Giles Coren Calls Chef Tom Kerridge’s First London Restaurant ‘Boss’ | Eater London

"An ambitious Japanese restaurant with show-stopping dishes and some service and value issues. The house bento is praised for exquisite, artful presentation, while the wagyu — whether on excellent rice or seared on the robata to a blackened, beefy crust — is lauded for its intense, buttery richness. However, staff can feel undertrained or brusque, prices are steep, wine pours meagre, and operational hiccups (a missing dish, fish pre-sliced for later services, and being hurried out) dent the overall impression. There is much to celebrate on the plate, but key front-of-house and pricing areas need tightening." - George Reynolds

Katie did an awesome job on my first trim and color with her! The salon was clean, modern, and very inviting. It was nice to enjoy a glass of wine after a long day at work while getting pampered 🙂 I also have a very tender head and she was super gentle and checked on me often to make sure she wasn’t hurting me…I really appreciate her extra care and concern. I’ll definitely be back!!

I called today to reschedule my appointment because I just started feeling sick. Unfortunately, being sick can't be scheduled 24 hours in advance. When I asked to reschedule, I was told I would lose my prepaid service (my children bought me a gift certificate to this salon). When I said I would come in, they told me they would now cancel it because I had told them I'm sick. Either way, I lost. Fascinating customer service approach. You better plan to be sick so you can reschedule and not lose any money. "It's just our policy." Well, my policy is never to go to establishments that provide terrible customer service.

The service at Akira is outstanding. I visit the salon every 6-8 weeks and see Ashley. She does a fabulous job with my color and cut. She also provides me with her expertise if I am having any issues with my scalp or hair. I have never visited the salon without feeling welcomed and appreciated. You can’t find a better place to go. I highly recommend Ashley!

The man at the front desk is rude and he’s the reason I won’t go back. My haircut and color were great and I was looking forward to continuing these services. I was 7 minutes late and was told I couldn’t be seen anymore. Not enough time. That’s fine, I was sad but I get it. What REALLY bothered me was the HORRIBLE attitude of the person who communicated this to me. No compassion or understanding. Just rudeness and accusatory attitude. He should not be in costumer service.

Went for my mom's birthday last week. Mom had massage and a facial. I had massage and a manicure. My friend had a manicure and my daughter had a pedicure. Mine was one of the best massages ever! My mom came out glowing and looking teen years younger. We all had a great time. And the staff was so accommodating for our little group! Manicure and pedicure equipment was sparkling clean.

Yesterday I left a message inquiring about laser hair removal. Today I receive a call back and I was asked are you African American. I say yes , the technician tells me that laser hair removal does not work on people of color . I told her that’s funny I’ve had it before . She then proceeds to tell me that she had a bad experience with an African American woman as she burnt her skin and it left her discolored. I told her I’ve had no issue with getting burned nor did I experience skin discoloration as I’ve had laser hair removal in the past. I have had almost 10 sessions without issue, my issue is this : Just say you are inexperienced . Lasers are new and improved , technology has advanced . No problem there are many other places that will be happy to provide the service .

I arrived a few minutes before my service time and had to wait to be seen until 10 minutes after my scheduled time. I got a pedicure and the water wasn't filled up yet when she sat me down, nor did I realize that the seat could massage, until after my pedicure was over. My toe nails were painted and they were all chunky looking and the polish wasn't smoothed out. I don't feel like my feet are barely any different from when I walked in. She hardly scrubbed or massaged at all. Not worth the price that I paid. She was pleasant to talk to but not a good pedicure.
