The Best Sushi Restaurants in DFW

"There’s a lot of flash on the menu at this spot from Michelin-star recognized chef Akra Back, and that makes it one of the most fun sushi experiences in the Metroplex. In addition to trying the traditional sushi, don’t miss Back’s tuna pizza and the AB Tacos with tuna tar tar. If you’re unsure what to order, the mystery box is a fun experience." - Courtney E. What an amazing experience! We were walking by the restaurant, decided to stop by and see the menu, and ended up having one of the best Japanese meals of our life. Helvio the general manager was the nicest person ever, treated us so well, we will get back there many times just for him, he gave the BEST suggestions for dishes, we tried all the ones that he suggested and loved them all! Matthew the director of food and beverages, treated us the best, what a team! The server suggested the best white Portuguese wine, thank you! We already shared this restaurant with several of our friends, and will go back many times.

We’ve eaten here multiple times over the past few years and every single time they’ve been nothing short of amazing. They’re not a typical family friendly restaurant, but we did make an early evening reservation for my husband’s birthday dinner with our 2.5yr old daughter in tow. Our server was fabulous with her and made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. Aside from that- the level of cuisine you get here is what really keeps bringing us back. From the presentation to the taste ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Fantastic experience. We were here for a work dinner and every plate looked like a piece of art. Things just melted. The Baked Crab Roll and Perfect Storm were good. Truffle Bomb is an experience. I tried my first tuna and sea urchin. Gosh, it's one thing to eat food but this one is called relishing. A must to try in Delray. Reservation is recommended

The food was really good Akira. The staff were lovely. My waiter made very good recommendations and he was so patient and friendly. I will definitely be back. I also loved the entire setting. The ambience was great and prices are decent. Another gem in Delray Beach

We stumbled upon this Japanese gem while walking by, and it ended up being one of the best dining experiences of our lives! We were treated like royalty by the incredible team, led by Helvio, the general manager, who was warm, welcoming, and offered the BEST suggestions for dishes. We took his recommendations and loved every single one! Matthew, the director of food and beverages, was also top-notch. Our server paired the meal with an amazing, unique wine - a special selection curated by Helvio. We recently returned with a couple of friends, and the experience was even better - NEXT LEVEL! The team's consistency and dedication to excellence are truly impressive. We'll be back many times, not just for the incredible food, but for the exceptional service and hospitality. If you're looking for an unforgettable Japanese dining experience, look no further!

Google
Atlantic Avenue has stiff restaurant competition, so e proceeded with caution when heading the The Ray Hotel's resident Asian cuisine spot with the founding chef's namesake. Skip the suspense....Akira Back will have us back. All aspects kicked butt. Service was spot on, with shout outs to Mike the manager, Connor our server, and Ellie who was passionate about her presentations. There were no bad dishes. All the rolls were tasty (hot mess and protein rolls were exceptional). Everything is served as it is ready and in small portions, so order early and often. Great space, great food, great cocktails!

Google
One of the worst places for this price range. Very poor quality. We was trying to find restaurant around Boca area. Server never came to the table, we was out of soy sauce, drinks has to wait 30 minutes, they forgot one of the sushi we ordered. Only one thing that was actually tasty tuna pizza. If you want good sushi just go to Miami, don’t waste your time here. And then people forgot to cut sushi corners it’s definitely flag. Plus it was mentioned in the reservation about birthday.

Google
My husband and I were really looking forward to trying Akira Back, but unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to our expectations. As soon as we walked in, the hostess immediately told us we needed to be out by 8 PM because they had to close the patio due to rain — which, for the record, never happened. That kind of greeting really set the tone, and not in a good way. For a restaurant of this caliber, we expected a higher level of service and hospitality. The food was good, but not exceptional. Definitely not the standout we hoped for. The drinks and dessert were the highlight — creative, well-executed, and honestly the most enjoyable part of the meal. It was a fun place to try once, but not sure we’d rush back.

