We ordered delivery. The food arrived great, organized, and the containers were well split. Good appearance, BUT the bag that brought the food was small, plastic, which did not protect the container. Need to invest in better and compostable containers and bags with seals

The best Japanese restaurant in South Miami. Ambiance was great. Service was excellent. The food was delicious and authentic. Affordable and packed with fresh flavors.

I'm in town visiting some friends so they took me here. They recommended the tuna poke which is just a large bowl of HIGH quality tuna. I ordered a bowl of sushi rice with it which I felt like was the thing to do. Amazing. Also tried the Shumai, they were excellent. Great service and staff. High quality. Cute, no frills place. Highly recommend.

Food is delicious. Hands down the best Japanese restaurant in Miami. The service can be kind of slow for non-sushi item. But it’s easily overlooked with the portion size and freshness of the food.

Amazing food experience! Fresh and tasty sushi made with love and at great price point which is not pricey. I felt lost with the variety of dishes in the menu. Rainbow roll and the one with eel are my top ones. If you are like me , the chef Larry is here to adapt any dish at your taste. I feel grateful for that. Akashi also has enough parking just on the back which is very important for me. Definitely highly recommended as best sushi in town 👌

First off I want to say that I absolutely love this restaurant. Definitely some of the best rolls in Miami. With that being said, I decided to try a few different dishes on my most recent visit. I ordered the Shrimp and Vegetable Tempura dinner which I felt was average and had a bit too much breading and not enough shrimp. I also ordered the vegetable Udon noodles which were again okay, but had too much cooking oil for my preference. My girlfriend had the Rainbow Roll which she was happy with. I think I will stick with the sushi rolls when I go back.

This place is good when ur on a budget. Cheap rolls and cheap rice. I like to try all the rolls they have, but my favorites are the Akashi Roll & Dragon roll. Get some chicken fried rice on the side too.

Really nice small place off of a main street. Menu has a wide variety of things so if you are not a sushi person you can come here too. We did straight sushi and sashimi. The Sashimi sampler which had White Tuna, Salmon, and regular Tuna. Very fresh and was very good. All of the rolls we had were very solid. The interesting thing was the spicy tuna, this was very different than other places. This looked to be a tuna roll cut up,and set on the plate with a spicy sauce on the top of it. I am not sure how I feel about it. It was not bad, it was just different from what is normally served at sushi places. Would definitely come back here again when in Miami. There are a lot of things I would like to try.

Omg Akashi is open for dine-in again! Where have I been? We went for a little sushi dinner the other night and our taste buds were so excited to meet Alex #2 after so long! Service was great, and we got lucky to be seated right away but it is a small place so if it's very busy or you have a large party you may have to wait. The fish tank in the back makes it for a very cool, cozy little date spot. All in all, we love Akashi and will absolutely be back again very soon!

I have missed Akashi! If you haven't been to Akashi before, it's time to go. I used to be a regular in college but haven't been in the area in years. I had to work in South Miami yesterday and immediately knew where I wanted to go for lunch. I started with a green salad drenched in delicious ginger dressing followed by the tuna tataki. The ponzu is so good and the tuna has a nice smoked flavor. It was mandatory that we order the staple Alex #2. This roll is delicious and I think the secret is Akashi's eel sauce. It's so good! We also shared the Sexy Mamma and the Dane #2. Everything was great and this definitely satisfied my Akashi craving.

I have been going to this restaurant since I was in high school, many years ago. They have consistent food at a reasonable price and have good service for both dine in and take out. During Covid, they had clothes the inside dining and prior to opening the restaurant inside the redid the layout and it came out great. The only downfall of the restaurant is you need to pay for street parking or in a designated parking lot across the way. My favorite order is the Alex number two roll Finley sliced with a side of eel sauce !

Came here for a quick bite and was so happy with the quality of the food. It tasted amazing and the waitress was very nice and helpful. It's not a fancy sushi place but it was clean and the food seemed very authentic.

The food was incredible, and the service was outstanding! I highly recommend this place--definitely a 10 out of 10! We got the gyoza, Alex #2 roll & sex mama roll!

