Al Fresco I never would have known existed had my Mom not told me about it from having lunch there. Located at the Par 3 golf course in Palm Beach just down the street from Lake Worth Beach, Al Fresco has a very regal charm about it, with its colonial-styled exterior and interior layout. While the building itself serves those who use the golf course on the first floor, the second floor where Al Fresco is located has a great menu for brunch, lunch, and dinner. Despite only having the former, the meals I have had there are treats.
With its second-floor balcony perfect for romantic and family dining as it overlooks the Atlantic Ocean past the golf course, Al Fresco has several great dishes on the menu. The "Golfballs" are delicious. A veal and beef variation, these meatballs are tasty and tantalizing, especially served with the spicy tomato and herbed ricotta. The Picatta Al Limone is also very good in a lovely white wine and lemon-caper sauce, while their Gnocchi Al Gorgonzola is fantastic with the gorgonzola sauce. The absolute standouts are the Lamb Chops and Risotto Al Funchi, which if you are looking for a full, satisfying meal, will not be disappointed. Both are my absolute favorites. I had their fig bread pudding (at least I think it was figs) for dessert most recently, and it was soooooooo satisfying.
While the inside of the restaurant on the second floor is in the vain of a traditional, New England-styled clubhouse bar and lounge (where you can also order food, as well as drinks), the outside dining is where you want to be. While you can walk in and ask for availability with seating, it is best recommended to call for reservations (can't remember if you can do that online).
If you're looking to have a really nice dinner with family or take someone out for a date, Al Fresco is where to go.
