I was excited to try this place out as the neighborhood desperately needs a decent taqueria / burrito joint. Additionally, having worked with a lot of Salvadorenos, I also enjoy a good pupusa, so Salvy Mex seemed like the best of both worlds.
To try it out, I got a burrito and a couple pupusas.
The service was quick and kind and the place was clean if empty with plenty of small tables.
The pupusas were solid, esp. for the location. There weren't a lot of variations, but they had some classics. I will definitely get these again and can recommend them. So far so good.
However, the burrito was pretty disappointing. First off it was full of soggy shredded lettuce, which to be frank, just does not belong in a burrito. Secondly the refried beans were underseasoned and the asada wasn't what I'd expect from a mexican taqueria. Lastly, the salsas were very vinegery, not spicy and distinctly watery.
Ultimately I'm glad to have Al Chile in the neighborhood, but I personally can only recommend them for the Salvy and not the Mex.
