"Akamai (which means “smart” or “clever” in Hawaiian) offers 100 percent Maui-grown and roasted coffee, including the award-winning Maui Mokka varietal. You can taste the quality in the cup, and the baristas know their business. In addition to perfectly foamy cappuccinos and lattes with decorative art, they offer New Orleans-style cold brew with chicory and seasonal espresso drinks spiked with macadamia nut and butterscotch. To nosh on, try the sophisticated avocado toast sprinkled with microgreens or the Belgian waffle with berry compote. Bags of whole roasted beans are pricey but worth it. Beyond the cafes, Akamai operates two drive-up windows, one in Kīhei and another in Kahului." - Shannon Wianecki, Bill Addison

Google
Hands down the best coffee in Wailea, love the Honeybee. The Belgian waffle with fruit and whipped cream is addictive and was gone before it occurred to me to take a picture. The Thai noodle salad and banana bread were good as well.

Google
We came for coffee/breakfast and we loved it so much that we kept coming back every day on our 4 day Maui trip! I highly recommend the avocado toast and tomato bisque. The seasonal autumn-spice latte was amazing. The service is very quick despite the crowd. There are plenty of tables with nice views of the ocean. Absolutely loved this place!

Google
Decent food, small portion sizes, very expensive. Great coffee! Service was ok, but they never check on you. You still tip like it’s a full-service restaurant though. Just keep in mind it’s a cafe in a high-end area.

Google
Best coffee I’ve had on the island this is local so everything is pretty fresh and good. This location when we went was extremely crowded. It was a good 10-15 minute line to order your coffee just coffee we didn’t order food or anything else be prepared if you want to make it a quick stop this might not be a good stop but other then that I recommend it to anyone looking for some local specialty coffee and drinks.

Google
We were driving past and had a side goal to find a great coffee shop. We scored! Great coffee, wonderful atmosphere and super people. Wish we had discovered it sooner on our trip. Best flat white I had on the island

Mike

Google
Great food, nice spot they is open early. Good coffee. It's a bit tight when it gets crowded and the setup of the ordering and delivery of food makes it a bit hectic when busy. Overall excellent food and coffee

Christie Baer

Google
DELICIOUS lattes and specialty coffee drinks and excellent service in this cute small coffee shop on the Grand Wailea resort property. Has both indoor and outdoor seating. Lox on toast was also a winner. Lemon bars are more sweet than tart.

Katrina Walter

Google
The food and coffee here was alright, but I ordered a caprese panini and the balsamic was put on the outside of the sandwich. None on the inside. It made it so messy and basically impossible to eat - I’m all for aesthetics but not when it completely ruins the function of an item. It was a bit ridiculous to spend $20 for a sandwich that then added effort/planning to consume….

Yelp
We visited Maui for 5 days and Akamai was a daily stop for us. Literally it was all I wanted. I didn't care to search any other coffee shops cause they were on point every time. No photos, but they also have such yummy banana bread!! Both the regular and chocolate chip were delicious. As well as their ham, egg & cheese breakfast croissant!

Matthew B.

Yelp
We went there twice ordered the same meals: 1) Mocha: 2/5 - both times had a metallic taste that I didn't like. must be the chocolate syrup. I'd order something non-chocolate... 2) lox, bagel and cream cheese: 5/5- my son had this both times and loved it. perfectly toasted and high quality lox 3) avocado toast: 5.5/5 amazingly delicious. I added a hard egg on top. would eat this every day if I could. 4) Banana bread with chocolate chips: 5/5 - i have tried lots of banana bread and this is in the top category. Just ordered some slices to go to eat on the plane ride home.

Yelp
I'm hesitant to give this amazing spot a 5. In fact I would but... When I came originally, 2 years ago, they only sold Maui grown coffee beans. Since their facility burned down they are now selling beans from other countries, none from Maui. Part of the draw is locally sourced coffee beans. I will say, I enjoyed their coffee and fresh delicious food 3 days in a row because its good, and I always prefer to support local. However, now that the product is sourced from everywhere but Maui, its not worth buying the bags of coffee. Does this coffee taste better than the other big conglomerate, yes! But the whole point is lost. They have no idea when they'll get their local product back. It is truly a shame. I'm seriously bummed. I will continue to patron because its still better than the alternative. I hope their investors can start pushing for the facility to get rebuilt and get back to what this business was built on, the local Maui coffee beans.