Came in for a celebratory date night since a family friend was raving about this place and I was in the mood for sushi. We were seated very quickly in their quaint little dining room. When our friend said it was tiny I didn't think it was THIS tiny but it was cute! Our server tended to us very quickly and checked up on us throughout the night. We ordered the steamed pork gyozas as a starter and they were delicious a great way to start the meal. They were perfectly steamed and well portioned. For the rolls we ordered their ebi-ten roll and the sexy mama roll to share. It was my boyfriend's FIRST time trying sushi and he enjoyed it! My personal favorite was the ebi-ten roll as I'm not a big fan of the cream cheese in the sexy mama roll. However, both rolls still tasted very good while their structural integrity was a little questionable lol. We also ordered their chicken fried rice to share that came in a small bowl which we didn't think would be enough. The one thing I've learned about sushi is those little bites catch up to you... Akashi is a great place to have a casual lunch/dinner with friends or for a little date night like how we did. The portions are great and you will definitely leave there with a full belly & a happy heart.

Love Akashi - it's one of my favorite sushi places in Miami. I like the Dragon roll and any of the other crispy rolls such as the shrimp tempura. The spot is cozy at a corner of US1. Parking is paid street parking or at the nearby Sunset Garage

If I could give them a zero I would! I recently did an order for a boat sushi. They make you give a $100 cash deposit which I was totally fine with. When I went to return it the following day, they told me they couldn't accept it because I threw away the aluminum foil that held the sushi. I was NEVER told to make sure to save that part. I'm sure this is not the first time and that why they ask for cash. Horrible place!!!!!

We just did a quick takeout option. We went to pick up our three rolls and soups after about twenty minutes, so not a bad wait time at all. Overall I would say the sushi was pretty good, but not above average. I got the Holt Roll with no avocado, and I thought that the fish was of good quality and pretty fresh. I also ordered a side of eel sauce and liked mixing it with the roll and the soy sauce. At the end of the day, just a simple roll with most of the flavor coming from the sauces. The other two rolls had shrimp tempura in it, and it felt like it wasn't very fresh. The crunchy outside wasn't crunchy anymore, as if they were fried earlier in the day and left to be rolled later. The miso soup was a little bit below average in my opinion simply because of the ratio. They came in a large container that had a lot of soup, but not all that much seaweed and the tofu piece were very small. Overall, not bad but not great sushi. I did find the prices a little bit more affordable than other places around which was a slight perk.

Green salad, udon noodles, chicken fried rice, sushi rolls AND service was a 10/10! Perfect lighting and good music. Food is always good at Akashi. Highly recommend.

This is the best sushi place in Miami. Every visit has always been great. I'm glad that they finally opened up to dine in and came today for the 1st time in a while. Service is always great, I can't say I've experienced what some previous customers have, I hope you can come back and have a better experience. I visited here prior to it getting remodeled and looking the way it does now. The food is always fresh, reasonably priced compared to other sushi places that markup their rolls and charge for sitting there. Parking is a little challenging at times depending on when you arrive, and it would have been nice for some background music. My favorite roll are hands down the salmon tempura, nothing like fried salmon covered in eel sauce. The Dane #2 is packed with flavor and crunch and it's also a favorite every time. I look forward to coming here more often to eat in and enjoy amazing sushi.

The best of the best. We've been going to Akashi for 28 years, and we live all the way in Miami Lakes. We love Akashi and still the best sushi, best service, and best staff.

This is one of the best sushi restaurants in Miami. I love the availability of specialty rolls, and you may also have editing features. For example, you can order riceless rolls and also add a multitude of extras; allowing you to personalize your own roll. Another great option is that you can order on Uber. I usually order online because parking can be an issue.

I'm not going to lie I was hungry and needed to find a quick place to eat near by and stumbled upon this spot. The menu offers a lot of rolls but strangely no lunch special. The rolls are pretty pricey but will say that it was tasting very fresh. So while the ambience wasn't ideally what I normally go for the food was actually really good just semi pricey for that kind of spot. The service was also really good so I do have to compliment the waitress for getting us in and out since I was in a hurry .

Probably one of the best sushi spots in South Miami. No matter if eating in or getting takeout, the sushi is always fresh and tasty. Good quality and quantity of fish for the price. Best roll- holt roll. You get your three colored fishes, avocado, and sweet crab salad. Very satisfying.

I dunno man this place is so good. It looks like a sad dive bar mid afternoon but they serve the best sushi for the best price. The service is pretty good too and they are very friendly there. It's not as clean as it can be, but for being understaffed they manage. It's and kinda like your neighborhood sushi spot that you run into all your old friends at. I would order here over any place in south miami that's all fancy and over done, it's way more worth it.

