The place is now under new management. The menu got revisited with fresh, simple, perfectly delivered food coming from local recipes and the freshly-caught fish of our magnificent Adriatic Sea! Professional and friendly service. Great location. A must try!

We visited here on a Saturday night. Our last night in Italy. It was easily the most expensive meal we ate as a family either here or in Rome. We wanted it to be good but it was thoroughly average in every way. The prawns (both starter & main) were definitely frozen. The meat main dish was dreadful. The highlight was a genuinely fantastic sea bream with salt crust (the one truly good thing on the menu). The selection of fried fish also had a distinctive frozen feel to it. We had a selection of desserts and most were very very average. So the meal was OK. But for that price in that setting it should have been far better. Much better restaurants down the coast in Tollo. Disappointing.

We arrived late into Ortona after a mostly delightful 12 hour drive from the San Gimignano area. A great and picturesque drive on small highways and back roads.||||We had a reservation for the hotel associated with the restaurant that we walked into at about 9:00. From the street the Ristorante al Vechio Teatro is very 'unassuming' but as you walk through the door and enter the main seating area you realize you are in (in the daytime) a sunny space with a view of Ortona's harbour and the Adriatic,||||By this time I think we would have been happy with any quality of food. What we got was both excellently prepared and served. With apologies I don't recall the names of the dishes but as a starter we had a small pickled fish about the size of an anchovy. This was followed by small shrimp sautéed with bacon in a light sauce. My main was a tuna steak with mushrooms (sounded a bit different on the menu but the tuna was cooked to rare perfection) and the Boss had a sautéed breaded sea bass she was still talking about (in positive terms) the next day. Dessert was a shared limoncello dessert - more of a drink actually - that was a nice finish.||||Wine was an excellent Pinot Grigio from Abruzza. Abruzza seems known of this grape||||The young lad serving us was very attentive and professional.||||Off to bed. We were offered Room #1 across the street and up the stairs - essentially a one bedroom suite very clean and nicely decorated with both air conditioning and a 'Euro-kitchen'. (The street below was very quite through the night.)||||Breakfast the next morning was a delicious continental.||||One regret we both have is that we never got the name of the gentleman owner/manager who treated us so kindly and who introduced us to basilico (think of it as limoncello but with basil instead of lemons) and sent us packing with a bag of extra cherries for the road.||||The room and the meal were both excellent value||||What a wonderful experience.

The place was absolutely empty and yet they put us in a table in the back alleging "it's-a-full-e". Many tables remained empty all night until we left. They must have a serious ghost reservation problem. Food was average and the prices slightly above average. The view can only be seen during the day and only by the front two tables. There are way better restaurants in the area.

I had a perfectly wonderful stay at the hotel and had some excellent meals at the restaurant. The view there is sensational. My hosts, Armando and Danielle, were very sweet and kind; I felt very welcome. My room was recently renovated in an extremely tasteful way, with luxurious touches. The powerful AC was very much appreciated at the end of August. The town of Ortona is just lovely. I could not recommend the hotel or restaurant more highly.

If you re not careful while driving you will quickly miss this location and also miss a beautiful experience.||||The family who runs this B&B has a restaurant just across the street and both are excellent in quality and service. We arrived by bike in front of the door Easter Monday and a little too late to join the Easter Monday lunch crowd. But that was not a problem. We were ushered quickly into our room, checked in our bikes on the first floor, had a quick shower and rushed to the restaurant to have a complete lunch in comfort, joy and ultimate friendliness of the family.||||Our room was on the third floor, with a very large roof balcony and one and a half floor space. What is more, in Easter time it is still very cold but the room was heated very satisfactorily according to our wish. A generosity of the owners which is unusual in Italy.||||This is friendly and comfortable place to stay and we recommend it for solo and family stays.

We, two couples shared the top floor apartment at this venue. It was clean and spacious with a great roof verandah|| We ate in the restaurant across the road, and managed to make ourselves understood, with our limited Italian. The views of the harbour from the restaurant were wonderful. We needed to do some washing and a drying rack was provided for us. The owners arranged transport for us to come and collect us from the raiway station and take us back there on our last day.We had a very pleasant 2 night stay here.

This boutique B&B is in a historic building that has been restored with modern facilities but still keeping the artful decor of the old times. Very spacious, clean room with living room and a well-equipped kitchenette. Wifi worked extremely well, which is not often as we travelled around Italy. The owner is a very lovely couple who also manage the restaurant, which should not be missed. We would like to return next time.