Yelp
Whenever I stay in Wailea, Akamai at Wailea Village is a must. I usually frequent the one on South Kihei road and Lipoa, but this one is just as cute! My usuals are either an ice americano or iced chai latte with oatmilk. There's a good out of outdoor seating to enjoy your drink with a view.

Beatrice P.

Yelp
Lovely coffee/breakfast spot in wailea with yummy bites and great coffee! It does get pretty busy, be prepared for a very reasonable line. We very much enjoyed the fresh Huevos Rancheros and Egg toast. The sourdough was delightful! We also had the iced Road to Hana with almond milk which tasted like a rich mocha latte. Servers were friendly. Plenty of seating outdoors and some spots to sit inside as well. Check it out if you are in the area and looking for a no frills, fresh food breakfast option.

Jordan B.

Yelp
Came to Akamai for a quick breakfast. Both the inside décor and outside seating area are the cutest, and the baristas inside were super nice and helpful. My friend and I loved the white chocolate oat milk Frappuccinos. They were nice and smooth and very flavorful, yet not too sweet. The turkey croissant sandwich I got was good, but it wasn't my absolute favorite breakfast sandwich I ever had, so personally I would opt for something else to eat if I came back here again. (Actually, I believe their avocado toast is their biggest seller foodwise so I'd probably try that.) All in all, Akamai provides a solid breakfast experience and I'd recommend it to anybody living in or visiting Maui. PS: Their stickers designs were amazing, so I had to get some for myself and my friends who own a coffee shop back home in Norfolk, Virginia.

Jacob N.

Yelp
Akamai is tucked into a beautiful corner of Wailea close to the luxury shopping center. The coffee is gourmet and truly delicious. There is seating outside which is nicely situated with greenery surrounding. Everyone was super nice and welcoming who served us! I loved my ham n cheese croissant and the tomato soup was delicious. There is parking on site. Only thing to get the coveted 5 stars was for the caprese fresh sandwich, please put the balsamic glaze on the cheese and not the bun so you can pickup the bread without making your fingers sticky. Lovedd everything and will come back!

Miyouko W.

Yelp
Busy busy busy! If you use apple maps, there is an error. Its not at the right location on the map. This place opens early and as you look at the store front, the patio is to the right side. It is in an L shape so it extends further out around the corner. Not much seating inside. Just a bench by the drink pick up area. Usually a line. Plenty of choices! I got the cappuccino, turkey breakfast croissant, and the yogurt with granola. Since it's pretty busy, seating here to study is highly unlikely. Not a great place. But if you do, its good for about an hour or so. There is a place that you can bus your dishes by the door entry and exit.

Annika P.

Yelp
This is a great coffee spot! We visited twice during our weeklong trip, plus one time to the other Akamai location in Kihei. The drinks were always delicious and the staff were friendly. This Wailea Village location was a great place to sit outside, sip our drinks, and enjoy nice views too. Would highly recommend the Road to Hana latte (R2H) and vanilla matcha here!

Greg H.

Yelp
We really like coming here when we're in Maui. Lots of healthy, tasty options and great choices for both adults and kids. If you want something quick and you're in Wailea this is a must

Tara N.

Yelp
Probably the best breakfast I've had on the island. The prices have gone up in the last year, but it's still worth it to me because of the high quality of the food. Definitely my favorite coffee. The service is always so welcoming and efficient. This location is perfect for a morning or afternoon coffee, as you can look out and see both the golf course and ocean from the patio. Catch me here every day =)

Celie H.

Yelp
Delicious breakfast and coffee. Highly recommend the egg toast and the iced road to Hana latte (I got mine without the chocolate and I loved it). I'm only docking a star because, even for Maui, the prices are truly absurd. 2 breakfast sandwiches and 2 coffees for $65? It's a lot. But the food and coffee are excellent! Pro tip: walk out onto the back patio and around the corner to sit looking out at the ocean while you eat. :)

Adam F.

