Al Ameer

My fiancé and I visited this restaurant on Saturday after a relaxing massage. The place was empty when we arrived, which made me a little skeptical at first, but I quickly learned there was no reason to be. Whenever we dine out, we always order different meals so we can share and taste everything. He ordered the stuffed lamb, and I ordered the Gahllaba with lamb. The stuffed lamb was delectable—cooked perfectly in my opinion, very soft and tender. The Gahllaba came with small pieces of lamb in a red sauce with bell peppers, onions, and tomatoes, and it was very good as well. My only two observations were that the stuffed lamb was slightly dry, and the Gahllaba didn’t have quite enough meat for my liking. That said, I enjoyed the stuffed lamb so much that I returned on Monday just to get it again. They even accommodated me by adding the Gahllaba sauce on the side, which was a great touch. The customer service was really good, although it’s worth noting that it wasn’t busy at the time—there were only three other tables. Parking is also a bit tight. I would have given this place five stars, but I was a bit confused about not receiving bread, which is usually complimentary. Maybe there’s a charge for it, but that’s why I’m giving four stars instead of five. I will definitely be back, and hopefully bread will be included next time.

Al Ameer Restaurant is truly a gem! The food is made from fresh, high-quality ingredients that you can taste in every bite. Their dishes are full of authentic flavor and always prepared with great care. The hygiene standards are excellent, and you can tell they take cleanliness seriously. The staff is welcoming, Walid our server was super friendly. Highly recommended for anyone looking for delicious food and great service!

Disappointed…. with heavy heart I am writing this review. This is not the old Al ameer that I grow up with. Prices are insane 4x and quality of products is minus 4x…. True disappointment. The true Lebanese food taste is gone. The only highlight of the restaurant, fresh baked pita. Time to look for a new place.

This is my favorite of all Michigan restaurants. There are some good ones. But this is my favorite. I come here whenever possible as I don't get to visit as often these days. Babaghanoush is topps all the way around. And Hanadi is gonna set you up the right way when you come in. Tremendous food. Its all so good. You can even bring your friend that might be squeamish about anything that isnt taxos and chicken fingers. Good people, good food, good service Give them your money

If you’re thinking to go for the Ramadan buffet save your money and go somewhere else. Food wasn’t all that. Plates were dirty. They charged me double tip. Which the waitress was supposed to let me know that tip was included in my bill. So I paid twice for tip. I paid 111.00 for two small plates and two sodas. The food is halal but the price is haram. shame on you alameer I’ll never come again.

Friends and I were traveling to Michigan for a wedding and wanted to find a place on the way to the resort to have dinner and stumbled upon Al Ameer and were blown away. The food was absolutely delicious (we ordered the Kabob plate, hummus and tabbouleh) our server Juju was an absolute sweetheart and made the whole experience that much more enjoyable. I highly recommend this spot

Delicious food for a fantastic price. Their bread is soft, chewy, yet thin, allowing the individual to focus on the filling without being overly bread-like. This is what low-carb bread tries to be. The fries were nothing to write home about, but that's not why one would come here.

Absolutely incredible. Stuffed lamb was perfect. Great value, large portions, and entree comes with a soup! Kind hospitality. Beautiful dining room. 10/10 recommend.

4.5. When talking about Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food in SE Michigan, the name Al-Ameer inevitably comes up. They're a staple in these parts and currently have three locations: Dearborn, Dearborn Heights and Canton, in order of founding. They're known for classic takes on Lebanese food and aside from slight tweaks on consistency of meat moisture (lol is that a term), much credit to them for showcasing some major deliciousness! My first experience was eating with a friend and her family. We arrived at 6pm with reservations and were seated at a booth. Seating easily fit over 100 at this location, and is comprised of booths, smaller and larger tables in different areas in the main dining room. This location is a little fancier in using white table cloths, and we saw several larger parties of 10 or more quite dressed for a special occasion. There's also a large private room in the back I believe bookable for private functions. Food-wise you can't go wrong with the fattoush (crispy fried pita mixed with a freshly dressed lettuce salad), tabouli (a tomato/cucumber/parsley salad), stuffed grape leaves with rice inside, sujuk (a spicy fermented sausage)--all terrific! The pita comes out warm and soft, and their white garlic sauce is so good they've bottled it and sell it at local chain supermarkets like Kroger and Meijer. Their hummus is creamy and heavenly. For meats on my first visit we shared an Al-Ameer Platter $34.99 consisting of a skewer of each: chicken shawarma, beef shawarma tawook kabob, and two kafta. We also got a Combo Platter $24.99 which was composed of a shish kabob, tawook, kafta, falafel & served with hummus, salad, and your choice of fries or rice. The meat was grilled perfectly on my first visit, and seasoned well. Subsequently for takeout chicken has occasionally been drier but nothing inedible. The portion sizes are generous as many have mentioned. I'll be back! PS there's parking directly in the lot around the the restaurant

Went to Al Ameer for the first time and it was so delicious! They give you fresh warm bread when you arrive and you can order dips if youd like. My friend and I shared a chicken combo platter and it was more than enough for two girls! My favorite was the sausage? Skewer and the chicken shwarma! They were so flavorful and delicious! Service was also very quick and nice. Would definitely recommend!

