The Best Middle Eastern Restaurants in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"Among the U District’s several bargain falafel-and-gyro joints, Aladdin Falafel Corner leads the pack by a nose. (It’s smaller but feels more comfortable than its older sibling down the Ave, Aladdin Gyro-cery.) The food is affordable, filling, and excellent, and is available for takeout and delivery via apps such as Grubhub." - Eater Staff

Google
Super affordable, though it does appear their prices have increased slightly since my visit last year. I got a gyro I would consider in the top 5 of what I've had and haven't been quite as impressed with many other offerings at other establishments since. I will say I'm not a big fan of tzatziki but don't think I missed much there because their garlic sauce I had instead has me caught in nostalgia at times with how much I miss it. Went with some friends and we'd been having some iffy luck on some of the other restaurants we'd been going to but were all pleasantly surprised with how much food we got and the quality.

Google
Decent food and Falafel was pretty good and we ordered chicken Shawarma and few others and over all it was decent

Google
Absolutely love this place I've been eating here for 20 plus years. First time I ate here the signs and menus weren't even in English! The absolute best Gyro's I have ever had... with a Middle Eastern twist... And that's the best part. More than once I've driven across the county just to get one..

Bilal Mohammed

Google
Mohammad was such a nice and kind man. He greeted me when I walked in and offered me some complimentary tea. I ordered the chicken Aladdin fries and man oh man they were delicious. He made them exactly how I asked. I’m looking forward to coming back and I hope I see Mohammad!

Google
Food, is very good, not spectacular or overly amazing, but very good and reliable. Prices are a bit high, but understandable in regards to the area. Service is kind and the place itself is clean, especially the bathroom. I wish they had hot sauce but otherwise no complaints.

Yvonne

Google
Just had the Aladdin Fries but it’s so delicious have to leave a review! The fries loaded with cheese. The beef on top is very flavorful and tender. Fries are perfectly cooked! Highly recommend!!

Jennifer

Google
I ordered the gyro combo 9A and the Greek fries. Absolutely phenomenal, the fries were the best I've ever had and the topping, was amazing. The gyro was delicious, well done. Nice little quaint eatery, hole in the wall kind of place, but wonderful, wonderful food.

Google
Delicious! Within the first couple bites me and my boyfriend where already muttering "oh my gosh!" Through full mouths. Absolutely dripping with flavour. We got the Aladin giros, and some orange soda. You know that foods good when conversation stops. All we wanted to do was taste, and that's really saying something because we're both known yappers. My boyfriend said "It starts at a ten, and keeps getting better." They should be charging a million bucks for this for how tasty it is. Very reasonable price tho for how much for you get. Great portion size, and we'll worth it. We initially came in here because we needed a restroom before eating, and the place we went to first didn't have a toilet. This was just good luck that we wandered in, but my biggest thanks goes to lady luck because this meal is SO GOOD! I'm still licking my fingers so I can get every last morsel. We will be coming back next time we're in Seattle.

Yelp
Excellent grab and go spot on the Ave. The falafel is *chef's kiss* perfection. The staff are lovely and seem to enjoy what they do which is make delicious food. Vegetarian options are clearly laid out on their menu. I like that they offer spicy or mild versions of their falafel wrap, which are robust and messy. While there are a few tables inside this small establishment, I prefer to take mine to go and enjoy as a little picnic. May this neighborhood staple see many more good years to come!

Yelp
Aladdin Falafel Corner is a hidden gem in Seattle's University District that serves up authentic Middle Eastern cuisine. Their signature Greek fries and gyro plates are must-tries. The restaurant has a warm and inviting atmosphere and the staff is friendly and welcoming. It's the perfect spot to grab a bite with friends, family, or even just yourself. Whenever we are in Seattle's University District this is a place we HAVE to stop by.

Yelp
I go a few times a year (although I prefer Aladdin's Gyro-cery just a few blocks south - I think both the food* and staff are better) and I'm generally pleased with the lamb and beef gyro. Not the best in the world, but at $10.05 it's hard to beat and close to campus! *I think the owners are cousins so I can imagine the recipes are the same - the gyros are definitely similar if not identical! But I still prefer the southern location.

Ariel C.

Yelp
I always get the dinner special and it always hits. Great portion for the price. Their hummus is the best I've ever had.

