Akureyri - Berjaya Iceland Hotels

We stayed for three nights in January and cannot fault this hotel. The hotel is at the top of a hill so has stunning views of the mountains, town and fjord and when we entered we were wowed by how cosy, clean and well presented everything was. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay, from bringing a kettle to the room, to helping me search for a lost glove, the service was amazing. Breakfast had an excellent selection of hot and cold food and drink options, catering wonderfully for gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian and vegan. We were really impressed. The king room was fairly spacious, had huge windows with stunning views of the mountains, a really powerful shower, L'Occtaine toiletries and the comfiest bed we've ever slept in! The mattress, duvet and pillows were all so comfortable we struggled to get out of bed! The room had a coffee machine and hair dryer, with plenty if space to unpack clothing, boots, and coats for those colder days. We had a brilliant stay and would absolutely love to return. Thank you so much to all the staff for making our first trip to Akureyri memorable and magical.

Really lovely, cosy warm hotel. All staff were incredibly attentive and happy to help. I found very nice details with the hotel including tealight candles lit in reception area at all hours of the day. Rooms were warm, very clean and beds comfortable. Shower pressure was fantastic. Breakfast was really good - great selection and all very tasty. I would be more than happy to stay again if I came back to Akureyri. The hill is a bit tough when it’s icy but could get a taxi if it’s an issue for some.

We stayed here for three nights just before Christmas and it was great. Our room looked out onto the mountains, which was stunning.|The room was really clean and the breakfast had a big selection of food.|We made the most of happy hour at the bar. The atmosphere was really relaxed.

Very steep walk, not great in icy climate. Rooms are definitely the most weird I've seen in a while. Rooms have lot of corners and delicate glass. Not recommended for staying with children. Okay for 1 night stay as you are going around the ring road. Really amazing breakfast and really nice people.

The hotel was nice and the staff were very friendly. The room was clean and spacious. We were only there for one night, but would have enjoyed staying there a second night. Also enjoyed the artwork throughout the hotel. Would stay again if I’m ever back in the area.

Lovely hotel with a nice vibe. Good breakfast options, we had a twin room and I would have preferred to have a curtain between the shower and room as there was nothing. Apart from that it was top notch. Comfortable beds, clean and quiet. …………..

The location is good - it is walkable to town. However, the walk back from town is a rough uphill trek.|The room is nice enough. |The bathroom design is not good. There is a glass divider instead of a shower door. So when you take a shower, there is water all over the bathroom floor. So then you are using the toilet, your feet are in a small pool of water until it all drains and dries. This seems to be a bathroom design trend lately, but it just doesn't work. |The sink is outside the bathroom, which I have never seem before. I can see it being useful if you are sharing a room with someone and they can use the shower while you use the sink and mirror to brush teeth, shave, put on makeup. |There was a small amount of mold on the shower floor. |Really nice L'Occitane toiletries - big sized, and attached to the wall. |I like the nice bench to sit on. |I also like the luggage bench. I hate leaving my bag on the floor and having to bend over to get things. I love the bench, it is sturdy and practical. |The room had a kettle to make tea or coffee, dryer, blackout curtains. |Breakfast buffet is ok, not great. It is good enough but not special.

This hotel was OK, but I would look to stay at a different hotel if visiting Akureyri again. Check-in was easy, and the staff at the front desk are friendly and efficient. The location is a bit outside of central Akureyri, a short walk up the hill, which was fine. Parking was easy. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The room had tons of natural light and a view of the mountains, but the room was awkwardly, and I would say stupidly, laid out. The bathroom was split into a shower and a watercloset with sink. The shower does not have a door, just a curtain. If you are traveling as a couple, and one of you gets up before the other, if you take a shower, it means the person in bed gets to hear all of your shower as there is not door. After drying off, you then need to walk around the room to get to the water closet to do the rest of your post-shower activities. The water closet was also awkward as it was just a sliding glass door that did not go all the way to the ceiling. All toilet sounds echo and go into the rest of the room. It’s especially awkward as this is right next to the headboard of the bed. I think this bathroom layout was chosen to be space efficient, but it came at the cost of making the room much less pleasant than it should have been.