I haven't been to this location in years - at least 9 or 10. Let's not talk about that experience, but the one in 2023. Good service (Amira or Ameera was great), the food came out hot, fresh and that hot, fresh bread is amazing. I am so glad that Al-Ameer has turned this location around - I will be back! (I'm just seeing Marc M.'s review from three days again and I can't believe we went to the same place as that was my experience many years back. I hope management looks at these reviews and takes action at this location. I usually go to Al-Ameer in East Dearborn, but my appointment was closer to this location).

Good service, however the food was very poor quality. It was overcooked and very dry. So much so that it was very difficult even getting the meat off the skewers. I will think twice about returning.

Despite the fact that this was the closest Al-Ameer to my husband's old apartment, I have never actually reviewed it! We used to stop by this Al-Ameer, and also Ab's in the same lot all the time when he used to live in Dearborn Heights. We came in on a Wednesday night and were seated right away. We split the Stuffed Lamb and an order of grape leaves. The stuffed lamb came with a side salad and also pita. It was as good as we remembered. Honestly, this was one of our best meals during our week in Michigan. Service was attentive and very friendly. I wish we had an Al-Ameer here in NJ.

We were there for a private party yesterday and it was wonderful! My only gripe with the place is their tiny parking lot can be hard to maneuver but the food and service were fabulous. We were seated and served quickly. All of the food was delicious and plentiful. Would definitely visit again when I'm in the area

I used to love this place - but the last time I went, the chicken was so dry and flavorless. The pita and hummus are always delicious - but this location seems to have deteriorated.

We had a great experience. It was my first time to Al-Ameer. My partner found the location on Yelp. I asked our waitress for recommendations and they were all great! The food tasted great and the atmosphere is lively. Be prepared to bring your appetite, the portions are large!

The chicken sharama was dry, and the white water they called garlic sauce, didn't help the sandwich at all. What happened to the garlic paste you used to have? As for the fotush..cucumbers were gone, tomatoes were gone, and it was crammed in this little black container. Totally different food since the last time I was here. My advice is go down to Al-Shala. Great customer service, and the food is really good!

Sad that this was a go to place for my girlfriend and I, not anymore. We went a few months back and felt neglected the whole time we were there. Also, the food just wasn't the same, but we figured maybe an off day. Well, we went back and we unfortunately had to get up and leave. No one came to seat us as we waited at the front. Mind you restaurant was not close to being full. When we were finally seated, not one server came to our table. We waited 20 minutes and literally not one person came to table. We started to find it funny, because they were Al passing us like we didn't exist. We finally decided to get up and leave. I really used to like this place. Their food was top notch and service was always good. Now, I'm not sure what changed, but doesn't look like we will be going back anytime soon. I have it 2 stars cause I'm hoping they fix this!!!

They just delete the real reviews because this place was trash we got ignored the whole time got eyes rolled at several times just aggressive for no reason we barley got waited on nobody was there to ever serve us or anything asked for sauces multiple times and never showed all I'm saying is you have to be accepting of different races and culture like sorry we weren't the people you clearly wanted but it's an open restaurant and this was insane plus the waitress came and checked on us once we were done and left alone for multiple minutes looking into space never again

Wow! What a wonderful place! From the time you step inside service begins. We were greeted by a delightful host. Then came Mary! Lovely server! Mary came to our table with a smile and allowed us time to make our menu choices. Throughout our stay Mary made sure we had plenty of water, and bread. The bread was fresh, hot, and delicious just like the food! We feel in love with Mary because she showed compassion, kindness, and her smile. The ambiance was personal and calm. The establishment was clean and had a happy feel to it. Loved our experience and will be visiting again soon