Yelp
One of my favorite places for shawarma, Greek fries, and wraps! If you're near the University and looking for an absolute flavor bomb, you cannot pass this place up. My favorite meals are the lamb & beef shawarma as well as the Aladdin fries. My partner loves the gyro, both come with the most flavorful sauces and fresh vegetables. Service is quick and easy, paying in cash is recommended but they also have card readers and contactless payment available. You can sit down in the dining area or take the food on the go! If you're in the area and craving something super flavorful and affordable, check this place out!

Yelp
Food was so good that I doubled back 2 days in a row!! I got the gyro with the lamb & beef with extra meat 9 (no cheese)...

Yelp
Best food ever just had their lamb gyro for the first time so good fast service affordable Welcoming staff

Yelp
This place seems to be related to Aladdin Gyro-cery a couple blocks away because they have the same menu. It's open late which is also a great thing for those late night cravings. There is a small area inside for seating and there are only a couple tables. I ordered the Aladdin fries ($10.90). The portions are really good for the price and the fries are loaded with lots of meat, sauce, and cheese. They are a great late night food after a night out and hits the spot. Note that they have a fee for credit cards (I think 50 cents?) so I ended up using cash. I would recommend using it too if you have it. This place is great at all times in the day and I'm going to keep continue coming back if I have a craving for fries late at night.

Yelp
Amazing falafel wrap, the best one probably I have had in seattle! Budget friendly. Mainly a takeaway place.
google avatar

Meralina M.

Yelp
This place is amazing. The food amazing. Great price as well. The freaking Aladdin fries with lamb and garlic sauce, pure perfection. A good hefty serving! I couldn't get enough. The plate also had a large portion of chicken and rice. The chicken was a little dry but super flavorful. The bread was good and so was the hummus. It came with a soda as well. Would definitely recommend this place :)
google avatar

Jay C.

Yelp
Delicious lamb falafel and great lunch deal! Owners are super nice! Will return if in the area.

Luca P.

Yelp
In my opinion, the best gyro/shawarma sandwiches on the ave. Mo is a fantastic server, and probably one of the kindest human beings you will ever meet (not to mention, he makes very good tea!). The restaurant itself is very comfy and well maintained as well!
google avatar

Kimberly O.

Yelp
We love this place! Best gyros ever. More seasoning on the meat than is normally seen. Delicious. One of the few places that don't buy their gyro meat already cooked and sliced. They cut it off of the skewer there.
google avatar

Nathyn C.

Yelp
I've lived in the UD for about a year and have tried many gyro restaurants, this one is hands down the superior pick. Not only are the portions amazing value, the gyro itself has texture and the most satisfying feeling when you eat it. The spices and vegetables balance out the savory flavors of the meat. It's something hard to find in a pseudo-fast food style restaurant which is normally greasy (especially if you get lamb). The place is also open late, and not as busy as it's mother location down the street. A quaint, quiet, friendly establishment that allows the food to speak for itself? What more could you want?
google avatar

Jeff H.

Yelp
Blog portion for decent price, food was a bit grease, good service however charges $0.50 for card fee
google avatar

Rahim K.

Yelp
Everything here is delicious and I come at least once a week for the gyros. It's good. Service was quick and I always get it to go bc I don't like to eat without AC - ambiance is very mom and pops. Go here you will enjoy it

Carter M.

Yelp
I opened this box of Aladdin Fries and it was caked and loaded to the top! Idk if they were just being homies at 1 am or what, but every time I've been here it's incredible I dream about this place
google avatar

Grace J.

Yelp
You guys already know the drill. Fast and to the point service, big portions, delicious food. Every bite was just perfect, and honestly, for the amount you pay, you get a huge gyro - and they're super generous with the amount of meat they include too!

Daniela R.

Yelp
The food here was amazing!!! I had the chicken gyro and I would highly recommend it. This was a little hole in the wall, but was amazing nonetheless. Friendly and extremely quick service!

Stephen D.

Yelp
Never had shawarma before but was in the area and saw the sign and decided to try it Was late I guess so not too busy, was relatively quick I ordered the lamb and beef shawarma and the garlic sauce fries and a chocolate baklava with tip around $20 Portions were large Food was ok, next time I would just get a gyro Only true disappointment was the baklava, it may have been the worst I have ever had A few weeks ago it might have been freshly frozen. I didn't expect it to compare with baklava in turkey but if should have been better than what you can order online
google avatar

Dee P.

Yelp
I'm so glad I came across this spot on my way to target because it was literally SO DELICIOUS. The flavours in every single dish were amazing. The lamb and beef were cooked to perfection, the salad was small but powerful and you won't be able to stop dipping the hummus. Will be back for sure !

