So I finally had a chance to dine in and I was very disappointed with the service. Food was about the same, but just being there was so much worse.
The biggest issue is the waitstaff are just not there. After being seated and given a menu I was asked if I'm ready to order after maybe 20 seconds, then they didn't come back for almost 10 minutes. I was contemplating leaving but remembered I'd had good takeout here so have it a shot.
I order, and within minutes I can see my 2 rolls on the top of the sushi counter. The chef is insanely fast. And the rolls sit. And sit. And finally one of the 3 waiters working brings it to me.
Again, food is good not great. This is a place to scratch your sushi itch, not a place to get a legit omakase meal.
Anyway, during the entire process of bringing the food, they don't check once. I ran out of water halfway through and they never once even asked if I'd like more. Nor did they clear any dishes after the food was gone.
After finishing, we had some leftovers, and irritatingly they just gave me 2 plastic clamshell containers.
Look, plastic is ruining our planet. You can't get cardboard?
And furthermore - why am I going to a restaurant to put my own leftovers away? I hate that this is a thing. It's your food, you made it, you put the leftovers away. Why am I expected to?
This just brings me back to the overall point - why am I eating here? To get SERVED. Not to just eat in front of my TV. So where exactly is the SERVICE?
To top it all off, it took almost 20 minutes from asking for the bill to them bringing it, running my card, and bringing it back. All the while I am one of three tables there. And they have 3 waiters. How can they be this slow?
Consider my lesson learned. This is a takeout spot, not a dine-in one.
And the final thing - on the bill there was a "transaction fee" of 4%. Excuse me, but credit card processing is YOUR cost, not mine, and maxes out at 3.15%. So they are using this as an excuse to make extra money. Not cool.
Oh and inside it was very, very warm. Uncomfortably so. With all the money you're making on made up fees, would it kill them to run the A/C?
