The 38 Best Restaurants in Tokyo, Japan

"Open for: Lunch and dinnerPrice range: $$Akomeya is the place in central Tokyo if you’re looking to buy premium rice, foodstuffs from around Japan, kitchen essentials (including earthenware donabe pots), and designer tableware. But the best reason to visit is the casual in-store canteen, Akomeya Shokudo, which serves simple set meals of rice, miso soup, pickles, and main dishes like deep-fried fish and scallops. There’s also kakigori shaved ice, which can be topped with chocolate and rum raisins, as well as a variety of teas including a yuzu green tea and lemongrass hojicha roasted green tea.Best for: A quick set meal, plus a new donabe to take home." - Yukari Sakamoto

It's In front of Kagurazaka Station. The second floor selling some clothong, bags and wallets . There are some nice ones but all are very expensive. I cannot afford them at all. On the ground floor, there are many things about rice, rice itself, rice wine (sake), chopsticks, condiments and garnishes you enjoy with a bowl of rice and a cafe. I bought a bottle of sake for dinner.

I went there two times to eat and the food and service were great. I tried once the fish and second time the chicken dish. Both were very tasty and portion was good enough. Good value for money.

I love coming to AKOMEYA to browse all the different things they sell. From snacks and food items to clothing, jewelry, and even furniture, there’s always something interesting to look at. I enjoy taking my time and just walking around the store. They also have a wonderful café and lunch spot, which I like to stop by when I’m there. It makes the whole visit feel relaxed and enjoyable. AKOMEYA is a great place to buy gifts, especially for friends or for seniors. The items feel thoughtful, high quality, and carefully selected. It’s a place I often recommend when I’m looking for something meaningful and unique.

We wandered in on one of those Tokyo days when the sun feels like it’s trying to grill you on medium-high. By the time we reached la kagū, we were a bit wilted, sweaty & frankly not looking like the kind of glamorous customers you see in lifestyle magazines. And yet, the staff welcomed us with genuine kindness, the sort that instantly made us feel human again. We settled into the café, grateful for the cool air and the calm atmosphere. The iced drinks arrived like small miracles, perfectly timed resurrections for overheated travelers. Sitting there, surrounded by shelves of beautiful Japanese goods: rice, condiments, ceramics & elegant little treasures...I realized this place isn’t just a store or a café. It’s a refuge. The shop itself is beautifully curated, with every item looking like it belongs in both a kitchen and an art gallery. But it was that moment of kindness on a sweltering day that turned a simple stop into a memory. This place isn’t just about fine rice & stylish design; it’s about hospitality that makes you feel at home, even when you arrive looking like you’ve lost a wrestling match with the summer heat. Highly recommended. Whether you’re in it for the products, the café, or just a small act of grace when you need it most.

I recently moved to Kagurazaka and unexpectedly discovered that there is a treasure here. It is said that Akomeya La kagu used to sell furniture, but then the furniture was gone and it was changed to household items. The seasonings here are very rich and the household items are also very exquisite. Many tourists come here. Choose gifts to take back to your friends. It’s more about people like me who live nearby. If I don’t want to cook, I come here to have a sumptuous meal, which only costs 1200-2000 yen. The sense of ceremony and quality are very good. I give this place full marks 💯

Very nice place. A shop with original products following the Japanese tradition on houseware, clothes and food, like the noodles in a very nice packaging. The restaurant seems to have a healthy food but I didn’t try, just took a look at the menu. Outside, the Farmers Market has vegetables and flowers.

From shopping for souvenirs to delicious food, Akomeya is a favorite. If you want to try a Kaiseki meal, go here for a cheap one. Each dish comes in tableware highlighting the rich handicraft traditions of Japan. Each item was carefully prepared and truly satisfying. There are stairs to enter here so I’m not sure if those with accessibility issues can easily go up.

This is a must visit if you want to buy specialized local goods from all over Japan. Coming from the US, I found so many fascinating products that I would have never discovered elsewhere. I definitely shopped a lot and brought back a lot of food items as well as some ceramics, kitchen tools, and even a kitchen apron jacket! I also ate here; the meals are a good value and taste fresh and healthy. The miso soup was incredibly tasty. My new favorite shop in Tokyo!