Yelp
Came here for a late night snack right from the airport. Got their famous fries as advised by a friend, and I was not disappointed to say the least. While the main dining area was closed off due to COVID, the food came out incredibly quick and the staff was very considerate and kept a friendly conversation while we were waiting. Overall, the food was inexpensive but delicious. I can see why so many UW college students frequent this spot, especially late at night. Highly recommend for a quick eat, or if you're looking for something to satisfy your late night munchies.

Lama G.

Yelp
RUDE & SINOPHOBHIC: The older guy kept yelling 'CHINA!' and 'COVID' when I stopped by one late evening for some lamb gyros. I didn't understand the language he was yelling at, but those words were clearly audible. I think he intended for the words to be heard and understood. I wanted some lamb gyros but he said he's out of lamb so I ask for the chicken gyro. He seemed confused, when the younger cook said its number 10. He seemed angry that I didn't say number 10 and flicked his writs, gesticulating why I did not say number 10. Anyway, I said I have a credit card but he shook his head saying he did not accept credit cards. But the younger cook inadvertently said out loud that they did at the same time. So he ended up having to take my card, furiously swiping it against his machine thrice, before slapping the bill on the counter. The chicken gyro that he did eventually cook made me wish I'd just gone home and cooked some for myself. Would not recommend, and am certainly not going there anytime soon. Looks like the overall quality, not only that of the service but also the professionalism of the staff, and most importantly of the quality of the cooking has been on a terrible decline. With the heat, I imaging perishable improperly refrigerated spoil easily. The general cleanliness of the are could be further improved. Maybe that's why he's mad? Noe enough folks showing up so he has to give away a lot of food?
google avatar

Serena H.

Yelp
The beef and lamb gyro and shawarma were extremely greasy. The grease dripped off our our sandwiches and immediately coagulated in huge clumps. We only ate part of the sandwiches and dumped the rest. Good way to build plaque in your arteries.

Elijah A.

Yelp
Visited on 10/14 at 4pm and was disappointed to see the cashier place my food on a trash bin while I waited. I was seated just 6 feet away and the restaurant was not busy, with only two other customers. Could have easily handed me my order. On the plus side, the food was excellent.
google avatar

Koshik S.

Yelp
Absolutely loved this place! If you know me, you know that I love a good Falafel wrap and this place exactly provided us with that. Extremely popular amongst the students at U of Washington, the place is cheap and serves a good meal. Found the pita to be very fresh, great fillings inside the wrap and mouthwatering Falafels. Absolutely deserved the high rating it has. Please check it out if you are in the area.

Yelp
I expected more from this place based on reviews. Don't get me wrong, The food was good but not extraordinary. If you are around definitely worth trying. But I would not recommend anyone to go out of the way or drive a long distance to try it out. The chicken shawarma was tasty, but it could be a tad more spicy. The Greek fries were yummy but infused with lot of calories as expected. Overall I would say a decent place but not the best in town.
google avatar

Stephanie C.

Yelp
Aladdin fries are delicious! I cant wait you have them again. When I move to Seattle I will be eating here all the time. Staff was very friendly and service was quick. We were the first customer of the day.

Yelp
The staple for the late night drunchies and munchies here for college students at Uw Been a long time since I've been here- god the euro does not disappoint!

Yelp
Come here 2-3 times a week, Best Chicken Gyro sandwich in WA and their Aladdin fries just bomb! I'm just so addicted to their food :D Must try, staffs are very friendly too!

Yelp
This place know how to make real good food! We were supposed to go to place in ballard but when our uber driver recommended this restaurant to be his top Mediterranean restaurant in his opinion, we instead went straight there. This place is reasonably price, you'll get a lot of bang for your buck. We got their dinner special and a side of babaganoush.

Maya S.

Yelp
I stopped in for a quick bite tonight and ordered "Aladdin's Gyro". The man taking my order asked how many I wanted, and I was a little confused by this, so I just said "what?" He then looked me up and down and said, "you look like you could put away a few of these so I just thought I'd ask." I didn't know what to say. He then said, "it's fine it's fine I'll cut one in half for you." Are you serious? Body shaming customers is a bad look. It didn't help that as I walked out he said, "I'm kidding! I'm kidding! Fat girls can't take a joke?" I am mortified and humiliated and (needless to say) never going back. Edit on 6/9/23: I received the following message via my DMs from the owner: -- Hi, I am Ali the owner of this Aladdin's. I am sorry about the experience you had to go through and was shocked when I read the review. Please if you can help me with which location since there are two on the ave this one is next to the target on the 45th and the other location that is next boba up which is my cousins. Please if you know what time and day it happened around and what the guy looked like (I will go back on the cameras), he will for sure be fired. I will also refund what you paid for if it is in my location. I will also call my cousin if it is in his location. Please if you can help me and my small business make it right. I am really sorry again for this bad behavior and attitude you experienced. -- I am uncomfortable with giving this information as 1. My goal is not to get anyone fired, I just want you to be aware of my terrible experience. 2. Sending a private apology for a public humiliation is pretty disappointing, if you have something to say to me, say it here. 3. My opinion remains unchanged

