Google
The only place I go for sushi these days. I love the daily specials. Great happy hour deals from 4-6pm. Service is very kind and professional. Qualify of the sushi is ultimately the best part and the main reason you wanna go here.

Houston Cab

Google
Staff was friendly and super funny! Thought we would give this place a shot and it came up short of great. Fish was dry, and lacked that good buttery taste. Also the hamachi was dry.

SJ Rock

Google
Great Tempura! Food and service is always exceptional and two of us had a wonderful tempura lunch, generous portions at super reasonable prices. A must stop for lunch or dinner if you are anywhere in the area..

Sarah Balboa

Google
Love, the food is amazing and the service is amazing as well and they have fantastic drinks and sake.

Google
I had high hopes for the restaurant but the fish was mediocre. Ordered the chirashi and was well presented, but the fish were not great. The tuna was bland and had quite a bit of gristle.

Google
I do not like giving bad reviews but will not be going there again. This is my opinion and I urge you to try it. Make your own decision. I may have got them on an off night. Food presentation was on par. However, taste was lacking. While we all know sushi rice is sticky, this seemed to be left on plate for an extended time. Fish seemed to have a slime on it, and the tempura was greasy. Service was good but you seemed to be left alone a lot. Plates were just placed on table and no time was a simple explanation gave. Example "Here is the Dbacks roll enjoy". Seems petty, but we ordered over 10 rolls. Finally, please go yourself. I hope to hear you had a great experience and mine was just a bad night.

Google
Let down here. We went here for lunch and got quite a spread. About 2 out of the actual 6 rolls we got were worth ordering a second time. The Miso was bland and the overall quality could use improvement, especially when it comes to the tuna. For the price, these rolls should be good quality. I would skip this one.

Google
I am so happy I found this sushi and grill restaurant. They have an extensive menu and it is fresh and delicious! The staff are all welcoming and friendly. The lunch sushi special is only 13.50 and includes everything in the pictures I posted. They have a sushi bar, as well. This is my fourth time eating here in one month, it’s that good!

Yelp
By far the best baked scallop roll I've ever had. Love going here to treat myself. The service is great and fast.

Yelp
This place has been a staple for us for sometime. Quality all the way around and top to bottom staff is always great. I think by this point we may have tried just about everything but tonight was my middle daughter's date with date before school and she wanted ramen. I gave her a few options and she chose to come back here again which I love cus I think their sushi is top shelf. Thankful for another great time and look forward to the next

Yelp
I've been in a sushi sort of mood lately. Excited to see a sushi spot near me with relatively high reviews, I made a stop in for lunch before I continued on my journey. After reviewing the THREE menus (that's a lot of menus), nothing on the happy hour menu was grabbing my attention in a good way. After waiting a while for my server to return to take my meal order, I finally opted for the Chirashi bowl. This came with miso soup and a small bowl of ginger dressed salad. The Chirashi bowl itself was lovely, with lots of different kinds of sashimi delicately placed. The flavor was where I had an issue. A lot of the pieces, especially the ahi tuna, had this odd chemical flavor with it. As if someone had sprayed down a table near it? The whitefish and shrimp had that same flavor. I have never finished a Chirashi bowl and thought, "I really liked those Krab sticks and tamago slices the best!", yet there I was. I left some of my $30 bowl of fish instead of finishing it.

Yelp
I had called a few restaurants to make reservations for a large party for my boyfriends birthday and every restaurant either wanted to charge more with "event" fees and not be able to split the check, which I understand why - but I just wanted a simple surprise birthday dinner, we just have a big family and wanted to include our friends also. We had the best experience here! Making a reservation was so easy, we reserved the patio. The service was amazing, the server even treated the birthday boy to a shot. I had brought a cake and they happily stored it for me during the dinner. We already loved this place, but now we have our forever go-to when we all want to get together. Thank you to for such a great night!

Yelp
It was nice of the waitress to mention that their happy hour menu can now be taken to-go (they have outdated menus). It's a darn shame that although there's a plethora of sushi roll choices, there's no description of what exactly is in each specialized sushi roll. I ordered a two rolls of sushi, spicy fried chicken, and a cucumber salad. It cost me $30.70. First off, I noticed that the sushi is hastily made as some of the pieces are haphazardly made and easily fall apart. The sushi itself was fairly decent. The fried chicken wasn't crispy at all and it's made spicy due to a sauce they dump the chicken in; this sauce wasn't tasty. The cucumber salad is shoestring style and it was forgettable. Speaking of this place not bothering to update; it looks like this place used to be called Mr. Sushi since that's what it says on the receipt.

