Probably one of the best fish dishes Ive ever had. Wanted to try it in Dubai before, but every time they were sold out there, was shocked I was going to tru this in Nashville lol. We also tried a few other dishes like the liver, and chicken potato stew. Everything was so good and reasonably price. There is also a supermarket and halal butcher connected to the restaurant which is nice.

Terrible customer service at the restaurant side. Bad manner server and disrespectful to customers as I witnessed on my first visit. The fellow would not listen to you and basically wants you out of his face and disrespected a sister ordering her food and then when it was my turn he did the same. Screw the food, when they are disrespecting the Muslim customers that simply wants to order the food. In Islam, if you disrespect others especially your customers, than your store is not halal.

This spot has been running for 25 years for a reason. Don’t let the lack of Yelp reviews fool you. I’ve been hitting up every local spot in Nashville and this was the single best plate of food I’ve had. Super affordable and the flavors were spectacular. Great variety and a beautiful staff working there. Such a pleasure getting to know these folks and I look forward to coming back to this spot.

Fantastic food from Iraq and other Mediterranean options. Very cool little market behind the restaurant. Downside is no one speaks English but they are friendly..

The food is delicious, but the service is lacking when I visit. It's a predominantly male environment, and I often feel scrutinized as a woman. Despite this, I continue to dine there for the food, but it doesn't feel welcoming to women. It takes me 10 minutes to place a to-go order and male clients are serviced before me. Good food but traditional old world customs! The younger workers are friendly.

I was searching for a Halal restaurant and also something new. The entrance is on the side and it leads to a market. You have to walk through the market and choose your drink in the market and then go and order. You pay for everything as you leave. The food was good. I showed up at about 730 or so and the guy there said if I had gotten there earlier they would have more of a selection. He said they have kebab every day and I'm curious to try and make it there early to see what else they had. They had three types of rice, and at the time of my visit, they had a lamb shank and chicken. I definitely will return. After eating I browsed the market and bought some items. You pay for everything after. Good to support local businesses.

I tried the rip eye with the fat melt in top of that mean omg it was hard to believe what's going to come out . Extremely delicious food and best guys

First of all thank you mr. ali . Besides everything else you are a amazing and gorgeous person brother and i like how you treat everyone with smile. And me and my friends and family love the food its super delicious and i like the prices God wiling of whatever you do, you deserve more than 5 stars I love their food and the best products, and i been coming here for over 13 years and i just wanted to write a beautiful review because its worth everything in this gorgeous market allah bless.

The flavors are incredible, and very different from anything else around here. The soups are especially good. I tried the spinach soup (!) and the lentil soup -- they both blew me away. The rotiserrie chicken is probably the best in town -- smoky, moist, marinated with a tang. I'm going back.

I ordered grilled chicken on charcoal.. it was well done, perfect spices, it comes with rice. I also ordered grilled sea bass on charcoal. It was tasty, perfectly cooked. They also have Kebab, lamp shank and different soup. I highly recommended and will back gain whenever I visit Nashville.

I just love this little place, the owners are always very welcoming and attentive. The food is the very best for I can't get enough the only reason I stop is that I will overeat and then have a weight problem. Every single time I arrive in Nashville I will make a beeline to this place. My co-workers who are Iraqi American's say it's just like home cooking in Iraq. Really the food is very very good and just makes you feel so much better than if you eat a burger or taco and the cost is no more than what you could payout at a burger or taco joint. Qusay, Fareed and Hani and Nabeel we all love it and will be back each time when in Nashville. I wish this market and restaurant was located in the greater Portland Oregon and Vancouver Washington area. It's better than any Arabic Market or Restaurant we have here

Been here a few times and I like it. Wife does not. Portions are huge so feel free to order a half meal. Owner is from southern Iraq so it's a little different from much of the "middle eastern" food in the area which is Kurdish (northern Iraq). The lamb can be a little fatty but I really like it anyway.