Yelp
We've ordered from this place for delivery a few times recently and every order has been shorted items. We've never received our full order- not even once- and follow up complaints and requests for our missing items go unanswered. Never again. There are hundreds of places that actually want your business and won't ignore you once they screw you over. I think that all of this is intentional. Every item sold that isn't delivered is fraud and theft and they just chalk it up to profit. No restaurant staff can be this sloppy unintentionally. Never ordering anything from this place ever again. This time, the man on the phone just swore that he had made the correct order, along with with the missing items, and that we needed to take it up with Doordash. So long, jerky.
google avatar

Jun Li Z.

Yelp
Ordered from this place for takeout! I got the chicken kabob and the order was quick and just wonderful on the palate when you eat it. Their naan was delicious and I had to stop myself from eating all of my dinner (as I was already full) so that I could save the rest for lunch the next day. I would order from here again and try their other meats! The sauces were on point! One small thing - I wish the chicken were a bit more tender! Wonderful job!
google avatar

Samantha S.

Yelp
5 stars for taste, 3 stars for presentation. I thought the food was arrranged sloppily, but it tasted great otherwise. If you pay with cash, you get a free bottled water. Props to the one-man-army employee, or opener, who was prepping for lunch.

Yelp
We came here for a cheap dinner, as was recommended by a friend who frequents the area and loves Mediterranean food, and she did not steer us wrong! We were going to a lecture nearby, so needed something quick, cheap and casual, which Aladdin Falalfel Corner is. Yet more importanly, it's an awesome eatery for Mediterranean classics, from gyros to falafels to plates with pita, hummus and the works. You order at the register, pick a seat while you wait for your food to be served to you, and bus your own table. I ordered the Gyro Salad, which didn't take long to get and it was super filling and tasty! My favorite part of the Gyro Salad was the tzatziki dressing! I love greek yogurt, so it really tasted like pure greek yogurt, but with some fresh herbs and lots of lemon juice. It was light, fragrant and really complemented the overall salad! The gyro meat was also very tender and plentiful - you definitely get your money's worth and more. My salad was only $8.99, which compared to other Mediterranean joints with gyro salads at $10+, this one was WAYYY better. If you're looking for an affordable meal on the Ave and love Mediterranean food, then you'll want to visit Aladdin's!

RT V.

Yelp
Food is good. Service can be a bit funky with weird interactions between the main guy and his cooks. Gets a bit awkward when he says " 'm the boss" And watch out for the duck tape (duct tape?) on the chairs that ruined my friends jeans with sticky residue

Luis C.

Yelp
Food is alright, the professionalism is just not there. The older man, who im pretty sure is the boss, has no control over his son. His son, a 35 yr old looking man, is always angry and looking to argue. I ordered two hummus with gyro and stated i wanted 4 pita breads. He went on the longest rant telling me that the hummus already comes with 1 pita, wondering if i wanted 6 total pita or just 4.... Im telling you, the son just wants to argue lmao. If a customer asks for 4 pita just give them 4 pita, no need to ask if the customer means 4 extra pita. Be smart!

Yelp
This place is along the ave. Super friendly staff! Gyro salads are my thing!! I absolutely love. I have a go-to spot near my college campus and Aladdin's gyro salad was tasty however, I feel like there was a lot going on!! I should ask for the dressing on the side (tzaziki sauce), I usually feel refreshed eating gyro salads but this was one loaded with dressing and the meat was seasoned a little differently than what I'm used to. Don't get me wrong, the salad was good! But not as refreshing as I would like. I feel like I would be more inclined to get a gyro pita :)
google avatar

Yelp
Use to go here but this last time will be the last ! Ordered a gyro and it was horrible and just not what I remembered it tasted and looked Ike .. the chicken pieces were tough and burnt and just not good . The whole gyro fell apart and just was soggy basically .. never again !
google avatar

Matt U.