Yelp
Nothing says sushi like the middle of the desert! I came here after my flight landed for lunch. I was looking for a place I could kill some time and have a good meal and found this place. I do love sushi even though I don't often order it. I ordered the chicken teriyaki and the rolls royce roll. The chicken teriyaki came out on skewers with a salad and a bowl of rice. The salad didn't appeal to me and the teriyaki sauce was a bit overly sweat, but overall not a bad dish. I enjoyed mixing the chicken with the rice and was semi filling. The rolls royce roll was supposed to have some habenero in it and be extra spicy but it wasn't at all. The tuna filling also kept popping out and didn't seem rolled very tightly together. Overall I enjoyed the meal. I have a fairly high standard for good sushi and this wasn't great, wasn't bad, just right in the middle. Would absolutely come back here as I don't imagine there are many sushi options in the desert. The service here was friendly and fast and the restaurant was large and split into some smaller sections with outdoor seating. Overall a good casual lunch experience.

Yelp
If you like sushi, then you need to treat yourself to Akaihana. One of the best places for sushi in all of Arizona. Grab the Sushi Dinner Special if you're not sure what to order. #DukeOfEats

Yelp
The fish here is really tasty and fresh. Also a great happy hour menu and staff is always nice!

Yelp
This place is perfect if you're very hungry. The portions are huge. Service was excellent. Bento boxes are inexpensive. However, the chicken teriyaki came out cold. It tasted delicious but would've been better hot. The tempura was delicious, fresh and hot. The sushi rolls were also good. We also had salmon teriyaki and it was perfect. Recommend if you're in the area and craving Japanese food. Enjoy!

Yelp
Best sushi ever. If you're in Phoenix you have to visit Akaihana. My family and I have been enjoying the food offered at this restaurant for over a decade. 1 million / 10 recommend. The vibes at this place are so great I love going.

Yelp
My daughter and I have come to this location several times in the past, and we like it enough to keep returning. Atmosphere is good and so is the food.

Yelp
Place is small but great. Happy hour all day. Great food! Fresh sushi. Love it! This is a pla e to add to your weekly happy hour repertoire!

Yelp
I love this place. Sushi and teriyaki and sake bombers. I've been many times and there's always a bunch of people. Check it out

Yelp
Nice place! Authentic food and good vibe! Very chill environment with service to details. Will come again for sure.

Yelp
This is my second visit here, and I absolutely love everything about it. The portions are large. The food is fresh and very tasty. Highly recommend it. The place is consistently busy at lunch, because it is awesome.

Yelp
This is a family friendly local sushi joint. Don't go here if you are super into authenticity but if you like the American style rolls and decent Japanese food that isn't super authentic but will fill the family up. Service is superb. I particularly liked our Waiter who was clearly Not Japanese but had the honest and welcoming heart that any restaurant owner would treasure in an employee. He made our birthday dinner particularly special. I hope they keep him forever. I think he was either middle eastern or North African heritage. Possibly East Indian. He made our night. He was always coming around to make sure we were ok. This is a great place to take family and friends for a casual and tasty Sushi dinner.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch one day with my daughter & we had a couple rolls to try. Both were good. Super sweet lady waiting on our table & the guy behind the sushi bar was friendly as well. Nice clean atmosphere with a lot of menu items.

Yelp
You better have an idea of what you wanna eat otherwise their menu will have you thinking for days. SO many options. If you sit along the bar, the service and attention you get is great. The employees are interactive and friendly, but not bothersome. The food is always good here, fresh and clean. I like this place... a lot.

Yelp
Always a nice environment and great food.. me and my husband been coming for so long.. Family on the side of us with supposedly a service animal looking at the vest was drinking out of the water cups they serve water in. Normally when I see service animals they sit next to the owner on the ground. These people had a poodle with a service vest on.. I am not against animals I love animals have a chow chow myself.. but after coming here and seeing this family allow there dog to drink from the cups they serve water I lost my appetite.. sadly it's regular customers that come and bend the rules for themselves and give you an eating experience that gets you double thinking returning When I asked the waitress if dogs are allowed they said "family said it's a service animal and I said I didn't know service animals are allowed to drink from the same cups they serve customers with" she was so sweet and told the family.. but seriously people if you don't have a service animal don't bring them and lie about it you end up having other customers loose there appetite and in turn the restaurant looks unsanitary and unclean.. I love animals but people need to understand not everyone is comfortable eating out of a dish your dog ate out of... We spoke to our waiter Leti and she reassured us that had she seen it she would of told them something also she gave us a 50 percent discount on our meal! Nothing the restaurant did it's just customers taking advantage! Thanks to Leti we will be back.. I get it every place has there regular customers but if the regulars have no consideration it will in turn turn away new customers...
google avatar

Joan P.