Yelp
Akira is in London, Dubai, Istanbul, Paris, Tokyo, Vegas, Taipei, Beverly Hills, Tenerife, Riyadh, Toronto, San Diego, Singapore, Istanbul, Doha, Marrakech, Bangkok, Jakarta, Orlando, Seoul, and now south Florida! The restaurant is in the Ray Hotel with an impressive door that can't be missed. The artwork inside & artwork designed on the plates was created by Back's mother. Although there is street parking there is a valet. The Japanese menu includes Korean focused options. The sushi rolls, salads, sashimi, Wagyu steaks, fried rice, appetizers, and entrées are mouthwatering. Prices are steep, reviews are stellar & this is our first local restaurant that attained a Michelin star. Akira Back was born in Seoul and raised in Aspen, Colorado, which led him to the professional snowboarding circuit where he appeared in a handful of extreme sports movies. He began working at a local Japanese restaurant to supplement his income & realized he felt the same thrill in the kitchen. His world, renowned restaurants, combine his passions for adventure, travel & culinary exploration. Now Akira just needs to write a cookbook so I can try to copy some of his delicious recipes at home. We valeted our car and went into the beautiful restaurant. Savannah was our waitress and she explained the whole menu. We started with an Akira Back tuna pizza with Unami aioli, Shiso & white truffle oil. We then shared a hot mess signature role with crab tempura, sashimi poke, and spicy Ponzo. We shared the creamy spinach salad with roasted sesame dressing and rayu, lamb chops with smoked jalapeño miso, and brussels sprouts Kamichi glazed. Three hours later we finished off the evening with AB cigar, which contains Japanese whiskey ice cream over a chocolate brownie with cocoa served like a cigar in an ashtray. Friends ordered, spectacular courses, beautiful dishes, and they devoured every bite. I can't wait to come back again.

Yelp
First off, Service, ambiance, presentation, 10/10. All those aspects were perfect and couldn't have asked for any better. The food however, not my favorite. I have eaten at many high end sushi/ omakase restaurants and I am sad to say this one disappointed me. My favorite dish was the Flounder Carpaccio, unique flavors, fresh fish. Baked Crab Cut roll was also pretty good, good flavor. I found myself to be quite disappointed in Nazo 9, everything looked beautiful but the dressing on the fish was very mild, almost as if you were just eating plain sashimi. There was also a bone in one of the pieces. Hairy crab appetizer was not bad, not good for 75$ but decently tasty. Truffle bomb was okay, but my personal opinion was that the potato puree took away from the flavor of the amaebi and uni, tasted like fancy mashed potatoes. I have eaten a ton of high end sushi in all parts of the globe, just my personal preference - found majority of the food to be underwhelming taste wise, even though appeared to be hyped up by ingredients listed, give it a try if you're told it is very good by multiple people, just as I was. For me, not returning anytime soon. All in all this a good restaurant, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. There are always high expectations at restaurants with price points at this level.

Yelp
This was, hands down, one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had--and not because of the food (which I wouldn't know, since we never even got to order). I had an 8:30 PM reservation and arrived on time. The restaurant was packed, mostly with large parties, but that's no excuse for what happened next. We were seated promptly, but that was the only part of the experience that went smoothly. After sitting for 15 minutes without so much as a greeting from a server, the busboy--the busboy!--was the only one kind enough to notice us and bring water. Meanwhile, our actual server made eye contact with me four separate times and still ignored us. By 8:16, we had enough and walked out. And here's the kicker: as we left, the same young hosts who had seated us just 20 minutes earlier chirped, "Thanks for coming!" When I explained why we were leaving, they didn't seem to care. To top it all off, I'm pretty sure the host canceled my OpenTable reservation after the fact to prevent me from leaving a review. Well, here it is: Take your business elsewhere. This place clearly doesn't value its guests, and for the prices they charge, you deserve better. Do yourself a favor and head across the street to Lulu's, where you'll actually be greeted, served, and treated like a valued customer.

Yelp
Absolutely unreal. Couldn't recommend enough! Everything we ordered was so good and the service was great. Super attentive and gave great recommendations based on what we liked.

Yelp
Let's start by saying that this restaurant is a wow! Akira Back has restaurants all over the world. Savannah our waitress was on point about the items on the menu. If she said that it was spicy, it surely was. We started with their tuna pizza. We then shared their hot mess sushi that also was a wow! The lamb chops with smoked Japanese miso came highly recommended and after having it I understand why. For dessert we had their AB cigar which is Japanese whiskey ice cream over a chocolate brownie with cocoa served like a cigar in an ashtray. This is a great find. Pricy but worth it. We will be back.

Yelp
This place is always great. The food is fresh and a nice mix between raw and cooked food. The ambience is elegant although at times can get loud. The staff is well trained and knowledgeable in their menu. The fried rices are all great, the rolls are really tasty and dessert are above average. You really can't go wrong trying this place.