Yelp
Lovely coffee, albeit a bit over priced, though this is to be expected for Maui. Nice atmosphere, not too loud. Great and friendly service and ample parking. I wish the hours were a little longer.

Aash S.

Yelp
Excellent food. Excellent service. Great atmosphere. Would love to come back any time I'm in Maui The avocado toast is so good! 5 stars The coffees are pretty good too. Especially compared to what's around. Recommend the late or the frap. Best breakfast spot we had while in Maui!

Mahsa S.

Yelp
This cute coffee shop/cafe is definitely worth visiting if you need a quick bite or coffee in Wailea. The staff is extremely friendly and the atmosphere is well decorated and welcoming. They have a large coffee menu with tons of signature lattes. I tried the Road to Hana and it was super tasty-- a classic latte with a macadamia nut flavor. They have both breakfast and lunch food, as well as smoothies. The grilled cheese was very hearty and filling; even though it took a while to get, it felt restaurant-quality rather than a coffee shop/cafe. My group also tried the caprese sandwich and egg toast, which were so pretty looking and tasty as well. Overall, the drinks and food are high quality and definitely worth it!

Ro Ann V.

Yelp
I visited Akamai Coffee and had a wonderful coffee catch up day with my friend. The atmosphere in Akamai coffee is bright and welcoming. It's a mix of an outdoor and indoor space. As you walk in, you can smell the coffee aromatics filling the air. At Akamai, I decided to try the lox and cream. It was a great choice, as I love smoked lox. It was a light brunch and it was paired well with the greens on the side. To quench my thirst, I ordered the Hawaiian Honey Bee Ice Blended Frappe. Blended drinks are my guilty pleasures. It was a smooth blend of coffee and honey together. I highly recommend Akamai Coffee to all, whether you are a coffee enthusiast or stepping in for a quick brunch/snack before the beach. Akamai coffee is the place to go!

Junai D.

Yelp
Decent coffee. Great atmosphere and the staff are super friendly even though the store is designed in a way that the sun cooks the front alive every morning. Food was decent and there's plenty of tables. Parking was easy too. While not amazing, I do enjoy the friendly atmosphere of this cafe.

Kristel T.

Yelp
Great coffee, friendly service. Banana bread was delicious as was the avocado toast. Glad we found this gem.

Mae M.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this cute little coffee shop while we waited for the Shops of Wailea to open up and I'm so glad we did! Somewhat like an upscale Starbucks, Akamai boasts a menu with a wide array of drinks and upscale brunch foods. My husband and I split a Croissant Sandwich and the French Toast and both tasted very good! The coffee was also pretty good. Seating is mainly outside on the patio which was shaded and pleasant. They also have a big parking lot so it was easy to pull right up. Would 100% return on our next vacation.

Emmeline W.

Yelp
Akamai has masterful roasts and amazing drinks-- Some of the best coffee we had on the island. Didn't get a chance to try their food since we arrived after their kitchen closed, but seems to be an overall well-rounded cafe. Appreciate that they source locally. Staff are super nice & quick. Our lattes were out within minutes of ordering. Outdoor seating is available, but fills quickly. ALOHA LATTE: Can actually taste the coconut & macadamia~ Silky sweet + richly brewed. We were swooned right away and immediately purchased a bag of their beans LOL. They taste just as fresh at home as in the cafe.

Yuri J.

Yelp
A beautiful, green and cute coffee/breakfast shop at Wailea Village. The baristas are the FRIENDLIEST and so accommodating. There was a line out the door at 8am weekday so it's definitely popular. Food looked delish and gorgeous, but we just picked up coffee (more on the acidic and sour flavor btw). Banana bread was the best way to start the morning - so moist and fluffy!

Frank B.