Yelp
We have been eating here, and loving it, for over 30 years! Everything is always delicious and the servers seem to be employed for several years. One of our favorites is (Leti -- not sure of the spelling). She is always so funny, fast, accurate....always makes our visit even more enjoyable! See you soon, Leti!

Yelp
The staff and the space were lovely.. I just felt that the food was a bit of a miss here The fish was kind of just there without anything interesting going on and there was aggressive amount of rice for every sushi. Luckily nothing tasted bad per say? But I didn't get the wow factor here Presentation-wise excellent though; also appreciate how much tonkatsu they gave us
google avatar

Fred D.

Yelp
Love this place. With three happy hours every day you can't go wrong with good non expensive Shushi.
google avatar

Mariah N.

Yelp
The food is always fresh and tastes so amazing and I never every get sick of eating here or from here ever!! And the employees and cooks are so knowledgeable and friendly when you walk in greeting you and helping you decide what to order. I love how small but spacious the restaurant is because you can choose to sit at bar top for up close and personal experience or if you come alone or can get the full dining experience with family or friends in the many choices of the areas to choose from that host your party . I love this place for sushi and never ever go anywhere else

Yelp
Love the combination plates , plenty if food, can feed 2 , great happy hour specials , service can be a little slow, price is fair, definitely will go back, food is always fresh and the restaurant clean, their vegetables tempura come in large pieces but nit always cooked,
google avatar

Anthony M.

Yelp
Came here mainly for the tonkatsu ramen. Vibes here were aight, cool house music in the background and spacious area. Service was excellent & waiter was super attentive. The BBQ buns were , super dope that they gave two options with it as well. As for the ramen, the broth was alright, IMO would've been better if it was a bit thicker, the meat was weird TBH, the egg had good taste but was cold, and the noodles were meh. Would definitely come back just for the buns
google avatar

Diana B.

Yelp
The food and selections and the sushi are amazing. Place has been here over 36 years. Would go here for lunch when working. Love their steak dishes, and everything else, their tea is great,Same owner,& Anthony & Lettie and staff are great

Yelp
This is a must go to restaurant for fresh and quality food! They have perfect family service and are always an up beat environment. My favorite order is the fried California roll and the mistake roll. Everything at this place is super premium and flavorful. Been coming here ever since it was called Mr. Sushi. This will be forever favorite restaurant.
google avatar

Yelp
Tried out this sushi place. It's in a strip mall by i17 and northern. I was pretty busy so figured it must be good. We ordered off the happy hour menu. We got two rainbow rolls, California roll, spicy salmon roll, and a California crunch roll. Food came out pretty fast. Wasabi was kinda weak, had to add a lot just to be able to taste it. The rolls weren't that good either. The rice was mushy and the fish was a little "fishy". Just not up to par with other sushi places. Won't be visiting this place again.
google avatar

Christina W.

Yelp
We have been coming here for years sine it was called Mr. SUSHI. The quality is fresh and consistent. They have always been attentive in a nice balanced way.. not at the table too much and we never feel hurried. They have bento box specials for lunch that are good. Family favorite here is the baked scallop roll and Ramen.
google avatar

Yelp
My husband and I came here for a late lunch. They have a good election of lunch menu. Lunch was included in their Happy Hour as well. I had a lunch sushi special. It came with 4 pieces of nigiris, spicy tuna handroll and a California roll. Their California roll was bigger than I expected. Great portion. The sushi special also came with a salad and miso soup. My husband had the Akaihana lunch box. Tuna sashimi, California roll, chicken teriyaki, gyoza...plenty of food. Great price and portion.

Yelp
First time here on my bday and I'll be back everyday now. Everything is amazing and chef was wonderful

Yelp
The food was overall amazing and service was great! I highly recommend coming here for your sushi needs. I wished they were in the Bay Area, California but I'm glad I stop by to try during my road trip.

Yelp
Still love this neighborhood spot. So thankful it made it through the covid bs, especially since they remodeled. Great prices. Fantasic service. Forever date night go to.

Yelp
My favorite sushi place. Authentic food and great staff. Mr sushi is great and the guys behind the sushi counter are so much fun. Highly recommend for family bit it is great for a corporate lunch

Yelp
I been coming to Akaihana since it was Mr. Sushi. It is one of my go to spots for good and cheap sushi (Happy hour menu). I love the quality and quantity of the sushi you get for price and on the plus side the food is always fresh. I've been to other places were the rice tastes old or they use the cheapest products for their fillings. Not here! I have yet to try a roll I do not like. My favorites are the California Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, avocado cucumber roll, and Tootsie Roll. Staff is always friendly and I love how enthusiastic the chefs are. They give very friendly welcome and special vibes as soon as you walk in. I also like how they place a very pretty flower on some of their plates. Always a recommendation for those in the area!

Julia G.

Yelp
Love the restaurant, our family have made this place our go to for sushi for about 8years. Must try!

