al42 by Pasta Chef rione Monti

Might be the best pasta I have ever had in my life! We had the Tagliolini al pesto and the Ravioli ricotta e spinaci for I Primi and Spigola alla Marinara for I Secondi. The tagliolini was very tender and flavorful with all the pesto sauce on it. The sauce was fresh and not too heavy. The ravioli was heavenly good! The fish was fresh. Both take away and dine in have to wait outside in queue until the staff call you in. Will come back again the next time I am in Rome!

Amazing place in the heart of the Monti district! We tried the mushroom pasta, vegetarian lasagna, and tiramisu — everything was absolutely delicious. You can really taste the quality of the ingredients and the passion for Italian cuisine. The atmosphere is very cozy and welcoming. We were extremely satisfied and would definitely come back. The owner was extremely friendly and welcoming—he even spoke a bit of Chinese, which really helped us understand the menu better. The pasta was made with authentic handmade noodles, and every flavor paired with rich, flavorful cheese, creating a truly perfect texture and taste. Although the restaurant isn’t very large, it has a cozy and warm atmosphere. The prices are moderate, and the portions are quite generous. Highly recommended!

Finally a place where you can feel at home and I'm not exaggerating at all. Service, hospitality, taste, welcome, atmosphere, kindness is something you will find in this small but equally beautiful place. The gentleman at the entrance full of energy and friendliness, something that honestly made our day! The food is amazing, made with love, so delicious. If you want to eat authentic Italian cuisine, you don't need a second thought. We recommend it 1000% We tried the lasagna and fetticcine, chocolate cake and tiramisu. Hands down this is the best pasta I’ve ever had. The al42 salad was fresh and decadent. Vegetables were crisp and the cheese was fresh and amazing. The Tagliolini al pesto was super fresh and light, the pesto is homemade (unlike other Trattorias) it’s full of flavour and you can taste it. Simply amazing. The Fettuccine al porcini was out of this world. The porcini mushrooms were amazing, the sauce and the cheese on top just completed the dish like a match in heaven. Thank you, I will be back for more.

Just go there and thank me later! Its the best pasta you will find. Outside you will be welcomed by the headchef and he wil give you a intro and a explanation how you order.he is a great character and very hospitaly.he will give you a seat when you order.you will get a ticket with a order number. When you hear your number.you can collect your food at the bar There is no table service. Its a nice small place .with a great vibe. Its our third time whe visit here and the pasta always amazed us. This time we ate pasta Alfredo, Carbonara and a tiramisu Whe only travel to rome if pasta chef is included in the trip. Stand in line and trust the proces! You will come back for more!

After reading some reviews, had high expectations - that unfortunately did not match, and was a average experience (at it's best). I arrived early, already had a client queue, we were welcomed in the street by the manager (maybe owner) and he was friendly. After 25/30min, we started to feel that everything was meticulous and exageratedly controlled, we entered, the space felt tight, seats at balcony a bit uncomfortable and almost a 'self service' system. No toilet (???). The pasta al ragú was ok, nothing special, portion somewhat short and just felt this "by Pasta Chef" whatever, just feels exaggerated and trying to sell something average as exceptional. Tiramisu was good. In the end just felt average or even mediocre. As portuguese, after this and other experiences, this reminds how good is our cuisine. I've already made and eat better pastas in my country. Generally comparing, in Portugal you'll have very generous and tasty quality protein such as grilled meat, big steak, traditional code fish, octopus "à lagareiro", with a variety of garnish, in a very generous portion, that would make you feel extremely satisfied - and with table service, toilet and without paying so much. Which in general they struggle to deliver despite fame. I strongly advise the manager to come to our country! Not even a comparision, and despite loving pizza and pasta, and considering some reviews here, its just hype. Nevertheless, not all was bad and love Italy.

The location of the restaurant is tucked away on a side street but highly recommend trying to find it. The atmosphere of the restaurant is lively and food seemed mostly made to order. A professional kitchen that has great customer service and the wait time for us was short due to showing up a bit early as the line can grow quite fast during lunch time. It was a great value for the money considering its all chef inspired cooked in the same area you would eat. I would return and recommend.