Yelp
Well, I tried but honestly I disliked the drip coffee. It's not often I hate coffee but this is one of those time. Ver acidity and off flavor just challenged my taste buds. I even attempted another visit and received the same tasting Java. However the ambiance and cleanliness of shop is a plus. Eats & treats are available for your morning fix. The outdoor patio really made me wanna drink coffee but just not from here. Wonder if I could stop by Starbucks and transfer contents into one of there receptacles? I'm just sharing my flavor experience not anything else. Just so you know I liked the friendly staff & and sitting areas just not the coffee. Sorry folks it's my review...

Nichelle W.

Yelp
Very good food, nice staff, comfortable outdoor seating with nice views. A little confusion on the coffee order as no one told us to wait before taking a seat with our order number. Would return again now that we know the ordering process. Highly recommend the French toast and yogurt!!

Soumen B.

Yelp
Lovely cafe with good breakfast options and wonderful views. We tried the Egg Toast and Caprese Sandwich and really like the fresh greens and sourdough bread. The service was quick even though the place was busy. Really nice food and good quality. Their coffee is famous and lives up to the hype.

Sarah N.

Yelp
We all know to expect to pay a lot for food coming to this area but the price gouging is ridiculous. We ordered the avocado toast, I asked how many pieces of toast are in the order. The lady says "2". Awesome, right? They give you two but it's two halves! And it was not very good. Probably one of the worst avocado toasts I've ever had. And I've had a lot, I live in California! The waffle didn't taste fresh, more from frozen. The egg sandwich fell flat as well. If this is all you have to choose from be warned. Expensive for nothing.

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Delicious locally grown coffee in Maui. They have a variety of food items- I recommend the egg toast. The honeybee and road to Hana latte were my favs. Service was super fast and friendly. Will be coming back for sure!

Sarahi P.

Yelp
This cafe was poppin! there wasn't a morning where there wasn't a line, but staff was incredibly friendly & quick to offer foodie recommendations if you were looking for inspo. Their breakfast was a 5/5 I had the huevos rancheros & they were delicious, and unique in the flavors, my bf got the french toast & said it was perfectly sweet He also loves drip coffee & they had a really great selection of flavors, and of course made to order so expect a few minutes wait. Overall, great place, we came here almost every morning so definitely a great coffee & brekky spot :)

Reg S.

Yelp
Great coffee - and a delicious take on huevos rancheros! Will definitely go back next time I'm in Maui.

Keizzel C.

Yelp
Beautiful space in Wailea near the shopping and new businesses. The area itself is really new but I like that they are on the top floor and have an outdoor shared patio area where you can enjoy your coffee and eats. It's a fairly small space indoors so don't let the line deter you as it goes pretty quickly. As you order you get your number and try to grab a table outside. Once you do they will bring your food over to you but will call out for your drinks. I enjoyed the aloha and la perouse lattes cold but curious to get them hot as well. We ended up ordering lunch here as well and would recommend the tomato and grilled cheese combo and the french toast entree if you want something to balance out the savory. Solid tomato soup and grilled cheese had the perfect crunch. The sticky toffee french toast is not your usual so if you want something with a more rich flavor definitely try. It is on the sweeter side with the chocolate and syrup but if you have a sweet tooth like me it's totally worth it! As our food was coming out I saw plenty of people order the egg toast so I will need to get that next time! Service here is friendly and the wait went pretty quickly as you sit outside surrounded by the greenery.

Monic R.

Yelp
Delicious, healthy! Organic options with beautiful outdoor seating area. Love the elevated options for coffee/breakfast. A nice change from some of the heavier foods available in the area. Staff was friendly and helpful.

Steve K.

Yelp
If you are staying in Wailea anywhere near the Grand Wailea, shopping mall/ golf course area, this is where you need to come for coffee/breakfast. We stayed at a condo about a 5 min walk from Akamai Coffee. Thankfully we tried them on our 2nd day, truly some of the best coffee and food we had on our trip. There is always a small line and it takes a few minutes to get your order but we'll worth it. Staff and service was great. Seating area is outside where you can catch a glimpse of the ocean, listen to the birds & breath in that refreshing island air. You need to try the avocado toast, not only beautifully plated, but out of this world yummy! From what I gathered, the menu rotates but everything that comes out of the kitchen was picture worthy! If you are at the Grand Wailea Waldorf Astoria and need a little break from their delicious and...ahem....expensive breakfast/lunch, Akamai is a nice 5-6 min walk in a truly beautiful area! Opens at 6am, says closed on Sunday but they were open for a partial day. I think 7-1 but call to be sure.

