AKELARRE TABERNA

THIS IS THE TYPE OF PLACE I LIKE! The food was great, fish was very very fresh, portions were huge and the prices were low. The staff were super attendant and helpfull. This is not fine dining, but it is a great restaurant. 11/10. Btw the menu is way bigger than what you can see on google. We spend 25 pr person and got extremely full.

Nice and friendly local restaurant. Our waitress spoke good English and even provided a menu in English. Be prepared for large portions here. We just had a main course each: the escalope of veal and the hake in a green sauce. Both were OK, although the green sauce wasn't special. Nice rioja wine to wash it down!

I am disappointed! Went there based on reviews and wandered after who writes them. It was true that the service is timely and adequate, but the food…. Is a different story. I ordered a tuna steak in salsa as suggested by server and supposed to be done with local flavor. What I’ve got was a dry large peace of tuna covered with unpalatable tomato paste from the can. Unacceptable!

This is the place for foodies and hungry people. You’re hungry and looking for some cheap quick grub? Go here. You’re a foodie and need a reminder of what bad food is? This your place. The 15 Euros you pay for a 1st course, 2nd course, dessert, bread, wine and coffee is worth the (re) education. A big plus for the surprisingly efficient and pleasant service, and the authentic atmosphere.

The food in general was good, we liked it. Except the escalope could be better. Service was long.

Ok find for Vegetable Lasagne 7.5/10, Hake 7.5/10, Tuna Steak 7/10 (If less bones rating would be higher). Entrecote Steak 7/10. Lunch starts at 1pm onwards.

If you want to eat seafood - that’s fine. But meat?… just avoid it… some dishes got nothing in common with it’s name - ie schnitzel. Definitely NOT

Great place for good lunch in the nice town of bermeo. It's in a close walking distance from fishing Harbour. Recommended!