Yelp
A large party of 10 65th birthday atmosphere is very nice service great walked in greeted by receptionist sat us immediately Travis our waiter. Was more like a tour guide great knew everything about the menu and restaurant started salmon caper mini pizzas short rib rolls. Fish appetizers. Great wine menu and craft beer they were very attentive but not overkill Entrees were various sushi rolls , tender steak very eclectic. The food was the best sushi I've ever eaten anywhere in the world. Unique combinations. Flavors that explode with taste. There were so many dishes I can't name or remember everything we had but it was great Manager stopped bye very nice guy Desser. A surprise cake Yum espresso. You must try this place Expensive but worth it

Yelp
Great service, good recommendations of things to try, and excellent food. I'm not a big sushi either but the things I did eat were great. The King Crab, the dessert cigar, the snow rice sake, the crab fried rice all delicious. I will be returning!

Yelp
Food is still consistently amazing and the prices are also a bit high as the portions are tiny and felt even smaller on this visit. Perfect place for a special occasion. Restaurant is still a bit loud. The tartares are my favorite. The dessert cigar has been changed. I didn't enjoy it like the original one. The cigar paper was missing and the Icecream was different. Check my new photo with the old one. I Enjoyed my dinner.

Yelp
It was slow but atmosphere was cool. Gotta watch out for the weakest restaurant trick in the book. Busser asks if you want flat or sparkling water. They sneak in bottled water and wack you. Food was good but overall a rip.

Mike B.

Yelp
Shockingly tiny portion of main course at a very high prices. how is it possible to pay $45 for main course and leave restaurant hungry. It is not acceptable. in addition the service is not up to par - weightier forgot to bring appetizer. i brought my friends there and felt embarrassed. After leaving the restaurant, we went to my home to eat. the place is a total rip-off

Yelp
We made reservations and stopped by for dinner. The restaurant was very spacious and beautifully decorated. Our server was super sweet and walked us through the entire menu and shared recommendation on what to order. We loved the AB tuna pizza. It was delicious and the sea salt on top was the perfect touch. Overall, the food was delicious. We ordered 4-6 small plates and it was enough for our party of four. As the evening goes on, it can get a bit noisy in the restaurant. We arrived at 6pm and when we left at around 7:30pm, the restaurant was filled.

Yelp
The food and service were great. The ambiance was very nice and good for a date or hanging with friends. We tried a few rolls and everything tasted amazing!

Yelp
I wished I had raving reviews but I really had a mid experience. Service was kinda okay, had to request multiple times to have water. The food was nothing above the average and prices were very high for it.

Yelp
Awful experience. Terrible dry rice and got food poisoning after. Restaurant denied accountability bc I didn't complain at the restaurant. For the price, this place is a rip off.

Yelp
We came to Akira a year ago and we were excited to go back as we had a blast last time, unfortunately we were disappointed. Let's start by what's good: we had an outdoor table, great setting with cute plants and light, no loud music so you can enjoy a conversation. Service was quick and friendly. We got disappointed by the food. We had the Wagyu tomahawk which was a huge disappointment. The meat was flavorless. Definitely different from the first time we came. We had the Yuzu Citrus for desert, it was beautifully presented but boring otherwise. We had one main, one side, one drink and one desert ended up $200 for two, before tips. We only liked the side (Japanese mushroom). Needless to say it was a unsatisfactory diner.

Yelp
We reserved well in advance for an early evening celebration of our anniversary. We found parking for free on the street less then a block away. Immediately recognized and greeted upon entering restaurant. The ambiance was beautiful, nicely decorated and fun open atmosphere. Our waiter, Connor, exceptional! Made great recommendations and provided guidance on our selection of appetizers, course and dessert. Drinks were delicious, tuna pizza outstanding, grilled octopus very flavorful with 3 dipping sauces and yes, the main course of sliced Wagu meat with mushroom and sauce was an excellent recommendation. Desserts were right size and delicious. Outstanding Service by Connor and supporting staff, top notch food, we were fully satisfied.

