Akureyri - Berjaya Iceland Hotels (Akureyri, Iceland) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"If a few days in and around Reykjavík aren’t enough to satisfy your Icelandic urges, the next logical step is the around-the-island road trip — in which case the so-called Capital of the North plays a central role. It’s also a fine spot from which to view the Northern Lights, if you’re here in winter. And in Hotel Akureyri it’s got a boutique hotel whose style and atmosphere are anything but provincial." - Tablet Hotels

Icelandair Hotel Akureyri | Best places to stay in Iceland

"This city-centre hotel isn’t much to look at – it’s set in a former school – but given the limited options in the ‘capital of northern Iceland’, it’s the best place to stay. The 100 modern Scandinavian rooms are smartly furnished and comfortable.. It’s a ten-minute walk to the centre of Akureyri – not great in the snow – but otherwise it’s ideally positioned for visiting the country’s northern attractions, including Lake Myvatn, Dimmuborgir, Dettifoss and the ski area at Mt Hlidarfjall. The town’s thermal pools are just across the road. " - Oliver Berry

Berjaya Akureyri Hotel – Honest Review||We stayed at the Berjaya Akureyri Hotel, and overall, it was very 6-7. The rooms were pretty basic, and the bathroom setup wasn’t ideal — the toilet was uncomfortably close to the bed.||Breakfast was just okay — nothing special. It would’ve been much better if they offered fresh eggs or made-to-order options, but as our tour guide said, “this is what you get.”||One nice feature was their northern lights wake-up service. They’ll call your room if the lights are visible, and one night they actually were, which was a great experience.||Unfortunately, our overall impression took a hit when the room attendant forgot to make up our room on the second day. That kind of service slip left a bad taste and overshadowed the positives.

Decent sized rooms. Separate toilet and shower areas. Heating but no air conditioning. Windows can be opened for air. Coffee pods in room. No safe. Single elevator serving 5 floors. Breakfast options somewhat limited. Good location, down is just 10 minutes away Front desk will call room if desired if Northern Lights are visible.

Wonderful hotel in beautiful Akureyri! Restaurants and shops within walking distance. A great pool facility (not part of hotel) across the street if you are traveling with children. ||Rooms were comfortable and clean. Our family room was perfect for the 4 of us. Staff very kind and helpful prior and during our visit. Ample parking available.

Out of all the Berjaya hotels, this one was the prettiest and it has a luxurious look. The rooms were amazing, comfortable and clean. The breakfast was good and dinner was even better. Everyone from the staff was super nice

Rooms good. Receptions friendly. Location also nice, just 800 - 1000 metres to the downtown of Akureyri & that iconic Church (see attached photo). Grazie mille.

I had a fifth floor room facing the water and it was noisy during the evening and into the night with cars racing up and down the street. However, I enjoyed my stay here, and was pleased with the comfortable room. It had an interesting layout, but was clean, with a comfortable bed, lots of windows (that even opened!), and plenty of space for an open suitcase. There was no refrigerator, and no safe. The unusual layout of the room placed the TV in the corner such that it could not really be watched from sitting on the bed. The couch was along the same wall as the TV, so you could not sit there to watch. There was no easy chair, but there was a stool across the room by the counter. I would have placed the TV in the middle of the room rather than in the corner, so that it could be watched from sitting in the bed. However, sitting in bed was even a challenge because there was a protruding shelf above the bed that stuck out 6 inches, and was low enough that your head hit it if you leaned against the pillows.

Great hotel and amazing staff. We had a great time. It’s located less than a kilometer from the main church and shopping area but a pretty easy walk. Our room was spacious with kids bunch bed and adult king bed. Parking was free and they had a great lounge to relax. The breakfast buffet was phenomenal and the staff was very friendly. I loved the spread and the quality of the food. Will come again and stay, very well run place.

The room is nice, clean and comfy. This hotel is up the hill and you have to walk up and down if you're going to nearby restaurants or to walk around the little town. The town is really small though.