Located in South Miami, this restaurant has been serving up delicious sushi and other Japanese dishes for over 20 years. WOW!!! and I finally made it. The atmosphere at Akashi Sushi is warm and inviting. The walls are decorated with Japanese artwork, and the music is always playing at a lively volume. The menu at Akashi Sushi is extensive, with something to please everyone. There are a variety of sushi rolls to choose from, as well as other Japanese dishes, such as sashimi, tempura, and udon. The sushi is all made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and it's always prepared to perfection. In addition to sushi, Akashi Sushi also has a great selection of sake, I loved the one I chose thanks to the help of our waiter. Parking is limited.

I have been ordering from Akashi since I lived in Brickell for many years. I moved back to Kendall and started ordering from the Akashi in South Miami. I was in the mood for sushi last night so I placed an order. Can I say disgusting!!! I don't know who prepared these rolls but it was an amateur at best. The rice was a sticky mess, the filling was so disgusting I can't even explain. Seems as if they gave me old discarded ingredients, the shrimp was old chewy/rubbery and avocado was brown. I couldn't even separate the rolls with the chop sticks....Yes....it was disgusting!!! But it doesn't stop there. In the past Akashi always had great presentations and well packaged.... Well, let me just say it looked as if a three year old plated my rolls, you will see in the pics. I called the restaurant and left a message....no one has called me. Needless to say, I requested a refund but unfortunately Uber eats didn't refund tip and all fees charges. So I'm out about $15. Will never order from there again.

Food was ok, but not much to talk about, just average. Service was not good at all. There wasn't a commitment to the customer, and as for the ambiance, it didn't make me feel like I was eating at a sushi restaurant. Overall, we would not return when there are much better restaurants less than a black away.

This has been my go-to sushi spot for years! The rolls are delicious and not overpriced. It also has a nice, no frills atmosphere good for a quick lunch or even a date night.

Not So hidden gem in South Miami... This place has been in South Miami....forever practically. And I know that it will, because this has got to be one of the best Sushi places we've ever been to. It's deceptive, because it's not a HUGE restaurant...but inside the place it packs a good menu that does not disappoint. I don't know who "Alex" was/is that they named a roll after this person...but THANK YOU. Another roll I can especially recommend is the Dynamite roll ...it didn't need any "dressing up"... Parking is not so easy...so a lot of folks come and take out. And I can't blame them...

First of I'd like to say how I have passed by this place since I was a little girl and I finally got to try it out WOAH food is amazing very relaxing ambiance perfect for days nights!! Can't forget the service was great!

Good Japanese restaurant located on south Dixie Highway Miami. From the outside it looks like a hole in the wall restaurant, but the food packs a huge taste. They have a huge fish tank decoration inside the restaurant, a huge menu, cool sushi & light Japanese fare. The go to roll is the ALEX #2 containing shrimp tempura, krab salad, cream cheese, topped with avocado, spicy Mayo, eel sauce and crunch. The gyoza's are amazing as well ( perfectly seasoned and cooked ) and well worth it. The staff is nice and for the most part service is quick. Parking pay for parking, and its tough to get parking in front of the restaurant but there's plenty of parking around the area, or simply go inside sunset place parking garage for more parking availability. Well recommended! .....

As of March, AKASHI in South Miami is again open for Dine-In. Food and Service is still great.

Can u guys pick up the phone EVER? Sushi is good but we've been waiting for our delivery for TWO HOURS and have been on hold for 17 minutes until I gave up!

I always come here. It's always reasonably priced and good sushi. I got the dragon roll and the sunset roll, in addition to sashimi, with a glass of Pinot Grigio. Loved it all. Always my go to. Everywhere else is super overpriced and not worth it.

I went the other day because it's right across the street from my job. I walked in and it's empty. I had to wait a few minutes for someone to come and even sit me down. I ordered a Stella and the bottle itself was DIRTY. Like something had been spilled on. The menus were also dirty. Another person had walked in and even they weren't impressed with anything and walked out when they saw the dirty menus. Needless to say, I will not be coming back here ever again.

The best hole in the wall for sushi. They have top quality sushi, their fried rice is DIVINE and whatever protein you choose they will put large amounts of it in the meal. They have been around for 20+ years for a reason. Highly recommend.

