We visited Al Kostat del Mar to celebrate a special occasion. Having read mixed reviews beforehand, I was admittedly a little skeptical, but from the moment we arrived it was clear this place is something special.
Originally, I imagine, a private residence, the building has been transformed into a boutique hotel full of character and charm. The restaurant, set in a quiet courtyard with an open kitchen where guests can watch the action, provided the perfect backdrop for our celebration.
From the start, the Front of House team made us feel completely at ease. The gentleman who welcomed us was kind, funny, knowledgeable, and made us feel as if we were regulars—despite it being our first visit.
As for the food, it was simply sublime. The bread service alone set the tone for the evening: warm, fresh bread paired with exquisite Arbequina olive oil and Maldon salt, attentively replenished throughout. The truffled bikini croquetas and Cesar croquetas were some of the best I’ve had in years—utterly memorable. Courgette flowers filled with langoustines drew praise all around the table, while the mollejas, rice, and entrecôte were prepared to absolute perfection.
The à la carte menu is short, but don’t be discouraged—the kitchen knows exactly what it’s doing and excels in every dish. This is a restaurant where less truly is more.
In every way, our evening was exceptional, and Al Kostat del Mar made our celebration one to remember.
