The 19 Best Solo Dining Spots In London

"A hop, skip, and a T-rex tail away from the Natural History Museum, Al Dente is a great little Italian restaurant we go to when we just want to hang out with our friends ‘cacio’ and ‘pepe’. It’s open from lunch until late and almost all of the pastas are under £15, which is impressive in a part of town—South Kensington—where dogs have their own manicurists. Get a seat at the bar, make eye contact with your handmade pasta, and have a chat with the friendly servers if you decide you do want human interaction after all. " - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

What a gem! Fantastic service, amazing fresh pasta and seafood. We ordered the linguine and clams special, the seafood linguine, the cacio e Pepe and the green feta salad. Everything was wonderful and reasonably priced. A must visit if staying in the South Kensington area

Such a fantastic little spot in South Kensington! Went to Al Dente last night with a friend and absolutely loved everything about it from the food to the vibe and the lovely staff. The place has such a warm, welcoming energy cozy, authentic, and full of character. I had the clam pasta, which was beautifully cooked and packed with flavor fresh, light, and just perfect. Also the prettiest dessert .The drinks were great too, and the service was so friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Honestly, a total gem for pasta lovers. Can’t wait to come back and try more dishes from the menu. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and looking for a proper Italian experience!

I had lunch at AL DENTE South Kensington, and it was a truly wonderful experience. The food was very delicious, with authentic Italian flavors clearly present in every dish. I ordered the following items: • Linguine Red Prawns • Penne Arrabbiata • Tiramisu • Bread Basket I would like to sincerely thank the waitress Shweta for her excellent service, clear explanation of the menu, and her kind assistance in helping me choose halal options. Her warm smile and professional attitude made me feel very welcome and added a special touch to the whole experience. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant for anyone looking for authentic Italian cuisine and outstanding service.

The food at Al Dente was absolutely divine. I had the truffle pasta and my friend had the seafood linguine. Both dishes were absolutely amazing, and decently portioned. We were both stuffed and even had to take a to-go bag lol. The service was also so lovely. The waiters were so attentive and even tailored our order to fit our preferences, which I thought was so considerate. The ambience also very fitting for a date night or even just for catch ups with the girls. I’ll definitely look to visit their other locations too as I had the best time. Would definitely recommend!! :)

This cozy Italian restaurant serves authentic Italian food and relaxed vibes. The waiters were engaging and very knowledgeable about the menu. Though the restaurant was full, it sometimes felt as if we were the only diners there such was their service and attention to our needs. As a starter, we tried the mozzarella roulade, which was on as a special and had a ham and pesto filling. It was delicious and popular with our children. We also ordered the lasagne, spagettoni alla carbonara, ravioli al dente and paccheri alla boscciaola. All cooked to perfection and full of flavour. We were too full for dessert, but I had to order the zuppe inglese (literary translates to English soup), also on as a special, as I had never tried this before. It was like a tiramisu, but with different layers. Again, it was so good, the children, who originally didn't want dessert, took it off me. We would definitely visit again. I would advise you book in advance. We didn't, but were lucky enough to arrive as a table had finished.
