Hanukkah 2024 Los Angeles: Where to Eat, Drink, and Order To-Go Dinners | Eater LA

"Although this Culver City gem has closed, fans of its Hanukkah catering are in luck: you can still find Akasha’s holiday staples for pick-up this year. The headliners, of course, are the latkes: eight gluten-free Yukon Gold potato latkes, best ordered alongside homemade applesauce that uses local apples. Other dishes for order include slow-braised beef brisket, roasted vegetables, cranberry chutney, Hanukkah cookies, and apple crisp, with pre-orders available on Tock for pickup from December 14 to December 21." - Eater Staff

The Saddest Restaurant Closures to Know in Los Angeles, October 2025 | Eater LA

"Culver City’s longtime restaurant ended service on October 5 after nearly two decades; opened in 2008 in the heart of downtown Culver by Akasha Richmond, it featured globally influenced dishes prepared with farmers’ market produce. The closure was attributed to the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, entertainment industry strikes, and rising food and labor costs, though Richmond expressed gratitude for nearly 18 years of bringing happiness to guests." - Mona Holmes

Culver City Neighborhood Gem Akasha Is Closing After Nearly Two Decades | Eater LA

"A longtime downtown Culver City all-day restaurant, cafe, and bakery, this place closes on October 5 after nearly two decades. Opened in 2008 in the heart of downtown Culver, it served a globally influenced menu built on farmers market produce, never constrained to one cuisine—think tandoori chicken wings, Bali tofu curry, and a black rice stir fry. It was a local go-to around the Jewish high holidays for Rosh Hashanah take-out and dine-in dinners with vegetarian and gluten-free options, and during the pandemic it offered Passover dinners, where the “faux” chopped liver became a vegetarian favorite. Owners Akasha Richmond and Alan Schulman cited the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, entertainment industry strikes, and rising food and labor costs as reasons for the closure." - Rebecca Roland

Where to Get Rosh Hashanah Dinner in Los Angeles, 2025 | Eater LA

"An a la carte Rosh Hashanah menu is available for pre-order pick-up or delivery from Akasha Richmond and Alan Schulman’s Culver City restaurant, with some holiday dinner items also on the dine-in menu September 22 and September 23. Appetizers include green pea and walnut faux chopped “liver” and apricot- and prune-studded tzimmes, while entrees range from an old-school braised beef brisket to saffron chicken stewed with dates, Castelvetrano olives, caramelized onions, preserved lemon, and cinnamon. Two desserts are on offer: a local apple-honey crisp with almond-oat streusel and gluten-free coconut macaroons. Ordering is available via Tock." - Eater Staff

On the Grid : Akasha

"Akasha is cafe, restaurant, and bar hybrid in the historic Hull Building. The front portion is a cafe in the morning – serving Intelligentsia Coffee, pastries, and a full breakfast menu. The restaurant opens during lunch with an edited menu until dinner. They’ve also got a full bar that’s great for after work gatherings. The selection here is great, we’ve never been disappointed." - Rapt Studio