Yelp
Came back to Akira Back with friends from France and the family. We had Rob as our server. He was a great fit for our table. He was personable, helpful, and efficient. The room is a bit loud, but we were able to hear each other on a large round table. We had a sushi pizza, which we ordered two more because everyone at the table loved it. We had the cow wow room, sashimi, power roll, a few others however I can't remember right now. Just know every dish was delicious! We had the ice cream cigar which was tasty. There were no simulated ashes this time though. Mochi was good and something fried with apple I think. I didn't have it, however everyone loved it too. If you haven't been, definitely go. You can walk off your meal around Delray when you are done. We went up to the bar up stairs after to check it out. It was a bit quiet, however a nice outdoor area to relax. Have a great time and Enjoy!

Yelp
They canceled on my birthday due to the weather, while my original visit is 8:30pm anyway. I asked if there is anything available even later, being told no. Really sad that you cancelled me was ok, but if I cancelled you in 2 hours I would be charged $25 per person. If you are not confident with the weather, why do you even bother to open patio? Sometime say sorry isn't enough for a Saturday night at 6pm telling someone is getting ready for a birthday dinner that your dinner is being cancelled. Good job Akira back.

Yelp
So this was my second time coming here. My first time I was blown away!! Our server Travis was amazing and the food was beyond delicious and fresh. With that being said here is my review for the second time, which was on my birthday / Valentine's Day. We sat outside and the weather was beautiful, the ambiance was beautiful and honestly was much more quiet and romantic than Indoors. Which we loved. Our server this time was Jordan. Who is extremely nice and has great customer service. With that being said, we first ordered unfiltered sake, the special lemon cups that are not on the menu and edamame. It took 30-40 minutes for the lemon cups to come out, when we placed the order, we told our server last time it came in orders of two or three and we did not recall. This time it came out with one piece, when he told us it would be three pieces. We completely understood the mistake as it's an off menu order, so no harm no foul on that mishap. When they divided them into 2 for us, we ate them and it was extremely fishy and missing the masago... which I did not realize til I ate it. This is not the first time we have had this dish, and not the first time we had it at this restaurant. I was shocked and will probably never order this here again. My 1st time here Travis mentioned they make the salmon roe in house, this time Jordan said he wasn't sure.. all in all, the roe was NOT fresh... I devoured our ginger to get that taste out of my mouth. We decided not to complain, and just move on. However, what really annoyed me was that we waited over an hour for the edamame to come out, and I had to remind our server about it twice. Again nice server, love his personality, we are all human and make mistakes, but I was very hungry... and drinking on an empty stomach.. (woke up in the morning with a headache because of that). We also ordered the tuna pizza, which was good, not my favorite but what I did like is that it has a little truffle oil on it. My favorite sashimi pizza (at sushi Jo in boynton and Japango in Delray which shut down) has more stuff on it (tomato, avocado, cilantro etc). But again this was good! Just more plain. We also ordered the hot mess roll, which was our favorite!! And we ordered the perfect storm that our Server recommended. I do NOT recommend the perfect storm. While I enjoy all of the ingredients inside of this roll, for some reason, it was very bitter and smoky. I am perfectly OK with the smoky flavor that I was not expecting, however, not the bitterness. The Server mentioned maybe it was the cilantro, however, both my husband and I love cilantro and we do not have that gene that makes it taste like soap.. We also ordered "fresh" kimchi, that did not taste fresh.. it tastes like what I buy at publix, which is good, don't get me wrong, but it was not freshly made... We ordered the cigar for dessert, which was my favorite , the Restaurant gifted us the mochi dessert for my birthday and our friends who's happened to be at another table sent us the special sweet potato dessert. Which was really nice and delicious. I mean they even sang and surrounding tables joined in. lol While I am really saddened with the quality of food we had, I'm hoping it was just an off day?? The restaurant did comp our lemon cups for their mishap (on how many came out, we did not tell them how it tasted overly fishy and not fresh and how it was missing masago). Comping those was nice of them, and they comped the perfect storm as that we did send back, I was not about to risk food poisoning from whatever was bitter in that roll. Akira back was my favorite sushi spot in PBC, so I hate that in writing this update... I went from 5 stars to 3.. As the quality definitely went down hill... I would now compare this like a typical chain... I also found out the Michelin star chef, rarely / never comes in anymore... or cooks.. which is what attracted us to this place initially. Still up in the air on if I'll be back or not. Praying it was just an off day? But the quality no longer validated their pricing Also they need more unfiltered saki options as there is only 3 options

