Akrogiali Restaurant in Chania is an absolute gem! We had an amazing dining experience with exceptional meats that were perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor. The service was outstanding – attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. To our delight, we were treated to a delightful dessert surprise at the end, paired with complimentary raki, which added a special touch to our evening. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, perfect for enjoying a delicious meal with friends or family. Akrogiali truly stands out for its quality food, impeccable service, and genuine hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Chania!

Exactly what we were looking for. Authentic restaurant just in front of the beach, no cars, nice traditional sea food and totally reasonable prices. The owners are super accommodating. A very nice experience. We will definitely come back!

Firstly, the location of this place on Google maps is wrong. It's beside Anika Apartments and not The Five Restaurant. Food was very good but service poor. The girl that was serving us seemed like she's fed up with life - quite a pity as we really liked the dishes yet we wouldn't come back due to the service. Prices are affordable and reasonable especially for a place by the beach. If you're just looking to eat something without being bothered, it's place for you. If you're looking for customer service along with good food, I don't think you'll find it here.

The food was very bad, we ordered a gyros and the meat was mostly gristle. All the gyros had was gristle, a lot of onion, two pieces of tomato and a tiny bit of yogurt on top. We waited 50 minutes for the gyros and when we asked about it the waiter started to yell at us that this is a taverna (?!). Do not come here. Horrible.

After a dip in the sea, we visited this lovely place again. This time we had a Greek salad and the shared platter for 2. They gave us a free desert after our meal. But it didn’t last long enough to take a picture.

This was a positive surprise! We had the Small Mix Plate and everything was perfectly grilled and tastefull. This was also my first Grilled Feta Cheese and Fried Zucchini , and it really set the bar high. Good location, good service, and would recommend a visit if you want to enjoy good local food.

Satisfactory. The waiter seemed more enthusiastic about his job and friendly, and he also understood more English than the waitresses. They kept frowning and spent a lot of time chatting together There were some miscommunication issues, for example when we asked for a box or doggy bag to take the leftovers they said yes then collected the dishes and did not give us the leftovers. The worst was when we ordered a Fanta Orange and the waitress gave us a Fanta Blue which our 9 year old opened before realising it was the wrong item. Waitress explained she only had Fanta Blue. We said we did not want it and ordered another drink. She did not take it so I went up to the back and returned it to the manager. At the end they tried charging us for it arguing that we had opened it. The manager was more sensible and ended the argument by agreeing to void it. He actually seemed quite friendly so it was a shame he did not have much involvement with customers other than taking payment at the end. The food was quite good. My order was reheated from frozen but their menu makes you aware of that, which is fair. There was a hair in the bread (photo shows it after my daughter pulled it out of the bread, definitely not ours as the kids and partner are all blonde and my hair is too short!). The restaurant was not expensive but there are better ones cheaper nearby. Overall the experience was alright but not something I would want regularly.

Good food and prices. I wish they would add a bit more of Mizithra cheese in the salad.