Ukno D.

Yelp
This place has been great since I moved to northern phx... Their hand rolls are the best... And I just recently tried the 'mistake' roll... Amazing...

Chyna L.

Yelp
Had some great cooked rolls for those who don't love raw fish! Great happy hour prices also!

Yelp
This is my friend's favorite sushi place in Phoenix. We came here for dinner last night and I was slightly impressed! The menu is gigantic like overwhelmingly gigantic. I was so flustered trying to look at all the options so I managed to pick one roll that I really wanted. I thought I was still going to be hungry so the second roll I ordered was a rush screw it I'm just going to put my finger in the menu and order that since I spent so much time picking the first one. To start, we had the gyoza. It was good nothing special though.. just the typical. Super crispy on the outside. To drink, I ordered the matchatini. It was vodka, matcha, lemon juice, and I think some kind of sake? Dont quote me on the last part. It came blended with ice and it was delcious. It was almost like a very light matcha frap from starbucks in flavor with a subtle hint of vodka flavor. I would have ordered 50. As for rolls, I ordered the rose royce ( this was my point and pick roll) and my first roll i cant remember the name of it but it dyatted with an R and had spicy tuna and butter salmon in it. The second roll was delicious best roll I have had in a while. The butter salmon was cooked slightly on the outside and the inside was still raw. The spicy tuna flavor was not lost at all but the butter salmon was definitely the power flavor. This roll was definitely rich in flavor. The rose royce was ok. I ordered it because it had habanero sauce in it and i wanted something spicy. It wasnt that spicy so do try it. The roll had lemon on top but it was cut too thick so it was just a very big punch on lemon which i did not like. Once I pulled that off it was better but then it was just a spicy tuna roll with tuna on top with spicy mayo, sriracha, and habanero sauce. I sampled my friend's dish. It was spicy tuna on top of tempura eggplant. That was really good. It was light and airy for the tempura and they put a ton of tuna on top. It was so much she had to pull some of of each piece to eat it, which is a great thing!

Yelp
My son and I just moved here from CA and we are so lucky to have found this place! It's right down the street from our house and we will definitely become regulars. We where greeted with smiling faces when we walked in, restaurant was clean, staff was officiant and friendly. Many delicious options on the menu and everything was adorable. Plus all day happy hour!!! This place is a gem!

Gil F.

Yelp
One of the best sushi places around. I've been coming here for over twenty nine years now. If you're in for a late dinner, make sure to check out the reverse happy hour specials.

Gail M.

Yelp
Over priced I had the worst service ever and I sat at the sushi bar. I wasn't asked once if things were OK.
google avatar

Yelp
First time here, great food! We called ahead and made reservations, which was a smart move!!! The wait quickly grew for those patrons who arrived on the fly. The ambiance was buzzy, lots of movement, fast service. Our server, Enrique , was super attentive, personable, and very funny!!! The tempura was crisp, but a little greasy, could have been fried at a higher temp to reduce fat absorption. The happy hour rolls are HUGE!!! Portions are shareable size, so don't over order!!! The hand rolls....SUPER HUGE!!!! The Chicken and Pork Katsu was so-so, not my favorite, but...that's just me (it's was the sauce that I didn't like-luckily the sauce was served on the side). I recommend, just call ahead. Solid grade: A!!!! Ask for Enrique!!!

Yelp
Hands down my favorite sushi place to go. This place quickly became my go to. The food is so fresh and delicious.

Yelp
We had a variety of sashimi: - toro - albacore - escolar All of these were great. Portions were large as well. We were shocked at how much sashimi we got in our order. I'd highly recommend the toro, it was delicious. I visited primarily for the monk fish liver and it was also the most disappointing fish of the evening. An order of monk fish liver comes with two pieces -- one slice was extremely firm and rubbery and the second was half rubbery and the other creamy. I expected a flavorful creamy texture. I have a feeling they either overcooked or this is very old. Service was okay, nothing spectacular. They did not check on our party enough, we ended up self serving where possible (grabbing menus, pencils, etc). Overall, I've had better. This place would work in a pinch for sashimi.

Rachel S.

Yelp
Delicious. Friendly staff great service. We went for our anniversary and they treated ua excellently with professionalism and kindness. Will definitely go back.

Yelp
Unfriendly server. Wasn't exactly the happiest person to be there. Sushi was just ok. Establishment not on the best location and not so wonderful inside. Sushi chef seemed friendly though. Over the top menu. A lot to choose from though

Shawnda P.

Yelp
Good service...it's was the best sushi experience I've everything had and we highly recommend

K. Dominique T.

Yelp
Food is good. Pricey, but I'm can't complain about the food. I ordered Togo but they were nice and it looks like a decent place to dine.
