A Peruvian Pop-Up Is Opening Its First Restaurant in Oceanside | Eater San Diego

"A roving pop-up specializing in Peruvian food is opening its first restaurant in Oceanside; founders Stephan Garcia, Rhandy Heredia, and Angelo Luna have spent the past three years operating Al Toque Peruvian Kitchen out of a trailer, parking Thursday through Sunday at Five Suits Brewing in Vista and posting up at various spots throughout San Diego the rest of the week. Their menu includes Peruvian classics like lomo saltado, a Peruvian beef stir-fry with onions, tomato, and French fries that Al Toque makes with ribeye steak, and ceviche marinated in lime juice with rocoto peppers and served with the traditional accompaniments of boiled corn, sweet potato, and cancha (toasted corn nuts). The new 2,500-square-foot storefront will enable the partners to expand the menu and will feature flatscreen TVs, games, and a bar pouring draft beer and wine. Al Toque plans to continue its weekly pop-up at Five Suits while using the trailer for catering and events, and the partners say they hope to open at least six or seven more restaurants in the San Diego area." - Candice Woo

Let me start off by saying that this place is absolutely amazing! We came to celebrate my sister’s birthday and we were encountered with the best service ever from Bader. Not only was he our server but also the chef!! You definitely taste the love in the food and overall the environment and energy he gave us felt like we were at home. Told us that whenever we stop by it’ll be like visiting family and it really meant a lot! Definitely coming back ☺️

I’ve never had Peruvian food and I just want to say it did not disappoint. Food was great! Presentation was just as impeccable and service was nothing like I’ve ever had before! You really feel like you’re in a close friend/ family’s home when dining here! The owners are very hands on and interact with the guest along with the food being equally as good! Overall, experience/ food was great and would definitely come back again!

This is the best Peruvian food I've eaten in my life. Both the ceviche and Loma Saltado are divine. The service was impeccable and the server was extremely courteous and attentive. I highly recommend this superior good experience.

One of the best new eats around SoCal for sure! My new favorite Peruvian restaurant no doubt! Just walking in you're greeted with the most welcoming faces and atmosphere! The chicha was super refreshing the sauces were flavorful! The first bite of the calamar frito with the side salad was so fresh tasting with the perfect saltiness and crunch! The Lomo Saltados didn't differ as it was cooked perfectly! Fired were crunchy like I like them, the beef was medium rare, the vegetables were cooked too perfection with still a little bit of crunch. Will most definitely come back again and bringing the whole family!

This place was outstanding!l Not only was the food exceptional the service was top tier. I truly enjoyed my whole experience there. All the guys who work there are some of the most down to earth, kind, humble and fun guys. We laughed and enjoyed ourselves, I really felt welcomed like if I was one of them. You can definitely believe I will be back. I highly recommend this place!

Had a great experience with my family. Restaurant is family run and you can tell the dedication they put into their work. It was my first time trying Peruvian food and the waiter made excellent recommendations. The food was amazing, well seasoned, fresh. Overall amazing experience. When we told the waiter we came for my birthday he immediately brought out some Alfajores on the house which were to die for… HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS SPOT… Best Peruvian food in San Diego

Had the best night with friends at Al Toque. It was our monthly get-together and this spot was the perfect choice. The food was phenomenal, from the appetizers to the main dishes. You can taste the love in every bite. The team there made us feel so welcomed. It’s not often you get food and service at this level. Randy was the best. We’ll be back soon.

This place is SO GOOD. Super flavorful and authentic. I had the mar y Tierra chaufa and it was nothing short of amazing. We are from Temecula area and I will absolutely be making the drive back here just for this food. The service was wonderful as well, friendly, welcoming and super attentive. I wish I got a better photo but I started scarfing it down the second it got to the table and I tasted it lol. I’d give them 10 stars if I could!