Ordered take-out: *meat shawarma was a bit dried out. *Chicken shawarma was excitedly tasty bit extremely greasy; the sandwiches were just dripping grease out of them. *We ordered extra garlic sauce & pita bread but did not receive it. *the medium fries were $4 -- the picture shows Texas fries, but regular fries are what we received -- no salt was added to them (not that that's necessarily a bad thing) -- not a bad price for fries compared to what fast food costs & gives as their order size ***Have previously eaten in this restaurant & I would recommend that -- extremely clean, nice atmosphere, polite workers. Plus every table gets the picked veges, hummus & warm out-of-the-oven pita breads (yummy)

Okay wow where to begin. I've been going to my regular Lebanese restaurant locally for years. I decided to try somewhere else and had heard good reviews of Al Ameer. Let me just stop you now before you decide to try it. Don't go here. We went for dinner on a Monday. Not too busy at all. The service somehow was still so slow. We ran out of water and waited 30+ minutes before the server returned. All the wait staff seemed like young kids who spent most of their time chatting with each other behind the host stand, ignoring their tables. The food was extraordinarily disappointing. My husband had the meat shawarma dinner. He and my dad both ate some of that and agreed the meat was inedible. They couldn't chew it. My dad ordered the chicken liver. He ate a few bites and left the rest. He said it was terrible. The only decent thing we ordered was the Beirut Hummus with jalapeños. I ate falafel and lentil soup and spent the next day sick as a dog. 13/10 would not recommend. Also important -- There were 3 dead cockroaches on the floor of the stall in the women's restroom. Can we get a health inspector over here soon please? Yikes. Do yourself a favor and drive a few miles East down Ford Road. Order from Beirut By Night, you'll be much happier with your meal and the service.

Food: 1 of 3 We got Shish Tawook (lunch portion) and Shish Beef Kabab (dinner portion). The first thing I noticed was the portion of the meat to the rice was way off. The lunch portion came with one skewer each and lots of rice, and the dinner portion came with two skewers. And if the taste was great, I would leave it alone but the thing is the meat on all skewers were dry! The chicken was dry and the other ones were too. And we could smell lamb on our other skewers that were supposed to be beef!!! It was possible they messed up our order too. The rice was beyond bland; it didn't have any flavor whatsoever. I had much better rice from other restaurants where they served garlic rice. The pitas from this Al Ameer though was quite good; they tasted fresh and housemade. The hummus was good too. The garlic sauce was extremely disappointing. It tasted like yogurt with no hint of garlic whatsoever. Such a major bummer. Price: 0 of 1 The lunch portion which came with one skewer each and lots of rice cost $10, and the dinner portion which came with two skewers cost $18. The meat was so little compared to the rice that I didn't feel it was justified that they charge close to $20 for two skewers of meat. To me it was kinda ridiculous. Service: 0 of 1 We asked for garlic sauce on the side but never came so we had to flag down our server. It was just so hard to get service. I'm not saying that our server was slacking because she seemed busy, but she was too busy with so many customers that she forgot our table.

My family and I always have a great experience at the Dearborn Heights location. Nawal is very attentive to what the table needs even before you ask. The food is amazing and the service is out of this world. The restaurant has a very middle eastern ambience. I would highly recommend if you are the Dearborn Heights area!

They charge me 3% said for credit card but I pay cash .... I didn't check the receipt til later wen I'm home. They just rob me !!! I and my friend wen to the Dearborn location .... This is very bad for business): bad

We lost our appetite after picking up the cup and seeing how greasy the cup was it left our fingers so oily and there was dried up bread or something on the sides. We were so hungry after the gym but we left after 15 minutes since that's how long it took for a waitress to come with our menus. when we told the waitress about our experience she rolled her eyes. We laughed so hard at how embarrassing this establishment is. Never coming here again.

First time I've had flavorless middle eastern food. The rice had no flavor, salad was made of ice berg and tomatoes only. No radish, pickles. Oh but I did get an entire bag of bread.

Simply the best Lebanese food I've ever had and I've lived in NYC and LA. My server, Sam, was the best. Kind, friendly, excited to serve. A true professional. He made awesome recommendations and all were exceptional My only regret is that I live in Virginia and can only experience this amazing cuisine a few times a year. I thought La Pita was the best, but this place puts it to shame.

Came in with a party yesterday we had the banquet with 35 people food was so fresh and delicious everything was on spot and very clean , what really caught my eye the most was the lady our waitress " Nawal " she was outstanding with her service she was alone with no help and handled it like a champ all by herself she was fast and so friendly and talk to each one of us every restaurant should have a server like Nawal , thank u so much Al Ameer for having us such a great place to come in and thank u Nawal

Had a family dinner for my mother in laws birthday, the entire staff and service was top notch. Bilal was fantastic and very attentive, right on top of things for the duration of the night. They even took our cake and put candles in it and had the whole restaurant singing happy birthday. Some of the best service received at a restaurant and they didn't even kick us out at closing, lol. Oh and the food was delicious!!