Brett N.

Yelp
This was a nice little coffee shop with outside seating. That NOLA Cold Brew was a nice and refreshing on a hot summer day. The food was also good, although pretty expensive. Staff was short so we ended up waiting about 30+ minutes just to order and another 10 minutes for the food. Hope it's not an everyday issue. This would be the only reason why I wouldn't return.

Nolan F.

Yelp
Very nice small coffee shop. Service was quick even with the long line, we had the nitro cold brew and the Hawaiian honey bee to drink, and an almond danish. The coffees were excellent, the nitro cold brew was light and slightly acidic with minimal bitterness. 8.9/10 The Hawaiian Honey Bee was slightly sweet with flavors of coconut and honey. 8.6/10 The almond danish was flakey and sweet. 9.5/10 Was a little expensive all together but still a great experience. Be prepared for a line, would have again.

Jenny L.

Yelp
Food: Limited food options for sure but the dishes that they do offer seem to have a good clean taste. I got their wrap and although I didn't find it to be anything special, it was still filling and enjoyable. The latte was good- the coffee didn't taste burnt and the latte art was pretty! Cost: A tad expensive but given the area we were in it was reasonably priced. Environment: The place had a decent amount of seating available but at the same time it seemed like this place got busy fairly quickly and so most of the seats get taken. I came here when it was just about to get busy and so we managed to snag a table before the crowd came in after my group. Service: The items we ordered came out pretty quickly. Uniqueness: Cute little brunch place around the area- would recommend to come and at least give this place a try!

Tori B.

Yelp
Awesome place with so much aloha! Not too busy when we came--11:30 on Tuesday. Ordering was easy. The sign said there would be a delay with the food because they're short staffed, but it was super quick that day. The patio tables made the wait wonderful. We had the Ban Mi Sandwich and Huevos Rancheros. Both were wonderful. The Nola was a lightly sweetened chicory enhanced cold brew. I don't like sweet drinks at all but this one was barely sweet--perfection! They also sell banana bread and a variety of locally made kombucha. Service was friendly--amazing experience!

Jada W.

Yelp
If you're looking for a quick buy good breakfast, this is the place. It's my first official day in Maui and we wanted great coffee and food. Our driver recommended this place and it did not disappoint. I ordered the French toast with an iced Hawaiian Honeybee coffee and my husband orders the Huevos Rancheros with a hot Hawaiian Honeybee coffee. We were pleased with both. The staff was helpful and extremely friendly, and the service was fast. The ambiance is casual, pleasant and laid back. Mahalo!

Christina N.

Yelp
The staff here was really nice, the shop is modern and clean. I ordered a medium iced Hawaiian honey bee coffee and a slice of banana bread. My order was around $12ish, a medium coffee is $6.50. The coffee was delicious and not too sweet. The banana bread was yummy too. I highly recommend to give this place a shot try if you're in the area. They also have really cute merchandise.

Ryan C.

Yelp
We were looking to grab some coffee before heading out for the day and found this was less than a 3 minute walk from our Hotel. We went around 9am on a Monday and there was a little bit of a line and also a little busy but there was a little seating in the outdoor area. We decided to grab an iced chai latte, an iced Mocha-Nut, and a mixed berry scone. Service was friendly and quick. The chai was like most other ones, still solid but the Mocha-Nut was really good. Little chocolatey, mostly got the coconut flavor. The scone was so good, a little bit of the berry flavor and had a lot of icing. Solid and quick breakfast. I would definitely like to try their other breakfast offerings next time because their menu looked solid.

Genezaret C.

Yelp
We stopped by this little cozy coffee shop for quick drink. We enjoyed the little hanging chairs and swung on them a bit. The drinks were quite refreshing and we got to relax here a bit. The bathroom is outside around the building but besides that great atmosphere. The servers were friendly and attentive.

