. it hit the spot.

The food here was ok at best. The portion size for each dish is generous, but the taste is ordinary. I tried the Agedashi tofu, Chicken Katsu Curry, and the Spicy Ajisen Ramen. All the dishes came out in a reasonable manner. I appreciated how they sued soft-tofu for the Agedashi tofu because that is how it the traditional way of preparing it. The taste of the broth was not too salty, but a bit on the oily/greasey side. Both the ramen and Chicken Katsu Curry were not bad in flavor, but they were not tasty enough for me to want to come back here again. Besides the food, I am not sure if the restaurant is taking appropriate measures to ensure safety in the midst of the pandemic. I was not so comfortable sitting close to another table and I requested if I can get seated at a booth, to which the server gave me attitude.

This is the place that originated my love for ramen. Although I frequent the place a little bit less now because of my work schedule, I am still somewhat of a regular. And the waitresses/er surely don't forget my face, appetite, or request for an extra piece of Tenderous Rib (MY GOD ITS DELICIOUS!!!). My go tos - Fried Squid, Ajisen Deluxe Ramen (the more meat the better), Tangy Chicken Ramen, always with the extra piece of tenderous rib. I've tried their other ramen and dishes and they're delicious too but I stick to what I like (creature of habit lol). Also that broth is deliciously rich and creamy. There's never anything left behind in my bowls. One of the very specific details I've noticed about their ramen dishes, although minuscule, is that the egg served in the ramen is always at the same temperature with the rest of the ingredients in the bowl. I note this because I've been to a lot of other places across NYC serving ramen and I noticed some of these places serve their egg cold and it's kind of a bummer. I've been to the two other locations (Chelsea and Flushing) but honestly I think this is their best location. The atmosphere is nicer inside and their outside surroundings add to it. I absolutely love that not only do I enjoy the food, but the girls that I usually see waitressing know that I'm going to enjoy my meal and their happiness makes the entire meal worth the trip (I've literally traveled to Chinatown just for their food and go back home). If you couldn't tell yet, I LOVE this place and can't wait to go back.

Lunch in Chinatown Manhattan during the passage of my professional travels enable me to attain a quality bowl of curry ramen. I have not encountered curry ramen until now as I am enamored with Japanese curry. Japanese anime adorn the walls along with figurines and Japanese wall masks. I like the lacquer wood partitions which fends the illusion of a private booth. Service is mediocre, ergo, four stars as the male host appears blind as he can clearly see I was alone but still had the audacity to blatantly ask "how many people?" Are you a freak like me who frequently dine alone? Have you seen women dine alone? The loneliness never bothered me anyway. Followed by requesting for a cold glass of water on a humid August afternoon whoa, I have to request for water when it should be automatically provided without question?? Why should customers have to plead for this element? R9. Tonkatsu Curry Ramen $13 Panko breaded pork tenderloin cutlet with curry flavor broth soup. This entree ate my fill and the noodles were no shortage nor were the pork. Price is reasonable and includes one soft boiled egg. There were abundant Asian mung bean sprout embedded. The bowl was huge and the spoon contains a lip to hold onto the edge of the bowl which prevents from slipping into the soup broth. The curry broth is flavorful but I am accustomed to the taste of miso broth. For $13 this made my day. My predilection for Chinese hand-pulled noodle soup is always a higher preference than ramen as it always eat my fill. Nevertheless, this entree upholds substance. Yelp mobile check-in offer is available. Business cards are available for grabs. The disposable wooden chopsticks contain a cute girl holding a bowl embedded with Ajisen's logo.

I've been to Ajisen Ramen in Hong Kong as it's a very popular chain there. This is probably my third time dining at this ramen place in Chinatown. Place was pretty packed on a Saturday night (as in most restaurants in the hood) but luckily four of us managed to be seated right away. Japanese fried chicken: nice appetizer to have and good portion to be shared. We all opted for Ajisen ramen and Ajisen deluxe (with pork tender rib) ramen. Soup was flavorful, ramen was pretty decent and the chashu (pork) was tender. Don't forget to check in on yelp to get a free mochi. Note that only one is allowed per table. Service was quick and food was decent. Will come back again next time when I crave for a good bowl of ramen in Chinatown.

My family and I arrived at noon on a Saturday and were seated immediately. The waitress was very courteous and checked up on us several times to make sure we were alright. They made sure that a table was separating each party, so that we were all dining at an acceptable social distance. For the appetizer we had the Seaweed Salad, which comes in a large portion. It was delicious! I had to take the rest of it home with me. For the main course I wanted to try the Chicken Teriyaki Ramen, based on others' recommendations. Typically I would not go for this because I'd be concerned of my teriyaki getting wet, but this wasn't the case at all. The chef did a great job cooking the chicken so that it remained juicy and tender, without becoming soggy. The broth of the soup was creamy rich. The value of the entire meal was excellent, as the portions are quite big. I'd definitely come back here again.

It's Japan month and I made a trip down here just to try the special ramen. Guess what? They don't even have that. That is crazy!!!

They had cute outdoor seating and were the only ones open at the hour we were searching for noodles (Which was a cool 11AM). The tonkotsu ramen and spicy tonkotsu ramen were both just fine; nothing to write home about. But prices were fair and waitresses were quick and friendly. Thanks for being open!!

I truly enjoyed myself last night at this Chinatown ramen spot in NYC. Hanging out with my two daughters Thursday night, I ordered the pork rib ramen, I found the broth very flavorful and meat tender, had a lovely Glass of plum wine too finish it off. Staff very friendly and helpful.

An absolute favorite spot! I came alone for a nice warm bowl of ramen to enjoy by myself because there is nothing wrong with dining alone. The weather outside was freezing cold and I settled with a spicy Ajisen ramen. It was absolutely mesmerizing. It transported me to a nice and warm location where everything was just right. The chashu was aromatic and the noodles were perfectly firm. The broth was perfectly spicy for my taste buds. The service here is also splendid, thank you for such a great and comforting experience!

Good meat portion in the deluxe ramen but everything else was lacking. The ramen broth was bland and the bowl overall lacking typical ramen elements.Service was odd, barely gave me any time to breathe and it wasn't crowded. I took the paper off my chopsticks and immediately the server reached over to take it, same with my appetizer (which I was not done with)

See my photos. Decided to try Ajisen Ramen while on lunch break from Jury Duty. Nice service, cool interior with a sense you have traveled to foreign lands. Beautiful color posters, dark woods & very cool interior design. I ordered the Ajisen Ramen. Plentiful & good. I did add a little of the hot pepper spice available at my table. It's called "Nanami Togarashi"it's reddish orange & Black & Ive used this spice before at other Japanese restaurants. In my bowl of ramen was half a hard boiled egg, 3 tasty slices of pork, ramen noodles, seaweed and pork broth. Bowl was $8. Good. Thanks to Yelp & the Restaurant , I enjoyed a complimentary Mochi--I had the Red Bean, & it was great! I checked in while din All in all, a nice lunch. Side note--I would have preferred that the next table would not have used dental floss after their meal--I only saw the young boy with braces on his teeth using it & I was shocked. But, it would have been nice if he had stepped away from the table & done that.... like in the bathroom. Maybe someone will tell him.