I thought this place was quite delicious, although I have to admit that this is my first time having tasted Iraqi cuisine so I have nothing to use for a basis of comparison. However, one of the coworkers who accompanied me here has spent a number of years in Iraq and said that the food at this restaurant was every bit as good as the home cooking he remembered there. The restaurant itself is cafeteria-style, with quite a large selection of things to pick from. There were quite a few assorted beef and lamb dishes, as well as both white and saffron rice to accompany your selections. There were also a few dishes using chicken, as well as chicken livers. In addition, they offer absolutely delicious char-grilled kabobs, and you should probably go ahead and order two because you'll wish you had if you only ask for one. The food is inexpensive and the portions are absolutely huge for their combo platter. I wasn't even able to finish all of mine. The woman behind the counter explained that they change their offerings pretty much every day. She was extremely friendly and was happy to explain what all the different food selections were, and she even let me pick smaller servings of a larger number of items just so I could try a few new things. After you pick your meats and rice, they add some fresh vegetables and some absolutely amazing fresh-baked flatbread, as well as a bowl of soup. I had the lentil soup, which was absolutely fantastic. Attached to the restaurant is a rather well stocked little grocery store where you can buy quite a few interesting things, including packages of the delicious bread they serve with their platters. The prices in the store are incredibly reasonable; I bought a huge box of premium loose-leaf ceylon tea for about $5, and a couple of the people who accompanied me bought the large packages of that freshly baked bread for less than $3. The food is delicious, the prices are great, and the staff couldn't possibly be friendlier or more helpful. I'm definitely going to be coming back here!

Got take out from the buffet at lunch time. I'm happy there are some vegan options. Everything tasted fine. Got a big to-go box full of food for only $10. Not bad.

I had been hesitant about going because of a Yelp review that said it was recommended women be accompanied by a man. Hogwash, on my 2nd trip, I went with a female friend plus there were two young Middle Eastern women there unaccompanied (although with scarves on). And the fear of being thrown out because of my dress was entirely unwarranted since I also saw Middle Eastern women in western clothes (no scarves) on my first trip. First trip: I opted to go with a male friend. For $11 I got - my choice of 3 styles of rice (plain, with saffron or with meat or veggies), 2 dishes (an eggplant stew & a spicy beef dish), roasted potatoes & carrots, my choice 4 soups, Iraqi flat bread that looked very similar to naan), a small salad and a drink. It was enough to feed two people. They had bottles of sriracha on every table which I thought was funny. Obviously, the Thai people stumbled onto something amazing and universal. Second trip: Awesome lunch with a female friend, we got there just as the food was coming out. One gentleman let us take a picture of his family's breakfast made fresh consisting of a delicious looking Iraqi omelette, veggies with chicken livers. I personally don't like liver but the omelette looked so good I may have to order it. For the same $11, I got the "melt in your mouth" curried beef, chicken with peppers and roasted eggplant & tomatoes, pita bread, soup & salad. My friend took home half her meal plus two lamb shanks cooked in two different styles of sauce ($4 each) for lunch during the week. I would highly recommend this place. The food is cafeteria style. You should buss your own tables, but that's a small price to pay for the flavor and quality.... I have been there a couple times since but won't bore you with the details. I'm going back soon.

If you're really into fairly in expensive authentic Iraqi Food, then this place is for you! It's awesome. They have a bakery in the back, a mini supermarket with all kind of Middle Eastern products, and a fast foodish restaurant in the front. This place is it is truly a hole in the wall kind of place. The second you enter you'll be surrounded by very ethnically cultured Iraqis. If you want to see what people in Iraq eat, how they eat, act, socialize, dress go to Al Rasoul restaurant! I haven't been in that kind of environment in 19 years. I felt very nostalgic. The bakery makes fresh Iraqi style bread, which they sell in their mini market as well. The supermarket sells fruits/ vegetables, spices, hookas, meats, and other household items that any Middle Eastern kitchen/home needs. If you plan to go to the restaurant It's best if you guys go as a group (2 or more) so you can try a variety of dishes. I would NOT take a "date" there, it's not that kind of place. As for the ladies out there, go there with at least a guy, otherwise you will feel very awkward. It seems more of a guy hangout spot. I did see a very ethnic family with kids though. People there were generally very friendly and helpful. They don't have a menu. All the food is placed out, cafeteria style and you pick what you like. It's fairly in expensive too. I had a really good kabob sandwich for $2.99. You can have a HUUUUUGGGGGGE combination platter for $6.99. If you like the Middle Eastern style kabobs, they will sell each kabob for $1. I think they're perfect to take to parties/events. They're way better than taking hamburgers and hotdogs. Usually a kabob skewer goes for over $5 at a restaurant. In terms of seating, they had 4 booths by the wall, and 4 tables in the center. It was packed when I went there Christmas day for late lunch. Like any hole in the wall place, don't expect it be sparkling clean. I think the lack of décor and the backward feel of the place adds to its charm! Being there will really feel like you stepped outside of North America for some time. For those of you who like to travel and experience different ethnic food you'll not regret going there. For the quality of the food (authentic dishes and taste) and the price, it a very good fast foodish joint. Will I go back? I CAN'T WAIT TO TRY THE OTHER DISHES!