So disappointed with Postmates delivery from Akashi. The rule that I ordered Alex roll look nothing like it did on the pictures. The rules are super tiny I took a picture comparing it to a spoon so that you can see the difference. I get better sushi at a better price from Publix this is not what I expected from the Coshey at all. In addition they forgot the extra sauce that I ordered and included no wasabi. I ordered a soup and it didn't come with a spoon either. The California roll was OK, the miso soup was fine and the edamame came with no salt. Just overall super disappointed I expected more from this establishment.

Akashi in South Miami is one of those small local staples of the community that you just can't go wrong with to satisfy your sushi/Japanese cravings. My best friend introduced me to Akashi as the birthplace of her obsession with sushi, and I totally understand why now. The first time I visited Akashi, I order the Alex #2 roll which received raving in-person reviews from both the server of our table and the folks at a table next to us. Their house sake is really delicious and pairs well with their traditional Japanese beers when you order a sake bomb. They also have an extensive selection of beverages both alcoholic and non. I haven't sampled many of heir appetizers but their rangoons are decent. The chicken and shrimp fried rice is amazing, especially when it's fresh - you can tell the difference when it's not but either way it's still delicious. I usually order a side of fried rice with a roll and leave entirely satisfied. Recently I fell in love with the Mariano roll. It's like the much hotter brother of the Alex #2 in that it's made the exact same way as the Alex #2, but topped with baked salmon instead of the extra avocado. Uff. So good. I'm pretty sure I'll always be a fan of Akashi and I hope that they don't shut down any other locations after learning that the location in Coconut Grove recently closed.

You walk in and it smells like a bathroom. The worst part is when you walk in they'll be eye contact from employees but no one will greet you or offer to assist. We waited 10min before we left. It was 1:35pm.

the sushi went down so much. I used to love the food there, now all i can I say is that its edible. The service was ok. No ambiance whatsoever no wonder we were the only people there.

Akashi was one of the first places I tried sushi in Miami. In my opinion it is worth a visit just to try the Alex #2 Roll. Truth be told, I don't really get anything else from here. Every time I have, I've wished I ordered the Alex #2. This roll is what keeps me coming back to Akashi. It has shrimp tempura, krab salad, masago, and cream cheese. BUT THEN they top it with Avocado, spicy mayo, eel sauce and SO MUCH CRUNCHIES!!!! Typically I don't like sushi that doesn't feature raw fish, but I will change my habits for the Alex #2. It is a huge roll, and super filling. I also like the mermaid roll and the night & day roll and the tuna tataki. This restaurant is modern inside with limited seating, but if you don't want to wait for a table you can post up at the sushi bar!

Akashi has good sushi and located near a large mall. Normal sushi prices. Free parking is very limited but there are paid spots nearby. Tried a few different rolls, the tempura, and some gyoza. Tried the rainbow roll = pretty standard Tried the Philly roll = large pieces, good taste Tried 1 other roll, can't remember the name, but it was cool looking. Good food, good taste, nice service. Fast with to go orders.

Always a great roll with quick pick up times. I like the rice less rolls but all of them have been great. They are only doing pick up or delivery, but back when they would have eat-in, I enjoyed the lunch bento boxes.

Last night we placed an order through Postmates Octopus salad was great The other two rolls and Mori Awase looked like something from a sushi buffet. The fish, especially the tuna, had no color, almost pink and we didn't even eat it. Not worth it especially for the price. Would not go back

Terrible service. Came in at lunch time, no hostess, had to go up to the people at the counter to ask if we could sit. No one came to our table. We were the only people there.

Akashi is my favorite sushi restaurant in Miami. Five of us went last night for dinner & ordered: Chicken katsu appetizer Chicken fried rice Kanisu Ebi Ten roll Sexy Mama roll Dragon roll Alex 2 roll Plus two other rolls that my son (something with eel on top) and my daughter's boyfriend ordered. Everything was delicious & the food was amazing! We didn't even have room for dessert and I love tempura ice cream! The only drawback is parking. I had to keep driving around the lot across the street until someone left. The problem was that several cars were also driving around the same tiny parking lot trying to get a spot.

Huge menu of options but stick with the sushi. Mariano roll is an amazing grilled salmon over a tempura shrimp, crab salad and cream cheese. Holt roll is a delicious combo without rice -- salmon, tuna, avocado. Tara's tuna is over a crunchy crispy rice. Love the Kani su and especially that they keep the vinegar separate on delivery so the cucumber stays crisp. Mermaid roll is fun with a perky seaweed salad on top. Everything sushi is great quality. Teriyaki, fried rice dishes are ordinary. Good prices. Great neighborhood place.

