Akureyri - Berjaya Iceland Hotels (Akureyri, Iceland) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"If a few days in and around Reykjavík aren’t enough to satisfy your Icelandic urges, the next logical step is the around-the-island road trip — in which case the so-called Capital of the North plays a central role. It’s also a fine spot from which to view the Northern Lights, if you’re here in winter. And in Hotel Akureyri it’s got a boutique hotel whose style and atmosphere are anything but provincial." - Tablet Hotels

Icelandair Hotel Akureyri | Best places to stay in Iceland

"This city-centre hotel isn’t much to look at – it’s set in a former school – but given the limited options in the ‘capital of northern Iceland’, it’s the best place to stay. The 100 modern Scandinavian rooms are smartly furnished and comfortable.. It’s a ten-minute walk to the centre of Akureyri – not great in the snow – but otherwise it’s ideally positioned for visiting the country’s northern attractions, including Lake Myvatn, Dimmuborgir, Dettifoss and the ski area at Mt Hlidarfjall. The town’s thermal pools are just across the road. " - Oliver Berry

Wonderful hotel in beautiful Akureyri! Restaurants and shops within walking distance. A great pool facility (not part of hotel) across the street if you are traveling with children. ||Rooms were comfortable and clean. Our family room was perfect for the 4 of us. Staff very kind and helpful prior and during our visit. Ample parking available.

The room is nice, clean and comfy. This hotel is up the hill and you have to walk up and down if you're going to nearby restaurants or to walk around the little town. The town is really small though.

Great hotel and amazing staff. We had a great time. It’s located less than a kilometer from the main church and shopping area but a pretty easy walk. Our room was spacious with kids bunch bed and adult king bed. Parking was free and they had a great lounge to relax. The breakfast buffet was phenomenal and the staff was very friendly. I loved the spread and the quality of the food. Will come again and stay, very well run place.

Stayed at the hotel Tuesday- Saturday for a business trip. First time visiting Iceland and couldn’t ask for a better hotel to stay at. The room had everything I need with an amazing view outside. The bed was really comfortable and the shower had good pressure. Food was amazing, I really recommend the smash burger. Sylvia on reception is an absolute star. Answered any questions I had and was always happy to help. Thank you. With that, I would 100% stay at this hotel again and I’d recommend others do as well.

This hotel is very clean, modern and a great location with a short walk to downtown. Both the restaurant and bar were amazing and delicious. I highly recommend this place.

over $ 400 per night in a basement tiny room with tiny bathroom with toilet and shower. Sink in bedroom. poor quality towels. no toilet paper holder. No night stands. Worst hotel we stayed in during our drive around the ring. We stayed in 4 other hotels all much better. We did not request a discounted room.

Room somewhat small and tight. Toilet and shower enclosure in the same space make it inconvenient to use both facilities at the same time especially if you’re sharing the room with someone. No real sense of privacy when using the toilet. Shelf above the bed too low to allow for comfortably sitting up in bed and watching TV.Other than that conveniently located to restaurants and the waterfront. Rooms clean and service good.

I had a fifth floor room facing the water and it was noisy during the evening and into the night with cars racing up and down the street. However, I enjoyed my stay here, and was pleased with the comfortable room. It had an interesting layout, but was clean, with a comfortable bed, lots of windows (that even opened!), and plenty of space for an open suitcase. There was no refrigerator, and no safe. The unusual layout of the room placed the TV in the corner such that it could not really be watched from sitting on the bed. The couch was along the same wall as the TV, so you could not sit there to watch. There was no easy chair, but there was a stool across the room by the counter. I would have placed the TV in the middle of the room rather than in the corner, so that it could be watched from sitting in the bed. However, sitting in bed was even a challenge because there was a protruding shelf above the bed that stuck out 6 inches, and was low enough that your head hit it if you leaned against the pillows.