This place was just pretty gross all around. It looked like it was a construction site and not a restaurant. The floors were pulled up in places and there were holes in the ceiling where wires were coming through. There was a room that at one point may have been a patio but looked like someone started demolition and left in the middle, never to return. The food looks like it was cooked a long time ago and has just been sitting in steam trays for a very long time. Possibly cooked and then re-heated and put back on the steam trays. The taste wasn't terrible, but with dirtiness of the space, I couldn't eat without imagining stuff falling from the ceiling into the food. The worst part was when we sat down to eat an employee immediately took out a mop bucket and began to clean the room we were in. It wasn't late at night (7pm) and I've never eaten in a spot where they clean up for the night while there are still customers. Anyway, the smell from the cleaner WAS SO STRONG AND OFFENSIVE that I lost my appetite and ran outside to "lose" the two bites of food I was able to choke down. I stayed outside of the place while my boyfriend settled up the tab. On the way home I had to pull over and became better acquainted with Nolensville road than I ever hoped to be. AVOID.

It's a store and a restaurant, but don't think Cracker Barrel. You should have an idea of what you want before you go, as you may end up being "served" by someone who has no command of English and no interest in overcoming that barrier. The folks up front (at the store) were appropriately nice, but when we made it clear we were looking for menu suggestions the ball was dropped. Had I not been starving we would have moved along.

After reading some not so nice reviews, i figured I would give my two cents about this place. I stumbled on this place by chance and adored it. Let me start by saying it's a store and a restaurant. I went to the back and was greeted not only by a super friendly employee but some incredibly delicious smelling food. The man behind the counter was so kind and explained what everything was and was more than happy to recommend what I might like. Once I'd finally decided, he gave me MORE than generous portions and even gave a few helpings of other things to just try. I excitedly sat down and was over joyed with how yummy all the food was! I really can't understand the poor ratings on here because I thought this place was an absolute delight and have been back several times and was never disappointed.

Home cooked food, lots of it. Take a steam table, fill it with all kinds of mixed foods and you have a cafeteria. Went here for a meal and was very surprised that the place existed. You won't find rare or MR meat here.. You will find meat with vegetables cooked together until the meat falls off the bone. Comfort food. Original, Iraqi food, cooked the way it is cooked (so I am told) in Iraq. The place is clean, has groceries, cheeses, no butter... I may try this place again, but there are so many other places to go. Nothing is heavily spiced, it's just Iraqi comfort food. One plate full of food, a bottle of water, and lots of smiles will cost you about $10. The plate is filled to the brim. HUGE portions. Yeah, it's a hole in the wall, but obviously they don't get 200 diners a day.. If you're into ethnic food, besides the food trucks on Nolensville Rd, go check out this place. You won't leave hungry! You will waddle out.

Went here on international food crawl and it was fantastic. The dolmades, the falafel, the beef - everything was delicious. The family who owns it were there and were very friendly. I can't wait to go back

"Authentic Iraqi Food" As non-political as I wish i could make this review and only focus on food, theres no way I can avoid it. I would be doing a great disservice to the people who make this restaurant & market such a great experience. The genuine hospitality of the staff at Al Rasoul is exactly like what I encountered from an extensive majority of Iraqi citizens that I had the pleasure of meeting while serving my country over a number of years as an Infantryman in the 101st. This low key, off the map, Iraqi restaurant & market has THE most authentic Iraqi food I have ever had outside Iraq proper. I was absolutely amazed at how the food tasted, it was exactly like what I had during my 2 separate years. Except for the big bottle of "Ranch" dressing on every table. I was really hoping for "Al-Faihq Sauce" date and vinegar sauce. Please!! Somebody get it imported here, its amazing on kabobs!!!!! The restaurant side offers a cafeteria style selection of Iraqi entrees. It includes traditional stews/ soups, braised chicken, kibbeh (Iraqi beef filled hushpuppies), lamb shanks, and of course true char grilled Kabob (fatty and awesome)! You have a choice of two styles of rice. White or yellow. Yellow has a veggies. You also get a side of salad with the plate. Prices are set like a meat and 3, but way more reasonable for the amount of grub you get. The market has an awesome selection of middle eastern specific imports. The produce and meat selection are very impressive as well. The one thing that stands out is the bakery. Located at the opposite side of the restaurant. The star of the bakery is the "Hobus" or unleavened flat bread thats flat, round, a lil smokey and perfectly pliable for scooping food. Its Exactly like what I lived off of during my time there. I can honestly say that this is a place "ONLY FOR PEOPLE WHO KNOW" what they're getting themselves into. It is as authentic as you can get when it comes to an Iraqi dining experience. If you are having a hard time finding it then contact me and I'll give you a 10 digit grid! LOL.