Today my husband and I placed our first order of delivery/takeout since the lockdown started I don't even know how many days ago... sushi was on my top things I miss the most. I had concerns about ingredient freshness and the obvious. But the salmon sashimi from Akashi, as always, was excellent quality. The Holt was a solid choice for someone (like me) looking for a rice less roll and the Bagel Roll, such a simple, complete treat. Even the rice was JUST RIGHT. And as I have already mentioned, the Salmon Sashimi appetizer... no words--especially if you're a sucker for raw salmon like me (they have the "dinner" version too that comes with rice and soup and will satisfy all your salmon cravings). Thank you Akashi. I've never gotten so emotional about sushi before.

I pass Akashi almost every day on US-1, and today I finally tried it with a friend because we were both in the mood for sushi. This restaurant had been recommended by a few friends and it's very close to me, so we went there for lunch. First of all, there's no restaurant parking lot. It's pay by phone to park in a public parking lot in the back. We walk inside and feel way too enclosed. It's kind of dark inside, illuminated with only artificial lights, and there's no windows. It's a pretty small place too, which doesn't help the "closed in feeling." One Yelper put it very well; they described it as a "windowless tube" and I think that was exactly spot on. The menu was extensive and had a lot of different options that looked quite good. Prices were normal for a Miami sushi restaurant: not cheap, but not really expensive either. The service was average. The waitress was friendly, but lacked a sense of when to check in on us, and left us waiting for a little too long at times. My friend ordered chicken and shrimp fried rice to start ($7.50 for a small bowl) and then a Spicy Tuna roll ($7.00) and I got the South Miami roll ($11.00). Once again, it was average. My roll (including the fish) was almost warm, which I didn't like. I would've preferred it on the cooler side or even room temp. My friend's spicy tuna roll was pretty good and had some sort of bbq sauce on top; different from usual spicy tuna rolls, but still good nonetheless. I asked for a side of spicy mayo, which is generally free. However, Akashi charges extra for it; not much ($0.50) but it was still kind of off putting after everything else about the restaurant. Overall, I wouldn't go back to Akashi personally because I think there are far better sushi restaurants in Miami, especially with better restaurant layouts and ambience. Some people like it, but I kindly disagree. I even tagged along with friends who had never been and wanted to try it, and I didn't order anything. But at the end of the meal, they said they didn't like Akashi either. Therefore, I don't think I wouldn't recommend it.

I got takeout tonight, I live right on the road and I have loved this place forever. The food is really good but I think this is gonna be the last time I get food from here. I understand the whole inflation thing, but goddamn, everything is an extra charge.. I got a roll without rice, extra charge. I'm pretty sure their prices have gone up, and they haven't change the menu prices. My tab just don't add up for what I ordered looking straight at the menu. I got food from here a few weeks back, and the staff was very rude when I picked up as well. It's sad, because the food is great but it's hard to give my money to a place that isn't nice to their customers, or wants to charge for every little thing.

Quite the little gem in South Miami when it comes to Sushi. They are quick when it comes to service its like they want you in and out. Which when it comes to food I just want to eat and go so I love this place. The sushi is always on point. We had the Dragon roll and the JB Tempura both were amazing and perfect. The Thai doughnuts were so good that we ate them all even though we were stuffed. My only issue with this place is for some reason it always seems very loud to me. Other than that it's all good and I will be back. Thanks Akashi!

The 120 min wait was worth it. And yes, they are that popular and busy that their Postmates delivery times are sky high but F IT! My coworkers and I were craving sushi and wanted to to try somewhere new so Akashi came to mind. The sushi rolls was beyond fresh and so delicious! And that Tuna Tataki, ufffffff so freaking tender! Huge fan of their rolls. All delicious. Great variety. The fried rice was ehhhhh, kind of bland if you asked me. And the shrimp was over cooked. Besides that, great experience, except for the wait! Does it really take 120 minutes to put together a couple of rolls?? Doubt it. Mind you I placed the order prior to it being 12 PM, so prime lunch hour, but by the time the food got to us it was wayyyyy past that. Please work on your delivery service! I loved you guys.

This was uber eats run. The children loved the food. We were in the mood for sushi too. So they didn't complain one bit. This was an absolute success. Ordering from here once again...