Susan R.

Yelp
Always great coffee and customer service. Akamai has a great outdoor space to sit and chill, drink fab coffee, and visit with friends. Here's a few of their fab creations.

Mary Grace P.

Yelp
Lox Toast & banana bread.. I was really looking forward to eating this breakfast The service was fast & efficient. The staff were very professional & gave really good recommendations!

CaliGirl G.

Yelp
Craft coffees, light pastry offerings, freshly made warm breakfast and lunch menu. Love their French toast. Son likes their banh mi sandwich. Friendly and warm staff. Expect a small line out the door most days but it moves quickly!

Kyshia M.

Yelp
We needed some coffee and our first choice was closed so we came here. The gps had us lost but eventually we found it. This coffee shop gives a resort vibe. Peaceful and serene. I ordered their drip coffee which was really good. It had notes of black cherries, whiskey, and chocolate. I should have bought a bag to take back home. I also had a breakfast sandwich, croissant. I wanted the turkey meat but no ham and add tomato, but my sandwich ended up not having cheese or turkey. I'm still confused as to why. So I paid $10 for an egg & tomato croissant sandwich. What a doozie. My friend said his lox sandwich was good tho.

Ziba H.

Yelp
loved it! the matcha was superb (flavorful, not watered down, and didn't have a butt ton of sweeteners added in), the coffee was smooth and flavorful, the huevos were delicious, and the French toast was a great. A+ all around!

Chelsea V.

Yelp
First off, overly hyped. Lets dive into that. The food, some plates we're actually delicious, just not for the price. The coffee was mid, but SOME of the service was pretty fast. We had a situation where we ordered a ham and cheese croissant sandwich, a plain croissant was brought out even though we explained to the waitress we ordered it with ham & cheese. Then ANOTHER waitress came out, we told her the situation as she was taking our number away and she questioned if we ate the meat off the croissant. It was a odd situation to be in, like how do you ask a customer if we already ate it? Anywho-- After that we ordered 2 eggs and still didn't receive the second one. But having the same waitress, she asked if we already eaten the egg, as if we were lying about having a second egg. Again, weird. Other than that situation, like we said the food was good, not great. The views are extremely nice and a good walk from Wailea resort.

Alexis H.

Yelp
The chai and matcha lattes are delicious! Beautiful views all around on the patio. My family loves ordering a cappuccino and getting an almond croissant when they visit. Busy on Tuesdays due to the farmer's market but definitely worth the wait. The sandwiches are tasty, especially the caprese and the bahn mi!

Kelsey B.

Yelp
Beautiful location! Wonderful ambience. The drinks were decent and the menu is great but our food was so bland. The avocado toast (for $20 mind you) was truly 2 half moon thin slices of avocado covered with a pile of diced tomato/onion so it was really more like a tomato toast. It was still our go-to coffee spot; we just didn't try ordering food there again.

Kara W.

Yelp
Found this spot immediately off the plane landing in Maui. We had their specials french toast and rancheros. The coffee was great, the outdoor seating was perfect.

Amara R.

Yelp
The atmosphere is really nice, it's super clean, and the staff was super polite. The food looks amazing if you are wanting to take pics of it. We went twice on our Maui trip. The first time, my husband had the lox and cream cheese toast, it was delicious. I ordered the avocado toast, it is so beautiful, but a little bland, I think a little salt and pepper would have made it a 10. The second time, my daughter and I shared the French toast, an iced chai, and a chocolate frappe. The French toast was wonderful if you like sweet dishes. The chai was bland and the chocolate frappe was not the best. Add the egg to the avocado toast!

Sara B.

Yelp
1.9.24 We tried all 3 locations of Akamai coffee and had fantastic drinks & customer service at all of them. We found the first drive through stand on the way to Hana. Staff is cheerful, patient, and genuinely kind. Drinks are tasty and not overly sweet. At this location the barista bought all 5 of our drinks just because, which was SO generous and made our morning ! Thank you, Akamai, for providing many lovely starts to the morning in Hawaii, rain & shine!