Yelp
Very disappointed on Brunch experience and it's rather deceiving. I thought we were going up have an amazing selection as it states hosted by Akira Back. I had hoped that this would be a great introduction to the more prestigious omakase experience as it boasts a menu of Akira's greatest hits. It is far from that. Rosewater is a beautiful setting and the experience itself was really nice. Mimi our server was so wonderful and really allowed us to enjoy the experience. We were greeted with a complimentary cocktail that was good, but no one said they would want to drink it again. You get plenty of food, but honestly we were expecting higher quality, more intriguing flavors and would have sacrificed the huge bowl of edamame and cucumbers. Only two dishes stood out, the protein roll was a fan favorite with the salmon tataki second best. All the rest meh...not much flavor, too much rice, off balanced or drowning in sauce. Japanese food has always been delicate with subtle notes and perfect balance ... this was bland or heavy and clunky. Also they need to work on coordination in the kitchen, as some dishes arrived on top of one another, and others we waited quite awhile for. Edamame: drowning in too much kimchi butter California Roll: the most tasteless and boring California ever, and I LOVE California rolls. Throw some masago on it, flavor the rice and use a lot less of it! Hamachi Jalapeno: it was lost in all the flavorless rice. Pop Rockin: it has a tad more flavor but kinda lost again Veggie: big crunch but an insult to veggies as you did it no justice Salmon Tataki: second best dish Tuna Tacos: ok but no wow here Salmon Cones: salmon has a nice flavor but was not spicy, but that cone though cute was just eww tasting and texture was chewy as if stale instead of crisp. Cucumber: this dish needs to marinate...there was had no flavor whatsoever except for the pieces which sat in the marinade on the bottom. Carrots: I loved the carrots but the dish and flavors clashed with everything Rock Shrimp: death by drowning Pork Gyoza: the large amount of peas in the filling was odd Short Rib: our least favorite dish of all! Crispy Rice: the tuna got lost on the huge piece of rice drowned in sauce which took a good 4 minutes of chewing, i didn't think I'd ever get to swallowing it. For that price point, we could have went and had a truly memory dining experience elsewhere. Sadly I would not recommend the brunch.

Yelp
This place in phenomenal!!! Hands down one of my most favorite restaurants in Delray Beach. Have eaten here several times and both the food and service are excellent. The their sushi and steak both. Wonderful to take someone that also likes an extensive wine menu. The vibe is chill and dimly lit setting the tone for a romantic evening.

Yelp
Style over substance. Restaurant itself is beautiful. Service was excellent, with the hostess being very accommodating when I wanted to switch my patio reservation to indoor dining. Started off with drinks - just ok. The lychee martini was sour/bitter, which was a surprise as this is usually a sweet drink. The Winter Spice was interesting, good Smokey flavor. Spice level could have been upped. For food - all dishes were presented beautifully but overall we found them to be quite bland. The AB Tuna Tataki was by far the best thing we had. The tuna was tender and fresh, garnish was delicious. The grilled octopus was a disappointment. Octopus was tender but had none of the grilled/charred taste/texture that you would be accustomed to. It came with 2 different sauces, one of which was advertised as spicy. We didn't find it to be spicy at all. The potato is the standout part of the meal. But overall, even when you combine everything on the dish in one bite - you don't get much of a flavor. The last thing we tried was the perfect storm roll. Nothing special, ingredients were fresh but the flavor was again bland. Dessert - was hit and miss. The cigar had one of the best presentations I've ever seen. However the textures were off. The chocolate the ice cream is incased in is far too thick, and gets frozen by the ice cream. Instead of melting in the mouth you have to crunch it down. The ice cream itself gets lost in the chocolate. The Apple Harumaki however was excellent. Plated beautifully, the mix of textures was on point. The vanilla gelato and apples were delicious. Overall, I think this restaurant is good to visit once for an experience, but it's not something I would be tempted to return to again. One thing I found interesting was that the server advertised all dishes as great to share but the portions are quite small so it would only really be shareable for two people max. If the price point was more affordable, I'd probably be a little less harsh with my criticism, but as it stands it advertises itself as high end so I believe it requires a thorough review.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place since it opened . I brought a friend last night after another server at Lionfish recommended the spot and had rave reviews and he didnt disappoint . Everything was top notch and you can tell they only use the top of the top tier ingredients to make each dish with their own little flare . Dishes come out as prepared so it is recommended to share plates ! I love how you can order so much and not feel so bloated afterwards . This makes you feel light but satisfied! We truly enjoyed every bite of each entire but the AB Tuna dish was our favorite for sure . We both said we would have ordered 3 more plates of that! Highly recommend ! Perfect date night spot for a well quality meal!

