Akureyri - Berjaya Iceland Hotels (Akureyri, Iceland) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"If a few days in and around Reykjavík aren’t enough to satisfy your Icelandic urges, the next logical step is the around-the-island road trip — in which case the so-called Capital of the North plays a central role. It’s also a fine spot from which to view the Northern Lights, if you’re here in winter. And in Hotel Akureyri it’s got a boutique hotel whose style and atmosphere are anything but provincial." - Tablet Hotels

Icelandair Hotel Akureyri | Best places to stay in Iceland

"This city-centre hotel isn’t much to look at – it’s set in a former school – but given the limited options in the ‘capital of northern Iceland’, it’s the best place to stay. The 100 modern Scandinavian rooms are smartly furnished and comfortable.. It’s a ten-minute walk to the centre of Akureyri – not great in the snow – but otherwise it’s ideally positioned for visiting the country’s northern attractions, including Lake Myvatn, Dimmuborgir, Dettifoss and the ski area at Mt Hlidarfjall. The town’s thermal pools are just across the road. " - Oliver Berry

Staying here now and the hotel is fantastic. Staff are very nice and really helpful and rooms are great, especially the ones with a mountain view. Up a steep hill so not great for mobility issues walking down to the bars and restaurants, but perfect for us. The bar is very chilled and has a happy “hour” 3-6pm

Good sized rooms with good facilities. Staff and in particular the Reception Staff were excellent and very friendly, good selection of items at breakfast and very clean throughout. Highly recommend. Relatively close to town but is a steep hill if have walking difficulties but can easily get a taxi! Would recommend and definitely book again if back in the future.

From the moment that I arrived at this well located hotel to a very friendly welcome at the front desk, to the time of leaving, I enjoyed every minute in this lovely hotel.|All staff were friendly and helpful. My room was of a good size and spotless. I asked for a kettle and it was provided immediately. Quiet, although facing out onto a road. So pretty at this time of the year with Christmas decorations. Staff will call you at night if you request, when the Northern Lights are visible. You can also request for your room not be cleaned and guests receive a voucher for each day of this request.|Save the planet, and save your pennies. Great idea and more hotels could adopt this policy.

Stayed here for a week in January 2025. The location is great, Akureyri isn’t massive so it’s very walkable. We walked from the airport to the hotel and even walked up to the most northern point of Akureyri without much fuss and that was in -24 Celsius! Staff were brilliant, very accommodating and always happy to help with any queries including replying promptly to emails prior to our arrival. The rooms are compact but comfortable and don’t leave you wanting much, separate toilet and shower is a nice touch although due to the size of the room they are relatively close to the bed. Overall enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend staying here if you are visiting Akureyri!

Berjaya Akureyri Hotel – Honest Review||We stayed at the Berjaya Akureyri Hotel, and overall, it was very 6-7. The rooms were pretty basic, and the bathroom setup wasn’t ideal — the toilet was uncomfortably close to the bed.||Breakfast was just okay — nothing special. It would’ve been much better if they offered fresh eggs or made-to-order options, but as our tour guide said, “this is what you get.”||One nice feature was their northern lights wake-up service. They’ll call your room if the lights are visible, and one night they actually were, which was a great experience.||Unfortunately, our overall impression took a hit when the room attendant forgot to make up our room on the second day. That kind of service slip left a bad taste and overshadowed the positives.

Decent sized rooms. Separate toilet and shower areas. Heating but no air conditioning. Windows can be opened for air. Coffee pods in room. No safe. Single elevator serving 5 floors. Breakfast options somewhat limited. Good location, down is just 10 minutes away Front desk will call room if desired if Northern Lights are visible.

This hotel is located at the very top of a steep hill, you definitely get your steps in walking to and fro from the hotel.|The room we stayed in was a Queen sized room, it was spacious enough although the shower area we felt was very small and tight. We had the most amazing view outside our hotel room, looking out onto the mountains and being able to see the ski resort.|Room was equipped with necessary amenities and topped up with fresh towels daily, tea and coffee facilities also included. |The staff at the desk were so helpful and we were able to find out that if northern lights are spotted, the staff will ring up to your rooms to alert you, which was definitely an added bonus for us.|The hotel is a short walk to downtown, where you'll find plenty of restaurants and souvenier shops. There's also public swim baths less than a 2 minute walk from the hotel, prices are very reasonable we were told, unfortunately never got the opportunity to go.|Overall the hotel was good value for money, would definitely stay here again.

Wonderful hotel in beautiful Akureyri! Restaurants and shops within walking distance. A great pool facility (not part of hotel) across the street if you are traveling with children. ||Rooms were comfortable and clean. Our family room was perfect for the 4 of us. Staff very kind and helpful prior and during our visit. Ample parking available.
