What to Order at Houston’s Newest Moroccan Restaurant, Alhambra Cafe - Eater Houston

"Alhambra Cafe, recently opened by Chef Hicham Nafaa, fills a gap in Houston's dining scene with a vibrant array of Moroccan dishes. It offers a casual dining experience with entrée prices capped at $19.99. The restaurant is known for its traditional Moroccan dishes such as pastilla, tagine, and sausages. The menu also features unique off-menu items that have gained popularity through social media. The venue is characterized by its Old World charms, including a baker who prepares fresh bread daily." - Alice Levitt

Very good food. Friendly staff and they have Shisha, if you're so inclined. You can get some specialties here, like Bistilla, that you won't get anywhere else. The yogurt (tzatziki) is especially lovely. If you can handle the shisha smoke, you are in for a treat.

It is a nice place except they allow people to smoke inside which I hate it. Foods were good but not the best. Good luck.

Good food and great service. I had a fantastic experience here and although our waiter was busy, he took the time to explain the dishes to us. After dinner we tried some of the desserts and tea which I highly recommend

I'm so excited to finally have a Moroccan restaurant in Houston!!! Had the Lamb and Prune Tajine and it was spectacular. The sauce had the perfect balance of salty, sweet and pungant. The meat was incredibly tender, falling off the bone and was served siziling hot. Nice looking inside, and they serve hookah as well as having a range of Mediterranean classics on the menu. One star left off for somewhat inattentive service. Never refilled my drink and had to get up and ask to pay. Small concerns as they were very friendly and helpful, just felt like in a table service restaurant, you really shouldn't have to ask for those things. All in all I definitely recommend you try them out. Perhaps with more time open and practice the service will become more attentive. They certainly have the friendliness down!!!

Worst place in Houston. Unfriendly staff. Takes FOREVER. Limited choices for the buffet. it was one of the worse dining experiences I've ever had, the food was so bad and untasty. the service was terrible, and the employees were as rude as can be, the most unprofessional customer service ever. I believe one star enough for this place, I wish i could give 0 stars. Also, it's TOO expensive for the bad quality of the food. I paid $50 for two Araes and Humass, which is worth less than $10 and my friends paid $44 for the bad buffet.

I'd give this 6 stars. The food is fabulous and the service is terrific. If you live in or near Houston, do yourself a favor and go there. If you are looking for an excuse to go to Houston on a visit, you've now got one! Be sure to get the pastilla, it is the best thing I've ever eaten. Come hungry and finish with some Moroccan tea.

The Chicken Tajime? Was nothing special. It was basically minor amount of spices on a chicken that was in the oven. I could easily make this at home. The rest of the meal was just a load of fries so I wasn't that impressed. There was some chicken pastry as an appetizer that was pretty good though? 3 stars just because service was good and I didn't get to try much other items.
