"Look for the entrance to this sleek, stylish basement restaurant next to the Embassy Hotel, and once inside, grab a cocktail from the bar running along one side of the room. Every table has a view of the open kitchen; watch the chefs as they carefully prepare Asian-inspired – mostly Japanese – dishes. Salmon tiradito and scallop roll are the favourite choices from our inspectors." - Michelin Inspector

New Restaurants added to The MICHELIN Guide Malta 2022

"The entrance to this sleek and stylish basement restaurant is located in the heart of Valletta. Linger awhile at the bar to try one of their unique cocktails, before moving through to the restaurant, where every table has a full view of the kitchen in action. The focus of the menu is Japanese cuisine, with a comprehensive selection of sushi and small plates alongside some tacos and crudo; dishes like miso cauliflower or glazed pork belly cooked over the robata grill; and signature dishes like beef short rib rendang or miso black cod: all carefully prepared and with strong flavours. Desserts have more of a western edge but are well worth saving room for, there’s an extensive wine list to accompany your food, and service comes with a smile. Those in a hurry or on a budget should take advantage of the weekday set lunch menu which comes in at less than €20." - The MICHELIN Guide UK Editorial Team

The ambiance here is fantastic! It’s the perfect spot for a romantic dinner date. And if you’re in the mood for an outing, they have a great selection of sushi on the menu. The food is cooked to perfection, and the staff is friendly. However, they could improve their attention to detail when serving customers. Overall, I highly recommend this place when you’re in Malta.

Disappointing Service for a Fine Dining Experience The food was quite good and authentic, the service was far from satisfactory. For a fine dining establishment, the service felt indifferent and impersonal—much colder than what you’d expect even from smaller restaurants. The staff seemed to rush through every interaction as if fulfilling a routine rather than offering genuine hospitality. To our surprise, there was no “thank you” after we paid, nor did anyone acknowledge us when we left the restaurant. Moreover, the design of the set menu was poorly thought out. We ordered the set menu for each of us, but it wasn’t made clear that the dishes would be shared. Instead of each person receiving individual portions, all items were served on shared plates. While this was manageable for some dishes, it became problematic later in the meal. For example, there was only one bowl of rice to accompany the steak, and the dessert consisted of just one single scoop of ice cream to be shared between two people. This left us feeling dissatisfied and disappointed. Overall, while the food met expectations, the service and menu design fell short of what one would expect from a restaurant at this price point.

The interior is very cool, stylish designed. soothing chillout background music, friendly staff, a very well stocked bar and of course an extremely good kitchen bringing out servings presented creatively. Their long open kitchen where all the movements can be observed, tell their own stories of the quality served. A must in Malta.

Ate here twice while visiting Valletta. Both times the food was excellent. The service on the second visit was very slow which was strange as we were the only ones dining at the time. That aside the food lived up to expectations. Super fresh, tasty and well prepared.

We came for the cocktails and they did not disappoint. We didn’t even pick off the menu, the bartender asked us what we liked sweet of sour etc and he made something for us. He was very friendly and very knowledgeable. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area.

This is overly rated, overly priced and underwhelming! Don’t waste your money; just walk in for the aesthetic and nice pictures but don’t bother. Had the sushi which was basic at best, the oysters were terrible and the cocktails were mid at best. Looks better than it tastes!

No words to describe the experience we had at this restaurant. We made a reservation here for my birthday dinner and I was not disappointed at all. We tried a bit of everything because we couldn’t get enough of the amazing flavors. The drinks were exceptional, the food as well and the service impeccable. Would definitely come back here if we are ever in Malta again. Couldn’t have picked a better restaurant for my birthday dinner. 10/10, thank you😊

The booking experience and seating arrangements were done perfectly. We got a waiter that was perhaps new as he did not know the menu well. My friend ordered the signature set menu and I asked just 3 pieces. The menu was mediocre and I cannot comment much as I have only tasted a main: duck- noting to impress me and as well some crème brûlée which was ok. I ordered volcano - set of maki soaked in mayo, buns with soft crab ( the waiter understood chicken… so i had to ask again) which had a taste less bun and medium crab, oysters which were good but very small either way 2 cm of asparagus. The highlight of my day was in fact the chicken in sweet sauce which tested exactly like in my foodcourt mall where I pay 5 euro for 3 times the amount. The cocktails were fancy but expensive. My friend asked me to mention that the one he had was difficult to drink from the small glass. All in all not impressed at all. Blend food, mayo, fries. The menu was 55 per person and I payed with 2 drinks 90. Crazy expensive for the quality
