The 19 Best Restaurants in Cairo, Egypt | Eater

"Al Awda, located in Nasr City, is a charming restaurant that offers a delightful selection of Palestinian cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The food here is packed with flavor and served with a level of warmth and friendliness that truly embodies the spirit of the Arafat family, who opened the restaurant in the 1980s and still run it to this day. Grab one of the outdoor tables where you can delight in roz edra bil lahma (turmeric and safflower basmati rice cooked in a clay pot with chickpeas and beef), musakhan chicken (sumac-spiced chicken with soft, caramelized onions wrapped in Palestinian flatbread), and mansaf (Jordanian fall-off-the-bone braised lamb served on a bed of turmeric-infused rice and a drizzle of jameed, dried yogurt loosened with lamb broth). Al Awda also sells an array of products like pickles, baked goods, za’atar, labneh, and fresh cheeses for customers to take home." - Laila Hassaballa

I visited Al Awda Restaurant for Suhoor, and overall, it was a great experience. • Food: The dishes were delicious! The highlights of my meal were the foul with chickpeas and labneh with olive oil, both incredibly flavorful. I also enjoyed the cheese with tomatoes and the omelet. • Service: Despite the heavy crowd during Suhoor, the service was fast and well-organized, which was impressive. • Atmosphere: The restaurant was very crowded, so it might be a good idea to go early to avoid the rush. Overall rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5) Al Awda is a great choice for Suhoor, especially for those who love traditional Middle Eastern dishes. If you don’t mind a bit of a crowd, it’s definitely worth trying!

First time hearing about this spot and I was honestly shocked it had over +4000 great reviews on Google that got me curious and excited to try it I went for breakfast and wow!! This place is such a hidden gem! The food was actually so good, the vibe was really nice and the people working there were super friendly and helpful Parking was a bit of a headache, but that’s just how the area is It was packed after Friday prayer, but now I totally get it The food is worth it And usually when I eat a full Egyptian breakfast I get a stomach ache, but this time? Nothing!! Just good food and good energy. Definitely going back.

It was my first time there and it was good, I had the fool el awda which is beans with hummus that was good Labna with zaater and olive oil that was great and bakdonesya which is a salad with tahini and parsley And palastenian shakshouka, it is tomato sauce, onions and eggs on top and then baked, that wasn't very good I felt that I was tasting the tomato sauce right out from the jar it wasn't fully cooked but one of my friends told me it was better when he tried it before I tried the cheese samosa it was good and the flafel was ordinary Their service was fast and friendly Would recommend the place to someone who hasn't tried it before.