Hanadi was an amazing waitress. Had the best service as well as guided me through the menu and everything she suggested was amazing. Will definitely be coming back and requesting hanadi as my waitress

Simple not good! Everything wasn't tasty at all! Fatush salad was without typical spices and was just cut vegetables and vegetables weren't cut right away. Ordered combo - again meat wasn't tasty, small overcooked pieces. The ownership of this establishment must take a look and review all the dishes to protect the reputation !

Tried the stuffed lamb dish and the meat is so tender and flavorful. Combined with the seasoned rice and yoghurt salad makes a really good meal. So good that I did not take any picture.

Have eaten at this restaurant a few times and this last time was the last. The prices here have skyrocketed and the quality/quantity have fallen. Ordered the Chicken Kabob and Lamb Kabob combo dinner (1 skewer of each). The pieces of chicken and lamb were about 1" square! I have never had such small pieces of meat at any Middle Eastern restaurant. This is really pathetic considering the cost for that dinner and a side of hummus, and a plate of babagnush with chicken on it, cost almost $50.00! Our breadbasket was not refilled. We only drank water so there were no beverages in that cost. Too expensive for what you get! There are many really good Middle Eastern restaurants, but this one has fallen from grace!

Oh dear me! Just go. I cannot think of a reason not too. Food, service, authenticity--all stellar. "Sam" said he would bring us fresh carrot juice an all of a sudden the whole restaurant smelled like carrots! Yep, that fresh.

This was a great discovery. Based on a suggestion, came here with a group and the place on the inside looked very trendy, clean and elegant like a high quality restaurant. I liked the raw veggies they served along with pickled turnips with a nice savory/spicy sauce along with our appetizers of hummus and tabbouli. The bread was good too which was like naan, but they also brought out bigger flat breads that looked like a large fish and they were delicious. I ordered the Super Deluxe Sandwich which had hummus, falafel and tabbouli which tasted great! I also ordered spicy potatoes dish which was good and flavorful and lentil soup which never fails. Everything was so good and better yet, the portions in this place is very impressive! They give you plenty and then some! That's what I'm talking about, I love places where they give you great, generous portions that almost make you blow up, but yet you need a take out container to save the rest of your food later. The service was good too, out waiter was very accommodating and he gave additional bread that we could take home with us in addition to the take home boxes. They also have many selections in the menu for vegetarian options which I love, because I can order to my heart's content and the food though it's vegan/vegetarian, it was super! I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here and would love to come back here again.

I hadn't been to this Al-Ameer location before. It was early and the restaurant had just opened. We had a party of 9 and sat at 3 adjoining tables. The first thing I noticed was how dirty the restaurant was. The table surfaces were sticky. We ordered the Raw Kebbie (kibbeh nayeh) and stuffed grape leaves. The kebbie was tasteless. There was very little cracked wheat to give it the correct texture and very bland due to lack of spice. The pita pocket bread was made in the restaurant but was dry and unpalatable. The stuffed grape leaves were overcooked, mostly rice instead of a nice balance between meat and rice. Probably the worse dining experience I have had this year. Later that day I went to the other Al-Ameer location which, in the past had always been great, but was now only marginally better. I posted a separate review detailing that experience.

Our food was raw, the salad is soggy, hummus was a tiny plate for a family size tray, we asked if they can sing happy birthday to my cousin they first said yes but didn't do it. Food wasn't warm, bread was cold, overpriced meals. In general for my first time ever there it was a horrible experience.

When it comes to Mediterranean food, this place seems like a solid choice. To be frank, the outside isn't very impressive. I've been driving past this place for years, nothing really drew me in until some friends wanted to go. When it came time to finally go in, I was pleasantly surprised. The interior is very large, well decorated, and the space seems well taken care of. I think a lot of pride goes into the upkeep of this place. On to the food? It's fine. It wasn't the best Mediterranean food I've ever had, but it certainly wasn't bad. The bread was good (always a make or break for me), but I was a little disappointed they didn't serve it with the traditional garlic sauce. I got the chicken, rice, and vegetables soup which was a little lackluster to be honest. It tasted just generic. For dinner I ordered the boneless chicken with rice. Again, it was good, just not great. I don't mind coming here if someone were to suggest it, but I don't it'll ever be on my priority list of places to go.

