This place was close to our hotel so we took a chance that they would be able to take us without a reservation. Our food was lovely and flavourful and the service was friendly and welcoming. The lemonchella at the end of the meal was a nice touch. Reasonably priced with large portions.

We looked online and this place seemed great but when we arrived at 638 it was closed so we went to a nearby bar for a drink and came back 45 minutes later and it was still closed. Staff inside tables set but door locked we were very disappointed the online information clearly didn't match the function operations of the place.

The food was amazing and we had such a fest! Pillowy soft gnocchi with the best pesto ever! The price is very good and the portions generous. If looking for an authentic delicious italian restaurant this it's the place!

My friend and I had an amazing experience here. Great service, kind and attentive staff. Food was absolutely delicious, reasonably priced as well! If you are visiting Marseille, you must go to Al Dente!

The food tastes like microwave food from a cheap supermarket. The wine a is cheap Italian wine but very pricy at this place! Nothing tastes Italian at all! The bar is run by a rude and miserable woman who doesn't care about customer service, as bad as the chef. I have been there twice, the first one was not pleasant and the second one was just to confirm this restaurant is a waste of time and money, Stay away1

It was not too busy, the waiter was very good. He went out of his way to explain the food, and made it into a great experience. The food was fenominal. Would definitely recommend.

We were staying at Hotel Music Hotel and we had noticed this very close restaurant earlier. We had eaten all French cooking prior to this meal. Waitress had some difficulty with English, but we managed in a very humorous way. The restaurant was slick and sharp in design and our meals were great. I had a penne with sausage dish. The "French Touch" referenced was the sauce/gravy was wonderful and a bit different than you might expect. Also, prices were right. Very good choice and we found this one on our own.

Yelp
We stayed in Marseille for 4 nights and this was our last night. We chose this restaurant based on reviews and we loved it! The owner was so hospitable and made us feel like we were home. Pasta was on par to many meals I've had in Florence, highly recommend this place is a must! Not a tourist trap!

Yelp
This is one of the best restaurant experiences that I have had so far in France. Our waitress was the nicest server that I have had so far in France, and was an absolute delight to talk to. The menu was a great value for the price, and the squid linguine was well worth what I paid for it. I would come back here in a heartbeat if given the chance, and would recommend this place to any of my friends!

Yelp
We arrived late for their lunch service and they only had lasagna to offer. It was sumptous.

Yelp
Al Dente est un restaurant italien dont le plat principal est les pâtes. Les plats sont très bons mais les prix augmentent au fur et à mesure des années! La déco est sympa mais on est vite dans la conversation d'à côté. Il est souvent plein! Pensez à réserver!

Yelp
Dinner for party of 4 on vacation. Below average setting and much worse pretend Italian food. Service: waitress would not tell us her name; when we asked her, she said ny name is "no name." Food: ordered artichoke hearts for appetizers - tasted like it came out straight out of the can. Dinners: Ravioli Pesto; Gnocchi Pesto and Osso Bucco veal with Gnocchi - the pesto sauce was straight pesto and too strong, raviolis were just ok, gnocchi's way too mushy. The Veal Osso Bucco was horrible, and that is being polite. Veal tasted old and chewy, the tomato sauce was poor-man's version of stop & shop bottom shelf Ragu and tasted horrible. Any average Northeastern U.S. Italian Restaurant beats its quality by far. Lesson learned: even Italian food in France was bad) .. 7 out of 8 French restaurants in Paris and Marseille were just plain blah and food was about a 5-6 on a 10-scale, and non-quality whatsoever in main courses, although pastries were great-strongly recommend macarons). Stay away - far away .. And have a croissant instead!