Yelp
Our favorite place to eat. We go here to have the best food and service. The ambiance is beautiful and relaxing. We always want to try new things but always have our favorites. Everything is delicious!

Yelp
Food -- a bit pretentious to be honest but for the price point it was on par with what you would expect. I think the main menu tries a bit too hard to be a hipster version of nobu. Nevertheless, we enjoyed everything on the menu. Service -- nothing special but nothing to complain about Ambiance -- a bit of older crowd as you would expect at this price point.

Yelp
To start my server was great and I give him a 10/10. The food on the other hand was DISGUSTING and gave me food poisoning I was sick directly after eating at this terrible place. I wish I took pictures of the dirty spoons with smutz all over them multiple utensils were FILTHY!!! WILL NEVER BE BACK!

Yelp
Our first visit! 9:30 reservations on Friday night with another couple. Place was packed! Consider yourself fortunate if Connor is your server. Attentive, very knowledgeable and passionate. We hit the jackpot with him (and no we did not know him!) entire staff from hostess to food runners - all exceptional Delicious cocktails (my Lychee martini was delicious!). We ordered 8 different items (shareable) and thank goodness we ordered 2 of the signature Tuna pizza because I ate at least 6 slices! My personal favorite. All our choices were exceptional - from octopus to black cod and you must save room for dessert. 4 different desserts & each one so unique. Carbs & sugar took center stage & I didn't care. The chocolate-in-a-cup was my fave. Their pastry chef (female) is my idol. Valet at The Ray hotel is $25 and Akira validates $5 so look for street parking which we did & found it for free less than a 30 second walk. Truly a memorable evening.

Yelp
Atmosphere was great as usual. We ordered the $160.00 Tomahawk Wagyu steak and other various items. Sushi was good, Wagyu tacos were delicious as usual. The steak we asked for medium and it came out medium rare and was very chewy. Can't say I would recommend it until they learn how to properly cook the steak to order. The cigar dessert was delicious as usual. Service was excellent. Three stars is because of the undercooked steak.

Yelp
I dropped in without a reso at 5pm and was first to sit outside. It's such a cute little patio, feels secluded yet in the middle of all things happening. Savannah was an all star server - I got the Geisha cocktail with vodka because of her and she didn't steer me wrong (I told her what I was in the mood for and she nailed it). The perfect storm roll was a splash of unexpected spice that you get used to bc the pieces just dissolve in your mouth and it tastes phenomenal. The tuna nigiri was just as good and easy to eat! I dropped in for a "hold me till dinner at 9pm bite" but I clearly would love to return for an "try everything on the menu" meal.

Sandi K.

Yelp
I have left 3 messages for Akira Back regarding the massive overcharge they made to my credit card and I have not received a call back. I explained about the overcharge in my messages and can't believe they have not responded. Makes me think it was purposeful...otherwise, they would have done everything to correct the problem. BEWARE if you go to Akira Back and charge your meal on a credit card.

Yelp
Akira Back opened its doors at The Ray Hotel on March 2022. Akira Back features a custom menu composed of modern Japanese fare. Las Vegas chef Akira Back has 22 cutting edge locations and has been awarded a Michelin Star. After you taste this menu, you will understand why! For restaurant month, guest are able to participate in a 9 course tasting menu. Everything was absolutely amazing! The presentation was gorgeous and the service was outstanding. The AB Tuna Pizza with Umami Aioli, Micro Shiso, White Truffle Oil was my favorite. Second favorite was the Grilled Octopus: Potato, Salsa Verde, Chipotle Miso. The Salmon Tiradito was so also fresh and very unique. Sushi rolls were filling and very creative! The Jidori Chicken and short ribs were delicious but next time, I would go for all seafood! Add this new restaurant to your special occasion hit list! My husband and I had the most amazing dining experience and were there for almost 2 hours! Charles made us feel like family and we had a blast.

I drove an hour to this restaurant and it was worth it. The food is so flavorful. I had there eel roll, Wagyu, fried rice, cow wow roll and tuna pizza. The service was okay and my only complaint would be is that their music is always too loud.

Yelp
Our go to place for a Five Star experience. Whenever we have out of town guests, we always take them to Akira Back for amazing food, atmosphere and a guaranteed great evening! The finast most unique restaurant in the city.

