"Al Fassia, helmed by Saïda Chaab and her family, has been run entirely by women since it opened in 1987, as much a rarity then as it is now. For nearly as long, the restaurant has been hailed as the place to eat in the city. Start with the pastilla, a baked phyllo pie stuffed with chicken or pigeon meat, onions slow-cooked with creamy eggs, almonds, and powdered sugar. Then dig into one of the more unusual tagines, like chicken with caramelized pumpkin or beef with almonds, shallots, and rice. Al Fassia has a location in Agdal, but the one in Gueliz boasts a better ambience and more consistent quality from the kitchen. [$$$]" - Amanda Ponzio-Mouttaki

"I’d been told that I had to order mechoui from the restaurant Al Fassia in advance, and thank goodness for the tip. The slow-roasted lamb, cooked in their all-women kitchen, was beyond melt-in-the-mouth perfection."

Simply some of the best food I tasted in Morocco!! Everything we ate felt like the chef had put in years of learning and love. This is food that is unpretentious, humble and hits all the right notes. Our stomach and hearts were content after this meal. It was bit just the food that deserves praise. The service does too. They squeezed us in even though we had not made a reservation. We are very thankful they did!!

Despite quite a few tourists groups being here, the quality of the food is still top notch. The service was super efficient too. Worth a visit if in Marrakech, even if it is one of the more pricey options

Very famous for its authentic traditional Moroccan dishes. The selection of salads were delicious and tasty however the fish tagine was far better than the chicken tagine. The ladies did a great job welcoming and serving us during the night. Family friendly. Recommended.

Hands down the best Moroccan meal we had in Marrakech. The food is sensational. If you want to know what iconic Moroccan dishes are meant to taste like, this is the place. I’ll never forget the seafood pastilla and chicken tagine with lemon and olives. Just wow. The restaurant is run entirely by women - and it’s a must-visit.

Haven’t been previously very disappointed with food in general in Marrakesh, this place was a great find. I would easily say that it was the only place that actually had food with some flavour during our entire day in this city. Prior to this most of the food was bland or too salty. Which made me wonder what do they do with all those spices they sell in the markets.

This restaurant is a must when you visit Morocco. It was previewed by Andi Oliver, the acclaimed TV chef and broadcastor on one of her shows. It is cooked by ladies and served by ladies. The food is authentic, delicious Moroccan food and the portions are good. The restaurant caters for indoor and outdoor eating. The ambience outside is tranquil.

The food : Wow! (We had lamb tagine with prunes and with smoked aubergine) Both delicious but the one with aubergine even more so 😋 Would definitely recommend. The atmosphere feels very intimate so great for couples. Staff very attentive and nice! Couldn't fault it!
