"Tiny, smoky tachinomiya (standing bars) are a Japanese staple for cheap drinks and simple food. Founded in 1923 — and now a small empire around Osaka — Akagakiya is the city’s great equalizer. Nowhere is this truer than at this Namba location, where exhausted office workers rub shoulders with builders, hardened day drinkers, and winners and losers from the massive off-track betting complex nearby. The doteyaki (beef sinew) and kizushi (vinegared mackerel) are standbys at their utilitarian peak. Vibe check: A boisterous, no-frills hangout for slinging around sake and beer with snacks. Akagakiya Namba now has a separate section for non-smokers." - La Carmina
Stopping by as suggested from our friend in Japan. We just happened to have a chance to tried out this restaurant but it turned out really nice! The food was great, service was awesome!!! Not in the mood for drinks but I tried some food and was impressed by their beef cutlet(?) Idk if I translate it right 😅 it likes the tonkatsu but instead of pork they used beef. Highly recommend!!!!!!

It's okay experience. Standing bar concept. Nice place to have a quick bite, limited grilled food. English menu contains limited choice of food. Japanese menu has more extensive choices. Service is slow and not very comfortable.

The beef rolls and katsu were amazing! It’s a pretty small standing bar so it was a tight squeeze but the food was so good.

There’s no seats so be ready to stand! They don’t speak English very well but they’re very kind! Make sure your google translate works ! Food was great super cheap prices !

My favorite standing bar in Osaka. When I'm here I'm definitely there for my first meal and beer.

Han-chan, the intern, was very helpful as she could speak English. She recommended us their top sellers and they were good. No min order per person and no requirement for each person to order drinks. Cash only.