Wow what an incredible place and incredible food. It was an honor to have dinner tonight with my fiancé. We order the al-ameer platter with rice and salad. My fiancé order hand made grab leaves which she loved. On a scale from 1-5 we would give it a thumps up and 4 Stars. The manager Abbas was so nice and welcoming I couldn't have asked for anyone better and our server Amira was fantastic. Next time your in the area please check them out and ask for her she did an amazing job as well. The only thing I would say in which I didn't give it 5 Stars was because we found hair in our salad. But thankfully the manager Abbas replace it and handled it fast and easy. He replaced everything and made sure it was all set. We will be coming back to this place in the future thank you guys for the hospitality.

We ordered a huge meal for takeout for the entire family. When we arrived, they didn't have it ready, didn't have it ordered and didn't much care. Lousy service and zero clue. Avoid this dump at all costs.

Always amazing. Im a huge fan of their kibbeh nayyeh. They're always very friendly, and have helped introduce me to many traditional/tasty middle eastern dishes. Great go to restaurant and a must try if you're visiting the area.

Have never had a bad meal here. It won a James Beard award-the 1st Michigan restaurant to do so-for a very good reason. My only beef is the parking, the lot is extremely tiny and difficult to park in. For all of the folks that gave it one star, y'all should stick to Denny's, that's about your speed.

Pre birthday dinner with the family around 6 pm tonight at Al-Ameer. I had heard how good it was and we were delighted with the service, the beautiful atmosphere and most of all, the food! We had chicken schwarma, schwarma salads, beef schwarma, falafel and lentil dishes. They brought hummus and pita, tomato kibbeh with onion and jalapeño and cheese rolls. Then baklava pastries for dessert! We chowed down but didn't feel overstuffed when we were done. One of the best meals in a beautiful restaurant with great staff.

We ate there today. We split one of the entrees and loved all of it. It was a combo plate. So good! Can't wait to go back!

This al ameer is the one located in Dearborn, and happens to be the best one in the city. Avoid the one in Canton. We drive extra just for this location only. The service is up to standards. The waiters are friendly. They greet U as U enter and exit the premises, and constantly check up on U for refills or anything else U need. Food has always been fresh and prepared quick. It is served pretty much on time Nd U do not have to wait too long. The menu is pretty much standard like any other mediterranean restaurant and there is no specific dish that stands out. A few dishes I can recommend are: Hummus with Lamb as a platter Beef shwarma platter Shish tawook sandwich or platter Lamb shank They do have a lunch special on Wednesday for lamb shank at only 9.99 which is quite the bargain. Also at the end of dinner, U can request some fresh Arabic coffee, custom made for U.

Food has not been up to par lately but still good. The service by my waiter is the best! Bilal was a 5 star. He made me and my family feel as if we were his only table in the place and we weren't. Place is clean, spacious and well kept.

I've gotten carry out from here before and it was fine until the most recent time. Hubby wanted chicken shawarma plate and I opted for the beef shawarma sandwich. Of course always with pita bread and garlic sauce. The beef was not tender but I guess can't expect much from a $5 sandwich. The worst part was my hubby's chicken. I had a bite of it and had to spit it out; it tasted like old chicken. It was very disappointing. I won't be ordering food here anymore. Ugh.

In town traveling with work, and the spot was recommended to me and it was amazing! The staff is so welcoming and friendly. He recommended dishes for me to try, they're non-bread with their dip that they give him the beginning it's out of this world! Not quite sure what's in it, but it's magical! I have course had to try all of the chickens, so I did the platter combo, which did not disappoint, and of course, my favorite, falafel! The portions are outrageous, but I should have enough meals to last me my entire business trip lol.

Went here for the first time last week. We heard good things about the iftar buffet and we were excited to try it however it was such a disappointment. The buffet was mainly vegetarian and had no meat options except for fried chicken. It was pathetic and not at all worth $29 per person. The service was ok, I understand it was Ramadan so they were probably more busy than usual. I do not plan on coming back here.

Simply the best Halal food in the area in my opinion. Usually you have to sacrifice quality for quantity but not here. Food is perfectly seasoned, plentiful and reasonably priced. The service is excellent, always efficient, professional and friendly. Don't miss out on this gem.

The food is consistent. You can't go wrong with the boneless chicken, fatoush add feta and they're sandwiches are usually on point.

My daughter was visiting from Atlanta and we wanted to treat her to a good Middle Eastern dinner. I had read online that this was the only Michigan restaurant to receive the James Beard award and thought it worthy of giving a try. Our server Hassan was excellent and the food was amazing. The bread is made warm right out of the oven and each dish was made to perfection. The atmosphere was pleasant and our overall experience was very enjoyable. We can't wait to go back.