Yelp
I came here out of luck for my birthday. I had such an amazing experience. Travis was my waiter. He explained everything perfectly. Had the A5 Wago creamy. Spinach salad eggplant appetizer everything was spot on exactly how we explained it. I am definitely coming back.

Yelp
WORTH READING My husband and I had a highly disappointing experience at Akira Back tonight that it's worth mentioning. It was entirely due to the handling of the seating arrangements by the manager. My husband and I had a reservation, but due to the rain, the restaurant was clearly trying to cram as many guests as possible into the limited space at the bar. We were asked to move from a three-seat station to a four-seat station, which was squeezed uncomfortably against a cash register. To make matters worse, we were told to make space for a regular Guest who did not have a reservation, which the manager mentioned that the guest had a "physical liability." I'm all for making reasonable accommodations however not once did the manager ask if we had any physical issues with the new arrangement--something that felt incredibly inconsiderate and tone-deaf. For the record I do have a physical disability so I am taking this seriously and personally. Not all disabilities are visible. A proffered gratis drink was pathetic at best for the inconvenience. What was even more frustrating is that, despite being loyal regulars who dine here 2-3 times a week when we're in Florida, spending an average of $400-$500 per visit, the manager seemed to prioritize the needs of a guest who was "a regular"--while treating us with complete disregard. The staff kept hovering uncomfortably close to us while welcoming the guest and talking loudly, adding to the feeling of being crammed into a space that was clearly too small for us. The manager should never have added the fourth bar stool to make this accommodation. In the end, the manager made a poor decision that it completely overshadowed our meal. In summary the meal was one appetizer and two drinks - $125--clearly a value less than what we've paid in the past. Given how much we typically spend here, it's safe to say that Akira Back has lost our business. We won't be returning unless this manager is no longer present.

Yelp
Place was recommended to us by someone who works here. Staff were very nice, food was also very good. Started raining where we were sitting outside and immediately brought everyone inside. Very good experience overall.

Yelp
All I can say is wow... We have been wanting to come to Akira Back for a while and we finally got the chance to. The ambiance feels like you're in New York. There's a lot of natural light with the windows but once it gets dark the restaurant transforms. The dim lighting enhances the environment. We order many dishes but the stand out ones were the truffle bomb (4piece), crab hand roll, and tuna pizza. The flavors were absolutely amazing. I can't wait to try everything on the menu. The thin crust on the tuna pizza is actually a handmade flour tortilla. It's so light and layered with flavor! To drink, we had the Tiger Lily. You could taste every ingredient. The front notes were wasabi but the after taste was ginger. For dessert, we had the chocolate in the cup. I wish I ordered one for myself. It tastes like a Ferraro Roche. Overall, the level of precision and gastronomy is so unique to the Delray area. You will definitely have an amazing experience. Come here open minded and with an appetite! You will need to order quite a bit of dishes to share. The service seemed a little off, maybe because it was Memorial Day. I was a little disappointed given the price point and prestige of the chef. I am looking forward to my next experience here. Hopefully better service.

Yelp
Really wonderful upscale Asian spot in Delray. This was some of the best sushi we've had in a while! I highly recommend the cow-wow roll and pop rockin' roll. Oh and the seared halibut -- impeccable. The service was top notch as well. Drinks are unique and delicious. We ended up valeting at the hotel since it was raining... just FYI it'll cost you 20 bucks if you go that route. I'd try to find parking elsewhere if you can. We wanted to try everything on the menu... just means we'll have to make it back again soon!

Yelp
Had really high hopes for this spot but was extremely disappointed. Our server was very friendly and attentive but that was the most pleasant thing about the experience. Considering the price point, almost every dish was underwhelming and below average. The tuna pizza was mediocre at best and wasn't seasoned evenly. The most disappointing item on the order was the $160 omakase "box". It wasn't fresh at all and lacked any significant flavor/umami. To sum it up it was just unequivocally BAD for any price point, let alone $160. Finally, while the ambiance is mostly high end, the blue lights threw me off. It was very difficult to see the the true tones of the food unless I used the flash on my phone. Unfortunately, I would not recommend and wouldn't go back.

Yelp
We stopped in late evening for dessert and these 2 desserts did not disappoint. This restaurant is known for sushi but we came in for the desserts and they absolutely did not disappoint. The service was great! Our server brought these out so quickly and gave us the the scoop on what they were all about and sold us on them. The ambiance was great! Very Delray night time chic. We definitely will be returning for the sushi.