Yelp
As much as it pains me, this experience was slightly below average. The original "Ave" spot down the way was a total staple in college and introduced me to the magic that is the Gyro! Seriously, it may be my favorite meat! That's why this was such a letdown. We wandered in as I was in a hangry state and wished to satisfy my cravings with the best meat since time started. The dudes working were super chill and took my order right away. It was out in a few minutes and the combo looked great. That's where it ended. The fries were unfortunately really bland. A little salt would go a long way. The gyro was served on an excellent pita but the meat was slightly cold and wasn't crisped at all. It was probably the least satisfying Gyro I've ever had and it made my heart sink a bit. I imagine they do better on a regular basis and had one aspect been off, I'd give them the benefit of my doubt, but when both items are sub par, well sir- the masses deserve to know. I truly hope my blah lunch was a dual misfire. Others seems to be enjoying their meals, though maybe they got something. We'll be heading down the street next time as no mediocre experience will deter us from the deliciousness that is the Gyro!

Yelp
I love their hours, it's always open. Amazing greek fries with lots of sauce. The chicken dinner plate has great seasoning and sauce.

Yelp
Been coming to Aladdin Falafel Corner on the university ave longer than I can recall. Having not strolled the Ave in sometime I found myself at the University Street Fair today and famished. The Aladdin my old friend was staring my in the face so I entered. Not much has changed even the food. Gyro was my order for today and it didn't disappoint me. Aladdin's really packs the sandwich full of meat. No scrimping on the gyro meat with these cooks. Walking away hungry is impossible. Im sure your drooling now so hurry up and come and order one. And in case your wondering there fries are outstanding just the way fries should be. Ask for some feta to top them off it makes a huge difference in taste. I'll make a note to come back very soon.

Tess I.

Yelp
The workers were busy but still very friendly! They also have sit-down dining, so my friend and I ordered then sat in a booth! I ordered a gyro lamb & beef sandwich with a large Greek fries to share. The gyro was very good and was sort of curry flavored. It was also a great size in terms of satiety and price! My friend got the gyro plate, and he also said it was really good. He was too full to eat the fries so I took most of them home, but beware there's a lot of cheese on top and although it made the dish, probably refrain from getting if you're lactose intolerant (like seriously). Overall, I would come back again!! I actually preferred it more than the other places on The Ave.
google avatar

Bryan L.

Yelp
This gyro/falafel joint seems to be a classic on the Ave for late night dining and for good reason too. They're open late into the night, serve greasy and good food fast and for a decent price. I ordered the lamb gyro with hot sauce and a side of falafel. The gyro meat was tender but the hot sauce was a little overpowering and the last few bites were a little soggy and full of the sauce and drippings from the meat. Overall I enjoyed the gyro. The falafel I got on the other hand was pretty dry and crumbly, inside had a nice texture of the lentils but I felt they fried it a little too hard. The side of white sauce didn't do much to combat its dryness. Overall it's a pretty good option for late night grub and I would eat here again.
google avatar

Dora D.

Yelp
Aladdin Falafel Corner on the ave is seriously some of the best falafel/halal style food in Seattle. I love ordering from them, and try to go as much as I can especially now during COVID. Their portions are very generous and are at a very reasonable price point! Pictured below is the dinner special plate, which comes with pita bread and a drink.
google avatar

Aimee B.

Yelp
I grew up eating at this place since I was a kid and this place still makes my mouth water and now I come with my family. As A Greek Food Lover it's very hard to find a place that fulfills my cravings and this place is one of the best around seattle. I have literally tried everything over the years and they never let me down. Their shawarma stands out and is delicious , the owner is very nice and will go above and beyond for his customers.  The salads are always fresh and crispy. I will continue to come back again and again and will always refer to friends.
google avatar

Zachary H.

Yelp
I ordered Aladdin on Uber eats because of a recommendation from a friend who said this was the best gyro place in Seattle. I have to go yell at my friend now because this place was way over hyped. My gf got lamb shawarma and I got a lamb and beef Gyro. We split the Aladdin Fries. The size of these sandwiches were way smaller than other local gyro places, some being right around the corner from here. There is an option to get extra meat for an additional fee, but I don't want to pay more considering the other local places are giving way bigger portions for CHEAPER than Aladdins regular sized portion! If the food was exceptionally better I'd understand that, but in my opinion it was worse. Now that's not to say the food is bad because it's not, it's just more expensive and not as good as other places I've tried. If you haven't tried other places you'll likely thoroughly enjoy Aladdins. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend it.

Yelp
I highly recommend this place, easy parking, good service and the food is super tasty!!!
